I slept late with a lot of restlessness during the night: I dozed off around 11:15 and woke feelng as if I'd bee through a heavy sleep period and it was the middle of the night. It was 12:15am. Around 4:30 am, my cell phone began ringing. It was from some 203456 number, God alone knows where the hell it is!, and I was left a two word message in a language i do not understand. After tha I dreamed I was at a weddng party for Patti Lupone and there was a horrible mixup with the champagne. I am not making this up!

So, today: clean the apartment, see the doctor at 12:15 to discuss my high blood sugar tests and a flu shot.

After that, Steven LaBrie is coming by to pick up some music before he rehearses with Billy for next week's recording. If I feel like working after that, I've got some SLIPPER & TOYLAND notes to look over.

The Goodwill outlet store has cds for $1...a price I really like, so I am listening to a "best of Percy Faith" CD that I purchased there. Then a Woody Herman CD, also $1.

Thanks to people like JRand and George I have plenty of goodies to watch this weekend. HIGH SCHOOL STORIES (starring Mr. Tom Birkland) will be one, for sure, then maybe THE ALLIGATOR PEOPLE or IT CONQUERED THE WORLD. I love having choices!

Mum and I will be losing Miss Dixie Bell today. She was a beautiful friend, companion and each and every synonym entailing friendship, but her quality of life cannot be returned.

I know that my fellow Hainesies share in our appreciation for Miss Dixie Bell, so, I will quote from A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENT'S:

I've also managed to get my flu shot and a prescription for a second drug to help my blood sugar levels.

DR TD, sorry to hear your sad news. I know how unpleasant and heartbreaking it will be. I can only send my condolences.

Miss Dixie Bell left this world at 2:15pm today. I was right there beside her the whole time. In the car, she laid her head on my lap. At the vet's, I laid on the floor beside her. She licked me once before she went. I know that Dad greeted her somewhere beyond this plane.

Also today, as Mum was looking up a phone number in her book, a sheet of paper came out. That sheet of paper was THE PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.
While I was at the vet with Miss Dixie Bell, Mum gazed out into Dixie's yard and saw a flock of blackbirds.

He dropped off a piece of music for me, and I'll see him on Tuesday at the recrdig session. They drove up from Philadelphia today because he's carting everything he accumulated during the run of "Puss In Boots" in Manhattan back to Philly.

He's actually very good about not licking it off. I put it on, rub it in and then stay with him for a while. He licks it, but not when I'm here.

Plus we've done something unique with one of the scores that I'm sure will please score enthusiasts very much.

It's been a bad year for losing pets here at HHW between DD Miss Blue Moon and DD Bosco. But we're all here for you, which is the great thing about this here site.

When I lost my 22 year old kitty, I found a lot of comfort at www.petloss.com . They have a chat room where you can share your feelings with others who are going through the same thing. It helped me tremendously. They have a candle-lighting ceremony every Monday night, and I will light a candle for Miss Dixie Bell and our other HHW canines this Monday night.

My birthday present to her was a day of handymanning. Tomorrow's not going to be the official birthday gift day because I also signed up to work concessions for a local production of A Year With Frog and Toad (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/calendar/calendar_detail.asp?event_id=1200). It should be delightful. The guy who played Rod in The Brain is playing Frog (he's the taller one on the left) and I don't doubt that he'll be great!
