Well, you've read the notes, the notes were all of a sudden, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently singing the score to Annie all of a sudden.

“THERE IS NO 311 AREA CODE”
Kritzerland is proud to present a world premiere limited edition soundtrack release:
Dead Of Winter
Music Composed by Richard Einhorn
Just before the thriller genre made a huge comeback in September of 1987 with the release of Fatal Attraction, earlier that year Orion released a nifty, old-fashioned thriller called Dead Of Winter, directed by Arthur Penn (Bonnie and Clyde, Mickey One, Night Moves, Little Big Man), starring Mary Steenburgen, Roddy McDowell, and Jan Rubes. The film was actually an unofficial remake of Joseph Lewis’ 1945 film, My Name Is Julia Ross. Here, in homage, one of the characters is named Julie Rose, and another is called Joseph Lewis.
Penn had a good deal of fun with the thriller conventions, with Hitchcockian touches, a big, foreboding house, a severed finger, evil machinations under the guise of something innocent, blackmail, deceit, and an innocent heroine thrust into those evil doings.
The reviews were mixed, but respectful – the New York Times’ critic Janet Maslin wrote, "When a director approaches Gothic horror with this much enthusiasm, the results are bound to be as merry as they are frightening. So audiences for Arthur Penn's Dead of Winter are in for a hair-raising treat." And Roger Ebert wrote, “The movie itself is finally just an exercise in silliness – great effort to little avail – but the actors have fun with it, the sets work and there are one or two moments with perfect surprises."
For the film’s score, Penn hired Richard Einhorn, a composer who straddled the worlds of classical and film music. His “opera with silent film,” Voices of Light, was hailed as “a great masterpiece of contemporary music” and has had over 150 performances. Its CD (on Sony) was a Billboard classical bestseller. Prior to Dead Of Winter, he scored several films, including Don’t Go In The House, Eyes Of A Stranger, and The Prowler, among others, and subsequent to Dead Of Winter he scored Bill Condon’s cult film, Sister, Sister.
As it turned out, Einhorn was the ideal choice for Penn’s film – the then-current vogue for thrillers, chillers, and horror back in the 1980s was an emphasis synthesizers. Einhorn took the opposite approach, with wonderful, atmospheric scoring for a real orchestra consisting of piano, harp, reeds, strings, and percussion. His score is eerie, beautiful, suspenseful, and perfectly evokes the snowy New England setting.
Dead of Winter is mastered from Richard Einhorn’s personal digital tapes, which were in perfect condition. We present the entire score in film order, followed by a short suite of alternate cues.
With Dead Of Winter, Richard Einhorn wrote one of the best thriller scores of the 1980s, and it’s a pleasure to finally bring it to CD.
This release is limited to 1000 copies only. The price is $19.98 plus shipping.
CD will ship the first week of December – however, preorders placed directly through Kritzerland usually ship one to five weeks earlier (we’ve been averaging four weeks early). To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

Today, the family is all gathering at my sister's house to do the candy thing. I don't think that I've actually stayed home on a Halloween, so I don't know how many people come through my condo complex.

Good YouTube stuff Fred!

Morning all.
That is all.

The Parade (Halloween that is) has been shortened this year due to budget cutbacks so it ends a 15th Street instead of 23rd Street. There are traffic diversions all over the neighborhood with no parking on our block (16th Street) and I assume some of the floats and revelers will be exiting the parade down across 16th Street.

Good morning, all! Yesterday in all the apartment activity I sprained or strained my right knee. I can barely stand on my right leg and I am in a great deal of discomfort. I see my doctor on Tuesday and, if it's not showing signs of improvement, I will ask her to check it out. I think it will heal on its own accord, but since I feel the sooner the better, I could use soem vibes.
As a result, I slept poorly, but the added discomfort was the loud squeaky activity of the Oaf Above Me and his lady friend around 2:15am. I also had a series of bizarre dreams, one involving a recording session in a series of rooms that seems to be the floorplan of the house where I grew up, a backup lesbian singer putting moves our our recording producer, and a debate on how one singer left without recording all of his material.
I did watch all of THE WOMAN IN BLACK, one spooky and creepy ghost story, courtesy of BBC television and Susan Hill (original author). I have a bootleg DVD, since it's out of print, and a commercial one would be nice to own. The movie reminds me a lot of THE HAUNTING, in which not much is seen but much is implied, and it builds to a terrifying sequence involving the voice of a dead child and a toy soldier, that is quite a shock, The cast is great.
Today, I plan to spend most of the day lying down and watching movies on DVD. I've also got a book to read, and I need to ponder what to do about the computer, now that I've moved everything around, and the consequences of moving a floor lamp.
-
Thanks, Ben!

Happy Halloween, everybody!

Question Of The Day
Did you "celebrate" Halloween last night or are you going to do it tonight? Or both
-
My wife bought 3 bags of the Hershey min-candy bars to give out to the kiddies tonight.
Frankly, I could care less if the little ones knock on our door or not.
I love those things.

Happy Halloween from chilly (it's about time) Northern Virginia! Actually it's supposed to reach 62 today.
-
I enjoyed your review, Ben!
-
Healing vibes to elmore!
-
Thanks Kevin.
-
Yes, hugs of good health to our dear Larry.
-
I just did a re-scan of our digital stations and we now have Channel 50 which is a NJ PBS Station. If only Channel 21 had a stronger signal.
-
Anthony is still asleep.
-
It's 9:30. I'm never asleep at 9:30am
9:30 pm sometimes but not 9:30am
-
My stomach is rumbling. I must find some food.
-
And some coffee
-
Although it's chilly outside the sun is shining and it looks beautiful.
-
We don't get Trick or Treaters since we live on the 4th floor of a locked building. There are no children in this building. The Child Catcher found them and took them away (mwahhahhaahhaaa)
Bye for now.
-
Vibes for pain to go away to Larry
-
Jrand - thanks for watching and the great comment too!
-
Nice radio show from DR BEN.
And nice song from DR FJL.
-
YW DR FJL.
-
We saw ANNIE on tour with Miss Sally Struthers as Miss Hannigan - and she was GREAT! John Schuck was Daddy Warbucks, and he was good, too.
The children were mostly insufferable......no, they were ENTIRELY insufferable.

Sounds like you need some Aleve. Vibes your knee is better soon!

BOO!
-
I was going to let Ricky run all night last night, but was reading a book and all of a sudden heard a huge CRASH!!! I ran downstairs and he had knocked some wooden things over, it made lots of noise but nothing broke and no injuries.
Anyway, I decided that was enough and took him up to my room and shut the door. We played and played and then he conked out on the bed and didn't stir until 7:30 am. It's a good thing. The girls were very upset before I went to bed last night and I decided to give them the night off. They started back in with hissing this morning, but the howling has diminished. There was one moment when they were all quietly within 4 feet of each other. I grabbed the camera and it went downhill quickly.
-
Happy Halloween from chilly Arizona, where it is expected to be a nippy 81 degrees today.
-
A happy Trunk or Treating to everyone!
-
A happy Trunk or Treating to everyone!
If my leg weren't an ordeal to stand, I'd go Trick or Gin'ing.
Thanks for the vibes, everyone!
-
Hope your knee gets better soon, Elmore!
-
The Gin may help, DR Elmore
-
I'm doing laundry this morning. Washed my bed spread and now I'm doing the bedding from Ricky's room. It's going to have to go when his treatment is done, it really does smell like sulfur. I would like to save one of the blankets, so I may just do borax or bleach or something to get the smell out. the bed spread is really faded, so if I can get the smell out I'll keep it, if not, it's going

Knee vibes for DR ELMORE.....
Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream reveals dissatisfaction with some of the aspects of the recordings you are involved in, but with second thought, you realize it has always been thus. The appearance of the lesbian woman reveals your inner most thoughts about some women who trade a life of wife and mother for a life of transitory fame in show business.

Tonight we will have our Samhein Seance at Collinwood...er.....I mean The World of Wisdom.
October 31st is the day of greatest spirit activity in the year, the day when the veil between the spirit world and the earthly realm is thinnest - anything can happen.
Spirits also get promotions, demotions, or stay in the same place tonight - depending upon their actions during the previous year.
-
DR KERRY scared me.
-
And the word of the day is: HOBGOBLIN!
And The Song Of The Day Is: SOMETHING SORT OF GRANDISH

Chrisse R. told me last night she was certain my long heel-ache was plantar fasciitis (sp?), which she also suffers from. She showed me some excercises her PT gave her for it, and lo and behold, the pain is largely gone this morning for the first time in months! Now I need to find someone who has the same lower back pain I have, and all will be well. :)
-
We are hoping we actually have kids coming tonight for Halloween. Our old house was so far back from the street and hard to see we never got anyone.
-
BK, perhaps you would like to share your reservation information with JMK, so that your personal, private chauffeur is actually there to pick you up and transport you hither and yon (and also yon and hither). :)
-
I'd also love PM's from anyone who can come up (and/or down or sideways) on Friday November 12. We will have a "do" for BK, and if you need a place to stay that night, you are welcome at our house, or in BK's hotel room, I'm quite positive. ;)

remarkable.
-
DR JMK - when was Frances' contract with Paramount cancelled? Or did her original 1935 contract for seven years just run out in 1942 and it was not renewed?

I had plantar fascitis (can't spell it either) a while back. It took 6 months for me to get better. The exercises stretching the back of the calf helped me the most. That and Aleve. Aleve is my answer to all pain. Have you seen a chiropractor for your back? Maybe you just need an adjustment
-
Larry-
I guess it's not the bee's knees
However-Get Better
Hope You're up to Dancing(at least walking without pain) REAL SOON
-
I have decided on my color scheme for my new den. The inspiration is a bedspread I got a long time ago. I don't particularly like the fabricc, but I do like the color scheme. Also there is a pillow sham with it, so I can take it to stores to find a rug, paint etc. It's got a neutral tannish background with a muted green, blue/gray and maroon color. I think it will be very cozy
-
Nice...DR CILLA LIZ.
-
We had breakfast and are now contemplating what to do with the beautiful fall day ahead of us.
-
Anthony is having hot chocolate.
-
I don't think I'll be having any coffee.
Or hot chocolate.
-
Welcome to Page 3
-
And bye for now.
-
I'm happy that it's Halloween since I feel like eating chocolate. :)
Hopefully either my sister will have some chocolate left, my niece will share some with me, or maybe some nice people will give me a bar or two for dressing up and braving the cold (it does happen).
-
It did snow last night. But there is no snow left on the roads. Just a tiny bit on the grass. Hope it melts.
-
Wow, I wonder what it would be like to go trick or treating if it was 81 degrees. That sounds so awesome!
-
Thanks Ginny. I'm not brave, I've run out of alternative options.
-
DR Edi, I have never seen Baby Jane. Thanks for the vibes.
-
A friend of mine gave me a painting that she bought in Venice, Italy - lovely colors.....no room in my house, so she told me it was all right to pass it along to my brother.
He put it in a little alcove between the dining room and the kitchen in his house.
-
Thank you Laura. Now I have another day to be nervous about doing the first injection. The needle really is very, very small & works with a pump. Rashes on the sites will be more bothersome then the injection.
-
Thanks George. The wedding sounds fun and I like the grooms wedding band.
-

Great news the exercises helped. Keith had that & could barely walk. The doctor gave him a shot of cortisone and now he has problems from the shot.

-
DR Edi, I have never seen Baby Jane. Thanks for the vibes.
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane is why I never want my siblings to ever take care of me, lol. It's a creepy movie. If you like the good old fashioned psychotic woman movies...this is the best

BK,
I recall seeing ANNIE at the Shubert in Los Angeles, too, and (like you), I remember Tom Hattan as FDR, but I can't recall who played Miss Hannigan.
Does anybody here know who did the role?

Aleve has never done a thng for me, but I'd sure love a vicodin.

NICE JOB, BEN! NICE JOB, FJL!
-
I'm also contemplating a new comforter. I was going to buy one last winter, but I could find nothing I liked.

NICE JOB, BEN! NICE JOB, FJL!
Ditto!

Enjoyed your video, FJL!

John Schuck should be good, he has been playing the role for almost thirty years!

I would suggest 1500 mg of Vicodin. It works most of the time.
-
I can't wait for my laundry to be done so I can leave for awhile. I want to go look at area rugs.

LOL DR TCB....he must have seen LOTS of Annies.

I want to go look at clothes, but I hate the styles right now. In my opinion, I want to say "Tuck in your shirt and get a bigger size" everyone looks so sloppy . I just want some classic cuts. Why is that asking so much? Done with rant
-
Really JRand? I will keep an eye out to see if any fairies hover around my bed tonight.
-
RUG vibes for DR CILLA LIZ......I love making ON SALE discoveries!
LOL Thanks JRand, I thought you said BUG vibes...
-
Well, I really did not want to leave the apartment today, but MICHAEL'S is having a buy one, get one free sale on frames...and it just so happens that I am needing a couple of 20 x 30 frames.
I guess I will stop by the Goodwill in Keizer on my way.

The previews & clips I've seen over the years have been enough to keep me away. Now I think about it have the same reaction if my sister had taken care of me. ;D
-
I can't wait for my laundry to be done so I can leave for awhile. I want to go look at area rugs.
I wish I had your energy. If I did I would go to the big eyeglass store in the mall and look at frames.
-
Oh, I need to stop by Goodwill. I may also see if the Re-Store is open, but I don't think it is on Sunday. I'm looking for more tiles and some things I can tile over to make mosaic trivets for Christmas presents. I really love mine.
-
I wish I didn't have all these chores to do, I'd be working on my mosaics and some other things I need to do. It is nice to know all the throw rugs, the blankets for the cats ALL the bedding etc are clean, though. I've been washing all the bedding every other day. I am very tired of doing that, but it's needed to be done.
-
Really JRand? I will keep an eye out to see if any fairies hover around my bed tonight.
Still got that mirror on your ceiling? :D
-
I couldn't find Sherlock's pumpkin bandanna and then realized that is because it was Echo's. I need to get him something for Halloween-wish I had thought of it sooner.
-
LOL DR CILLA LIZ....
-
Really JRand? I will keep an eye out to see if any fairies hover around my bed tonight.
Sleeping with one eye open is always a good thing to do.
-
JMK, have they ever solved the murder of your former lawyer neighbor?
-
Health vibes for DR Elmore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I got all my layers of clothing ready for tonight. I hope i don't look like a big roly poly hula dancer!
-
;D Will there be a photo of you?

Whatever happened to Fay Wray?

Sorry, Jane, I was quoting ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.
-
I knew you were quoting Rocky Horror, but it was fun to see what Far Wray had done
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I was supposed to get my Cat Sculpture delivered sometime over the past week. I emailed the people who have it, but they haven't answered. I wish I could find their phone number. I may drive out there today and just make sure the sculptures are all still on display. It's an outdoor sculpture that I'm going to put inside, so it's ok to be sitting there, but I really want it
-
I will be meeting dear reader Jeanne for lunch - we were going to do West Hollywood, but there's a huge parade there later and I won't go anywhere near that area. Therefore, dear reader Jeanne is being adventurous and actually driving to the San Fernando Valley (barely). We're meeting at the Sherman Oaks Mel's Diner - it's just two minutes from the Sepulveda and Ventura off-ramp.
-
we could get to page 5
-
Here it is
-
I have to buy more candy. But, everything is prepped for our announcement tomorrow morning.
-
Where is the accent in the word Sepulveda on the "pul" or the "ve" ? I've never known how to pronounce it correctly
-
Happy Halloween, all!
-
Healing vibes for DR Elmore.

Whatever happened to Fay Wray?
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0942039/ ;)
Sorry, Jane, I was quoting ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.
I didn't know what you were quoting, still I knew to put a wink with my response. ;D
-
I still need to pick up Halloween candy. The debate is: Do I get something I don't want to hand out, so I can give away the rest? Or do I just get Reese Cups for me and a bag of whatever to hand out?
-
I will be meeting dear reader Jeanne for lunch -
Say hello and have a nice lunch.
-
I had planters fasciitis, too. My doctor told me I had because I was getting old and fat. He's much older and much fatter than me, which I was too polite to point out.
I found that hamstring exercises did a world of good. If you can find a Pilates book in your library, you'll probably find some great ones involving flexing your feet, things you can do at a desk even. As soon as I learned that, my heels began to hurt less and the pain was gone in a few days.
-
SePULveda. The PUL is pronounced PUHL and veda is pronounced VEHDA.
-
Where is the accent in the word Sepulveda on the "pul" or the "ve" ? I've never known how to pronounce it correctly
I used to put the accent on the "ve," but folks here in Texas place it on the "pul."
-
Where is the accent in the word Sepulveda on the "pul" or the "ve" ? I've never known how to pronounce it correctly
Now you have me saying Sepulveda over and over. To me it is pretty close & Keith wasn't any help. I'm going with pul.
-
Thanks BK. It comes up from time to time and I didn't know.
-

I think in Spanish grammar it should be on the ve. There must have been an accent on the u at some point that was dropped because everyone knew how to say it....well everyone but me ;)

Ah ha! I'm right, there was an accent. Now it makes sense http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sep%C3%BAlveda

LOL, Boo was growling at Ricky and yawning at the same time....too funny

Fish fillets, green beans and wild rice for dinner

At last, the very last load of clothes is in the dryer. I can now venture out. I was going to meet Paul for coffee, but he's tired after driving back from Colorado, so I may actually do some shopping. I have to either get Halloween candy or leave my light off and not participate.
-
Getting ready to go buy candy and then lunch.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! We stopped at CVS on our way back from Lima to buy treats to hand out this evening. All the candy up front was in Christmas packaging and all the Halloween stuff was way in the back and on sale. In addition to our hand-outs, I bought one bag of candy corn to sprinkle around the base of our terra cotta jack o' lantern. They're zero fat, so I ate a few and got quite the sugar rush. Guess I have a reduced tolerance for such things after almost 13 weeks of avoiding them.

Knee recovery vibes to DR Elmore!

Whatever happened to Fay Wray?
That delicate satin draped frame?

Today is a warm sunnyday I bought a bagof 150 assorted chocolates : Rreeses peanut butter cups.M & M's. crunch bars, kitcats, twix etc --

Thursday night Vixdad had a craving fro Taco Bell so, being a dutiful wife, I drove through and bought him some
Later that evening he complained of some intenstinal discomfort - but since he had recently eaten Taco Bell I thought nothng of it
Friday morning he was still in some discomfort but went off to work
Late Friday afternoon I received a call from Vixdad -
"I am at the Doctor's office.. I need to go to the ER can you come get me?"
then I hear the doctor in the background.
" You are not going to wait for her to get here - I'll drive you there myself"
(which REALLY scared me!)
-
The doctor's arriving with patient in tow absolutely put Vixdad on the fast track - when I arrived they had him in triage and were taking blood for testing - then he passed out
more rapid attention ....
fortunately the suspected appendicitis was actually a intenstinal infection - still not good but much better than it could have been
so no surgery but some meds...
much to my relief
-
and hence my E & T ness the past couple of days

and now I have caught uo - thank you for the Alice clip Elmore

You are welcome. I'm just sorry they were so needed and relieved to read Vixdad is better. I'm very impressed the doctor drove him to the hospital.

3 trick or treaters so far ...

JR, Frances' contract just ran out. The interesting thing is there are wire reports of her re-upping as late as mid-1942. I think they're on that news archive CD-ROM I sent you.
Cilla, oh, yes, I have been to chiropractors, two in fact. Also physical therapists and two acupuncturists, as well as my "real" doctor and a urologist. Absolutely no consensus or even idea of what is causing the pain.

And Flash Gordon was there in silver underwear.

Not many trick-or-treaters here...
-
Went and looked at futons and rugs. Didn't buy anything. I went to my fav furniture store. today was the last day of their sale, but they have tons of sales. I mentioned that I was sure they would have more sales before I was ready to finish the room and the salesman (also a city council memeber) said "Yeah, probably starting next week" lol
-
Claude Rains was the invisible man
-
My usual salesman at the furniture store (who told the councilman "She's my LONG TERM customer" lol, nice to have them fight over me) told me that our trick or treaters are from 6-8. So we'll see.
-
and hence my E & T ness the past couple of days
Improving health vibes to vixdad!
-
I watched the History of Halloween on the History Channel this afternoon. Trick or treating isn't that old of a tradition. It started because the tricks were getting violent and dangerous and it began as a way to bribe the kids into not commiting vandalism. I had no idea
-
FOX Movie Channel is showing ROCKY HORROR non-stop today. I watched the last forty minutes or so, and i was pleased to see the quality of the new print. Of course, I found it a bit grainy during the special effects, but I suppose we can't get past that. And let us not discuss the soft matte filmmaking.
I was glad that the song SUPERHEROES is complete again. The last few times I saw the film in a theater that last twenty minutes were very mangled.
-
I just watched TCB 's performace in High School stories! The DVDs arrived the day that my Mom was rushed to the hospital I forgot all about them until just now -

Yesterday, I was the only one in the building when I got there a little before five. Apparently the computer tech had been working on my computer after I left on Friday. He left my computer cart maybe six inches from where it is supposed to be, So, naturally I tripped over the cart and came close to smacking head first into my desk. Fortunately I grabbed the back of my office chair which then broke my fall. If I hadn't stopped myself, I probably would have been laying there, out cold, until I was able to get myself up and out of there.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
No trick-or-treaters here, haven't been for many moons. . . .
Steelers vs Saints tonight.

DR TCB - I'm glad you avoided a workplace accident!

THE FOLLOWING POST SHOULD BE IGNORED BY ALL OF OUR COOKS, CHEFS, AND GOURMET EATERS.
I found a great new frozen dinner this week. It is made by Marie Callender's. I have always liked their restaurants, but hated there frozen dinners. This is a new family-size (if you have a family of two or three) entree called Southwestern-Style Chipolte Chicken Dinner. It is wonderful, and there is plenty for two. I had already tried and enjoyed their new Scalloped Potatoes and Ham.
COOKS, CHEFS, AND GOURMET EATERS CAN NOW RETURN TO READING THE POSTS.

Back from a lovelier than lovely lunch with dear reader Jeanne and ready for the trick or treaters. I bought four more bags of candy - they were out of almost everything, but I got some Milky Way, Snickers, and Peter Butter cups. But as soon as I opened the first bag of the two I got at Costco I realized I was probably fine - these bags are HUGE and probably have two to three hundred things in them, so I doubt I'll go beyond them.
-
DR TCB - I'm glad you avoided a workplace accident!
Thanks, Ginny. I naturally screwed up my back anyway; but what else is new.
-
Just saw the neighbors grandkids taking off in the opposite direction. I'm thinking I'll be the end of the line for them. There must have be 5-10 kids there. Glad I bought candy

Hmmm Newton, IA is on 60 minutes regarding the economy. When I was little we used to go there to see the Courthouse Christmas lights turned on. That's where Maytag started. Whoever bought them out.....Whirlpool I think, moved the plants to Mexico or someplace. Pretty sad.
-
The topic was more about how there isn't any economic recovery for small businesses
-
If you have no money you can't borrow it, if you don't need a loan they will give it to you. Boy, I can relate to that
-
Boo is in her chair, Ricky is on the couch and Callie is on her mat in the hallway. This is nice.

Well, the appointed trick-or-treat time ended 15 minutes ago and I'd have to say in our neighborhood, it was a big bust. Very few houses within sight of ours had their lights on, it's pretty cold here (40s), and there was a lot of whining in the paper about it being on Sunday. I've had a few more candy corns and 1 mini Kit Kat, but I really filled up on grapes and Newman's Own unsalted, 94% fat free microwave popcorn. That tastes kind of like the styrofoam peanuts used in packing, but it's better than nothing.
-
Of course as soon as the doorbell rings they will all jump
-
Ginny, have you tried the Jolly Time fat free (or really low fat) popcorn? It's better than Newman's Own. Not as good as greasy movie corn, but not too bad

No, DR Cillaliz, haven't tried that one - thanks for the tip! Is it salted?

Then something went wrong for Fay Wray andKing Kong

No, DR Cillaliz, haven't tried that one - thanks for the tip! Is it salted?
Don't remember, they may have an unsalted. I know it's weight watchers approved, but they don't factor in salt

Peter Butter cups.
You might want to keep that information from the kids.

Vixdad is feeling much better thank you all for asking! I am sure the patented HHW Vibes had much to do with it!

Thanks, DR Cillaliz. I'm also going to try popping plain popcorn, spraying it with my fake butter, and sprinkling it with Heloise's salt substitute mixture or with some dill weed, but not tonight.

No problem. Had to plug the popcorn factory down the hill..

I've cancelled all of my appointments tomorrow to see how my leg improves.

VIBES TO TCB AND ELMORE ~~~~~~~~~

All is ready for the arrival of the trick or treaters.

First trick-or-treaters of the evening. Costumes were actually handmade. Nice.

They got caught in a celluloid jam

I had three kids who didn't know to say "trick or treat" I said "What do you say" and they all said "Thank you"....well at least they know thank you

Grilled white acorn squash this evening. Simple, yet the flavor was great. Sweet and almost nutty.

Yes, BK and I had a nice lunch in an outrageously noisy restaurant. BK can PROJECT, but when I try to I just cough.
Did you notice that I got one line in BK's post, while the candy got five or six?? ;)
-
I bought NO candy. I am not expecting any trick-or-treaters. Then again, I may be surprised.
-

They were getting ready to install my second monitor, so that I continue to do the work of the two people we used to have doing the job. I was working overtime in the hope of getting my backlog down below the 250 case mark. I am sure the computer tech thought he had put the cart back in place, but we all know how important that extra six inches can be.
Actually, the tech had almost completely disconnected my computer, so I ended up having to try and work out of someone else's cubicle. It was not a good day!
-
I found a note on my front door today. Someone who used to live here is trying to find an errant package. I gave the pick-up notice for the package to the mail carrier about a week ago. Said former tenant left her phone number. I called and filled her in, and told her that if she wished to give me her current address I'll see that any other things get forwarded. I'm afraid that "grass roots" efforts are needed.
-
I am sure that Jan Maxwell is as wonderful in WINGS as some of the critics say that she is; but I would have trouble going to see any show directed by John Doyle.
-
Watching "Pal Joey." Hadn't seen it in years. Probably won't watch it again for many years to come. And then I'll tell myself, it can't really be that bad. It can. It is.

Actually, it's worse.
-
Well, I guess I had better go carve my pumpkin.
G'night!
-
;D Will there be a photo of you?
Ha ha. Actually since I was taking the pictures the only one with me in it is of only our faces inside the door.
-
Vibes for Vixdad. Wow that sounds scary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
It was cold here (-2C with windchill) So even though it was 30ish, I still didn't find it that bad out. I had on boots, tights, thick leggings and only one warm long sleeve shirt under my warm jacket, and gloves and earmuffs. And I was not cold at all.
My niece had on tights and pants and outdoor pants (i forget the name of them, they are thinner than snowpants. She had on a hat and gloves and her jacket. And her costume over it.
I felt bad for the kids wearing their snowsuits under their costumes.
-
I had one more trick or treater...up to 4...glad I bought 3 bags of candy
-
I think we were out for maybe 1 hour 15 minutes. My niece decided she wanted to stop.
After about 30 minutes her friends joined us. Until then it was me and her at the doors. And her dad standing by the street. It was quite fun. I got quite a few pictures. Only about less than half the houses participated. But a lot of houses really had lots of nice decorations.
-
One of my favorite things was 4 teenagers (?) sitting outside on their lawn with full costumes and masks (they were sort of like goblins). Then one full costumed guy lying on the ground (in the cold) holding a big bowl of candy. But he was slithering around. It was really scary.
-
I am going to watch TAR in a few minutes.
-
I was going to shut my light out about 20 minutes ago, but that last girl was so cute - out walking with her dad - I'm glad I left it on. I'll shut it off at 8:00
-
My niece is so sweet. She love Halloween candy. But I had asked her before we went out if she got any reeses pieces if I could have one (i love these). She said sure.
Anyhow, she didn't get any, but she got one Reese peanutbutter cup (she knows i like these) and one Caramilk (she knows i like these) and she asked me if i wanted them. I told her she didn't have to since she only had one of each but she said it was okay. So sweet!
-
DR TCB - I'm glad you avoided a workplace accident!
Ditto!!! Are you hurting from the almost fall?
-
I will take some Aleve, if I have any, and a Tylenol PM and go to bed in a very short while. I'm hoping a long sleep will perk me up tomorrow.

Oh I could be wrong about that, but they closed the plant at the place that invented Maytag

DR Elmore - have you tried putting ice on your knee?
Until I visited Bryan in Chicago I would have asked the same question. The day I arrived Bryan was scheduled at the hospital and then had a class lecture before picking me up. His little motorcycle was in the shop so he borrowed his wife's large scooter (they find this mode of transportation much easier for parking in Chicago) and had a spill going over construction while turning. His knee was swollen but he said for mild swelling it is better not to ice it to prevent infection.
-
I have eaten too much chocolate....

Awww. I miss having treaters. I was going to go into town before the parade and look at the children only we Slyped too long with Craig. Not that I'm complaining about the long Skype.

LOL-Before the additions to her face.

DR Sandra looks quite lovely in her frock. Does she wear that to work?
-
I am spending my Halloween evening watching and recording to DVDr episodes of HIGHWAY PATROL...so many neat guest stars.
-
Jennifer I've enjoyed reading about your evening activities with your niece. You are also a kind aunt not to take her candy. My children used to have to hide their candy from me, even after they shared. I have no will power.
-
Next I shall watch and record to DVDr 4 episodes of GUNSMOKE, all featuring guest stars that I am fond of.
-
Wait, the candy they've been selling in the market in those big bags is to give out to other people?
-
Many thanks for contributing to the video times-watched numbers - and for watching too!

I had one trick or treater his evening...Miju, the 5 years old girl who lives in the apartment around the corner. She was a bunny.

Wow. Page 10 Dance.
-
So far, we've had exactly 0 trick or treaters. I'm really hoping this doesn't mean that they'll start later and end later, as I'd like to watch a motion picture. I can see kids passing right by the house - how weird is that. There's a light by the gate, there's a light by the front door and every year at this time we've already had fifty kids here. Oh, well.
-
I may just go out there at some point and ask WHY. Right now, I think I'll go leave the gate ajar - maybe that will help.
-
Between staying up late last night to watch Michigan lose (again), getting up at 5:30 this morning, and not getting a nap or a walk this afternoon, I'm falling asleep.
Happy Halloween, all, and - 'night!
-
I hope leaving the gate ajar makes a difference.
-
Finally, we've had an influx, an influx I tell you. About twelve so far.
-
Bruce I had hoped to surprise you in Portland and now I don't think it will happen. I'm very, very sorry.
Why?
Well, for starters Keith is not going to be able to get a break from the yard work. The falling leaves must be removed before it snows and we have already had too many rainy days making it more difficult for him to keep up. I can't drive that far.
I looked to see if there are any reasonably priced flights I can take. I found some possibilities and then realized I can't book anything until I know the new medication doesn't make me sick. If it does I might not be able to handle it on top of my usual air sickness. So it is wait & see.
Craig may be coming home about then, along with his dog and cat. He is on the move again in search of a job. He wants to base here for awhile & check out his options on the west coast. If he can't find something he will return to school, which he truly doesn't want to do, for another degree.
-

Was this after you opened the gate?

FJL, if you were referring to my 3 bags of candy, yes, the big bags full of little candy bars and tootsie rolls

It started AS I opened the gate.

Well, hopefully you'll be fine, not get airsick, clean the leaves and come on up and see your pal BK.

It's really funny, though, how many people are just walking by the house - the gate is now wide open, it's very bright, and I have the BEST candy.

Lawsy, we have more T&T-ers here in the last hour than we had in 15 years at our old house. Betsy is out buying more candy. We've gone through four bags already. Some incredibly cute little kids, though, my heart is just welling up when I see some of them (yes, I'm a sentimental fool).

Craig may be coming home about then, along with his dog and cat. He is on the move again in search of a job. He wants to base here for awhile & check out his options on the west coast. If he can't find something he will return to school, which he truly doesn't want to do, for another degree.
Well, hopefully you'll be fine, not get airsick, clean the leaves and come on up and see your pal BK.
I can't do the leaves which is why I considered flying. I'll have to wait and see. Hopefully I will not get sick from this stuff & the flights will not go up in price.

Beautiful markings on the kitten.

I did the first injection with just the right amount of pressure. It only stung a little. I'm tempted to mark the spot so I remember where not to do it again during the month of November. Of course if I marked the spot every night I would look funny by the end of the month.

Keith made pop corn popped in canola oil. I don't add anything to mine.

You could do it in a pattern and just say you're trying it out to see if you want a tattoo

Now watching a kids' movie called "The Librarian," which is a refreshing change of pace. The movie praises education while setting up the usual "save the world" scenario. The special effects aren't terribly special, but any movie with Bob Newhart and Jane Curtain in the background is worth it.
Light years better than "Pal Joey."
-
Sleep Well Jane, vibes you have no side effects ~~~~~

I'm watching the Sister Wives special...oh god, did I just admit that?
-
Uh-oh. They're headed for Shangri-La. If they round the corner and Liv Ullman is singing "All the World Is a Circle," I may have to smash the DVD.
-
I'm watching the Sister Wives special...oh god, did I just admit that?
Well, that sounds different. Jell-O cooking lessons and tips for outmoded attire?

They're the polygamist family

So, I gathered. Are they interesting or do they sound brainwashed?

It's still going on but tapering off. I went through one of the HUGE Costco bags, into the second, plus gave away four bags of chocolate covered raisins, two bags of almond joy, a bag each of Milky Way and Snickers, a bag of peanut butter cups, and a couple of others I can't remember. So, hundreds of candies handed out.

We haven't had us 300 posts in a 'coon's age.
-
Dear reader Sandra looks A for adorable.
-
The Daddy Warbucks of the first national tour was Keene Curtis, who I later worked with and liked very much.
-
Still can't remember the Miss Hannigan, though.
-
I didn't get many trick-or-treaters tonight. That means leftover Reese's Cups and Almond Joys for me. Yippee?

I imagine he was a great Daddy Warbucks. I remember seeing him at Georges in "La Cage."
-
Guess I'll try watching a movie now, as we seem to have no more kiddies coming to the door. I guess dinner will be treats. And maybe an English muffin with either butter or perhaps some Bonbel cheese melted on top.
-
We had more trick or treaters than we've had in years.
But, I think they're finished now...and I'm going to bed.
-
At least I didn't run out of candy, and I usually give what's left over to she of the Evil Eye and I'm sure the helper will take some and I'll keep some for the rehearsal.
-
And, of course, I kept some Almond Joys for the freezer along with a couple of peanut butter cups and a Milky Way and Snickers.

Any reviews yet for "Scottsboro Boys"?
-
I think they are interesting. They aren't brainwashed, they pretty much rin the show more than he does
-
Not quite over, I guess.
-
Glad to read a few raves and near-raves for "Scottsboro" and that the NYT's review isn't as negative as the one earlier this year.
-
The Vixter is going on school trip to see Scottsboro Boys

That's great.

Sandra looks wonderful! Nice treats she was handing out!
-
uh oh Poltergeist is on now -- this scared the beejesus out of me in the theatre back in the day
-
Time for bed. Night, all.
-
Is it possible that Jane Connell was the Miss Hannigan you saw with Keene Curtis as Warbucks?
(That's what seems to come up on google.)
-
Charles Isherwood reviewed SCOTTSBORO BOYS this time whlle Ben Brantley had reviewed it off-Broadway.
-
I was just about to say Jane Connell - she wasn't her usual great self, though, as Miss Hannigan.

Have you seen it?

-
Cilla - Haven't seen SCOTTSBORO BOYS yet. I'd been waiting in case some out-of-town friends wanted to see it with me next week.
-
And I just couldn't get in on a weekend when it was off-Bway. It was a very hot ticket at the Vineyard.
-
Get me off this damn page.
