Last night I got an email from our alto Rosalie, who is sick and isn't sure sha can make the session this morning to sing in the ladies' ensemble. I sent her a return email telling her to get better and not to worry about it; she's a wonderful lady, and I hope it's nothing serious. After 15 minutes of wondering who could replace her, I decided to send her a note saying "come in if you can" and worry no more about it. I wasn't going to go through the madness of the day before with replacing the ailing baritone. I've still got four excellent ladies showing up this morning, and we'll make it work even if Rosalie is still under the weather. I'm looking forward to seeing them all again and I think they and Zak will be a hoot.

We're also seeing Dillon this morning for his last solo, and then Korliss Uecker, one of my favorite opera ladies, will record a piece written for an Actors Equity benefit and three German lieder. It will be a good day.

The Oaf arrived home at 4:50 this morning, and I must commend him for his cautious treading about the apartment. He's never been this quiet before.

DR vixmom, no, alas, no one's been photographing the sessions so you will have to take my word that there were six handsome gentlemen singing like angels to backup to Rebecca yesterday afternoon.

First we had a sick alto, but the four ladies who showed up were mighty and we got Zak and the ladies' ensemble in the can; our tenor who has wonderful pitch, diction, and a way around the lyrics showed up and announced he was ready to sing but there might be problems since he was up most of the night being violently ill wth what sounds like food poisoning. At that point our pianist announced his inner ear infection was giving him vertigo and that, after we recorded the tenor, he had to go home. I had to call our soprano and tell her her session was cancelled and we'd see her on January 7.

The tenor was wonderful and we recorded him in three takes and two small fixes.

So, I'm hone and I have other work on the recording I can do here, like continue to type up the lyrics.

I have to say that we've been quite fortunate so far, but I can use all the vibes you can send for a successful three action-packed days to finish this turkey from Jan 5-7!

He has a real falir with a popular song from the Golden Age, and I think he was really getting into the Follies MC mode for his two revue numbers with the ladies.

I think I just need to eat and maybe take a nap, and then it's back to the Boulevard this eve. My Aunt (my Father's sister) and her husband will be there this eve. I haven't seen my father since 1990 and before that, 1977 or something. We reconnected on email in 2004 and my Aunt in 2007 or something. The DP and I visited her and her husband in 2007 in which we went to see the tour of Whistle Down the Wind in Sacramento. We try to keep in touch and tonight they're coming to the show. Also, my mom and her beau will be there as well. Mom is hoping they don't run into each other. I can't see how they could as 35+ years have gone by.

So i'm guessing the one from last Monday will be negative as well. That's two negatives. Since she didn't do one the week before that, I don't know how long he's been negative.

She said you're supposed to do another treatment after it's negative, well we did do another after it was negative. The spot looks good, his hair has started growing back. He has no new signs of it and no one else has gotten it. I'm really thinking that I don't want to do it again. This has been expensive and he hasn't even been neutered yet. I'll call her tomorrow and discuss it, but my gut says it isn't necessary and I'm not sure I can stand smelling it for another week

I finally managed to clean out my ear, but now I can't hear a damn thing out of that side of my head. My entire ear is very warm to the touch, and bright red, so I can assume that I have developed a cold in my ear. Naturally this happened on a Friday, because my doctor doesn't work on Friday.

Hopefully my ear will not start sneezing.

Some of the costumes people wear are unbelievable.

The most outrageous was a gal who came as "Poison Ivy". She was virtually nude, except the skimpiest thong and pasties I've ever seen.

I must admit that I enjoyed it, but there were many kids present and I'm surprised they even let her in.

It's the Austin Comic Con (aka: Wizard Con). It's being held at the Austin Convention Center.

If you think you ARE going to come, please try to let me know when.
It would be middle afternoon Saturday. I have a Pilates class until noon, so I would need to clean up before leaving.

Great. I'll make it a point not to cut out early (like I did today). Or, at least, until I see you and we get a chance to chat.

Jane was indeed a total surprise and a wonderful one - she looks amazing, and no, we weren't having a serious argument - we never argue seriously - we had a difference of opinion about the time frame during which we dated. Tina was great fun and so was her husband, and JMK and Betsy were wonderful hosts and the food was most yummilicious. And their kids are great.

Post by: bk on November 12, 2010, 11:23:16 PM: Just finished prepping our announcement for Monday - wrote the blurb, got everything to my online dealer, and we're set to go IF the tracks are ready for me on Sunday afternoon, which I'm pretty sure they will be - this is absolutely the fastest we've ever done anything - I got the tapes to the transfer place on Monday, received the CDRs on Tuesday, realized what everything was, did my edit road map done, did the entire packaging on Thursday, and the mastering guy began on Thursday as well. Unbelievable, but worth it. In fact, I may just announce it right here this very evening - and if you love this film do NOT delay in ordering it - I've upped this one to 1200 units and I can tell you that they will be gone very quickly, given the iconic status of both score and film and the fact that this is the world premiere release of the full score and includes the original album presentation, too - 2 CDs at a one CD price.

The show was great tonight. Good to see my Aunt and Uncle, and a lot of friends were there. Felt weird after I left so I came home and put on some 70's soft rock and will just listen to some music for a while.
