I'm home from Portland!

Hey everyone, long time no- well, see or chat.
I guess I'll catch everyone up with what has kept me from the sight. First things first, no one told me college was going to be like THIS. I want a warning nest time I dive into something like this, me and my fellow high schoolers (Save Raquel, since she's a genius and did it before) are all in shell shock from the amount of work.
Let's see... Anyone who meet up with Mom last week will know I was an extra in the school comedy, Heaven Can Wait, about... I think it was last weekend, but somehow, I can't remember time distences any more. O_O It went off sucsessfully... The next day. We got maybe two laughs the first day, and you could see how stressed we all got, because the queen bee *@%^#-ed alot more at us in the dressing room to "shut the front door". Also, for the sake of My Mom's sanity, and so I don't end up beaten up by said mother., any curses shall be censored. The next day went much better, but I have a feeling that that was because my friend Nick was in the audiance. How did we know? You can hear his laugh from backstage, and he was in the back of the auditorium. His laugh is very distinctive, and thankfully, along with the casts attics of "last night rule" he set the crowd off to join him. It got to the point where, in passing, we in the cast and crew would give a fond glance to each other and simply say- "Oh, Nick."- with a smile. It has been requested that though he is a senior, he must come back to every comedy so we never have that "off" night again.
I have somehow managed to get into our drama this year; Les Miserables. A feat that I've been attempting since first learning of it, and now am slightly scared of being in the play. I thought that everyone was JOKING when they said the teacher was fierce, but I guess not. Especially since she said "If you have a commitment, let me know so I can re-cast you. There's 35 of you, 1 of me, and I will have order, no matter who you are. Also, if you are not on this calender for a certain day. Don't come, I don't want you here." I know that she works with us like we're professionals, so I think, 'cool, I can go home and get this college stuff done finally' but my friend who landed Javert on his first audition for her (WAY TO GO VICTOR YOU MAKE ALL OF US PROUD!!!) is slightly frightened of being left with her after school every day, without the rest of our group there.
I myself have gotten the role of Mlle. Gulliemand. No, I don't think I spelled it right. No, she wasn't in the musical. Yes, I HAVE LINES!!!! *victory dance* Basically, I'm Marius' rich upper class aunt who lets him live in the house with her. Honestly, I don't know why I got the part, since I think Sage did a better audition for it. She did an old lady voice for it. I took the part audition as a time to pretend I was in comedy, and gave a supposadly french woman a Victorian upper class accent, and got loud when she got angry. Apparently, that's what Mrs. Shmitt wanted, because here I stand, the "richest" and "oldest" of all my frineds on stage. And I get seen more then any other girl in my group that made it. :D Even if I'm only in the second act. I am happy with my role. So far, I submitted two art designs for Mrs. Shmitt to look at for the poster, but I doubt she'll use either really. Any suggestions on how to make her more pompous and ridicukus would be greatly appreciated and most likely, used.
And last but not least, Scottsboro boys. I got to go and see it on Friday, and my GOD was I impressed. They don't have a set, but they use about twelve chairs and two planks of wood to convey where they are. Add that in with amazing singers, wonderful lighting techneques, (spelled THAT wrong), and choreography that was stunning beyond words, you have an amazing show off the bat, plot not included. Add the plot, and I say we've got a tony winner here. I'll be sorely disappointed if it dosen't win anything; possibly to the point of taking the Tony off the real winners and going over to the stage door and saying "You forgot this" to the cast of Scottsboro boys. Best part? My class was able to do a workshop with one of the actors, and he taught us the end of the first numbers dance and song. It was the only time I will ever be allowed to dance on a chair. After the musical, we were directed to the stage door (i.e., the class stampeded towards it like rabid buffaloes trying to get to the last bit of grass on the plains. Yep. That bad.) and were taken on stage. Everyone started taking pictures of them on the stage, them with the actors, and simply from the stage's perspective. Some strange man started photographing a couple of our kids doing that though, so they stopped for the sake of "I don't know you, get away from me" rules.
The only bad part was the restrooms (Oh God, pee before you get there guys, those things are small, and there's no intermission), and the fact that I had somehow managed to contract an illness, three seconds after going to dinner. I sneezed almost every number. I offically wanted to get thrown out, because it wasn't fair on anyone around me to have me sneeze in the middle of such an awsome show. I ended up going into full out sick mode on the bus home, and curlled into a ball to die/sleep on the way home, getting up to try not to freeze to death since for some reason, all my classmates had the bright idea to open the windows at eleven at night in November on a pretty cold day to begin with. (Yesh. Kids. I don't know what's wrong with these kids today.) I got home, drank some Robetession, ranted to Mom on how d.'s should work on making the taste of medicine bearable, and passed out upstairs. Then the next day was an open house at Five Towns, a bunch of Aleve, and raking AGAIN. So, that's my life in a nutshell. How's everyone else doing? You know... If you haven't died from word over-load from reading this.

Good morning, all! I am bathed, shaved, dressed, and ready to hit the road to New Jersey for THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X! I am going with one of my dearest friends Bruce Pomahac, who loves the show, and I think he's looking forward to it more than I. We're having lunch with the director of the group that's producing the show before hand, since sge's a friend of Bruce's, and I will have a full report when I return.
Things sound faboo in Portland last evening, and I wish I could have been there.
DR the vixter, reading about all you've been up to wears me out. Break a leg with LES MIS!
I don't meet Bruce until 10:30, so I've got time to make my bed and type out some more lyrics.

I really am surprised that the US does not have our smarties. They are so good. Definitely one of the most popular chocolates here. And one of my favs.

I feel bad. My sis called at 8pm. Both kids are sick. The baby has a high fever again (at 4am). She is on antibiotics since Friday. So the fever should have gone down. It was gone yesterday. But now came back. Not sure what she should do about that.
My other niece also got up at 4am with stomach problems. So she's been in the bathroom. :(

Was going to go to the Harry Potter World at Universal Orlando until I found out (three minutes ago) that there is only one new ride created for Harry Potter and the other two, a kid friendly roller coaster and a rebranded adult coaster have no interest for me. The balance of Harry Potter World is shops and restaurants which I can skip. Since I don't want to spend $71 on one ride I will skip it for now.

Going to meet Paul for coffee and then stop at the office to see what came in the mail yesterday and pick up a couple files, in case I get the urge to work on them.

I was going through my spam on the website for my provider and discovered that there is a special event TONIGHT at my favorite furniture store for regular customers. 30% off everything, no interest financing until 2014 plus more specials. That's the most they ever discount anything that isn't clearance. So, I think I'll order my futon tonight. They have some nice ones with really good mattresses. They also have some wonderful rugs. I may order both and take my color pallet for the walls etc from that.

Almost off to work, but before I go, I must share with you all a BREATHTAKING DISCOVERY which will be of UTMOST IMPORTANCE to VIRTUALLY NONE of you. Two of the CDs I bought yesterday whilst out with BK were cool "Ultralounge" compilations from the Capitol series of Bachelor Pad music. I got these because I really had never listened to any of the standalone Capitol releases and these both had very cool, plush covers--one is faux leopardskin (at least I hope it's faux) and the other is a sort of Tiki Room Bamboo. So anyway, I was listening to one of them this morning and on came "Summer Samba," and it sounded almost exactly like Walter Wanderley's version. Almost. But the inlay card said it was Billy May. Hmmmm. Then I went upstairs and put on the other volume and on came "The Look of Love" and it was exactly like Burt Bacharach's instrumental version. Billy May again. And then it dawned on me:
Here's the BREATHTAKING PART:
In the 1970s Time-Life Records had an overwhelming success with their LP series (later released on CD) called "The Swing Era," where they "recreated" Big Band hits in "modern, pristine stereo" sound. This was a great series (I had it on LP and I have it on CD), with many of the original players recreating their first versions. Billy May had done these recreations previously and T-L licensed a lot of his previously released stuff as well as recording new stuff. Time-Life unwisely (IMHO) followed up this series with another "recreation" series called "As You Remember Them," which did pop hits from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s in "new" versions. Billy May was back on board doing a bunch of new sessions. These Ultralounge things obviously include cuts from that series.
With regard to "As You Remember Them," while the instrumental "recreations" were usually pretty good, the vocal "recreations" were abysmal. I still remember cringing at their "recreation" of Brasil '66, which featured two sopranos who sounded about 15 (IIRC it was a mother and daughter pair). Lani Hall is an alto. Lordy, lordy.

I LOVE Smarties - the U.S. version. They're one of my favorite Halloween candies.
I think the Canadian Smarties are sort of like "Flicks" - which I know a couple of DRs - and bk himself - still miss. -Although, there always seems to be a report of them coming back into production...

It truly was and I'm very glad I could make it. The audience really did love it. Basically my eyes were on Bruce & Jeff allowing glances around the room to watch the happy expressions to go with the sounds of laughter & pleasure.

I was feeling very nostalgic on our anniversary and wishing I could be there and Keith said go. I went online and the flights weren't as outrageously expensive as usual so I booked a flight, after confirming I still had an invite to stay with DR JMK & family. It was all last minute and perfect timing as I had a short break from must do activities.
Sometimes wishes do come true. :) Jeff and Betsy were perfect hosts. Surprising Bruce, who didn't look surprised, nor did George come to think of it ;) and seeing MBarnum was simply grand. All in all I had a wonderful weekend. I also had a nice long walk around their beautiful neighborhood.

I'm back home and tired. Flight was very fast and we got in twenty minutes early. Since my ride was still five minutes away I decided to go into the lost and found since at the Burbank Airport it's eight steps from where you come out after de-planing. A nice policeman opened the safe - there was a laptop in there and a few plastic baggies - two or three of the baggies had sunglasses but not mine - but the last baggie he showed me were MINE!!! So, the story of the hugely expensive lost sunglasses had a happy ending and now the trip was absolutely perfection with not a negative in sight.

The Rave at the Nave sounds just wonderful, as did the entire time in Portland. I love Portland. It is one of my favorite cities on earth. This, of course made even more unhappy that I wasn't able to attend. Not to mention that I was going to bring my copy of BK's autobiography (Part 1) with me so that BK could finally sign it.

I love(d) Flicks. They were my luxury candy at the movies when I was a kid, because Flicks were a dime and my normal Hershey bar was only a nickel.

Sunday afternoon greetings! Richard and I got back from Lima a couple of hours ago and went right out for a 30-minute walk around the neighborhood. Now I'm watching skating from Portland, OR.

Thank you to DRs JRand, Laura, Sam, and Jane for the birthday wishes for Richard that appeared since my last log-in. The celebration continued today at church - I took orange chiffon cakes from Central Pastry for coffee hour and the attendees sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FATHER RICHARD. I ate a small sliver of cake and I've found that my sweet tooth is drastically diminished. And that's a good thing...

I gotta tell you this extra security thing has been "interesting" especially since the latest bomb scare. This was my first trip traveling with the injection that must be hand checked & not put through the x-ray equipment. Leaving Medford they were very nice as well as very thorough. It was rather laughable being lined up for the body and luggage check with all the old people, none of who even slightly resembled the "stereo type" terrorist.
In Portland the security guard yelled at me and absolutely refused to let me enter carrying my medicine bag. He yelled at me if I didn't put it with the rest of my stuff to roll through the machine I could not get on the plane. He told me my doctor was an idiot and the machine was just like sunlight, or something to that effect, and could not be harmed. He wouldn't even look at the letter I was carrying. I admit, I was very intimidated and did not demand to speak to a supervisor & put my very expensive medication through the machine.

Jane, don't let anyone be so rude to you ever again. You have your rights, and by God, you should get them. I really am surprised that the US does not have our smarties. They are so good. Definitely one of the most popular chocolates here. And one of my favs.

The picture of the US smarties looks like this candy that everyone gives out every year. I'm not sure their name. But they are gross. They look exactly the same as the picture. Although I'm sure the ones here must be another brand (they can't both be smarties.

Hey everyone, long time no- well, see or chat.
Let's see... Anyone who meet up with Mom last week will know I was an extra in the school comedy, Heaven Can Wait, about... I think it was last weekend, but somehow, I can't remember time distences any more. O_O It went off sucsessfully... The next day. We got maybe two laughs the first day, and you could see how stressed we all got, because the queen bee *@%^#-ed alot more at us in the dressing room to "shut the front door". Also, for the sake of My Mom's sanity, and so I don't end up beaten up by said mother., any curses shall be censored. The next day went much better, but I have a feeling that that was because my friend Nick was in the audiance. How did we know? You can hear his laugh from backstage, and he was in the back of the auditorium. His laugh is very distinctive, and thankfully, along with the casts attics of "last night rule" he set the crowd off to join him. It got to the point where, in passing, we in the cast and crew would give a fond glance to each other and simply say- "Oh, Nick."- with a smile. It has been requested that though he is a senior, he must come back to every comedy so we never have that "off" night again.
I have somehow managed to get into our drama this year; Les Miserables. A feat that I've been attempting since first learning of it, and now am slightly scared of being in the play. I thought that everyone was JOKING when they said the teacher was fierce, but I guess not. Especially since she said "If you have a commitment, let me know so I can re-cast you. There's 35 of you, 1 of me, and I will have order, no matter who you are. Also, if you are not on this calender for a certain day. Don't come, I don't want you here." I know that she works with us like we're professionals, so I think, 'cool, I can go home and get this college stuff done finally' but my friend who landed Javert on his first audition for her (WAY TO GO VICTOR YOU MAKE ALL OF US PROUD!!!) is slightly frightened of being left with her after school every day, without the rest of our group there.

Oh please DR TCB. The only other guys in my group are Mike (Wierdo), Marcus (Asexual at last count), Marc (NEVER), and Brian (Who is too much of a teddy bear to date. I simply cuddle him, as is customery with Brian.) Oh and Charles and Danny. But both are in college.

One interesting thing about today's trip to Lima: we drove the rental car that our insurance is providing while Rob's car is in the hospital. It's a Kia Sorrento - bigger than anything I've ever driven. I drove about halfway home and then let Richard take over to drive through Dayton's construction zone. It has satellite radio and we enjoyed the On Broadway station, which is kind of like having your iPod on shuffle without a menu. I knew most of the selections, but some were unfamiliar and I'd have liked to have them identified.

I took my Mom to several stores to do some shopping and then we went Panera for lunch
Mom had a cup of chicken noodle soup and 1/2 smoked turkey sandwich
I had the cup of chicken & wild rice soup and the 1/2 orchard salad (which was HUGE!) the salad was FANTASTIC All-natural chicken, field greens, romaine, dried cherries, fresh D’Anjou pears, Gorgonzola, toasted pecans & cherry balsamic vinaigrette

The best thing that happened during the 3 days (even better than selling all the books):
A gentleman, probably in his fifties, came to my table yesterday. He had been going around to the various actors and buying their autographs. He had a bag full of them.
Including my memoir, I had five (5) different books for sale and he not only bought a copy of each one, but he bought two extra copies of my THE ART OF STORYTELLING, one for each of his kids.
But, that's not the best part.
As he walked away from my table, he said: "Finally, I've bought something here worthwhile."
Made my day!

I'm back home and tired. Flight was very fast and we got in twenty minutes early. Since my ride was still five minutes away I decided to go into the lost and found since at the Burbank Airport it's eight steps from where you come out after de-planing. A nice policeman opened the safe - there was a laptop in there and a few plastic baggies - two or three of the baggies had sunglasses but not mine - but the last baggie he showed me were MINE!!! So, the story of the hugely expensive lost sunglasses had a happy ending and now the trip was absolutely perfection with not a negative in sight.
How do they know they really are yours? Do they ask detailed info before you look?
Or do you just arrive and say "i lost a laptop i'll take that one" :)

There's 35 of you, 1 of me, and I will have order, no matter who you are. Also, if you are not on this calender for a certain day. Don't come, I don't want you here." I know that she works with us like we're professionals, so I think, 'cool, I can go home and get this college stuff done finally' but my friend who landed Javert on his first audition for her (WAY TO GO VICTOR YOU MAKE ALL OF US PROUD!!!) is slightly frightened of being left with her after school every day, without the rest of our group there.

Even if your doctor was wrong. I think it was incredibly rude for them to yell at you. As far as you knew the meds needed to be hand checked.

The woman who had to give me my body check was very nice and called the supervisor over. They were both not happy about the man who yelled at me and asked who it was. The supervisor gave me some tips on dealing with a situation like this again and a complaint card to fill out. She also took my name & info. I expect this will also go on the "gentleman's" record. I know these people have a lot to deal with at that stage of the security check and can be a bit gruff. I have never dealt with anyone that yelled at me like that or denied me my rights.
Now that is good service.

Ah, the shopping trip has been put on hold. I started working on taking wallpaper off the wall and discovered a little damage that had been mostly repaired in the past but will require a little fixing from me, nothing I can't do, but a little extra work. I did check under the carpet in a few places. The floor looks great. But - I realized I have a ton of work to do before I'm ready for furniture and the first thing they are going to want is a delivery date. It occurred to me that I would be silly to put that much pressure on myself when there will be other sales. So, I'm going to wait.

Edith didn't want my spare bed after all. Which is very lucky because my nephew is looking for a queen sized bed for their guest room. I offered one free if they'd find a way to get it there and they said yes!. I have a feeling Sundee's parents will be here next weekend to pick it up so they can sleep on it when they go there for Thanksgiving, but maybe not. Getting the bed out of that room will make it much easier to get the work done

DR Jose - I did take the measurements. Unfortunately I discovered that I wouldn't be able to get the sleeper sofa that was majorly on sale in the room. I was seriously considering it. That's the other reason I'm waiting. I'm sort of changing my mind about what I want in there, so I'll shop around and wait. Thanks Vixter :D I really am surprised I let him intimidate me like that. It really was the entire situation was so shocking and he mentioned something about new equipment which made me doubt myself. I won't let that happen again and in some ways it was a good learning experience. At least I was on the way home where I knew I could get more medicine.
I searched the drug website & it does say the x-ray machine "might" be a problem so I think I'm safe to use it until I can talk to someone at the drug company tomorrow.

One interesting thing about today's trip to Lima: we drove the rental car that our insurance is providing while Rob's car is in the hospital. It's a Kia Sorrento - bigger than anything I've ever driven. I drove about halfway home and then let Richard take over to drive through Dayton's construction zone. It has satellite radio and we enjoyed the On Broadway station, which is kind of like having your iPod on shuffle without a menu. I knew most of the selections, but some were unfamiliar and I'd have liked to have them identified.
I have a screen that identifies the songs along with the singer or band. The problem is they usually don't show the entire names & I often have to guess the rest of the name. If there is more than one name it will read Bing Crosby/J Now who the heck is J and couldn't they have typed Bing along with the second name. Or it will be B Crosby/ While the last name where there was only one Bing. It drives me up a wall.

I'll will know tonight if the injection pen works properly & the little sting feels normal. Tomorrow when I call the company I will know if it was safe to have done the shot. I think if it was a serious problem there would be more warnings about it. I am definitely going to have the drug company send me an official letter about this.
I think I'm more annoyed at myself for being a wus but one does hear stories of what happens if you protest.

Let's see... Anyone who meet up with Mom last week will know I was an extra in the school comedy, Heaven Can Wait, about... I think it was last weekend, but somehow, I can't remember time distences any more. O_O It went off sucsessfully... The next day. We got maybe two laughs the first day, and you could see how stressed we all got, because the queen bee *@%^#-ed alot more at us in the dressing room to "shut the front door". And how could he be so right. He didn't even know what the meds were or look at the letter. In truth the letter from the doctor doesn't say it shouldn't go through the machine, not that it should matter. It is my understanding anyone can request a hand inspection for any item. The supervisor read the letter and suggested I get that fact included. I think a letter from the drug company will be better though the guy didn't care when I told him the drug company & not the doctor said not to put it through the x-ray.
I'm not upset about it anymore but I assure you I will be filing a complaint. I'm sorry I didn't get the guys names or the supervisor who was so nice.

Back from Maplewood, NJ, I had a horrid fight with two employees of New Jersey Transit who were rude and complete and utter pigs on the way out to Maplewood. I may call NJ Transit and file a complaint. That's all I will say for now, but it was a humiliating and needlessly ugly situation. Ithink Bruce Pomahac is also going to lodge a complaint.
After an unpleasant ride, Maplewood was a delight: a small town looking much like Central Avenue in my hometown 50 years ago, with a nice stationery shop, a toy store, bookshop, several nice restaurants, and Bruce and I had fun walking about and wndow shopping until we met his friend Carol, who choreographed the show, at a wonderful restaurant - Lorena's, Lenora's, Leona's - where we had a delicious lunch. The show is in its thrid of four weekends and the house was very light today. They had the full band, and it was quite good; there were a couple of shaky flute notes in "Things Are Gonna Be Changing Around Here," but the reed player was a good player. I met the band before the show and they loved the charts and the music. Bruce, as a representative of Rodgers & Hammerstein, was happy there were no prblems or wrong notes in the books.
As to the show, the small audience loved it and I liked a lot of the cast, especially Donna, Rod, the Brain, and General Mills. The actors playing Yoni and Zubrick got lots of laughs, and the Zubrick was closer to the source in PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE than to Cason, but their scenes got lots of laughs. Joyce was good, too, very Barbara Billingsley in apron and pearls, and I wish Fred had had more of a handsome Daddy look, like Hugh Beaumont. He had a few pitch problems, too. Everyone I met - and I didn't get to meet everyone - seemd to love the show and their good time was contagious.

Before he opened the safe where the lost stuff is kept, he asked me what they looked like - I said amber/brown with amber lenses and more square-shaped than rounded or thin - he asked me if I remembered the brand and I said probably not but Tom Ford was coming to mind. When he showed me the baggie, there they were, just as described and, best of all, Tom Ford.

Well, I went to the event. I'm glad I did. There was a gift bag with $55 worth of gift certificates and a 10% off at the meat shop. And a nice Ornament. I had to wait awhile for my salesman. He's quite possessive and got a little ticked at another salesman who tried to wait on me one day. Anyway, i didn't buy anything, but found out the sleeper sofa that is on clearance is in their clearance store It's a full size, which would be nice for the room. The clearance store is only open on weekends but Kyle will take me there during the week if I call him. It's new and about 1/2 price. It's basic beige. I'm going to take a look at it. I decided that since it will be used as a sofa much more than a bed, this will be better than a futon. Futons aren't as comfortable to sit on,.

The low point was when one of the two conductors on the train - the stupid fat one - threatened to throw us off the train because the rude black lady conductor with the chip on her shoulder claimed I had called her a sack of shit. What I had actually said to her, after her offensive comment about NJ Transit policies concerning the restrooms, was that her comment was a crock of shit.
They made complete fools of themselves, behaving much more badly than I did. Bruce's comment was tat he wished they had treid to throw us off the train because then the police would have had to be involved and everyone'snames could have been taken and I'd have recourse to sue the fat ass on Judge Judy!

So... I went to hear the Greenwich Village Orchestra play earlier this afternoon. My friend, Brendan, just started playing with them (second violin). It was a very nice and relatively short program. Bruch's Violin Concerto in the first half, and Vaughan-Williams' "London" Symphony in the second half. I'm always a little wary of attending concerts by pick-up orchestras, but, I have to say that I was quite surprised with the level of playing. And what the auditorium at the Washington Irving School lacks in aesthetics, it more than makes up for in acoustics. Good sound, good music.

I've been reading the official regulations and they are:
Medication and related supplies are normally X-rayed. However, as a customer service, TSA now allows you the option of requesting a visual inspection of your medication and associated supplies.
* You must request a visual inspection before the screening process begins; otherwise your medications and supplies will undergo X-ray inspection.
* If you would like to take advantage of this option, please have your medication and associated supplies separated from your other property in a separate pouch/bag when you approach the Security Officer at the walk-through metal detector.
* Request the visual inspection and hand your medication pouch/bag to the Security Officer.
* In order to prevent contamination or damage to medication and associated supplies and/or fragile medical materials, you will be asked at the security checkpoint to display, handle, and repack your own medication and associated supplies during the visual inspection process.
* Any medication and/or associated supplies that cannot be cleared visually must be submitted for X-ray screening. If you refuse, you will not be permitted to carry your medications and related supplies into the sterile area.
I think holding the bag in front of me and stating it can't go through the x-ray was an official request. That is exactly what I did in Medford and they politely took it from me.

It was a very nice to spend the afternoon. It was also a nice "excuse" to leave my apartment for a few hours. -And, as an added bonus, they had a reception afterwards with cheese platters, crudités, sandwiches and wine - Free Dinner! :)

Indeed, last night in Portland was a blast! It was so wonderful to see DRs Jane, George, JMK and his beautiful wife Betsy!
BK was a delight and his show/talk was so much fun! JMK did a great job moderating. Someone in the audience had thought that the whole thing was rehearsed, but it wasn't ...it just really went that smoothly.
I loved seeing all the clips...most I had seen before...but somehow seeing scenes from THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY and THE CREATURE WASN'T NICE was much more fun with an audience.

Yes, I had just a few episodes of getting slightly off course while driving DR Jane and myself to the SHARI'S restaurant, leaving from JMK's house. What would normally have been about a 3 mile, 5 minute drive took us just a bit over 20 minutes...give or take 15 minutes 8)
But the two of us saw a LOT more of Lake Oswego (the town JMK lives in) then we ever would have, had I not taken that wrong turn. So there really is an upside.

Once Jane and I found the exit to 217 (I knew where it was, I just couldn't seem to find my way there) it was smooth sailing...well, except for my taking the Barnes Road exit instead of the highway 26 exit. But the upside to that is that we got to see a lot more of Barnes Road then we ever would have if I had....oh, never mind.

Actually, 6th Avenue doesn't really look like Broadway, except for the tall buildings.
We had passed Broadway, which is the street that BK's hotel, THE HEATHMAN, was on but it is a one way street going south...we needed to go north to get to his hotel which was at the corner of Broadway and Salmon. So we took the next street that went south, which was 6th...only problem was that while I was searching for Salmon I somehow got distracted by the pretty lights of downtown Portland and forgot that we were on 6th...at some point I was thinking that we were already on Broadway. I blame it on the humongous amounts of food I ate, particularly the stuffed hash browns and pancakes and bacon and sausage.
But the upside is that BK got to see a lot more of 6th St at night then he ever would have....

I've had a hellacious evening. Not bad, just intense. I heard the first ten tracks of the master and wasn't so happy with it. When they do these three-track mixdowns they put SECTIONS of the band on the three channels - this they do so the film mixers have some control on the mixing stage, but Carrie was a mono film so we can't get what you'd call a true stereo mix from these three tracks - we've done it many times before, however, and we've always created a pleasing sound because the instruments are where they are and don't change.
But in Carrie, the instruments occasionally do change what track they're on and when you're editing cues together it becomes, while not terrible, a little distracting. Most people would neither notice or care, but unfortunately I do and I do. So, I think I'm probably going to do what I did not want to do - go from the sixteen-track session tapes and remix it all - but I don't know a) how possible it is, and b) if we've got everything on the ten reels of two-inch tape I have that's on the thirteen reels of half-inch tape that we used. If we do, and if it seems like it's not going to be horrendously hard, and if my engineer is available to do it in the next three days, then I'll pop for the dough and do it. I'll know the entire story tomorrow. Luckily, when I set my shipping dates it's always five to six weeks down the line, just for situations like this. So, even if the master doesn't get to the plant for another two weeks, we'll still have discs a week or two ahead of the official ship date, so that's no problem.

So we had our big conference this weekend. Things did not go as smoothly in the meeting as we had hoped. I felt like I had been hit by a truck by the time it was over. Someone wanted to amend a document by changing about 90% of it.

I am still alive but barely in the aspect of spiritually. The only positive thing of this fall is that I am enjoying my class. I am still struggling against my supervisor who is threatening me with my job due to my hearing loss. It has not been pleasant and the bullying for the last year by her and her boss is really getting old. I a mentally worn out from that and I do not sleep at night because of it.

I keep hoping that the new university president will see the light and do some housecleaning espeically if he is truly earnest about ending the abuse adn bullying of the staff...

I feel so demoralized I am not the only person in the library that has been bullied. It has reopened old wounds I thought were buried. I was a victim of bullying in elementary and high school due ot my hearing.
There are days I cry myslef to sleep

NDSU's approach to filing a greivance is incredibly complicated that a lawyer even questioned its legality because of the loopholes. There is a lack of interest with HR and Academic affairs to look after the welfare of their employees. the VP of Academic Affairs told the library staff when we have treid to complain about the abuse stated" We hired her to shut you old bitches up."
I have tried but with liimited luck... It would be an accomplishment if they complied with ADA

the new president states he wants to clean things up and bring the staff more into planning of the university and ending bullying and intimiidation.... I dont really beleive him because of what I have been through. I am seriously surprised that no one has flipped out yet. People in the library are near their breaking point.
