Loved the pictures from DR GEORGE yesterday.

Thanks for the NJ BRAINEX report, DR ELMORE.....sorry about your transportation ordeal.

And vibes for DR JANE - maybe he was having a bad day....and decided to pick on the next person who was in line....or maybe he had just lost a dollar in the vending machine and didn't get his coffee.

My guess is most of the cast of THE LAST STARFIGHTER loved getting the gifts and ONE fool didn't - the one with a computer....

I have found cards and small gifts I have given to cast members left in the dressing room or in THE TRASH on closing night....which is fine, I usually don't cast those people again.  And it is usually people who thought they should have had the lead or a BIG part - when they were LUCKY to be in the ensemble, it was mercy casting anyway.....

If someone that I don't like gives me a card or a gift - I say thank you - and throw it away at home....or if it is unique, I keep it, for itself.....not for the giver.

Good morning, all! My only pressing matter is a meeting at 11:30 at the Frank Loesser offcie. I do have a US post office stop to send a carton of CDs to my brother's house so I don't have to schlep it on the plane.

DR Dakotacelt, it was so good to see you on last night's posts, but I am sorry to learn this harassment and ugliness is still continuing. Get a small recording device and tape every conversation with these asses, also call the Civil Liberties Union. I think they'd love this case.

I have nothing else to report at the moment so let us move on to the TOD:
THE REF
CHRISTMAS STORY
ELF

DR George, 1776 gave me a start and then I realized, yes, it is a holiday! Good for you. Now what the world needs is a really good movie for Valentine's Day or for Thanksgiving.

DR JMK - thanks for the picture of the dog AND Miss Baker on the Saturday Evening Post cover.....I commented on it a couple of times, but I guess you didn't see it.

DR MBARNUM - every time I go to King's Island in Ohio.....I make it a tri-state trip and end up across the river in Kentucky.

Yes, Laura, it is called Scrooge and it stars Albert Finney. I love that movie.

It was also turned into a stage production in 1992 in England starring Anthony Newley with music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse

About the posts FJL refers to at that site:

I'm hoping that one day someone sues DataLounge for the names of these people - the precedent has now been set twice for such a thing to happen (both cases the sites were compelled to give the names and e-mail addresses of the offending parties) - in fact, someone should take that vile, negative, and worthless place down.

Sorry to read about DR Elmore's train-pain last night.  Right now, I am in love with the conductor on my Philly-bound train after work.  In my eight months of train commuting, she is the first and only conductor to ever enforce the rules on the Quiet Car.  She has no problem with going up to the loudly chatting people and telling them to be quiet and to go after cell phone idiots.  Of course, some people will be childish and make comments about her behind her back, but so far she's kept the Quiet Car quiet...

I'm so sorry to hear that such a nice person as DKCelt is being bullied. That sounds like a horrible situation; I hope it is resolved soon! Hugs and vibes!

Speaking of bullying, the Cartoon Network has been shooting anti-bullying spots any time they can get someone famous who's in town who carries some weight with the viewers. Greg worked on a spot this week with the singer Ne-Yo. He said e-Yo was super nice, showed up early, and was polite to everyone and did whatever anyone asked, including removing his sunglasses. Coincidentally, they were Tom Ford sunglasses, as mentioned in bk's post. He had to take them off because you could read the name "Tom Ford" on the lens. We both wondered why anyone would put their name on the actual LENS! That would bug me if it was in my line of sight.

DR Laura odds are you won't need a pat-down unless you are carrying something that sets off the alarms.  I carry a piece inside me that does usually sets off the alarms.  Now just carrying that darn liquid medication gets me pulled out of line.  In Medford they went through my luggage too.  In Portland they concentrated on the pat-down & the obnoxious security checker.

And how *exactly* did you swallow a gun?

;D  It really was funny in Medford, our small airport here, to see the "dangerous" old people like myself get pat-downs.

Quote
Exposure to x-rays & extreme heat may affect the quality of the medication

Apparently the machines generate heat.  Since my ice packs were still frozen & the meds well packed I should be ok, they don't know for sure.  I hope so since I will continue to use it.

Many, many years ago (about '83 or '84), a local station showed AIRPORT '77 in two parts and, perhaps to fill out the alloted time, they tinkered with the film speed just a tad to slow it up.  The problem was that they didn't adjust the pitch of the sound.  So all of the female actors sounded like they were men (yes, even Ms Vacarro.)  I'm pretty sure I still have a snippet of that recorded on VHS.

What is the quiet car? I've never heard of such a thing. Can you not make any noise at all?

And I forgot "Groundhog Day."  I love this movie!  I can't wait for Sondheim's musical version!!

;)
I love that movie, too. But I don't think Sondheim is still working on the musical version, though I could have heard wrong. Sad, because it could have been great.

No, you didn't hear wrong.  It was a joke.  I think I remember hearing/reading that Sondheim had never really worked on it...he said something like it was the kind of movie that he'd like to turn into a musical.

I just put a hold on a storage unit for Craig to use when he arrives.  He is pulling a 5x8x5 trailer & the unit is 5x10x9.  The slightly extra room in the unit should also hold the stuff he is currently storing here.  We are looking forward to cleaning out our garage.

Craig should have begun his trip sometime today.  I hope the weather is better than predicted during the drive & the trip is without mishap.

Ricky goes to the vet on Wednesday eve to prep for his surgery Thurs AM.   I could drop him off on Thursday morning, but it's really hard to keep him away from the food while he's in the house and still have it out for Callie and Boo.   He'll be ok for one night.  Then he'll be neutered and can come home and recover,

I suggest putting Ricky & his carrier in the car & making a quick run back into the house to put Boo & Callie's food down before you leave.

It's not that easy.  There is food in the kitchen, food in the livingroom, food in the bedrooms upstairs ....lol....the girls are night feeders and would howl if I didn't leave their food out all night.  It's easier to just take him out the night before.   He really doesn't mind it there.  I'd rather know he didn't get  into food I accidentally forgot to put away and to have complications during surgery

The vet prefers bringing him in the night before and doesn't charge extra for it

I would not do that unless I had no other choice.

Hmmm I'll have to think about it, but the days he's spent there really haven't phased him.   Being bopped on the head by Callie and Boo has slowed hin down a bit

Lord what a day.  I haven't stopped, and now I have to go sup.  But basically, we've decided to transfer the ten reels of two-inch sixteen track tapes for Carrie and do a proper stereo remix from scratch - it's insanity, but it's a very important release and I just can't do it this other sort of half-ass way - it sounded excellent and most people would be fine with it, but not me - if it was consistent in its sound placement, I'd live with it, but I cannot deal with strings that switch from three-channel stereo to one channel mono, which happened on ten of the tracks.

This is an expensive move, but it's selling very well so I think we'll be fine.  It pushes us up uncomfortably close to our ship date of third week of December, but the hope is that we'll have CDs by the tenth.  We're mixing on Thursday, then finishing next Tuesday.

Did I just see that ad already?  Or was this a different one?

The final window is composed of various Illy Caffe products: cans, filters, cups, etc.

Yeah, there's no real food in the windows. They're focusing on the Celebrity Chefs and Food Network Hosts.  -However, the "Boys" window does feature some food items - including some splattered eggs. ;)

Jane would be so proud of me - when I left work ( at 11 PM)  I resisted the urge  to drive thorugh Taco Bell and instead came home and made myslef a veggie burger topped with a generous slice of roasted red pepper

(and one teeny tiny paper thin slice of muenster cheese)

MOM is not happy with the doctor - she wants him to say  she can drive -- everyone has explained to her  thatBY LAW she is not able to drive until she has  gone one full year without exhibiting signs of another seizure

This was one of the special "joys" of Comic Con.

  ::)

It was so chilly in there, I'm surprised that this girl didn't catch pneumonia.

BTW: So there will be no misunderstanding, I did not take this picture.  It was sent to me.

  :)

Well I do admire her self confidence......

Back from a nice dinner - I hadn't eaten so we went to Casa Vega where I more than made up for a three-meal day.  Boy was it good!  I really have to get to bed early tonight and sleep in tomorrow.

Thanks, Sam. Forgot about "Bad Santa." While not a favorite favorite, I enjoy watching it most every Christmas, along with "Ice Harvest," a holiday noir with plenty of guts and gore. It's a Billy Bob Thornton holiday double feature! And who could ask for anything more!

That was easy department: just went and played about 2.5 songs for a restaurant manager at a cool historic building in Oregon City and now have a new regular gig several nights a week.  Plus, it's e-a-r-l-y--happy hour, more or less, so I'll be done by 7:30-ish.  Love that.

Congrats, Jeff!
