Well, you've read the notes, the notes were so tired that boy were there arms tired - oops, wrong punch line - and how it is time for you to post until the tired cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WEAL!
-
BK, I would've liked to have gone to your event yesterday, just to watch and listen. And I'd love to know "what songs they would prefer never to hear again as long as they live." ;)
-
A woman that I work with has taken an audition class from Dinah Manoff in Seattle. My co-worker loved it. Dinah's giving another one in December. I'd like to go, but unless something horrible happens I'm going to be working the light board for a production of "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol (http://olympialittletheater.org/season2010-2011.html#Jacob)" that opens that weekend, so there wouldn't be enough time to go to Seattle for the workshop and get back to Olympia in time. :-\
-
How tired am I? VERY tired! But we had a very fun day: nice brunch at our favorite Larchmont Bungalow, then off to Van Nuys where our friend Matt was shooting some promos to TBS. I hadn't known he was going to be in town; he got in touch after reading the article about Ron Howard in our film and we realized we were both in LA at the same time, and we're flying back on the same flight; pretty funny! It was fun to see the shoot---big budget operation! Then we talked to bk and made a date for M & F. I forgot to look for Randy Newman's star on the walk of fame, which is right in front of the restaurant. We had a great dinner-- way too much but it was so yummy---and sparkling conversation and brainstorming about a potentially future project that we were all excited about. It would be great if we could make it happen!
Then off to Amoeba, where I exercised remarkable restraint and only bought a few things, and then went with our friend Susan over to meet another friend who wanted dinner. She wanted dessert, he had a big steak and fries and we had drinks. The restaurant was pretty fancy but everyone there was very friendly. It was called Bouchon, and looked like it had a very nice menu and it was a pretty setting.
Now we're ready to crash, and then meet a writer friend in the AM for brunch. He's a former Atlantan and I miss him a lot so it will be great to see him!
Nytol!

Good morning, al!! I was up at 5:05 instead of waiting for thr 5:30 alarm. I'm on my first cup of coffee. Around 6:30, I'll walk over to the bank and get some travel cash, come back here and finalize the packing, and make the bed. I don't want to walk too much around the apartment and possibly disturb the wonderful neighbor below me. Once the bed is made, I'll turn off the computer and head out.
I am excited about the vacation for several reasons:
1. I have eight days away from the Oaf!
2. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the few friends I have left in Ohio
3. I love going over to Miami University
4. I have eight days away from the Oaf!
5. I'm looking forward to seeing a few cousins and other relatives
6. Can't wait to see my nephew, nieces, and grandnephews and grandnieces
7. I have eight days away from the Oaf!
8. I love my sister-in-law's cooking
9. The Macbeths are out of town
10. I have eight days away from the Oaf!
DR vixmom, great photos!
DR edisaurus, I'm happy you're having a faboo time in LA!
DR Der Brucer, I'm happy to know you are okay!
BK, I look forward to the cast recording announcement! I may not be able to access Paypal while I'm gone so you may have to hold onto a copy till my return. I'm happy the event went well, but I understand your frustrations about the students' attendance.
DR Nursie, I hope everything involving Craig's arrival proceeds smoothly!
I know I'm forgetting things I wanted to post, but I'm old.

Morning all.
That is all.

Glad to hear you and BK could hook up Amy!
Larry, I hope you're feeling better. Flying while ill is no fun.
Thank you, DR Ben! I do feel better, although I have a bit of congestion this morning and need to blow my nose!
-
The nose is blown. Don't feel much improvement.
I'm having some oatmeal with cranberries and walnuts, and I did remember to pack some work. I'm taking Jerome Moross' BALLET BALLADS, which needs a final proof. I've been promising it to the composer's daughter for about six months now. I guess Victor Herbert got in the way.
Speaking of Victor Herbert, Alyce Mott has a monthly Victor Herbert newsletter and she did a lovely article about the recording for her November issue. If you'd like to be a subscriber, you can sign up for it here:

If you'd like to read the article, let me know and I can send you a pdf when I get back.

Morning, all.
-
How tired am I? Too tired. I couldn't get to sleep last night and am up too early because the bell choir is playing this morning. Will likely nod off during the sermon. (Sorry, Pastor.)

Travel vibes for DRs Edisaurus, Elmore and all on the road (air roads, too).

I am used to being tired.

Travel vibes for DR ELMORE as he heads for the Wild West.

Travel vibes for DR Elmore. I hope you don't have a TSA story for us when you get back.

Just think DR Elmore soon you will have a lifetime away from the oaf!
Travel vibes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am glad it's Free-For-All-Day because I feel very free today. For all.

Good morning!
Travel vibes to DR elmore!
-
We watched THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT last night.
Excellent movie!
I figure that either Annette Benning or Julianne Moore will take home the Best Actress Oscar this year.
Personally, I'd call it a tie.
-
Excellent travel vibes to DR Elmore and those who need them today.
It's raining here in the bay area, it's a great rain, I love it!!!
The sun sets on Sunset today. I'm very happy with the work, and since I know this piece and I will meet again, there is no sadness, just a sense of great joy and accomplishment.
More later...

I worked on this powerpoint presentation only to find out you can't add music to powerpoint. So I imported it into Keynote where you can add music. Then I had to time the slides to the music. I fiddlle with the timing for the time between the slides and the mosiac special effect when the slide appears. It was very frustating since I'm am not familar with either program. I ended up deleting one slide and the music and the powerpoint/keynote presentation are happily married.

THE BORDERS IN BOCA RATON IS CLOSING DOWN.
I wonder how many other stores are going that way?

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's Sunday... The Sunday before Thanksgiving! (YIKES?!?!)

I hope DR elmore is already safe and sound in Ohio. -And that he enjoyed his TSA pat-down. ;)

DR edisaurus - You went to Bouchon (http://www.bouchonbistro.com/)?!?!? :) :) :) :)
Yes, it is my friend Susan's favorite restaurant. But I was so full from the salad I had with bk that I couldn't eat anything, just had a beer and stole a french fry from Jacques. Everything looked yummy, tho!
-
Oh, I got Elmore's message there, too! Thanks for the travel vibes, Elmore and everybody!

From John G:
Kingsolver used to be one of my favorite writers. But her recent novels, like "Prodigal Summer" and "Poisonwood Bible," were so pedantic that they were laughable in spots. But her "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" marked a return to form and "Lacuna" has some powerful moments. But if you don't want to read something, well, you just don't want to read it. It's one of the reasons I dropped out of my book club. One vapid member, who only found her opinions from reading reviews, kept picking the most dreadful books.
Fortunately just because I don't want to read something doesn't always mean I don't end up enjoying the book. Often I'm grateful for having read it. I'm not a big fan of Kingsolver to begin with, not that I necessarily dislike her.
Since the person hosting picks the book we have a good variety from month to month & the will of one person isn't pressed on the rest of the group.

How tired was I? Tired enough to sleep until eleven-thirty! Wow.
-
It poured rain through the night - really hard so it was even and not weird-sounding on the monstrosity - I only got up once during the night because it was really coming down. Of course, now the sun is out, hence LA.
-
Guess I'll deliver a box o' CDs soon and then write a blurb.
-
Well, dear readers, I am so tired – how tired are you – I am so tired that I fell out of bed and broke my pyjamas. Oops, wrong joke.
I would love to know the actual joke. I think.

THE BORDERS IN BOCA RATON IS CLOSING DOWN.
I wonder how many other stores are going that way?
Five years from now, with the possible exception of used or specialty book stores, all brick/mortar book stores will be gone.
That's the power of Amazon.
-
We are having our first snow flurry of the season. And "flurry" would be stretching it.
-
I've used audio files in Power Point. Granted, it's not simply intuitive but I've used them.

I am glad it's Free-For-All-Day because I feel very free today. For all.
At least I can afford free.

We went e-book shopping today as a possible Christmas gift to me.
I thought I would like it but after trying it out
I HATE THE NOOK
It is absolutely non-user friendly and it's a huge pain in the butt to use. I've crossed it off my list. I'm still trying to find a Kindle that works at the Best Buy. The store on 23rd Street had two different models but they cannot get them to work and after screwing around with the Nook I don't want to buy one unless I can play with it and see how it works.
I do like the Sony eReader. I don't much care for the Literati or the Pandigital. The Kobo is OK but feels cheap.
We shall see.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings!
How tired am I? Well, when my alarm went off at 5:20 this morning, I'd already been up and started the coffee so that it was ready for me when my 10-minute snooze was over. We arrived home from Lima about half an hour ago after I drove the rented Kia Sorento all the way. It's the biggest vehicle I've ever driven.
Do I take a walk or a nap before Improv-Ice comes on in an hour?
-
The above was sent to me by DR TCB. :)
Hmm, I hope you were able to see the photo.
-
Yes I did thank you. I was pleasantly surprised I could share the laughing kitty.
-
Shortly after Craig made the decision to stay put & returned from the market chains were no longer required. A part of him thinks he should have gone for it. Hopefully he can come home tomorrow. It still doesn't look good.

Greetings from Ohio! No pat-down at LaGuardia; only American Airlines has it, so US Air is still on the old "put shoes, all metal objectsin the basket" scan.
I've been to the pharmacy for Claritin D for my allergies to the dogs, been brought up to date with my family, and Jo and I are watching movies on the Lifetime "all men are scum" Channel.
Thanks for the vibes! I like my rental car, a Nissan.

DR JohnG - Yep, Keller expanded to Beverly Hills. -And I do love Bouchon Bakery here in NYC at the Time-Warner Center - although, I'm still puzzled by the policy of not selling the baked good available from the bakery counter in the adjoining cafe area. ???

I wonder if I would like a kindle (or similar item). I just really like holding books! Maybe I should try one at a store.

I am going out for chinese food. I wish it was time to go because I am starving. Funny but I was going out for dinner with my aunt and uncle. And I chose chinese. I knew my sister was probably going out for her husband's birthday. But didn't know where they would go. It turns out they chose the same place. Not sure if they were going to invite us before (he doesn't really like big dinners). It sort of sounded like they were going to. But since we were all going to the same place we are all going together.
The good part is that my aunt wanted to go at 7pm. I wanted to go at 6pm. But since my sis was going at 6:15pm that is the time we will go for.
-
I felt so bad. My niece called me at 11:30am and asked if i could come over to help her make a bead necklace she had gotten as a loot bag that morning. Except when I got there my niece was crying hysterically and she was told that she would not be allowed to play beads at all today. She had dropped the case on the floor and all the beads had fallen out.
I know my sister had told her not to touch it. But I"m just easy like that. I would still have let her play with the beads. So she spent 15 minutes crying her little eyes out. She was so upset because she had wanted to play with them so much. :(
-
I only see a red x.
-
I hope that i'll be home in time to watch The Amazing Race. Oh well it won't hurt if I start a bit late.
-
What happens to ice cream in the fridge. I know if you leave it out it would turn into soup. But does it stay at all ice cream like. Or does it become completely inedible?
-
I went to the dollar store because i ran out of scrapbooking tape/glue. Unfortunately they didn't have any. There are 5 or 6 versions of this store in a few mile radius. So i decided to go to another one. I have 20 scrapbooking pages all over my dining room table. So i really needed the tape/glue. Luckily the second store had it.
They do sell some interesting Christmas stuff at the dollar store. I got my niece a bunch of Christmas book and 1 even had a cd (for a dollar). You can't beat that.

One of the many, many irritating things at Bouchon. They do the same in Napa.
-
Delivered CDs and must now eat something. I also wrote the blurb for tomorrow's announcement, and will shortly choose the audio samples and get those off.

Pasta! It's what was for dinner!
YUM!

And now...
I'm off to one more vocal recital tonight that a friend of mine is accompanying. Should be a nice variety of musical theatre and classical selections.

I think your sister is right if she said don't touch. She is being at least as hard on herself as on your niece.

Overnight it is usually soupy. I often put ice cream in the frig for about half an hour if I can't eat it right away.

I wonder if I would like a kindle (or similar item). I just really like holding books! Maybe I should try one at a store.
When they figure out how to have a good back-light for reading at night I will consider getting one. This last hardcover I read was simply too big & heavy with the result I rushed through it. Maybe by this time next year my shoulder will be strong enough but for now I must stop bringing home large books from the library & wait for the paperbacks to be released.

Welcome to Ohio, DR Elmore - call us!

THE BORDERS IN BOCA RATON IS CLOSING DOWN.

Downtown PDX as well. No offense to TD, but I decided a long time ago never to shop there again--horrible customer service and lousy selection once they got rid of CDs/DVDs.

Speaking of aunts, my aunt Lily passed away yesterday. I first heard this news from my cousin Dee Dee, who isn't even a part of that part of the family (she's married to my cousin on my father's side of the family). I finally heard it from someone who IS a part of the family, so I'll probably go down to Culver City for the funeral on Tuesday morning.
-
Sorry to hear about your Aunt Lily, BK.
-
Bruce, condolences on the passing of your aunt.

Condolences to MR BK on the passing of his aunt.

Lovely pictures from DR derBRUCER.
Glad to hear that DR ELMORE made it to HO HI HO in one piece.
TAR should be only slightly delayed tonight.....

I have not been to a Borders in many years.....but there are still one or two in the Indy area.

Only celebration needed for the aunt. She was 103 years old - nothing sad about it - an amazingly long and excellent life.

I am tired for no good reason whatsoever.

No :) It was the cat that laughed and stuck out its tongue.
I thought so. It is a bitmap, and I don't know how to post that from Photobucket.

Wonderful that your Aunt had such a long life and that you can celebrate her.

Wonderful that your aunt had such a long and lovely life
I am still sorry for the loss to your family

How tired am I? Actually I should be more tired than I am. This morning I woke up about 7:30 thanks to Ricky. I got up and had coffee with Paul. Then I decided to go look at TVs again and ended up getting a tv and blu-ray. I got a great deal and am very excited about it. I set it up in the room and I like it. Then I moved my old recliner up there and watched a little of this and that. I am really going to like this.
-
Then I did more laundry - the rest of the bedding from the former guest room - baked chocolate chip cookies, brushed the cats and now I'm relaxing. Funny, my neck really hurt this morning, but the more I kept moving the better I felt.
-
The guy in Walmart was much like the guy at Sams. They both got the Black Friday ads and we looked through it to see if I would possibly get a deal if I came back. I could get the tv with internet aps cheaper, but wouldn't have a blu-ray or any sort of dvd player. So it really wouldn't be any cheaper. I was glad to hear that

Page 4? I mean really? Page 4?

Seriously?

Thanks Cilla, now I want a chocolate chip cookie.

Ok. This is a dumb question. But are regular DVDs obsolete now?

Haagen-Dazs yogurt was nice, but it didn't make me alert.

Ok. This is a dumb question. But are regular DVDs obsolete now?
Not at all or we would have a blu-ray.
-
Haagen-Dazs yogurt was nice, but it didn't make me alert.
Coffee flavored might have. Does it come in coffee?
-
Do most libraries have ebooks? I have never heard of that here.
-
I got home at about 8:25pm. So I was able to watch TAR a bit late. Interesting show!

I'm not switching until something better comes out.

It seems more and more libraries are offering them. You might ask if you library has any plans to do so. I had no idea our library system did until the Nook salesman told me.
-
DVDs are not obsolete and blu-ray players play them fine.
-
Spent the last two hours getting everything ready for tonight's announcement - blurb, audio samples, and asking for a major change (but an easy one) to the liner notes, which were written by the co-author of the show. I knew something was bugging me about the notes and then after proofing them today finally realized what it was - they're in the third person, as if someone other than the co-author had written them. Who was/is this phantom third person person? So, I went through and made it first person - hoping they like it, but it reads much better now.
-
Speaking of aunts, my aunt Lily passed away yesterday. I first heard this news from my cousin Dee Dee, who isn't even a part of that part of the family (she's married to my cousin on my father's side of the family). I finally heard it from someone who IS a part of the family, so I'll probably go down to Culver City for the funeral on Tuesday morning.
Sincere condolences.
-
Nothing from MBarnum today. I hope he is feeling better.
-
Thanks Cilla, now I want a chocolate chip cookie.
:)
-
I'm sorry to hear about your aunt, BK. But wow, what a long life!
-
Ok. This is a dumb question. But are regular DVDs obsolete now?
A blu-ray will play regular DVDs but a regular DVD player won't play blu-ray. I wanted a DVD player upstairs because there isn't any cable, so I decided to go ahead and get a blu-ray since I didn't have one

We are having our first snow flurry of the season. And "flurry" would be stretching it.
It's been snowing here all day, but it doesn't look like it'll stick. Our first snow of the season!! ;D

I have a Blu-Ray player, but 99% of what I play on it are regular DVDs.

It already has--3D Blu-ray. ;D

Not only are DVDs *not* obsolete, if you have connected your BD player to your TV with HDMI, your DVDs will upconvert to the highest native resolution your TV can support. They won't look as good as BDs, but they'll look a lot sharper than they ever did on your Standard Def DVD player and TV.
-
Assuming, of course, that your BD player upconverts, which about 99.999% of them do now.
-
I might just add by way of shameless shilling that http://blu-ray.com has a really comprehensive FAQ section for new Blu-ray consumers. ;)

A woman that I work with has an iPad with a Kindle app...as well as several other e-reader apps. She used to have a Kindle but it dropped onto the floor from her kitchen table and broke. Not that her iPad can't drop, but the iPad can do much more than a Kindle.

Today's Insane Prospective New Tenant Department: this guy emails me late last night about the house. I call him today. He can barely speak English and then asks why I am bothering to call him now when he emailed me several weeks ago. I mention that he emailed me yesterday, and he then says, "Oh, you're the one with the house for sale." And I tell him, "No, we can do a lease to own or sell, but the ad was for a lease." And he goes ballistic telling me that he *knows* I'm "the one with the house for sale." Thank you and good-bye! :)

Only celebration needed for the aunt. She was 103 years old - nothing sad about it - an amazingly long and excellent life.
That's a wonderful attitude. I lost a friend this week who was 10 years younger, and her 93 years were certainly cause for celebration.

Spaghetti sounds wonderful. With clams. My diabetes, however, prevents me from having it but about once a year. Maybe that should be my Thanksgiving feast this week.

If you mean Blu-ray players, absolutely. There are a number of electronics stores represented.
-
And if you mean Blu-rays themselves, you may recall this madness all started when I mentioned Barnes & Noble was having a 50% off Criterion sale (including BDs), and that ebates was offering 8% cashback on your purchase.
-
I bought several of those Criterion movies including the early Lubitsch musicals four-movie set. Haven't had a chance to watch them yet.
-
I wish I was home long enough each day to have a kitty. :'(
-
Warm and cozy wishes to everyone. ;D
-
I spent the morning at surfers point to listen to the ocean. You could see Catalina and all the islands off the coast. Very pretty.
-
Thanksgiving day is a work day for us from 5am to 1pm. Then a 3 day weekend. Yea.
-
Joined the astronomy club. The meetings are once a month, (on the way home from work for me) and the topics for the meetings are very good. (over my head when the diagrams and charts hit the screen, but oh well). I had a good time and sold the telescope the next day.
Between selling the imac and the telescope my 2 car repairs are paid for on my credit card. yea.
-
Watched Leaving Las Vegas again last night. Might watch Valley Girl again tonight.
Silly. :)
I think I'm happy again. The 7am meetings on the weekends have really been good.
;D
-
MEGA VIBES FOR EVERYONE FOR THE WEEK AHEAD.
;)
Night. ;)

Good Evening!
I'm back from the recital, and it was a very nice recital.
-
And then I joined my friend, Eric - who played piano for the recital - for a post-recital dinner. Korean food. Spicy and yummy!

PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!!!!!!

bk - I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your Aunt. However, it sure does sound like she had a very long and full life.

Alas, over the course of the past couple of hours, I could feel the "creeping crud" starting to creep from my sinuses into my throat... And since tomorrow is a travel day for me... Well...
Goodnight.
-
I am watching a (badly) colorized silent movie on TCM - The Viking
-
Vikings apparently wore fur skirts and hats with horns on them - but no shirts

I am too tiredI must go to sleep

Night, all.

the silent movie has laughing

Finished with my viewing for the evening, and all is ready for the announcement at midnight - there won't be any need to order via paypal directly, as it will be on the Kritzerland site at midnight.

LOL!! thanks I needed a laugh

Jane - Not only is there a coffee flavor, but we actually had some in the freezer.
-
Yum, FJL
-
Must go to sleep. I think it's going to be slick in the morning and I have a busy day at work.
-
Today, my sister, niece and my sister's boyfriend went to my parents' house to exchange names for Christmas. We figured that since we're all much older, we each don't need to get gifts for everyone. It'll certainly be less expensive for all of us. :)
-
After flight delays, the eagle has landed. And we had 2 friends on the plane to boot--- may get some work from either/ both! Thanks for the vibes...can't wait to get home. They stopped the trains so we had to do the Bataan death march with all our heavy gear. Can't wait to get home!!
-
I bought several of those Criterion movies including the early Lubitsch musicals four-movie set. Haven't had a chance to watch them yet.
I reviewed that set many a year ago for DVDTalk.com. I believe I may have traded it for something with former DR MattH.
-
No one has a clew about our new release this evening?
-

That is the way I like my Vikings!
-
I haven't a clue...so you need to give some more clues.
-
...or even more clews.
-
We stopped by the theater to talk to them about how bad the projection looked and it wasmuch better today. They were screening blu and ray today. Sure would have been nice if they had done that when the director and all our friends were there. It still looked dark and the color was off but still, a relief. Sound ed better too!
-
How tired am I? Guess ...
-
I think I watched three more Bollywood movies tonight...the one I just now finished, BAS EK PAL (2006) made me cry. The movie is made by the same people who made MY BROTHER...NIKHIL.
Here is the trailer. I highly recommend the film.

I think that my creeping crud may just be creeping away, finally. I have felt much better since my nap this afternoon...both the cold and the twisted back seem to be coming back to normal, at least a bit.
I am still going through kleenex like crazy, however.
-
And don't everyone forget to pre-order this nifty DVD set!!!

No one has a clew about our new release this evening?
I vaguely remember you saying what it is when we had dinner at JMK's house, but now I can't remember. :-\
-
We watched THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT last night.
Excellent movie!
I figure that either Annette Benning or Julianne Moore will take home the Best Actress Oscar this year.
Personally, I'd call it a tie.
I utterly disagree. I found it full of false moment and clunky faux naturalistic dialogue. The biggest problem is they try to graphed on a happy resolution when the most disagreeable character in the piece has never acknowledges her role in causing the predicament... She will still be a controlled freak and she has actually gotten everything she wants because the other person capitulates. Her accusation to another character that he is an interloper is also false and unfair. He was not an interloper; he was invited in. And his story ends unsatisfyingly. It tries to give an easy ending to a more complex situation. Both The Lovely Wife and I felt let down by the film. I especially don't think it's particularly well-written.
I also think it is one of those films where the actresses might get noms just because both are playing lesbians and people will think it's a stretch and because they allow themselves to be filmed unflatteringly, but frankly I seen a lot better work out of both of them.
