Well, you've read the notes, the notes were stuffed, and now it is time for you to post until the stuffed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CONSANGUINEOUS!
Smoke on your pipe and put that in.
-
Yesterday was a day of eating. :)
Today will be a day of eating less than what was eaten yesterday...and I will help hang lights. That'll burn some calories.
-
After reading the notes, I have "Tick Tock" going through my head...and it's one of those songs that once it gets in my head, it doesn't leave easily. :-\
Fortunately, I like the song, so I don't mind...yet.
-
That's a great story about Ilona Simon, BK!
-
Good morning. That is all until my Black Friday shift is over.
-
My cousins from Scranton are expected to be in town today. Looking forward to seeing them.

Of course today is a work day. Oh. Well.

Maybe I will be home sometime or other.

Enjoyed the Ilona story.....most interesting!

TOD:

BLACK FRIDAY: Reminds me of a Boris Karloff/Bela Lugosi horror movie.

TOD:
DVD- THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP
And, if it arrives today or tomorrow:
THE GOOD WIFE, Season 1
-
Morning all.
We are going to lunch at Anthony's aunt and uncle (great aunt and great uncle actually since his mother is an only child and they are Rose's aunt and uncle). We have no shopping plans but if a store doesn't seem too busy we may stop in on our way there or back.
It's soggy in New York (at least on Long Island) but it's almost 50 degrees.
I hope the nice temperatures hold out until December 3rd when we do our load in for the Holiday Gift Bag packing.
Kevin, if you see this, we begin December 3rd and continue December 6th through the 10th and December 13th through the 17th. If you're available we would love to have you help out.
Anyone else reading this in the New York area is welcome also. Just come to the Actors Equity offices at 165 W. 46th St. You need ID to enter the building. Go to the second floor and tell the person at the desk that you are there to help with the Holiday Gift Bags. Go through the lounge to the back (take a left) and you will see lots of old (and some young) elves making merry and filling bags with sweaters and hats and scarves and gloves and whatever else we can get (including a small bag of candy with a lottery ticket) to give to people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. As I mentioned we do a load in on December 3rd at 9:30am and then begin the bag filling on December 6th at 10am. We work until 3 or 4 pm each day (Monday through Friday). It's a good cause and you'll meet some great people. You don't need to call anyone, just show up. The more the merrier!

Good morning, all! Jo is vacuuming and I am on my first cup of coffee. Her dinner yesterday was immense and quite wonderful, with both - as my mom always prepared - ham and turkey. She and Randy will have leftovers for several days.
So today is a quiet one until 4:00 when I meet with Tim Lewis, the realtro I tried to use to sell the property earlier in the year. Randy is furious and refuses to meet with him and he has told Jo that she can't go with me. So, since this route appears futile, I'm thinking of telling my brothers that I will give them six months to prove to me they're actively trying to sell the property or I will sue them. Perhaps they will finally buy me out?
After that, a visit with DR Ginny and Richard.
Sounds as though everyone's Thanksgiving was a nice one. I"m happy that Yogi was rescued from his ice flow like Eliza in UNCLE TOM"S CABIN. I liked your Promises Promises story, BK.
-
As I mentioned yesterday, we had a lovely dinner and then we watched Poor Little Rich Girl on Turner on Demand. Poor Shirley, if I was an adult I would stay away from her. Someone always gets either hurt or killed when she's around (like Jessica Fletcher, when she's around you know there will be a murder). The poor nurse Collin gets her purse stolen and then gets hit by a car and we never see her again but Shirley goes on to have a great adventure with Jack Haley and Alice Faye! We had a great time watching the movie.
We have no other plans for viewing or listening. Whatever happens will happen. We won't go to a movie but we may watch something here if the spirit moves us.
We will return to the city on Sunday and then I have 3 more days at the office before a month-long reprieve.
Now it's bathroom time.
Later, gators.
-
Since I only have the CDs I brought with me to play in the rental car, this is my TOD:
PHI Recordings (still unreleased) Babes In Toyland; The Lady OF The Slipper; Oh Boy!; Oh, Lady! Lady!; Have A Heart.
I also brought "Christmas comes Anew" (New York City Gay Men's Chorus).
More coffee!

Peter Filichia likes Bruce! Here is an excerpt from his column today:
On to books. Bruce Kimmel’s delightful and sobering “There’s Mel, There’s Woody, and There’s You” should be read by everyone who wants a career in any facet of show business. Kimmel details a life of so-near-yet-so-far-ism, where making wrong decisions had so many unforeseen ramifications (for such projects as The First Nudie Musical) . We meet a number of executives who love Kimmel when he’s hot but suddenly are unreachable when he’s not. Along the way, there are plenty of if-I-knew-then-what-I-know-now situations, and yet Kimmel always tells his story with good humor and in a breezy conversational style.

Good morning. That is all.

Friday morning greetings! The rain has finally stopped in SW Ohio and now it's sunny and cold. I'm getting myself together to visit the post office and my beloved Vera Bradley enabler. That's the only store I'm even going near today.
We're looking forward to DR Elmore's visit this evening!

If you're thinking about trying to get a $89 Kindle, here's what you need to know http://newssimplified.com/amazon-kindle-2-89-black-friday-deal/2570/ it's a generation 2 Kindle not the most recent version
-
DR Elmore I absolutely do not understand why your brother refuses to use a realtor? The property has been unsold for so long. Since you don't get out there that often I would totally meet with the realtor. You are in need of money. And they are being ridiculous. How do they think it is going to sell? I think that they should either buy you out or let you have some say.

We did something we've never done before--got up early to hit Freddy's for their BF sale. Got there at 5:15 to find that the netbooks and BD players were already gone. Amazing. Oh, well--we got socks 1/2 off, a videogame for Gabe and groceries. I'm sleepy. :)

JMK - What is Freddy's? Is it like a Best Buy or Crazy Eddie?

JMK - What is Freddy's? Is it like a Best Buy or Crazy Eddie?
It's our local Kroger affiliate--Fred Meyer.
-
They had $199 netbooks and $49 BD players this morning. Evidently for about 10 seconds. ;)
-
I ended up getting a $69 BD player at Amazon which will probably be of better quality. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
-
I too did the Black Friday bit, at the last minute. I popped over to BIG LOTS as they had TV season sets for $6. Not much of interest for me, but I might go back this weekend (when it is less busy) to get the GOMER PYLE season 4, as that is the season that Miss Allison Hayes appeared in a couple of episodes.
There were also season sets of PERRY MASON, LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY, DIAGNOSIS MURDER, LAGUNA BEACH, STREETS OF SAN FRANCISO, WILD WILD WEST and more....(but just certain seasons...like WILD WILD WEST season 3 part 1 or THE ODD COUPLE the final season...things like that).

TOD: media check:
CD: A lovely Hugo Winterhalter CD I found at Goodwill Outlet for $1.
DVD: Maybe SANTO VS THE ZOMBIES
DVR: I have a lot of HIGHWAY PATROL piling up.

DR JRand,
did you check out the VCI website? They had a lot of good prices, and with that discount coupon things were very, very cheap! I got GORGO for about $2.00 and The Herman Cohen double feature was, like, $8.00 or so.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm beginning to wonder if there's such a thing as a "sinus-ectomy".
-
No Black Friday shopping for us down here. At least no early morning Black Friday shopping. I didn't get out of bed until around 10:00, but I know my parents had to head out earlier for some of their regular shopping, and I'm pretty sure they'll be checking out some of the "crazy" specials today.

Oy! I'm on the page for the Kindle deal, but I don't think i'm going to go for it. I have 8 minutes to decide. I'm thinking that I'd rather get a Nook so I can get books from the library. I also don't like the idea that it's the Kindle 2 instead of the Kindle 3. For the extra $50, I'd rather have the current technology....so.....I think I'll wait.
-
As for the Friday Media Check...
-It's been a good week getting reacquainted with WCVE here in Richmond. ;)

Morning, all.

Ok, I'm off the Kindle deal page so someone else can get on. If I'm not sure I want something $89 is too much to spend, even if it is a good deal.

Went to stand in line this morning at a movie theater that was offering $50 gift cards for $10. There were literally hundreds and hundreds almost circling the 16-plex theater. And it was 45 degrees with a nasty wind blowing. After standing in line shivering for most of "Saturday Night" on my MP3, I heard someone say that the theater was "sold out" of the gift cards and was only selling 15-percent discounts. Nothing was said about limited quantities. I don't kno whether to report them for false advertising or not.
And I'm supposedly headed to one of their theaters today for "Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest," which has made its way here.
-
After that debacle I headed to Coscto and bought a Flip. Now I have to figure out how it works.
-
There were some interesting Black Friday tweets on Twitter last night and this morning. Twitter seemed to be a good way for people to gauge how long the lines were at certain stores. The scariest(?) one I read was about the line outside an Old Navy. The store wasn't due to open for another five hours, but there were already 400(!!?!?) people in line. Yikes!

I'm wondering if the theatre literally sold out of the actual cards? Otherwise, I'm sure there must be some "fine print" buried somewhere. ???

DR Jennifer, my brother Randy is dominated by his older brother Macbeth both at work and at home. Everything pertaining to this property has been dictated by Macbeth for the past three years. What I get from Randy is always "Macbeth and I've been discussing . . ." It's always presented to me as a fait accompli and I have no say. Do I resent this? DUH!
What really burns my ass, is that M does nothing to promote the sale of the property but will certainly want his deserved share of the pie. Since the only one doing anything is JoAnn, I'm not happy with Randy at the moment. And Randy is furious with me that I'm talking to this realtor.
-
Good morning, good day, how are you this beautiful day? I am apparently up and Jason Graae will be arriving at ten along with Lanny Meyers.
-
Ok, I have to think about starting my day. Paul needs a ride to the bank and to do a couple errands, so I'm picking him up at 1:00 PM then my recliner will be delivered at 2:30 PM. I think after that I'll start cleaning. Mom and Dad are coming to visit tomorrow. I don't have a lot to do downstairs, pick up and run the vacuum, but I want to rearrange some furniture upstairs and clean the floor where I removed the carpet. I'll have the new recliner, so I think I'll hand out up there tonight.

Jose, the two e-mails came out of the blue.

Wonderful story, bk, about Ilona Simon. (And I thoroughly agree with your assessment of "Sherlock Jr." One of the greatest of greats.)

Instead of an ereader I bought a second Roku http://shop.roku.com/Roku-Streaming-Player-Options-W5.aspx the DX is 20% off until noon pacific today. I was playing with my old one last night and can't believe the shows etc I can get for nothing. Plus my instant netflix movies. SO, I decided to get one for upstairs that's in HD (my old one isn't).

If you don't know about the Roku here's what you can get http://www.roku.com/ If I really like it and get used to this plus my digital over the air channels, who knows, I may get rid of cable

re: old navy and DR John's comments about the movie theatre offering $50 giftcards for $10.
I can't remember exactly but Old Navy did something similar for Boxing Day here last year. They advertised that people would get giftcards (i forget for how much) and then when we got there and waited in line for an hour or two they said that they only had 10 or some ridiculous thing!
I think these things are always very limited. And you can only get them if you arrive in the middle of the night!

Yah but one brother is at least semi-rational. So talk it out with him. I don't get why he would not want to include a realtor after all this time. If he wanted to sell it on his own he had 3 years. Each brother has the right to try to sell it. Maybe i'm missing something. But i do not get why he is so mad at DR Elmore for trying to sell the property.

Recliner has been delivered from Affordable Furniture. It's not the best recliner I've ever seen, but it has really good back support, so I'm glad I got it. I tried to move the futon into the bedroom and unless I take the whole thing apart, I dont' think it's going to get out of the office. So, I'm going to leave it in the office. If someone wants to sleep in the den, they can sleep on an air mattress. I can't figure out why I'm stressing about having a place in this room to sleep. I've had guests for a total of 7 nights in the past 4 1/2 years. Somehow, I don't think it's going to be a big deal

Congrats on the new recliner, Cilla. Back support is important...I work with a woman who has back problems and anytime that she has trouble sleeping, she'll sleep on her recliner because it fits just the right way when she needs it.

When the majority vote counts, or even when it doesn't, odds are a sibling will cave to the bully vs the nice sibling & hope for understanding from the nice sibling. Just be glad you don't have enough personal experience to comprehend this. The semi-rational brother is the one being bullied & is simply trying to cope with the situation the best he can, plus he doesn't need the money which still might not be enough motivation to go against the bully.

That means that I won't have to feel guilty about leaving early to help with hanging lights at the theater. Thanks George. I have one recliner I've had since 1992, lol, I cant believe it's been that long, anyway, I took that upstairs thinking I'd be using it all the time, I sat on it and sunk....then I remembered why I bought the "new" one several years ago. Rehearsals went well - adjusted some keys and Lanny knows he has some work to do in getting used to these charts again - right now he's trying to play too many of the orchestral lines, so I told him to just worry about the rhythm of it, which helped him immediately. One of our singers forgot to put this rehearsal in her iCal and so missed it - but she's coming today at five so that's fine.
-
I then got a really irritating e-mail from amazon.fr saying a package had been returned as "undeliverable." Horse manure, of course, as I've been ordering and receiving packages from them for years, all to the exact same address. And this is the package I've been waiting to get - so I wrote them and told them that it was absolutely deliverable and that I wanted to know exactly what happened. They wrote me back saying they'd refunded the dough and that I should order again, and that the problem seems to have emanated at customs - they just returned it for whatever stupid reasons. If anyone knows who or how I contact them so I can ream them out and try to make sure this NEVER happens again (especially with the reordered items) please let me know.

I then had a sandwich and fries and now I'm back.

Of course now you will have company wanting to sleep in the den ;)
Then they should have visited when there was a bed in there :D

I love the description "The Martians kidnap Santa because there is nobody on Mars to give their children presents."

Exactly how does Macbeth expect the property to sell? Or does he enjoy holding on to it because it upsets you?

If you don't know about the Roku here's what you can get http://www.roku.com/ If I really like it and get used to this plus my digital over the air channels, who knows, I may get rid of cable
It is all too complicated for me. I can't even figure out why Netflix says that I can no longer watch Live movies and TV because my computer isn't powefull enough. It is a brand new computer!

I believe that is the film featuring a very young Pia Zadora.

Personally that is my guess even if he says otherwise.

That is correct. I believe that she was the same height in that movie as she is today.

Matthew, VERY NICE! :)

We've had a dee-lightful evening with our guest, DR Elmore. He brought a beautiful bouquet of flowers and lots of chat about his life and work. We had pizza from Shaddock's and my homemade pumpkin pie and he's now on his way back out to the country.
-
:) Thanks for the update.

Ginny what page are you on? I'm up to page 85.
-
Bruce I'm chatting with Jessica and asked if she got that App. Her response, "OMG it's Eli's favorite thing! She "teaches" it words."
I wish I had a photo of Eli's expression when she first saw "Kitty", her name for Talking Tom. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdFgghgM-bM)

Haven't caught up yet, but what's the feeling on this board been about BURLESQUE?
-
Ginny what page are you on? I'm up to page 85.
You're ahead of me, DR Jane, but I will make every effort to catch up. I went to bed early last night to read and Rob and Mary Linda called from Michigan. By the time we hung up half an hour later, I read just a little and then went to sleep.
-

Even if I'm ahead of you your comments will keep the story fresh in my head until the discussion. I don't know why the person said to stick with the book at least 50 pages. I think 35, 40 pages is plenty to get a feel for it. So far I like it.
-
Back from a lovelier than lovely evening with DR Ginny and Richard! Jo and I are watching something on the Lifetime (All Men Are Scum) Network. I do love JoAnn; she's one of the best and she's a great partner to laugh through these movies with.
My meeting with the realtor was brief but provided some nice information. Before i go back to New York, I will tell Randy my thoughts and perhaps make a few threats. I love him and don't want to bend him out of shape, but if nothing will be done to prove to me from the side of Randy and Macbeth that there is an active attempt to sell the property, I will sue them for doing nothing and force them to buy me out.
-
Glad to see you made it home safely, DR Elmore!
-
Dr elmore might the expense of a suit could be more than the value of your share, unless you can do it yourself in small claims court.

elmore,

I'm going to sign off now and try to read enough to catch up to DR Jane - 'night!

I like the Roku, it's getting more and more channels all the time and most of them are free. I've been watching Netflix movies all night. I saw Girl 27. that was really fascinating

So, on imdb's posting for "A Christmas Story," the following are the movies recommended if you liked this movie: "Love in the Time of Cholera," "A Single Man," "Empire Falls," "Greed" and "October Sky." What do any of those have to do with "A Christmas Story"?

My friend, Betzy has a Wii and she watches Netflix movies all the time. Last time I was over there, she had me playing golf, baseball, and boxing. I was very sore the next day.

I haven't played my Wii in a long time. I would need to recharge all the controls, but yes, you can watch Netflix. I'll have to see what other apps it has.

Good Evening!
The museum was nice. I mainly wanted to check out one of their newest exhibits, "Corot to Cézanne: French Drawings from the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellon". It was very a nice exhibit. I was truly astounded by the amount of detail in some of them.
-
After the museum, I headed over to Steve's place for dinner. He cooked up some okra, popcorn chicken and potato salad. All very good. And then we watched a bit of TV before I headed back to my parents' house.
-
DR Ginny - Nice bags. :)

DR Matthew - Will you be putting up icicles and window candles too?

DR Cillaliz - Enjoy your extra day of prep and rest.

I'm not exactly sure what a Roku is either, but I have a bunch of friend who use it, and are very happy with it. It seems to be meant for people who can only watch their favorite shows "on delay" and not "live". I think. ???
However, some other have also investigated the new TiVO pricing, and have gone with that instead.
-Does that help? ::)

DR Jane - The Wii is basically just another gaming console. Just like XBox and Playstation - and Atari(!) - the only way to view the games is via a TV. It's not a self-contained system.
-
Well...
Whatever was in my sinuses seems to be creeping down into my throat and chest. Which is actually a good thing since that means that it's on it's way out. I hope. Of course, it's a bad thing since I've started coughing more frequently. But that's what sleep is for. So...
Goodnight.

Back from a little drive in the motor car. Second rehearsal was great.
-
No time to really watch a film tonight, as I'm listening to the new and incredibly improved and great-sounding master for Carrie.
-
DR Matthew - Will you be putting up icicles and window candles too?
Not a huge fan of the icicle effect, but our windows do have small sills, so it's possible that something will go in there this year.

Roku started out as a Neflix viewer before Wii, Blu-Ray and every thing else could also stream Netflix. It is still a Netflix viewer, but also has many many more "channels" now. Almost anything you can imagine, NASA, lectures from universities, classic movies, music, games and more all streaming to your tv. There is no subscription to Roku, just to some of the channels. I don't know how else to explain it. Here are some of the channels http://www.roku.com/roku-channel-store You can subscribe to Hulu plus and get many of the current televsion shows, but I just DVR that.

did some errands but did not get as much accomplised as I wanted to -- did do some Christmas shopping but not until around8 PM - the stores were empty - I parked right at the store entrance everything was still on sale and I had a 15% off coupon and got an additional $20 back--
Within an hour i was done shopping and bought everything I needed to ship the package to Canada- so tomorrow I wrap and ship!

At lease that's the plan

''good night all

Have showered, in my jammie and had a low fat, no sugar butter pecan ice cream.

Tonight's rehearsal of "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol" went well. I got there and helped the lighting designer (her name is Cecil) put up the instruments (lights) and change gels and change where some of the lights are plugged. I have to go in again tomorrow morning (at 9:00 a.m. :P until about 11 a.m.) to do some more moving of lights and plugs. Then, the family is meeting at my sister's, since we didn't get together today. Then, I have to be at rehearsal tomorrow night at about 6:30. I'll get to learn how to use the light board and actually do some things during the run-through. It's gonna be a long day...good thing I don't have to go to my real job tomorrow!
-
When I got home today, I received two lovely packages! One from DR Ginny and one from DR Edisaurus!
Thank you both!! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Very nice yard, Matthew!
-
Well, since I need to get up early in the morning, I'm going to go to bed now. 8)
Until tomorrow.

Maybe I should write some notes.
