Well, you've read the notes, the notes were solid, had a platform, and were silver, and now it is time for you to post until the solid silver cows come home.

Good morning, all! Round Two of the final Victor Herbert recording sessions is today, with three singers, Ron Raines, Jeanne Lehman, whose doing half of her material today, and Marnie Breckenridge, who finishes up her round of recordings. Ron is recording three posthumous songs, one of them unpublished and based on the Cuban Serenade from Herbert's 1924 "Suite of Serenades," which was premiered by Paul Whiteman in his famous Aeolian Hall concert that also premiered Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue."

Yesterday went really well. Marnie and Jonathan sounded great, and everything went down to tape quickly. I'm hoping this good vibe continues all week. I spent too much time at the studio yesterday coughing and wheezing, so I got up earlier in hopes that taking the meds early would make my life at the sessions easier for everyone.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Healthy Vibes To Our DR TCB! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My normal breakfast is a bowl of Cheerios (sometimes with a sliced banana) and a half glass of orange juice.
But my favorite breakfast would be a Greek omlette with hash browns on the side.
But mostly I have oatmeal with milk and fruit, because after all, "Food is medicine."
Grrrrrr...
My cubicle is about 25 feet away from the office of the company's CEO.  When he does teleconfrencing, he turns his phone speaker UP LOUD, never closes his office door and the voices carry throughout the area.  It drives me crazy!  I've got my earphones on listening to Narciso Yepes but the sound is still coming through...
Grrrrrr...
I have not yet had time to catch up with anything. And I don't know what the day holds, but I am exhausted still. Yesterday's shoot went 13 hours -- and they didn't use us for the last eight, so we sat around like so much fish.  That can wear you out. Tuesday's shoot was 15 or so hours (including lunch).
Vibes for BK's helper. Recording vibes for DR Elmore. And health vibes for TCB. Vibes for anyone else in need.
TOD:
My favorite breakfast ALWAYS includes grits!  Grits with butter, salted and peppered.
Ideally, there will be some really tasty sausage or bacon that I can break up and mix with the grits.
Oh, yes...and a piece of toast with which to "push".
TOD Part II:
The only exception to my favorite breakfast requiring grits is when I have waffles.
Waffles, waffles, waffles, waffles, WAFFLES!
Pecan waffles with pecan syrup is my all-time favorite.
I also love any kind of waffles with maple syrup (genuine, not imitation).
And then there are strawberry waffles topped with strawberries and whipped cream!!!!
And there must be bacon on the side....and pots of coffee, too!!!!
Not TOD:
My least favorite breakfast is one I had to observe while eating my eggs, grits and bacon when I was a kid.
That was a breakfast in which my father scrambled his eggs with brains.
And then he praised them as he gulped them down.
Nearly put me off food for the day, that did.
Have been browsing through time lately...mostly backward...into the mid-1950s.
Watched "An Affair to Remember" on TCM last night.  I got really emotional over the fact that all the people involved were alive and well during my lifetime....but have all since passed on.
Thursday morning greetings!  It's Epiphany and you know what that means - the Wise Men have arrived at our nativity scene and I can start taking down Christmas decorations.  I've already been out on the front porch to remove the lighted garlands and bows, because snow is predicted and I wanted to get those items inside before it starts.
My favorite restaurant breakfast was at a bistro in Stevens Point Wisconsin. I had the most wonderful, fluffy and delicious red pepper, bacon and spinach quiche with goda cheese. It was GOOD!
and the most cleverly served breakfast was the breakfast in a cup bake. it had a sausage pattie, scrambled eggs and potatoes wtih LOTS of melted cheese. It was good.  The cup is similar to a large cappuccino cup you see in some coffee shops
Question: do you have snow on the ground all winter or just parts of winter?
The neat thing about the bistro I mentioned in the earlier post is taht they raise some of their own produce adn buy from local producers. Their menu varies due to availability of produce
DR DakotaCelt - having grown up in Michigan, I was used to snow first falling in early November and the ground remaining white until March or April.  When I moved to SW Ohio, it took some time for me to get used to seeing green grass between snowstorms.  All the snow we had in December has melted and been washed away by rain.
You know what surprises me? That your grass is green under the snow. Our grass (bermuda) goes dormant in the winter. It surprises me that our grass is dead in the relative warmth while yours stays green.
(Ok. Some people here do plant winter lawns. I wonder if they would stay green under snow?)
I love biscuits and gravy for breakfast, but have only had it a handful of times.  I like classic bacon and eggs and home fries.  I've never been much of a hash browns person.  I occasionally like sausage but not often.  I used to love ham and eggs but never eat that anymore.  I'm very particular about pancakes, so I rarely have them save for Du-Par's, which I now only seem to do once or twice a year.  French toast I've never cared about, but I do love the waffles at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles.
So far, so good. Some work: playing, coaching, singing. Some play: walking around The Ship, reading on deck (I'm already halfway through "The Metropolis Case", and now a few hours in port walking around trying to find some pretty and/or interesting things to take pictures of.
As much as I wish my coachings didn't have to start at 9:30 each morning, that has made for some long days, but in the good sense. -Especially since we dine during the second dinner seating at 8:30 each evening.
We're docked at St. Thomas today, then it's on to St. Lucia, Barbados and Dominica before we start the journey back to the Port of Brooklyn.
Luckily(?), since St. Thomas is a U.S. V.I., I have access to the web via AT&T's network. I'm not sure about the other ports.
Thanks again for all the well wishes and travel vibes. They seem to be working their magic.
I hope everyone is getting better, keeping busy, and smiling and laughing.
Until...
Laters...
TOD: Take a large glass jar with a good lid. Fill with at least 1 dozen whole eggs (the free-range or no-cage kind where the yolks are more orange than yellow). Top with the shavings of one black truffle. Seal jar and let sit someplace cool for 1 week, so the aroma of the truffle can permeate the egg shell and into the yolks. After a week, crack the shells, whisk the eggs with a little heavy cream and a fine chop of some of the black truffle. Add a splash of black truffle oil for extra measure. Scramble the eggs until cooked to the doneness you like. Serve with Champagne, preferably an aged rose' sparkler.
Now that's good eats.
I've started checking the weather for the 3 major stops on our "Southern Charm 30th Anniversary Tour" and it looks like Charleston has highs in the 40s, Savannah in the 50s, and St. Augustine in the 60s.  Sounds like this won't be a shorts & t-shirts trip, but that's OK.  And we're just getting to the point where the 10-day forecasts are of any use, so maybe we'll see some warming...
We had a fantastic day of recording! It went so well that I had to call our second singer tomorrow and ask her to come an hour early. Good work from Ron, Jeanne, and Marnie, and I think these recordngs will rock.
I know that this isn't it, but I found this YouTube clip of Clucks & Meows Lakme's "Flower Duet" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAiUNaYCSAA).
I don't think I've ever even seen grits.
I'm not a big breakfast person. But most people here eat cereal or toast or eggs for breakfast.  Nothing fancy.
My kids won't eat early in the morning, either. Well, except my son, but he works nights, so when we have breakfast together it is more like him having breakfast for dinner.
Jennifer I often feel sick in the mornings though not like I used to.  When it was really bad I stopped eating breakfast.  Actually for a long time I pretty much stopped eating all day.  Now if I eat & then exercise I reflux.
Casino Royale is getting some wonderful comments - people can really hear the difference between this and the other two CD releases and I think what's REALLY astonishing them is how great the first presentation is - the one from the damaged tape.  What we did, that was apparently not of interest to Varese, was to compensate for the problems and fix the dropouts and the result, to my ears, is that it sounds better than the LP presentation, which is simply a flat transfer of the LP as it originally sounded.  Ours sounds fuller and more detailed - that was even astonishing to me.
One of the few remaining leading ladies from the days of the early talkies, Miriam Seegar, died last weekend at her home in Pasadena at the age of 103.
(http://s11.allstarpics.net/images/orig/5/x/5x9mb9hr0237bmh5.jpg)
She debuted in films in 1928 and retired from acting in 1932 when she got married. When her husband died in the late 1950s she began working as  an interior decorator, a job she retired from in 1995 at the age of 88.
She sure was purty!
How well did you know her husband?
I love a good brunch buffet.  I have not had grits since I left New Jersey, but I do love them with butter and salt and pepper (probably only pepper now).  I love corned beef hash with scrambled eggs, hash browns with sausage gravy and sourdough toast. I alos love a good omelet, usually sausage or bacon with cheddar.
And I do really enjoy a Sausage and Egg McMuffin with cheese.
My favorite breakfast is a modified full English breakfast
starters: a sprinkle  a half grapefruit with cointreau and brown sugar and a maraschino cherry then popp under the broiler until the sugar melts
 main course 2 poached eggs, broiled tomato, broiled mushrooms, sausage, English bacon (or ham), and home fries made with sauteed sweet red peppers, vidalia onions and waaaaay too much sweet butter
served with HP sauce and rye toast with maramlade or else rye toast with cream cheese
and a nice big mug of tea
Just recieved and listened to CASINO ROYALE today. Holy Kritzerland,
Batman! What a listen! You fellas really did a number on this one - and
an utterly delightful number it is! I never thought this one would sound as
great as this cd, but here it is. I don't how James Nelson got it to sound this
stunning, but it's absolutely crystal clear without those annoying dropouts
and flutter that plagued the previous cd. I absolutely LOVE the resequencing
of the cues. Not to take away anything that Phil Ramone did for the LP, but
the new track order just makes more sense in narrative musical sense.
I really anticipated how the editing would segue from Big Cowboys and
Indians into the vocal end title, and it sounds perfect - like it should have
always been there. Anyway...Bruce, James....BRAVO!!!
That booklet is a real eye opener. Gorgeous, beautiful color layout.
It is, DR Vixmom, especially considering what she went through losing her father a year and a half ago.  If ever a kid had reason to crash and burn, she certainly did.  But, instead, she's thrown herself into her schooling and, this past semester, earned a higher GPA than Rob's.  She gave him all kinds of grief about that when they were all here for our after-Christmas party.
I was not expecting anything like THIS (http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/In-his-new-book-ice-skater-Johnny-Weir-says-tha?urn=oly-304440&print=1) to be made public.
Why, it will set the sport back many decades.
Who'd a thunk it!!!
LOL, DR Ron Pulliam!
In other matters, do you have any South Carolina (specifically Charleston) tips for us?
Seriously, isn't this just amazing!
Did anyone truly believe this was revelatory?  Or unknown?  Or that it needed "saying"?
LOL!
I don't know much of anything about Charleston (or any other part of the "low country") except that the food is great.
Check out the Huguenot church, though.  It's old and beautiful and historic!
Maybe. But I am interested to know how she is a witness in a murder case.
maybe she is a character witness - didn't she work for the DA's office previously?
LOL, I knew Laura would be most interested.  Let's just say I was the lawyer for the current defendant's co-defendant.  We found some evidence the police missed.  It all came out in the trial we had back in 1997.  Anyway, our investigator died, so now the prosecution wants to use it against the guy who fled the country at the time.  Without our investigator to call as a witness, they are calling me.   Just foundational fact witness for physical evidence missed by the cops.  It was more exciting to just say I got a subpoena.
Didn't get the brief done tonight.  Tomorrow was more aspirational than necessary, but we'll have to overnight on Monday now.  I spent the evening learning the whole messy political history of Guatemala and trying to figure out how my client's family fits into it.  It's an asylum case so I won't say more, but it's really quite interesting.
