Hello, all. I've been very E&T the past week preparing for my step-mom's memorial service which took place last night. I put together a 10 minute video which showed her life from babyhood to her last week here. It was kind of emotionally draining to do but I'm glad I had the technology to do that.

Now I'm on the couch in Blue Ridge. It's impossible to sleep here but no good internet connection so I'm typing on my phone. Glad I can read the notes on my phone!

Indiana squirrels stop when they see you, and then even if they are more than halfway across the street, they turn around and run back from whence they came.....usually causing injury or death.

Good morning, all! I slept quite well last night, with one long and rambling dream about producing a tour of SHE LOVES ME. I've still got "Good Morning Good Day" running through my head.

Around 11am, I will head down to Toyland for some work. Before I go, I will check in on Mr Ron Raines, who had some minor surgery yesterday, and see if he needs anything. His wife Dona is away directing an opera in Birmingham, Charlotte's back in Ann Arbor, and so I am keeping an eye on our invalid for the next couple of days.

I've just purchased my train ticket to DC and put my mail on hold for next Monday and Tuesday, so I'm ready for my trip. I need to compile a list of things I want to look over while I'm there.

DR Ben, I have a meeting at Toyland tomorrow at noon. Are you and Anthony up for a visit around 2:30 or 3?

TOD:   Not sure.   One small bird, though...just flew out of a bush and directly into my car....and one dog on a freeway many years ago...at night.  I stopped and looked for him but he had run off.   My car, however, would go no further as the radiator was leaking badly from the impact.

A cat lost half of its tail after -- unbeknownst to me -- having climbed into my car's engine on a cold day.  I had seen this small cat on the sidewalk of my complex.  It wasn't inclined to be petted.  I went indoors.  I came out 10 minutes later for a run to my market and heard a thump as I started the car.   What could be wrong, I panicked.   And then that cat appeared and ran off...with half its tail dangling from the other half.

TOD:  I have also run over a couple of snakes.

And during a couple of years I lived in Jacksonville, Florida -- while in the Navy --  I was responsible -- annually -- for the deaths of thousands of love bugs.  Not deliberate on my part.

I once found a dead bird impaled in the grill of the ginormous Cadillac my father gave to me when I was in my 20's.  I never saw or heard the impact, not surprising considering the size of that car.

Just finished listening to CASINO ROYALE.  What a treat.  Kudos, BK.  I do have two minor complaints (sorry, BK, I'm probably about to raise your dander and/or ire).  I personally found the second and third pages of the insert *very* difficult to read (the pages printed over the Sellers photo).  Also, Mr. Gergely Hubai (little known fact--Gergely is Tohav Ebeenon's brother-in-law) makes a pretty egregious grammatical error in a sentence that makes little sense anyway.  Since Mr. Hubai, like Vixmom, is not a native English speaker, it's understandable, but if you ran your liner notes by any of the many anal retentive people here on HHW ;), we could help you fix these mistakes.

Hello all!   I think the week after the holidays is the saddest week of all.  I hate seeing all the trees and lights being taken down.  Sigh.  After MLK day it's long months until the next holiday weekend.  Sigh.

One week back to work and I find that nothing has changed.  By the end of the week I felt just as tired and worn out as i always have.  I honestly think the time has come for me to try to find something else to do.  It's not going to be easy to find something that pays as much as I make now but I finely have to admit that I am miserable at my current job.  There is no point in stressing myself out about something that takes so much of my time and energy and makes me so unhappy.

It may take some time to find something else but I'm going to start the hunt.

I took Bonny to the repair shop and got her back in 4 days.  I must admit they did a very good job.  You can't tell that it's a new door or that the paint is new.

I had a bird fly in front of the car once.  There was no way I could avoid it.  I did pull over and go back but it was to late.  I felt horrible but what could I have done?

Whew!  I've done about all the undecking that I can do in one day.  All living/dining room decor is packed away, except for the angel collection.  That may stay on and around the piano until we return.  The mantle in the family room is back to everyday and all of the ornaments are off the tree.  Ours are packed and Rob's are ready to be packed - we just have to decide on a box.  When we run the dishwasher next - probably tomorrow - we'll switch back to our non-Christmas dishes.  Seems like we just got all this stuff out...

You really decorate! :)

The meeting this morning was fine.  The helper's boyfriend and the helper's best friend will coordinate and get done what needs to be done, so that it's not all falling on my shoulders.  Apparently our vibes and xylophones are working but we're going to have to keep them coming VERY strongly for another two weeks, I think.  One piece of advice I gave them was heeded and that apparently did some good.

CONTINUED VIBES!!!

And I discovered a channel that gets Kathy Griffin's my Life On the D List. And they have 4 episodes on today.I used to love this show (It was on the Comedy Network here). But they stopped showing it after the first few seasons. I am so happy I will get to see this season.

I'd read that the show has ended...there won't be a new season. :(

Yah I read that too. There are still a few seasons that i have not seen. I hope they show them on the channel here that airs the show.

Check near the oatmeal and follow the directions on the box. I love them doused with about a quarter bottle of Tabasco sauce on top. And a bit of butter.

Or with shrimp on top of some grits seasoned with Parmesan cheese.

Grits are just American polenta, only better.

A little while ago I looked outside and noticed the mountains are covered in snow.  I have no idea when that happened as we had fog this morning.  Figuring there would also be fog at the hiking trails possibly causing more ice I decided to walk on the walking path this morning.  It felt colder though it was ten degrees warmer than yesterday.

The issue for me isn't that Sarah isn't in power, it's that she used targets on her "hit list" and has at the very least (like other candidates) hinted at "second Amendment remedies" for political grievances.  I don't think it's any coincidence that several sites are reporting Palin took down the target graphic today, which evidently was still live on some of her internet accounts.

I'm not "blaming" Sarah for this particular shooting.  I *am* blaming her (among others) for the hyperbolic and vitriolic atmosphere.  How would *she* feel if someone posted a site with her in a rifle scope?  Or her family?  It's that kind of atmosphere that I am quite positive the sheriff was referring to.  And I'll bet you dollars to donuts he's a Republican.

Let's be merry and gay.  I have been sitting here tearing what little hair I have left slowly out of my head.  I did this edit road map, but doing those things is so complicated and I flipped a few tracks - so the mastering guy has been inundating me with questions and I've just taken another hour to fix it all - it's done now and hopefully I can stop worrying about it until he's finished his work.  It's driving me a little crazy and, as most of you know, that is not a long drive.  I want to get back to Adriana-land - that land is FUN.  I'm finishing up the liner notes and then I'm FREEEEE.  I'll probably watch a motion picture and then I'll write another three or four pages.

DR TCB - I have used the canned Skyline to make topping for coney hot dogs, but I don't think I'd just eat it as chili.  If you want the full experience, you should serve it over spaghetti and add cheese and beans and/or onions, as desired.  In Cincinnati lingo:

3-way = spaghetti, chili, cheese
4-way bean = spaghetti, chili, beans, cheese
4-way onion = spathetti, chili, onions, cheese
5-way = spaghetti, chili, beans, onions, cheese

Tonight, Richard and I each order 4-way bean with the cheese on the side.  It's amazing how little of that cheese you really need.

I agree it has the potential to be just as dangerous.  I'm sure Palin's intention was not for someone to go kill these people, only to vote against them.  Whether is was appropriate is, to me, a different subject and until a connection can be made that her "hit list" is the indirect cause it should not be stated as such.

Well the Vixter and I are back from a most satisfying day of being tourists in the city that never sleeps

I had a coupon good for 10 hours parking for only $12 so we drove in listening to the Scottsboro Boys

parked and walked 4 blocks to the King Tut exhibit -  they had added some new items in November - items that MOMA has apparently been in possession of for many years and which they have just agreed to give to the Cairo Museum - included were a chariot found in Tut's tomb and a life size re-creation of his mummy -

they recommended allowing 90 minutes to take in everythingc- we were there for nearly four hours and only left because we needed to rush to the theatre for our 2 PM matinee

Today we saw the Roundbout Theatre Production of "The Importance of Being Earnest"

Vixdad had bought us the tickets as our Christmas present.  The wwere third row center mezzanien and since they have "stadium seating" in the mezzanien the view was superb.

After the show there was an annoucement  inviting the audience to stay for a "talk back" with two of the actors -(the ones playing Jack & Gewndolyn  - shown here in this photo behind Aunt Augusta) only about 30 of us stayed and it was quite interesting and fun,

Tomorrow I am going to be diving back into preparation for an asylum application for someone who may be killed if she has to go back to her country.   So, I probably won't be stopping by much until i get that done.

Horrifying news out of Tucson this afternoon  :'(
I agree. I hope this is the straw that causes Sarah Palin to go away, but it would be a shame that it would require the loss of lives for that to happen.

Well, maybe we should take bets on the next assassination attempt. I've got Sarah's hit list here!

I find her disturbing to begin with

I wouldn't even know where to find grits here. OR how to make them.

I have not seen them around here either ..

Before blaming Palin's "hit" list I suggest waiting for more details.  The first news out indicates this 22 year old had his own strange agenda.

I blame her for everything these days.

I've noticed.

Really?

Yup.  I bet she's the reason your property in Ohio hasn't sold ;)

The only person more dangerous than SP is my sister-in-law Lady Macbeth!

A federal judge can relocate to another state then, an advantage if one wants it.

I'm not sure about that part.  They can be a visiting judge, but I'm not sure they can just move without the President appointing them or something.  Don't know

I  was wondering that also....

NEWSFLASH!!!

The eleven point underdog Seattle Seahawks have just defeated last year's Super Bowl champ New Orleans Saints in the opening game of the playoffs, 41 - 36.

Amazing!

DR TCB - I have used the canned Skyline to make topping for coney hot dogs, but I don't think I'd just eat it as chili.  If you want the full experience, you should serve it over spaghetti and add cheese and beans and/or onions, as desired.  In Cincinnati lingo:

3-way = spaghetti, chili, cheese
4-way bean = spaghetti, chili, beans, cheese
4-way onion = spathetti, chili, onions, cheese
5-way = spaghetti, chili, beans, onions, cheese

Tonight, Richard and I each order 4-way bean with the cheese on the side.  It's amazing how little of that cheese you really need.

Oh that Is goooooood stuff!

I  I wish I ould find the stuff here. I have  an itching to make some

I agree with Ginny... It is an experience

I have a question for New Yorker Hainsies and Kimlets.

I know in the summer months if it gets over a certain temperature, If I recall right it is around 85. Do you know if there is the same temperature restrition for the people who operate the horse and carriages that ply the streets of NYC?

Lord amighty, what a day.  I'm a good juggler, thankfully - I've done seven pages so far, written the liner notes and track titles, done the edit road map, had a meeting, eaten some eggs, and written the blurb so I can actually announce our new title here this evening at midnight.   I'm watching a motion picture I TIVOd, but right now I must go get a donut, I think.  I am seriously in the donut place.  Then I'll finish the movie and I'm determined to write at least two more pages this very evening.

When I was a child, I used to love watching the TV series TOPPER.  I thought it was so stylish, and I thought the Kirbys were witty and urbane.

I wonder if I would enjoy it if I watched it again?
I have a bunch of the episodes on DVD because Sondheim used to write for the show. They are still fairly enjoyable, though some of it is creaky. And there is no consistency in story line from one episode to the next.

Really busy week for me, and a really busy week next week.

I keep hoping my life will somehow slow down and give me time to enjoy the roses outside.  But no.

No, it just keeps on going no matter how much I try to slow down.

My living space is much less cluttered.   It looks pretty darn good.  Now I just need someone (free) to clean it.  (ha ha)

Joan was scabrous, but very, very funny.  There was a brief kerfuffle right before the orchestra did THE PINK PANTHER.  I know the orchestra's percussionist (he's Zach's drum teacher), and I've sent him an email asking what happened, but it was scary after today's Arizona fracas.  Someone was screaming very loudly and causing a big disturbance.  But still the band played on.
