Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wacky, and now it is time for you to post until the wacky cows come home.

And the word of the day is: EARWIG!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
More snow? Really? On top of the ice? Really? Two to four more inches today? And more tomorrow!
And today is a work day. We shall see. Oh well.
-
I think I had a broken collarbone - but that is all.....it was many years ago.
I have had several sprains and strains due to dancing and gymnastics....but again.....many years ago.
-
good morning

off topic
but what exactly are the differences between:
actual camera negative, internegative or positive

Might of missed this here but...
Cabaret singer Mary Cleere Haran was severly injured in an accident Thursday in nearby Deerfield Beach. She was riding her bicycle when it happen.

My refund is due on Feb 15.
-
So is mine.
-
Should I leave it in my savings account or stimulate the economy?
-
I am going to stimulate the economy with half of it, and pay my State Income Tax with the other half.
-
I broke my big toe playing sand volleyball in bare feet years ago. Not much they can do about that. So I walked with a cane until it healed. you don't realize how much you use your big toe until you can't
-
I am still waiting for a check from the feds for the trial i did last August. When I get it, I'll probably have to sign most of it over to the gov't in taxes. Oh joy
-
My refund is due on Feb 15.
What is a refund?
-
Thankfully, I don't need to give New York State any more money in taxes. I get to keep the meager check they will be sending me in probably about 6 weeks (since I file by mail, not e-file, for the state).
-
World of Wisdom will open about one hour late - or..... We shall see in about an hour.
-
My refund is due on Feb 15.
What is a refund?
I was just going to ask the same thing

Saturday morning greetings! A "wintery mix" is falling and is supposed to turn to snow soon. Richard is out doing historical society stuff, Rob is in Michigan, and I'm staying in. I may try to nap soon, because I woke up way earlier this morning than I'd have liked.
-
TOD - I broke the tips of 2 fingers on my right hand by smashing them in a window frame shortly after we moved into this house. And the little toe on my right foot when I smacked into my dresser in the middle of the night running to a crying little Robbie. I can predict the weather with that part of my foot.
-
TOD: I was roller skating with the children when I fell and broke my wrist.
-
Oh and I had my nose broken in gym when I was 13 or 14 - during a volleyball game - I jump up to hit a "net" ball at the same time the girl on the other side jumped up to spike it - she spiked it right into my nose
My that hurt!!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I"m up... And number 251 will be taking the stage in about 25 minutes...
-
Otherwise, it was a relatively good day of auditions and callbacks. Oh, and ribs. :)
-
Welcome to Page Two Dance!!!!!
-
Good morning, all! I slept late and here I am. I have to be in midtown by noon for the Encores! luncheon, an event occurring three times a year before the Saturday matinee of an Encores! production. Lasy year I managed to miss all three luncheons and the first one this year before the matinee of BELLS ARE RINGING. I am looking forward to see who all shows up.
When I return, I have to type up my Victor Herbert notes from yesterday's NYPL trip before I can no longer read my writing. This morning, vacuuming and tidying up.
First, coffee.

As for the Topic of the Day...
I've never broken a bone. -Never had a cavity either. However, I have had stitches once, and my parents did take me to the emergency room when I was nine years old after my right eye decided to catch the fly ball that my baseball glove missed.
-
TOD:
I've been very lucky broken bones-wise. (Knock Wood!)
The only incident happened over 20 years ago. I was coming out of my bank in Calabasas and fell flat on my face. Turns out that the brick step was broken, and that's what caused me to fall.
I stuck my head back into the bank, and shouted "You should get your step fixed. A person could get killed." And, that was it.
Although my pinkie (on the hand that broke my fall) was slightly sore, I forgot about the incident...until a week later when I got a postcard from an insurance company. "Please call us about your accident," it said.
I'm thinking: "Did I sideswipe a car or something and didn't know it?"
Cutting to the chase: It was the bank's insurance company. They insisted that I go to their doctor. The doctor did an x-ray of my hand. Turns out I had a fractured pinkie.
The insurance company wound up paying me $3000 for my trouble.
:)

and the snow continues....
DR GINNY it is headed your way
-
REE - FUND
That's when you get back a little bit of the money you paid to the government because they haven't figured out how to keep it.....YET......

Wow. When I went over to turn in the skates, the guy looked at me holding my wrist and said, "We're not responsible."

Gee, thanks, DR JRand.
-
Ben - Have you discussed why you don't e-file your New York State return?
(If so, I must have missed your explanation. Could you say it again? Thanks if you can.)
-
OK...
Time to get ready for numbers to 251-430 - although, apparently, there are a number of no-shows due to travel-related issues and/or illnesses. I could have a longer dinner break today.

TOD: When I was 6, I broke my wrist falling from a swing set we had in the backyard. This was one of the old-fashioned sets made from heavy metal. Over the years, after we kids stopped using the set, my dad cut down the metal to use for other projects, but he left the top part, which we played on as a kind of balance beam. Five years after the first break, I fell off that swing set and broke the same wrist.

Hi, Fred,
I don't e-file for NY state because I'm cheap and annoyed that I can't do it for free. I refuse to pay $15 or more for the "privilege" of paying my taxes. I can do it for free through the Federal IRS Web site but I don't fit the qualifications for free e-filing for New York State. I'm too old (or not old enough, when I'm 65 I can do it for free) and I make too much money. I have extremely simple taxes and I won't pay money to someone to have them done and then pay another fee to file. I also don't use tax prep software since my taxes are simple enough that I can do them myself. I download the forms from NY State, fill them in, print out two copies and mail one off to Albany.
-
I don't break. I bend.

For Laura and Cilla: The SUV was still there yesterday morning at 4:45 a.m. but the crucifix was gone. I don't know if the owner removed it or if it was stolen.

Hello, DR TCB - yes, I just woke up and feel much better!
-
Ben - Thanks for that explanation.
-
I'm happy the Vixter's evening was a success and that her grandmother is feeling better.
-
I keep thinking of Linda balancing on a stool after surgery. She is bound to be in pain. Please make sure she can't fall off if she either feels dizzy or is on any pain meds.
-
I got up at around three this morning to visit the bathroom, but when I stood up, I was so dizzy that I almost fell into the closet. Nicky was highly amused.
-
I'm up and will shortly get ready to attend a book fair.

Camera negative is what you shoot the film on - it's what all subsequent internegatives and interpositives are made from - the first generation source, the film that runs through the camera. When the film is edited then the camera negative is conformed to that edit of the film's final version. Then an answer print is created - which has all the correct color timings. Then an internegative is created and it is from that which theatrical prints are made. In the old days, they did sometimes print from the camera negative itself, which is why some films look in rougher shape - when the camera negative was left in pristine condition, then making a new internegative or scanning from that usually results in a top-notch transfer. Anything that's not the camera negative is obviously at least one generation away in quality and if the film has a lot of opticals (dissolves, fades, wipes, or fx) then you can be many, many generations away.

Good Afternoon!
Lunch!
-
And since the audition staff ordered pizzas today, I didn't have to head out into the cold to grab a bite to eat. -And, thus, I can surf the web whilst on my lunch break.
-
Otherwise, it was a relatively good day of auditions and callbacks. Oh, and ribs. :)
Oh Jose, sorry about the broken ribs.
Well... Actually the ribs were marinated, smoked then dry-rubbed. No sauce needed.
-
And the song of the morning - and most likely of the day - was "Pokemon... (mon... mon... mon... mon...)"
;D

And I just received a call from my parents... From Ft. Lauderdale. They're about to set sail on the Oasis of the Seas for a 7-day Caribbean cruise. -They sounded very happy. And warm. ;)

That was the week before Thanksgiving and I was sick. I managed to miss the invited dress as well as the Saturday night performance I had a ticket for.
The Encores! luncheon was fantastic. Now to work.

In my early twenties our first dog, a Siberian Husky named Romanoff, jumped smack up into my nose. I thought I was going to pass out. I think I had a clean break that healed fine on its own. I was left with such a little bump I was the only one who noticed it ;D
In my early 40's I fell off an unmarked curb, unmarked as it was the second curb under the normal curb, and had a hairline fracture that didn't hurt as much as a sprain in the same ankle several years earlier.
Since we have gotten Sherlock I had the double hairline fracture in my left wrist when Sherlock & his friend ran into me.
You all know about the four breaks in my right shoulder. I hope I never ever have to deal with something like this again.

Sad to report that Mary Cleere Haran passed away today. She had been on life support. I have not been able to find ot any more information in the local newspapers.

Very sad news.
-
I never intended to see all teh movies nominated for the Academy Awards this year, but... well today I watched Toy Story 3 - and cried (oh good grief) and went to 127 Hours. That was an experience I don't care to ever live through again. I knew what was going to happen, but watching it was not pleasant.
Tonight I'll watch Inception, then I only have The Social Network. I have cleared my Netflix queue of everything but The Social Network and put TS3 in the mailbox at the same post office it's addressed to. I'm hoping since Social Network is released on Tuesday I'll get it and not end up on a waiting list
-
I understand the nominations for 127 hours, but it wasn't one of my favorites.
-
What a shame about Mary - a class act.
-
There are a few nominations in the acting categories that I can't see because they aren't on DVD and aren't playing anywhere near here. So, I'm getting very close to seeing all I possibly can.
-
Back from the book fair, which was really fun, actually. I found a couple of interesting things and saw lots of friends.
-
They have an Oscar Night party at the movie theater. It's a charity event, but I think I like watching them here better
-
Sad news about Mary - condolences to those who love her.
-
Yes, sad news about Mary.
-
If I removed my NetFlix queue I wouldn't remember what was on it. We have two unwatched DVD's we can watch & mail back on Monday & maybe we will get lucky & Social Network will be mailed to us on Tuesday.
What is TS3?
-
Toy Story 3. I wrote it out earlier in the same post lol
-
Good Evening!
Very sad to hear about the passing of Mary Cleere Haran.
-
Well...
I finished with my auditions around 3:30, then took my annual walk to The Cupboard for my "meat and three". Today's selections: Country Fried Steak, Italian Spinach, Corn Pudding, Spiced Beets. -No sweet tea this time, nor any cobbler for dessert. However, I believe a slice of Chocolate Fudge Pie may be in my future later tonight. ;)
-
And now...
I'm back at the hotel, and I think I'm going to take a brief nap before I start my callbacks. Thankfully(?), they shouldn't run until midnight like they did last night.
Laters...

Very sad about Mary.

Most interesting book I got today was something I've been searching for for over twenty years - the original novel on which the film Woman in the Window is based - one of my all-time favorite movies - the novel is called Once Off Guard. Up until about six months ago I'd never even seen the book - literally no copies ever came up for sale. Then six months ago a copy showed up on eBay but it was pretty junky and barely holding itself together. Today, a nice dealer had it - not a great copy by any means, but the dust jacket is complete and the book is in pretty good condition - and it's mine. Certainly the price was right.
-
Best book today was done in a trade - I got the book of Cole Porter lyrics (the old book) signed by Mr. Porter to gossip columnist Mike Connolly. Finding a Cole Porter signed thing is really hard so I'm happy to have this.
-
Best book at the fair period was a copy of Sinclair Lewis' Elmer Gantry. For whatever reasons, this book, given its classic status, has never gone for very much money. One could always get an okay copy for around five hundred bucks or so, and much nicer ones for a thousand up to about twenty-five hundred. The dust jacket is fragile and rarely seen in collector condition. Well, this dealer I know named Peter Stern had a copy - I looked at it and couldn't believe my eyes - it literally looks like the book has never touched human hands, as if it just came out of a time machine (rather like the books in my short story called The Book Scout). As new wouldn't even describe how pristine this book was - the back of the jacket is white, and this copy is WHITE, rather than the usual yellowed and smudged thing you usually seen. There was not a mark, not a blemish on the book anywhere. His price? 15K. That's about quadruple what any normal person would pay for the book, but then again, I'd bet that this is a one-of-a-kind copy the likes of which will never be seen again. If I was a millionaire I would have bought it.
-
Meeting for dinner at Don Cuco's in Glendale at five-thirty, which will get me home in time to watch a motion picture.
-
Reading about BK proofing, it reminded me of a type of error I keep finding in books. Obviously traditional typos are minimized because of spellcheck. But I keep finding words that are similar to other words (the book I'm reading now has feet instead of feel). I guess it must be hard to find errors. But as someone who reads a lot this drives me crazy.
-
I don't think i've ever broken any body parts.

I just watched THE GOOD FAIRY (1935) with Magaret Sullavan. I wanted to like it more than I did. I did like some of the cast; Frank Morgan got to be a bit much for me.

I've watched two acts of the La Scala Ballet production of ROMEO AND JULIET with Angel Corella of American Ballet Theatre and I am now going to bed.

Well, it would appear that we're in all-time low category, depending on what happens in the next three hours. Of course, it's difficult when dear readers such as Pogue and Jeanne just abandon the site for weeks at a time.
-
Today I saw 127 hours....ouch
-
Tonight I saw Inception. Interesting
-
It's snowing outside.
-
Boy, how can I add posts.
-
I'm a bit sleepy
-
OH! Did I mention I finally finished The Lacuna?
-
It did get better in the second half of the book. I would have liked the book much better if about 100 pages of the middle were cut out
-
Tonight I saw Inception. Interesting
I enjoyed it. This is the kind of movie that I think should have a prequel...how did the whole idea get started? It seems like that could be a very interesting movie.
-
I'm very sleepy. Watching Sat night Live, but thinking I may just go to bed
-
When I woke up this morning, I fed my cat and went back to bed...to watch TV in my bedroom. I had a couple of shows on the DVR up in my bedroom, so I never came down to my TV/computer room.
-
After a couple of hours of TV watching, my sister called and said that our parents are coming to her house this afternoon, so I went also. We just chatted and played a couple of games Scrabble. I lost both games.
-

I liked it ok. I still have to see The Social Network, but I've seen all the rest of the Best Picture noms. I think I liked True Grit, The Fighter, The King's List and Black Swan the best, not necessarily in that order.

Tomorrow I have to write a brief. Seems like I've been doing a lot of that lately, but this is the last one for a while

Well, George, I think it's going to be up to you to get the totals up....night
-
Not in the mood to really watch anything - I watched a little of about six movies I TIVOd recently and now I'll just relax and play.
-
Should I leave it in my savings account or stimulate the economy?
I am going to stimulate the economy with half of it, and pay my State Income Tax with the other half.
I use my refund to pay my property taxes and to have my car serviced.
