Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both swash and buckle, and now it is time for you to post until the swashbuckling cows come home.

Here is the Sparks Notes analysis of Charley.

Another Charlie  description

Charlie:
Charlie is the Loman's next door neighbor, and owns his own sales firm. He and Willy do not get along very well, but they are friends nonetheless. Charlie is always the voice of reality in the play, trying to set Willy straight on the facts of Willy's situation, but Willy refuses to listen.

I think you should play him like Charlie Sheen.

I only saw Inception and Harry Potter among the movies that received any kind of nominatons. I don't think it qualifies me to make a prediciton or waste my time watch the show. I might tape it and watch any moment that might be interesting after the fact

Good morning, all! My last dream had something to do with a production of THE MUSIC MAN, one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and the score to WHERE'S CHARLEY? That's all I remember of it.

I have little to report today. I am heading down to Toyland shortly. I believe I'll be there for several hours. Following that, I will return here, catch up on the mail and other events, get together tomorrow morning's laundry, and chill out.

I have absolutely no Oscar thoughts. I 'm sure the winners will be happy and the losers will grin and bear it. I liked TRUE GRIT very very much, more than THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, and I suppose I wish it the best. I have the DVD of THE SOCIAL NETWORK sitting here, and I really wanted to see THE KING'S SPEECH. Unlike DR Nursie, I have no preconceived notions or negative thoughts about either.

Saturday morning greetings!  I'm about to get myself together and head out to the retirement community to deliver some things to my Mom and to tend to some things for my Aunt.  From there I'm off to Joseph-Beth Books in Cincinnati to hear Jennifer Chiaverini talk about her new Elm Creek Quilts novel.

BK, I also think you should do the reading.  I, on the other hand, have decided not to audition for AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A LITTLE because I really don't like the material and there's too much going on in my family right now to make that kind of commitment.

TOD:

THE KING'S SPEECH
Colin Firth
Natalie Portman (I would prefer Annette Benning)
Christian Bale (I would prefer Geoffrey Rush)
Melissa Leo
Tom Hooper-director
TOY STORY 3

TOD: I surprised myself the other day by realizing I've seen seven of the 10 nominated movies. How did that happen? Many on DVD already, I guess.

Best Picture -- "True Grit," although "King's Speech" is better
Best Actor -- Colin Firth
Best Actress -- Natalie Portman
Best Supporting Actor -- Christian Bale
Best Supporting Actress -- Helena Bonham Carter is who I'd like, but it will probably go to Melissa Leo
Best Director -- David Fincher, "Social Network"

We've seen several of the Oscar nominees, but we haven't seen 2 of the biggies - SOCIAL NETWORK and BLACK SWAN - so I'm going to abstain from predictions.  I'm usually wrong, anyway.

I'm impressed you can stay on a flutterboard without using your arms.

I didn't say that I didn't use my arms on the flutterboard. I have to hold the board. But I don't have to move my arms.

As for the breast stroke, i won't go fast enough doing that. But I do agree it would probably be easier on my shoulder.

I wonder if going straight forward and back would work. I might try that.

DR Cillaliz, re: your shoulder. It sounded like you were in more pain than i was.

It's hard to explain what is wrong with my shoulder. I can move my arm. But last night it was hurting a lot and it actually sort of felt how it does when you get a flu shot and your arm feels really sore.  It only felt like that last night (but that was after i gave both of my nieces baths. So having to lift them probably wasn't too great.

It felt better when i woke up. So probably rest is good. I'm going to try not to use it too much.

Went to the farmers market this morning and tried out the new bakery at the Culinary Institute of America (aka CIA). Had a passion fruit cream filled pastry and a really good decaf latte. Then went and bought some white beets, oyster mushrooms, radishes and cabbage. What I'll make with all that is unknown to me at this time.

From Cilla:
Quote
Actually I wasn't sure what it was when I first heard the pounding.  I'll have to check my doorbell and see if it still works.  I can see out the window of the livingroom to the door and the officer had his flashlight on his face so I could see him.  It was clear to me right away that it was a police officer, but I did look to see his car in the street before I answered the door.  I was a bit cautious, I had no idea what he was going to ask me about.

I'm impressed he put the flashlight on his face & that you looked outside for his car-good thinking.  It sure beats the policeman who jiggled my bedroom door that lead out into our yard.  Keith's doesn't remember if the policeman who knocked at the front door, about the same time I was in the bedroom calling "Keith, Keith", shinned the light on himself.

Back from tending to my Mom and Aunt at the retirement community and a tarnished visit to Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Cincinnati.  I got there at 12noon for a 1pm author appearance and thought I had plenty of time for a nice lunch in their Bronte Bistro.  When I didn't have my omelette after 30 minutes I flagged down my server who told me it HAD been ready, but dropped, so they were making another.  At 12:45, I asked for a check for the coffee and was told not to worry about it.  On my way out, I asked the hostess if I could speak to a manager and she gave me such a hassle I told her to forget it.  I made my way to the program venue and was lucky to get a seat in the back.  Jennifer Chiaverini was, as expected, delightful, but the store has received a strongly worded complaint from me via their website.

So every ATC poster's birthday, anniversary, wedding, dinner plans, baby being born, illness - is on-topic for All That Chat.

But talking about being cyber-bullied or cyber-stalked on another theater chat area is off-topic, according to Ann Miner and Mike Reynolds.

They wrote:

This is a private matter and has nothing to do with All That Chat, or theatre.
Just because you are a theatre writer doesn't mean that every detail of your

The fact that one of the people involved in the cyber-bullying matter (the one whose honor the gang of six was supposedly protecting, Mr. Jonathan Frank)  is mentioned on the front page of Ann Miner's site, Miner Miracles, as an example of her work creating web design, has nothing to do with that.

Anyone who doubts the world is seriously screwy only needs to know that it has just snowed in the City of Studio.

Exciting!  How much did you get?

Not much and now the sun is out.  And gas was three cents shy of four dollars.   Sixty bucks did not quite get me a full tank. Expect a rant.

Duh! ;D

A few flurries?  Did it stick at all?  How long did it last?

DR Jane - I thought about going someplace else in the area after the program, but just wanted to come home.  I had a small snack and will be ready for dinner soon.  Fortunately, the author's program was quite short.

Short & Sweet. :)  Had you been full you might have wanted it to last longer.  They did you a favor ;)

About ten or fifteen minutes.  No flurries, just little pellets.

She's in the tour. She is very talented, and we wondered why we weren't seeing her in Phoenix Theater shows lately.

Well, it's not THE KING'S SPEECH.

It's probably not even The King's Peach.

DR JOHN G that was a most entertaining story about HOW TO SUCCEED - even though it completely ignores the last revival of said musical.

I've been laughing a lot at some very good comedy timing by our DR JRand60 in a summer production by the Putnam County Playhouse. I don't much like the play, but I am loving the fact that the audience is, and I am revelling in the experience of community theatre when it's good. Mr Earles has wonderful moments and he has a great rapport with the young man who plays his son-in-law. They're very funny together and I think they should be looking for another show to give them a chance to play off each other before the young man leaves for college and the rest of his life.
