Well, you've read the notes, the notes, unlike the day, were not all that long, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently watching the Fritz Lang classic, MOOtropolis.

And the word of the day is: PEREGRINATE!

Good morning, all! This new neighbor above me would appear to be lving in the apartment, but he is ot of it between midnight and 6 am. He has arrived back to the apartent as early as 4:45am and as late as 7:15am. This morning, he arrived around 6:15 and began a long series of bumps, crashes. whatever, as if he were assembling somethng. I figured it was better to be out of bed than to wait for this fool to finish his project. I am bathed and ready for the day.
I have some WHERE'S CHARLEY? work from Encores! to do tomorrow. This morning, I will run down to Toyland, and start packing books. I want to bring home Richard Norton's 3-volume musical theatre chronicle today. I don't care about some of the books I purchesed pertaining to LADY OF THE SLIPPER, like Elsie Janis' memoirs, but there are several I would not want to lose if the office closed down before I could get my possessions.

I love it when he tells us stories about his adventures when he peregrinates!

No, but I thank you for the offer. Curtis is hoping we are re-employed. My dilemma is that I am not sure I want to be.
If it turns out that I need to move everything out ASAP, I'll give you a call. You have a good vehicale for toting things. And it would be great to see you!

Let me know - I will do my best to get in there if you need me - and yes - the back seats fold down so there is lots o' room in the van if you need to tote large quantities o' stuff
and I miss you!

Saturday morning greetings! It's raining here in SW Ohio. Later today, Richard and I are going to Cincinnati's Kenwood Towne Center for him to shop for clothes and for me to meet up with my Vera girlfriends. I also need to shop for clothes and may do some of that Wednesday when we're in Lima. Yes, Lima has a very nice mall with 4 (count 'em, 4) anchor stores.

Jane asked about my cardiologist last night: Is his name pronounced like mine?
Yes, you're DR Jane and he's Dr. Jain and your names are pronounced the same.

John G., I would like to enjoy chicken and waffles more often, but, alas, my cholesterol problems dictate otherwise. I did enjoy the splurge.

I am going to try to grow my own okra. I will have to cook it another way than deep-frying, though.

Morning all. I got a a very good nights sleep. Sorry to read about the dancers fall. Holy Ouch!
Payday weekend so that means laundry.
Gas is up to $3.45 and 9. I've never understood the 9 part. I mean I know it means it's really $3.46. So why, why, why (that's three whys!) don't they just SAY $3.46?

Up too early for a Saturday. DD Manny decided to be sick on the comforter, so when he was done, it went in the wash and I was up for the day. Last 3 performances for Working this weekend. I'm playing/conducting the 2:00pm show today - normally I'm just playing keyboard 2. I'm not looking forward to it. Way too much pressure. I'm looking forward to this being over.

Greetings from Toyland! I have two shopping bags of books to tote uptown. Luckily the bus stop is a half block away.
-
I'm up. I was up at five again, and didn't really fall back asleep till six-thirty.
-
DR Elmore, I think you are very wise to start getting your personal belongings out of Toyland. Especially the things that have value/meaning for you. With things up in the air it's a lot better to know you have your belongings that to worry that you will lose access to them at some point.

OK, I have to get my act together, clean up and get my butt to the theater. I didn't volunteer to work the 2:00 showing of the film festival, but did promise to be a floater if they need me. Luckily my office building is right next door to the theater and connected to it. So, I can go work the beginning, spend and hour in my office go back to the theater for intermission and work in my office for an hour.....or stay and watch the movies, but I was planning to do that tonight...and I've already seen them once so.....
-
I know this sounds terrible, but although I enjoyed all the work I did getting ready for the film festival, I have no desire to be there now that it's happening.
-
It's funny because most people just want to volunteer for the day of the event and not the prep, lol.

I'm sure I'll have fun once I get there.

DR cillaliz, thanks for the thoughts about clearing out my possessions. Even if the suspension ends, I'm not sure I want to continue working for this institute, no matter how much it offers me. This current tantrum from the one in charge has really dampened my enthusiasm.

I just finished watching the 6th season of WEEDS.
I really love the writing on this show. Clever dialogue. Great plot twists.

I'm at work. Just before I left my house, a friend called me and we were chatting...and then he got pulled over. He was talking on his cell phone and driving. Evidently, he didn't have his bluetooth earpiece with him. I didn't realize that. He had to hang up (of course) and he hasn't called back yet.
I hope his ticket isn't too expensive. :-\

PBS is showing the most wonderful reunion of 1960s folksingers along with footage of them from the 60s. I was flipping channels and caught Peter, Paul and Mary singing "Lemon Tree" from the 1960s on some tv program. Judy Collins and Peter Seeger just did "Turn Turn Turn," and it was wonderful. I called DR Ben and left a message; the Chad Mitchell Trio will be on in the next hour.

DR cillaliz, thanks for the thoughts about clearing out my possessions. Even if the suspension ends, I'm not sure I want to continue working for this institute, no matter how much it offers me. This current tantrum from the one in charge has really dampened my enthusiasm.
Even if the suspension ends and you return I doubt you will trust them not to do this again and prefer keeping your personal possessions at home.
Can you really afford to walk away? :(

TOD: I know at some point I saw "Twelve Angry Men." I really remember when I saw the tour that came through town three years ago. I remember thinking exactly why I didn't want to be on a jury. Two days later, I received a jury summons in the mail.

When we returned home from the market I was surprised to see Yogi running towards the car as we drove up the driveway. We stopped to let Sherlock out to play with Yogi. It was funny watching them because there is no way Sherlock can catch Yogi, especially when Yogi went flying over a rather large bush.

Sounds like Yogi is finally beginning to feel at home.

Secondly, I do what what i want.

I think you misunderstood my comment regarding your possessions. I don't think you will want to take them back to the office even if you return. I know if it were me I would be nervous this would happen again and I wouldn't have time to get my personal stuff out of there.
LOL, yes I've noticed you do what you want.

I wish the press would just ignore Charlie Sheen. They are only feeding his ego.

Truthfully, NO ONE cares about Charlie Sheen. NO ONE. Why the media can't understand that is beyond me.

As crazy as it seems there are those who care and even approve of his behavior.
-
They must approve or why else is he receiving so much attention ;)

Nope. No one cares.

I do not know why but I have been terribly tired all week --
My Mom cancelled our trip out because she was feeling tired,
so I ran some errands, did some grocery shopping and when I can back I sat down on the couch and *poof*!
three hours disappeared

((((((DR Vixmom)))))) I know how you feel. I've been nothing but tired these past couple of weeks. What I hate is when it gets to the point where I feel like if I don't lay down I'll fall down. Not like the fall I took last week. I was tired but that didn't have anything to do with the spill I took.

Depends. If it's neat and trimmed, yes. Wild and unkept, no. The same with long hair on a guy.

That was me, reviewing the posts before logging in! I'm back from shopping and dinner with my girlfriends, which was just what I needed after the last several weeks.

I have to decide to go to the auditions
I have to get cast in the show.
I have to accept the role
Ifs like that.
Well IF all that good stuff happens I would truly like to see it

One step at time. The first step is up to you. I say go to the audition. You can not control getting cast but you can say YES when (note I did not say if) you win the role.
Very good advice. I had better go read the script. I played the role twnety years ago, and if I remember correctily, there are a heck of a lot of lines.

I thought Lima was Sunday?
Yes, it is, DR TCB, but this week we're going for Shrove Tuesday's pancake supper and staying over for Fr. Richard to do the Ash Wednesday service at 7pm. That gives us all day in Lima and there are 2 things I want to do - shop at the mall and visit the public library.
-
Ginny, don't take this personally............................

G'night!

Of course, DR Vixmom! The Cincinnati signature store is previewing the fall patterns, 2 of which I don't like at all, 1 could grow on me, and 1 (Plum Petals) I love. Bought a purse and cosmetic in that design

No, DR Danise, LOL! This is one of Vera Bradley's marketing techniques - they make a limited number of items in upcoming fabrics and make them available for purchase only in sig stores for a very short period of time. The response to them, apparently, helps them decide production quantities as the season gets closer. Later this month, for example, they will release the patterns that were previewed in November.
-
Darn. I was just catching up on posts. And now people have left. They are going to miss my complaining about my body hurting.

That's kind of a NO, NO and I'd hate for the Vera police to come after BK for having them on his site...

My guess is that it is a rock, George. A very large rock.
No, but they were pretty damned heavy! A couple of arbor gates with trellises...they were wrought iron and the boxes (according to the labeling on the outside) were 136 pounds each! My dad backed up his truck into their garage and all we had to do was slide them out of the truck bed and leave them in the garage. In a few weeks, on a day of no rehearsing and after my parents have removed their old wooden trellises, I'll help them put them together and set them up....in a few weeks.
-
I do hope George comes back with a report of the heavy thing.
I have. :D
-
Thank you for the "heavy thing" report.

Speaking of TCB's IF's - Does anyone else remember the song IF from THE ELECTRIC COMPANY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqHXV5snwtI&feature=related
-
Good evening, all.
-
I don't remember "The Electric Company." I know what it was, but I don't think I ever saw it.
-
"Tell Eddie I'm a bullfrog."
Sylvia Sydney line in "You Only Live Once."
-
I saw "You Only Live Once" in a film class 30 years ago. I wasn't taking the class but I did go to all the showings because, well, it was a free movie. I can't tell you how much my sister and I laughed at this movie. We howled in hysteria almost from start to finish. We didn't buy the melodrama for a second.
The students in the class wanted to laugh, but they couldn't because they knew how much the professor loved it. But when Sylvia Sydney stands in front of a big window with the word "DRUGS" in huge letters and then breaks the window, that broke it for the class. They laughed and yelled along with my sister and me.
The professor, in a rage, tried to get Annaliese and me barred from seeing the movies, but he couldn't do that because it was a public institution and anyone could audit any class he or she chose. So, he rescheduled the screening room, but we found out about it and showed up anyway. He forgave us when we were the only two that understood Werner Herzog's surreal quasi-documentary "Fata Morgana."
Anyway, it's been 30 years and I still remember scenes from "You Only Live Once" as if it were yesterday. Nothing that bad could stay in the mind that clearly. At least I don't think so. I've seen thousands of movies since and few have left that lasting an impression. I will have to look for it at the library to see what I would think of it now. I do enjoy most everything else of Fritz Lang's I've seen since.
-
Off to the Hangin' Tree Saloon for some cowboy music.

It's never too soon!

Well, perhaps all the yard work I did earlier prepared my old body for the work I did today.
Not hurting then-great! :)

Thank you for the "heavy thing" report.
I didn't imagine the heavy thing would be arbor gates with trellises. Have fun putting them up!
-
I wasn't, but now I am. Some. Not as bad as before.

Did you take a nice hot shower or soak in a tub? May you wake up feeling just fine!!

Back from a wacky and wild dinner at Genghis Cohen with the twelve-year-old and her family and also The Singer. It was crazy fun and the food was, as always, astonishing and those who hadn't eaten it before (all but me) raved about it. After, we went to the neighborhood frozen yogurt place, Chill.
-
Prior to that, I got proofer 2's suggested fixes - some I made right away, and the rest I went over with Muse Margaret - we did quite a few of them, and left other things alone.
-
I'm at work.
I'm sure you would feel worse if you had called him.
True! I just called him back a few minutes ago, but he didn't answer. I guess I'll just have to wait for him to call me.
Well, my friend called me and his ticket is $200...for talking on the phone and speeding. :P
He won't be doing that again!

I had a fabulous time at the film festival today. I arrived about 1:30pm for the 2:00 showing and the first thing I heard was "are you bringing the boxes for the ballots?" Oy!. So I shifted into get things done gear and found 20 paper box tops and made ballot boxes for the films (we had people drop a ballot in the box for the film they liked the most- much easier to count). Then I got into being there. I gave a brief interview to the newspaper and told the crowd how to cast ballots etc. We had a good afternoon crowd.
-
Then I came home dressed up a little and went back for the evening. It was a great evening. It's out 6th annual film festival and the crowd thought it was the best no question. It was a wonderful evening and I'm looking forward to our post mortem and planning how and when we start working on next year.
-
I was hoping I'd have fun once I got there and I certainly did.
-
I capped off the evening with a couple drinks with friends at the bar at the theater. What a satisfying evening. It was even more satisfying because this almost didn't happen. We did a lot of work to pull it off and we not only pulled it off, but it was the best ever.
I don't know if there will be a whole story in the paper tomorrow. We did a huge rush job getting the ballots tallied so we could get the results to the paper before deadline. I called them in and was told that we missed the first edition that goes to the rural areas, but did make it in time for the Sioux City metro edition. Wonder what it will say, lol
-
I'm really glad I'm getting more involved in the community events. I never want to leave the house and go anywhere, but once I get there and get involved, I have a great time. Tonight was definitely like that. There is one guy in the group who drives me nuts, he wasn't there this afternoon and everything was smooth as silk. Then tonight, he said he thought we shouldn't vote for one of the entries because it was technically too long.....well it was, but it starred an Oscar nominee, led to an interview for the paper with the film maker and no doubt brought in a lot more people that we would have had without the publicity about it.
-
He even tried to remove that ballot box. The thing is the rest of us had agreed. We even agreed when he was there....so then, after the votes are tallied he tries telling me that we should pick a different winner than the audience chose and was demanding to see the tallies before I called them in. I didn't give it to him, I gave him the winners and called in their names to the paper.
Before I left he wanted to be absolutely sure I had the tallies. I do. He was also trying to give more than one winner etc. It's not how we set up the festival and it ticks me off. Things go a lot better without him, but he led this group for a long time so we can't exactly dump him.
-
Other than that it was a thoroughly delightful evening

One funny thing happened...there was a film called Lincoln where this kid has to write a paper and he keeps seeing Lincoln. There's a bit more to it, but we showed that in the first half. Then in the second half was a spoof on the ghost hunter movies and one of the lines in it was that he was going to claim he saw the ghost of Lincoln. It got a huge laugh that wasn't intended in the movie. It was just a coincidence, but was a fun one.
-
Ok, to bed for me
