Well, you've read the notes, the notes sprung forward, and now it is time for you to post until the spring cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HERMETIC!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Today is going to be a day. There's going to be a poster-hanging in downtown Olympia for Cannibal! The Musical!, today at noon, but I won't be there. I had already planned on going to my sister's to help her with..something (I don't remember what) and then I have to go to rehearsal from 3:30 to 6:30. After that, I'm free to watch TV.
-
But first (and now)...I'm going to bed. 8)
-
Good morning, all! This is a day where my schedule is not my own and I am not happy about it. I have a meeting late this afternoon about the Appalachian Christmas show, which will most likely take place around 23rd Street. Since Toyland is on 27th, I'll stop by there and get some more of my possessions after the meeting. The problem is I'm not sure that's where we're meeting, and I wn't know until I hear from DJ. So, I've got a day centered on waiting to hear from him.
Last night I had a long dream about being kidnapped along with a married couple of friends. Although the objective of the kidnapping was never clear, the kidnappers were a redneck family in some homeland terrorist group who were clearly up to something, although I have no idea what it could be, mostly threats like "we have all your information," and other gobbledy gook. I can understand someone wanting to kill me, but nobody wants to have me around 24/7.
-
I just submitted my last invoice to the Institute for work from Feb 28 to the March 3 shutdown. It's nice to know there will be a little bit of money coming in.
-
Good morning all! All clocks are sprung forward and all battery run clocks have had their batteries changed.
I'm having a little bit of a problem with the one in the living room because it is a temp. clock as well. It doesn't seem to want to reconnect with the temp. gauge outside. I'm leaving it alone for now hoping it will reset itself.
-
I've decided that for this year I want to bake my corned beef for St. Patricks day but all the recipes I've found say it takes at least 2 hours. I don't want to wait until bedtime to eat so I'm going to bake it today and freeze it for Thursday.
I've never been a big fan of boiled cabbage either and found a new recipe to sautee it with onions. Sounds good. Anyway I shall give it a try.
Here is the web page with the recipes:
http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/corned_beef_and_cabbage/
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
We have sprung ahead and all is well in Chelsea
-
Anthony is going to a concert (the New York Youth Symphony at Carnegie Hall's Stern Hall) with a friend. I will meet them afterward (they are coming downtown) and we shall have dinner at East of Eighth
-
All alone here so I will leave also.
-
I'm here catching up!!!!
As people who pay $150 will soon hear Bernadette Peters sing in D.C.: "Hi Ben" :) :)
-
That's a joke. Subscriber tickets were much more reasonable.
-
Jose - no rush or problem!
-
And the word of the day is: HERMETIC!
And The Song Of The Day Is: I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN
-
Good morning, all.
-
I want my hour of sleep back. Any sleep would have been welcome, actually.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I want that hour back too!
-
Jrand - Many many thanks!
-
bk - Did you tell the hostess at Eclectic Cafe that you would be out well before their rush of reservations started? -Well, the hostess should have at least asked you that. After last night - and after being at the restaurant for a couple of busy nights - one thing I've learned (and been told): even "regulars" need reservations.
-
So is SNL going to make Julie Taymor as famous as when Gilda Radner made Roseanne Scamardella famous back in the day?
-
Jose - no rush or problem!
Fred - Thanks.
...And it appears I can't make calls again... Which is soooooo not a good thing since I'm also supposed to make some calls today to coordinate my move tomorrow... :-\
-
Although, I guess I didn't try to make any phone calls last night, so maybe "again" was not the proper modifier.
And since I'm not able to call Apple Care right now...
Well, let me try a reset. -Pray for Rosemary's iPhone.
-
Trouble with an I Phone.....I thought Apple products were INFALLIBLE - like the Pope.
-
Loved reading DR ELMORE's Charley report from yesterday.
AND DR CP's link for his London Theatre Holiday was most excellent as well.
-
Jose - just sent you a message with what I was calling about
-
MR BK - I hope as you left the restaurant last night at 6:05, your pronouncement of never returning was accompanied by appropriate hand gestures......I.E. - Mr Danny Thomas' on Make Room for Daddy.
-
Thanks for sharing your Cadmus connection DR ELMORE.
-
Jose - just sent you a message with what I was calling about
And I think I just responded. At least I hope I did.
-
Apple again.
-
DR CILLA LIZ - I bought two of the Atlas Shrugged lapel pins.....one for me and one for my sister. They arrived a couple of weeks ago, they are very nice.
I thought I would wait until the movie came out before I bought anything else.
-
Watching BURLESQUE.
Not as horrible as it could have been......with some fun moments. But boy....CHER is old!
-
DR GEORGE is your likeness going to be on said poster?
-
And now I need to take a pause for some coffee, as well to bag up a few more things for the folks at Housing Works.
Laters...
-
Jose - got both messages. Thanks!!!
-
DR JOSE be sure to post photos of the new digs once you are ensconced.
-
Watching BURLESQUE.
Not as horrible as it could have been......with some fun moments. But boy....CHER is old!
I liked the musical numbers, but the rest of the movie:
:(
Why was Alan Cumming even in the movie?
They cut his one number...but it is in the Deleted Scenes.
-
Today, we will start packing books and DVDs to sell in Scottsdale this coming week at the Festival of the West.
-
Festival of the West.....is Carroll Baker going to be there?
Yes, I liked the musical numbers (auto tuned as they were) and the costumes....where would a club like that get a budget for stuff like they were wearing?
-
RE: the discussion of Bank of America the other day....they do not call me anymore, as we are no longer on friendly terms.
-
Something that is probably NOT news to HHW readers.....I think I knew this, but forgot it.
Martha Plimpton from RAISING HOPE is the daughter of Shelly Plimpton who sang "Frank Mills" in the original Broadway cast of HAIR and Mr Keith Carradine.....who joined the show at a later date.....and was with Shelly for awhile.
-
As I peruse the internet this morning, and particularly HHW, I am listening to the soundtrack to the 1964 film GOGOLA, which is the Bollywood version of GODZILLA (Gojira).
The songs are quite peppy and fun. I imagine the movie is, also.
-
Should you want to hear the songs from GOGOLA (and who wouldn't), just click here: http://www.raaga.com/channels/hindi/album/H002043.html
I sure hope someone releases this onto DVD some day!!!
-
That's nifty music.....but I have never heard of this movie!
Until now that is.

Martha Plimpton from RAISING HOPE is the daughter of Shelly Plimpton who sang "Frank Mills" in the original Broadway cast of HAIR and Mr Keith Carradine.....who joined the show at a later date.....and was with Shelly for awhile.
And also of some interest to some is that Martha is the god-daughter of our dear friend Bill Parry, who was among many other roles the Boatman in original Sunday in the Park..., the father in Road Show and in the Bernadette Peters Gypsy, and also starred in the original production of the musical The Last Starfighter, and who also sang a few songs in this very apartment last Friday.
-
Since I didn't get much posting done yesterday, I will try to make up for that today.
From yesterday's TOD, here are the last few books that I read:
Currently I am reading HALF ASSED MARINES, a book written by one of my interviewees Seamon Glass (star of the sci fi film THIS IS NOT A TEST).
I have only just started the book, but it is likely to be quite entertaining. Seamon used to write a column for a California newspaper back in the 1980s, and he was very funny.
-
That's nifty music.....but I have never heard of this movie!
Until now that is.
"Nacho Nacho Gogola" is the swingingest, yaar!
-
The book I just finished was ALARM OF THE BLACK CAT, which is part of a series of mystery books from the 1940s/50s featuring elderly Rachel Murdock who somehow always manages to become embroiled in murder. Takes place in Los Angeles, which makes it quite fun.
-
Next up is END OF THE LINE, which I bought because of the cover and because I like the author.
-
Today I am driving over to Aumsville to pick up my mom and take her out to lunch and so she can do some shopping at Macy's. Prior to that I hope to get my apartment picked up a little as it has developed into quite a mess of late.

Sunday afternoon greetings! We are back early from Lima because Richard has rehearsal in an hour for a choral evensong service that Rob and I will attend at 5pm. Richard's napping now and as soon as I'm sure he's awake and off to rehearsal, it's my turn.

Excellent activities.....and the books are great. Let me know how Seamon's book is.

I watched the season finale of SOUTHLAND on DEMAND.
Whew! I like that show.
Now I am watching I LOVE LUCY on Hallmark Channel.....
Ricky is waiting to hear from Hollywood about the results of his screen test......

DR Danise, I've had sauteed cabbage before. Man I haven't made that in years. I added bacon to the onions.

I just bought a new laptop. I will also be purchasing a new desktop in the next couple of days. The laptop should be here by the end of March but they give you a later date and it usually ships before so we shall see.
We will be giving the old laptop to Anthony's mother. She doesn't like the old, old desktop we gave here 4 years ago so she should be pleased with this one.
I shall scrub the hard drive of the old desktop on Long Island and also the old desktop here in NY and then we will figure out what to do with them.

After last night - and after being at the restaurant for a couple of busy nights - one thing I've learned (and been told): even "regulars" need reservations.
Had she asked that I would have absolutely told her we'd be out before seven. That's why I go that early. But, alas she did not.
-
I'm up, it looks like a nice day. It took me a while to fall asleep - I probably dozed off around two, which, of course suddenly was three. But I slept till ten-thirty, which, of course, was really nine-thirty.
-
I slept very well in Craig's room. Yogi doesn't snore and he didn't crash into me during the night. Kitty however woke me up at
5:30 6:30 throwing up on the bed. I'm now washing the duvet cover I washed yesterday.
-
I just saw the hummingbird babies!
-
We took the dogs for an early walk "before" it rained. It did rain on us in the beginning and isn't raining now. Still I'm glad we went when we did as the wind is blowing hard out there.
-
Thanks for the Japan Society Link, DR Jose. Looks like that may be a good one to donate to. I can't donate much, but want to do something

The 60-year-old man was floating off the coast on the roof of his house after it had been swept away by the tsunami.

-
OK, I'm gonna try to recoup an hour or so of sleep that I lost last night - bye for now!
-
Bruce I think you should speak to the manager of the restaurant. You might be offered something to return, if not fine. If nothing else the management knows why you won't be returning. My experience has been some sort of explanation is offered, especially a regular, is looking at empty tables. We have also been given a table with a deadline to be out by. One advantage to that is the service is fast. :)
-
I never have that problem at Long John Silver's.
-
LOL Jrand. Do they even take reservations?
-
Has anyone seen Guy Fieri's live show? I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting a ticket. Tickets for everything are so expensive these days it isn't that easy to decide what I want to do
-
Live as in the restaurant? The people eating their paid to get those seats?
-

I've offered that information and gotten a table. It doesn't hurt to ask.
-
I need a nap.
-
Live as in the restaurant? The people eating their paid to get those seats?
As in The Guy Fieri Roadshow. http://www.guyfieri.com/tourdates.html (http://www.guyfieri.com/tourdates.html) He's coming to Sioux city
-
Festival of the West.....is Carroll Baker going to be there?
No, but Clint Walker, James Drury, Robert Fuller, Dan Haggerty, Kathy Garver, Sharon Farrell, John Saxon, William Smith, L.Q. Jones and a lot of others are.
-
Here are the expensive packages
The Off Da Hook Package for $250 includes premium onstage seating, a chance to sample the food prepared by Fieri, a tour laminate, a copy of Fieri's upcoming book "Guy Fieri Food," a preshow meet and greet with Fieri and more. Must be age 21 or older to purchase this package.
The Kulinary Krew Package for $150 includes prime orchestra seating, a tour laminate, a copy of "Guy Fieri Food," a pre-show meet and greet with Fieri and more.
-
OK, I give up - what's a "tour laminate"?
-
Why is Kathy Garver at a western festival?
-
A regular priced ticket is $57.50. That's not bad. I hadn't eard that price yet, so was really wondering who was going to show up for this.
-
OK, I give up - what's a "tour laminate"?
laminated souvenirs from his show?
-
The funny thing about the Eclectic is they've been doing almost no business the last six months and more. The ONLY time this has apparently happened is when there's an opening night at the theater where the show was. The problem is, when you keep out the regulars and don't figure it out, then that opening night fickle crowd never returns. So, all they really had to do was put us at a table that was being held for a seven o'clock reservation and we would have been out by then. But instead, they kept the tables empty, lost me, and will go back to business as usual today.
-
I did a google search for "tour laminate" looks like it's the laminated thing that you see as a backstage pass that you wear around your neck
-
Took all the music to Staples for Xeroxing. I'm still one song short (I need an uptempo Menken song for a guy and I don't love any of the ones I've listened to, save for the ones we already have), and one guest star shy (I want the guest to sing Beauty and the Beast, although I could switch that up).
-
I'm thinking I'll save my money and stay home.
-
Thanks, DR Cillaliz!
I had a 90-minute nap and feel so much better.
-
We just heard from Craig. He will be heading home in about an hours and should be here by 8:00, weather permitting. So far the weather is holding & I-5 is clear.
-
I'm thinking I'll save my money and stay home.
IMHO, good choice. Unless you are a major fan I'm not sure it is worth it.
-
Our nephew who's an Air Force search & rescue helicopter pilot stationed in Japan has been sent to the damaged area to offer assistance. He says "It's what we do."
-
Think I'll go attempt a jog.
-
Holy moley on rye - it just took thirty seconds to post and then for this page to load. I'd call that slooooow.
-
DR Ginny vibes to your nephew!!!
-
Time to put the last load of clothes in the dryer!
-
Thank you, DR Jane! At least he's not, as he says, "flying over sand." He's been to the Middle East several times.
-
I'm pleased my vibe post went through because my other posts timed out before posting.
-
I'm off to hear Fr. Richard sing with the Episcopalians - bye for now!
-
No reservations as far as I know, DR JANE....at Long John's
DR DRUXY....that's quite a lne up......Mr John Saxon!
-
Back from a mile and a half jog.
-
Vibes to your nephew Ginny. I'd be very interested in any stories he may pass along
-
This weekend is the first weekend that my shoulder hasn't hurt. It's a little stiff and sore in that way, but not the pain I felt for about 6 weeks. Needless to say there's lots of cleaning I skipped doing while it hurt. I'm trying to pace myself today. I'm getting quite a bit done, but taking lots of breaks so I don't over do it.
-
Thinking about food now.
-
this will be a good week. I don't have any court hearings set. That's the first time I remember that happening in...well I don't remember the last time that happened. I think I like the way my practice is changing. I didn't realize how rarely I get to go to the office and be there all day without racing to this court or that court or the jail or somewhere. It's much more relaxing
-
Again with the slow.
-
Just finished off the ambrosia salad
-
It's working for me, don't know if that's a blessing or a curse for everyone else ;)
-
That one was slow
-
I get John Saxon confused with Stuart Damon from Cinderella.
-
Good Evening!
When I headed out earlier, I meant to run an errand or two, and then head to a matinee. Well, I ended up dawdling a little too long here at the apartment, and just ended up going to the matinee. And what a matinee it was!
-
I went to see Peter and the Starcatcher (http://nytw.org/peter_info.asp) at New York Theatre Workshop. It's based on Peter Pan pre-quel written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson - the book for the show is written by Rick Elice of Jersey Boys fame.
What a truly magical piece of Theatre! Roger Rees and Alex Timbers co-directed the production, and their directing sensibilities created one beautifully irreverent and heart-warming gem of a show. The cast is led is by Adam Chanler-Berat, Christian Borle and my beloved Celia Keenan-Bolger.
I had played the auditions for the La Jolla workshop production two years ago - the songs are written by Wayne Barker - and it was nice to see the finished project. I remember being moved to tears during the auditions when the actors were reading some of their scenes, and, yes, I cried again today.
-
*And as soon as I greeted Celia at the stage door with a hug, all I could do was cry again. In fact, I'm still a bit verklempt. But that's a good thing. ;)
-
DR FJL - I believe I spotted your ever-lovin' Skip at the end of intermission. Alas, I wasn't able to catch up with him afterwards.
-
Jose - got both messages. Thanks!!!
You're welcome, Fred.
-
DR JOSE be sure to post photos of the new digs once you are ensconced.
Well, it's basically just a very plain room. I'm really going into "minimalist" mode for the next two months. But I'll at least post a pic of the building. ;)
-

A prototype for Jessica Fletcher? ;)
-
Thanks for the Japan Society Link, DR Jose. Looks like that may be a good one to donate to. I can't donate much, but want to do something
You're welcome, DR Cillaliz. When I was walking through Union Square earlier, both the Red Cross and The Japan Society had tables set up collecting donations.
-
I never have that problem at Long John Silver's.
Do you get extra "crispies" too?
-
From Facebook it looks like Skip loved Peter and the Starcatcher too

I haven't been to his live show, but Doug from The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck (http://www.biggayicecreamtruck.com/) has. In fact, he even reviewed it for Eat Me Daily (http://www.eatmedaily.com/2009/11/guy-fieri-roadshow-report-a-real-life-drama-in-three-acts/). -And it's quite a review. ;)
I did run into Guy Fieri last summer during the New York Wine & Food Festival. He was drunk, loud and foul-mouthed, and he and his posse were also quite chauvinistic and asshole-y.
-
-But maybe he was just having a bad day that day? ;)
-
Jose - Skip says he's sorry to have missed you.
-
Jose - Skip says he's sorry to have missed you.
Well, since I was practically a blubbering fool at the end, that was probably a good thing. ;)
-
If you go to DOG BLESS YOU (http://www.facebook.com/exploredogs) on Facebook a $1.00 donation will be made to them. It doesn't seem like much but so far they have collected 50,000 fans at $1.00 each. The money raised supports their search and rescue teams which are currently in Japan or heading there.
-
They only have 8 or 9 days to raise up to $100,000.
-
I have just discovered Yogi does not like thunder. I had better distract him.
-
Back from a small pastrami sandwich and some soup. One thing Jerry's has really done right is their small versions of sandwiches, so you can now get reasonable sandwiches instead of those humungous things - they only have four ounces of meat in them.
-
It looks like we're cast now - I'm waiting for a final final okay from one performer who had to check with her husband, but I think we're fine now. Our cast is Roger Befelor (Kim Huber's ever-lovin' and the Beast on tour with Beauty and the Beast), Kirsten Chandler, Dan Callaway (his fifth, I think), Juliana Hansen, and Alet Taylor, along with Melody Hollis and a TBD guest star.
-
Greetings from Toyland! I had a good meeting about "The Show," and I am at Toyland picking up a few personal items, like all of the original 1903 scores for BABES IN TOYLAND and programmes that I purchased with my own money. We've always been treated like the poor relations on this project.
I will now find a taxi and head home.
-
Vibes to your nephew Ginny. I'd be very interested in any stories he may pass along
Thank you, DR Cillaliz! We don't see him often and, even then, he's pretty reluctant to talk about his work.
-
Back from Choral Evensong and the local Episcopal church. It was a lovely service and there was a nice reception afterwards. Caught up with a lot of friends, one of whom had with him a pictorial directory from the Methodist church we attended until Rob was in high school. This one was from the year before I moved to Middletown, so there were many pictures of Richard's family and of his mother's friends.
-
And I am home! I lucked out and got a taxi at once, so I didn't have to carry a heavy carton and shopping bag too far. Now for some dinner.
DR Ginny, I would love to see that directory!
-
DR Elmore - I'd love to look at the directory with you! You'd have stories, I'm sure...

Why is Kathy Garver at a western festival?
According to the imdb, she did episodes of some Western TV shows (e.g. THE BIG VALLEY, DEATH VALLEY DAYS, etc.)

The concert last night was wonderful
the opening number was all the kids from all the school singing together and then each school did one or two numbers the second half was a set by The Potsdam Pointercounts
http://www.pointercounts.com/html/listen.php
a set by Stony Brook University's a capella groups and then a closing set by the Pointercounts.
-
BK, re: your restaurant problem. I agree with others who suggested telling the hostess you would be out by the time the reservations came to eat. But also, if you knew you were going there why not make a reservation yourself?
-
Well, I have to be up early tomorrow to drive to the Dayton 'burbs for an echocardiogram, so - 'night!
-
Part 1 of my packing is done: all of my sheet music. 16 boxes.
All I have left to pack are my books, CDs and clothes. Thankfully, I've pared down my library, so there's not as much to pack as there originally was when I moved in here six years ago. Also, since I still had so much stuff in boxes, I don't have to pack those things up. ;)
-
Now I'm just trying to figure out just how much more packing I want to get done tonight. I'm already sleepy, so... ???
-
And as I'm sitting here on the couch and starting to nod off, well...
I'm at least gonna get a few things set aside for another trip to Housing Works in the morning.

BK, re: your restaurant problem. I agree with others who suggested telling the hostess you would be out by the time the reservations came to eat. But also, if you knew you were going there why not make a reservation yourself?
Because in over ten years of going there I have never had to make a reservation at six o'clock in the evening - ever. Weekdays, weeknights, empty at six. Unfortunately, in making many reservations for seven they simply opted to keep the tables empty for an hour.

DR GEORGE is your likeness going to be on said poster?
No. :( I've never been on a poster.

This morning we had a full house for church =- nobody, it seems, forgot to put their clocks forward - all but a handful forgot to come in thier PJs however

Some people, such as those whose faces grace the walls of the US Post office, might think that was GOOD thing!

Today we saw a local production of Avenue Q. Lila looked horrified during the naughty scene, but her friend Naomi, who sits on the other side of us, howled through the whole show.
-
It's after 11 but it feels like just after 10 for some reason.
-
Strange. It feels like it's just after 8 pm here.
-
Maybe nobody else changes but it's Arizona that shifts an hour.
-
What if some kid became President and decreed that all those extra hours of sleep they got in Arizona for all these years had to be given back?
-
No idea what that means, but it is a post.

Thanks to DR JOSE for the SHOW report.
As to Kathy Garver's appearance at the Western Show? I say, why not?
-
I may watch THE MANSTER on Elvira's midnight movie tonight.....I haven't seen it in many years.
I did not know that Ingrid Bergman's JOAN OF ARC was in COLOR.....that's some film!
-
Wait, I'm confused - do they change their clocks in Arizona?
-
Only when the clocks are broken.
-
Those last couple of posts suggest that it's time for me to go to sleep.
-
Time to put the last load of clothes in the dryer!
That reminds me...I need to start laundry now!
-
We don't change our clocks. The last thing we need in the summer is more daylight.

Maybe you should spring back and fall ahead. That would really mess things up

True...so true.

And I'm actually feeling like it's 12:36am already - like we fell back an hour instead. -Or maybe I'm finally stressed about moving everything over the next 48 hours. ???
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
In the meantime, since I am already feeling quite sleepy, and since I just organized a few more boxes, I'm going to head to bed.
Goodnight.
-
