Well, you've read the notes, the notes made you sleepy, and now it is time for you to post until the sleepy cows come home.

And the word of the day is: APPOSITE!

Morning all.
That is all.
-
Vibes for DR DRUXY after his terrible bad day.
-
Vibes for the aunt of DR GINNY.....
DR CILLA LIZ is causing trouble, as usual! And the newspaper wants to know all about it!
-
Thanks for the comments on my Audition Movie.....
-
Happy St Patrick's Day!
Yes MR BK the addresses on Laurel Canyon are strange.....the google map has trouble finding the house as well.
-
And now I am off to work. All day. Oh well.
It is going to be 69 degrees today, so they say.
-
Good morning, all! And Happy St Patrick's Day to everyone!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Excellent Vibes & Xylophones to Our BK for Financial Resolutions! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to be at Toyland by noon today. My Mac man is coming to carry off my iMac. Before I go down there I need to talk to my colleague Curtis about the Toyland situation and to Billy Hicks, our pianist on the Herbert recordings. Billy has concerns about the rcordings, and Curtis has concerns about my leaving.
My Appalachian Christmas director DJ was my guest for the dress rehearsal last night, and we ran into a lot of mutual friends. Dan Callaway, who's been appearing in BK's Gardenia shows, just did DJ's production of JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL . . . in Florida. He's got a lovely voice with great high notes, which he gets to show off in the title song "Where's Charley?"
DR Jose, I think Bill told me there are 15 players in the show, everything at the Beaumont but the solo violin.
More coffee!
-
My Mac man is coming to carry off my iMac.
But is your Handy Man still handy anymore?
Shamrock Day greetings! Spring is springing here in SW Ohio and we're all debating if it's safe to put away the snow removal tools that we keep in our cars - I vote NO, just in case...
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I can't wait until tomorrow morning when I can actually sleep in again! ::)
-
In other news...
I'm about to drop off a bag full of binders at the Equity office. They have a recycling/collection program for 3-binders, and since I found about 25 empty binders as I was packing up stuff, well...
And then I'll head back up to the apartment to clean and clear out the rest of my stuff, as well as close out my Time-Warner Cable/Internet/Phone account.
And then, hopefully, a little bit of a break before I head to work later this afternoon.
-
And Spring is definitely in the air today here in NYC! The forecasted High Temp is 62! -And tomorrow is supposed to get into the 70's.
-
OK...
I shall catch up on posts and post myself once I am back in midtown.
Laters...
-
Have a good day, DR Jose!
-
I'm about ready to head downtown. Have a good day!
Speaking of Paul Williams, I had done two parodies of Paul Williams songs. (The AIG AGAINST THE WORLD one actually got excerpted on CNN, and the Katy Perry-related one got written up in the Village Voice online by Michael Musto and as a result seemed to get about 1,000 extra views.)
AIG AGAINST THE WORLD - parody of YOU AND ME AGAINST THE WORLD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75daFChjAMw
CASH FLOW CONNECTION - parody of RAINBOW CONNECTION (about the Katy Perry-Elmo "low-cut dress scandal" last fall)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsj-X6mlu-M
-
That last post was bald self-promo, but it's a post. :)
-
And the word of the day is: APPOSITE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: GETTING TO KNOW YOU
-
It is a lovely Thursday morning. It would be lovelier if it were Friday morning, but no such luck.
I will wear a plainly obviously green shirt today so that people don't ask me if I'm wearing green. Oy!
-
I've been listening to my late friend Frank Patterson sing Irish songs, and I just had an unintentioned laugh. Frank was singing "The Town I Loved So Well" and one of the lines is:
There was music there
In the Derry air
I thoght he sang:
There was music there
In the derriere
Changes the whole meaning!
LOL, DR Elmore - Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Tyra Banks has been enrolled at Harvard Business School for a while now, per CNN and the Daily News
Greetings from Toyland! I'm waiting for my Mac man, John Greenleaf, to show up and cart away an iMac.
-
The airline has agreed to refund our non-refundable tickets...and let us keep the $400.00 vouchers.
:-\
Truthfully, I'd rather be in Scottsdale.
:(
-
Any chance you could rebook the trip and arrive late this afternoon?
-
I'm up after a good night's sleep with some of the weirdest dreams ever.
-
From elmore:
I've mailed no response yet. I am doing it Friday when I've got my things out so I can ask what I should do about my keys.
I'm glad the apology came first. Do they owe you more money?
I'm sorry you have to go through this.
-
DR Druxy I'm very sorry your trip didn't happen.
TOD:
"You and Me Against the World"
Very fond of Helen Reddy's rendition of this.
I also find Williams' own version very touching.
-
DR Ginny vibes to your aunt!
Thanks, DR Jane. I was pretty sure on Feb. 11, when I saw the condition of her home, that she would not live independently again.
-
This City is a mess today. I think St Patrick's Day in Manhattan is our Mardi Gras. My bus ride home took over an hour because traffic between 42nd St and 57th Street was at a complete standstill. The "Irish" (how many actually are Irish?) in colorful slly green costumes and hats - where do they find this getup? - are out in full force amd blocking the streets and intersections, and I suspect many of them are already looped. I believe some of them were looped at 10 am this morning. The No 7 bus was primarily empty all the way uptown, so I felt no guilt for taking up two seats with all of the scores for BABES IN TOYLAND, magazines from 1903 and 1904, and a few books. Tomorrow, I will go in, pick up as many books as I can, and put my name in all the ones there that I cannot take.
I have some duplicates of books that I needed at the office and home, like the Joseph Kaye and Edward Waters biographies of Victor Herbert, and I'll leave them there with some books I don't care about getting back, but I will put my name in everything. I may have to go back on Saturday morning for a few more, but I would like to clear out all that I want tomorrow.
I laughed at the new Borowitz Report and his comments on Michelle Bachmann's idiocy, This dumbass wants to be in politics?:
Well, to be fair, Bachmann isn't the only dumb ass in politics.
-
Any chance you could rebook the trip and arrive late this afternoon?
No. Sorry.
I'm done.
-
I guess everyone is out drinking green beer today.
-
In today's mail I got the first edits for 102 Victor Herbert songs.
-
So, what are you going to do with those edits? You're done on the Victor Herbert stuff, aren't you?
-
Help! I crawled into this bag to get a sunflower seed and I can't get out!!
I have to listen to them and give my yea or nay. The Herbert material is all recorded, but I have to deal with the edit and write a lot of notes.
I forced Craig to go buy jeans that fit. It is bad enough his jeans are too big, worse when he goes through security at the airport and has to take his belt off. ;D
Yesterday I bought him two pairs of jeans, both the wrong size which really doesn't matter. Now he has to exchange them & get something he likes. I'm so clever. :)
-
Yogi is doing much better being left behind with us. :)
-
DR Laura did you get the bird out of the bag?
-
I did, Jane. And it was quite an adventure getting a panicky pigeon out of a plastic bag with a very small hole.
-
I guess everyone is out drinking green beer today.
Nope, but we ate Jug-burgers - does that count?
-
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!
-
I left the room for a few minutes and returned to find Yogi had eaten food Keith left on the counter. It is a good thing Yogi left the wrapper on the floor as I had no idea there was food on the counter. That was Keith's dinner. ;D
Seriously, if your pay goes from 50 per hour to 45 per hour how do you say it's not a pay cut. that's the gist of this whole discussion
-
And if you say we agreed not to fight it, isn't that almost the same as saying we agreed to it?
-
I'm not nice because Laura's photo and comments made me laugh. ;)
It was there, and still is. I couldn't get it to quote. I clicked & clicked and nothing happened. I think it was timing out.
'nuff said
LOL, yup that is called a pay cut. I'm glad you have been vindicated.
I made my corned beef and cabbage last weekend, but decided to go to a local Irish bar (it's not a pub) and have their version for lunch. OMG it was terrible. They had those little round canned potatoes and just heated them. The corned beef was ok but the cabbage had no flavor. When I finished the bar tender (I was drinking ice tea, it was noon afterall) asked how it was. I said "Mine's better" and 5 or 6 people burst out laughing.
-
Oh, I should add one thing to the ruckus I kicked up. The Bar Assn is now notifying everyone about everything they are doing on the issue, asking people to call legislators and doing what they should have been doing all along. Sometimes you have to really tick people off before they take action.
I was trying to speed through all of the posts that I missed last night. I was moving right along until I got to this post:
Richard's MacBook was admitted to the computer hospital to receive a new hard drive.
I read Richard's MacBook as someone's name and I guess I missed that it was a computer hospital. So, I was shocked to read that he received a new hard drive! LOL! I am still laughing.
I'm downloading the last of the 102 songs. It looks like there will be two sets: 2-CD set of piano and cello-piano music and a 4-CD set of 102 songs by Victor Herbert.
I think we should do the songs in chronological order, from 1890 to the posthumous songs ending around 1940. Herbert died in 1924, but one of his most famous songs, "Indian Summer," was cobbled together by his publisher around 1934 from a piano solo written around 1906.
I am craving Indian food and can't find anyone to go out to dinner with me. Ron and Pat are in South America and Jim is in Westport, Washington (of all places).
This tragedy in Japan is wrecking havoc on my sleep schedule. I just can't seem to turn off CNN.
Tuesday ngiht I was watching my hunky friend Anderson Cooper. His show starts at 7:00 p.m. on the West Coast. At about five minutes to eight, Anderson reports this BREAKIING NEWS FLASH saying that the Japanese has just announced that all of the workers had left the nuclear plant. Anderson is shocked. Sunjay is horrified. Jim Walsh says this could be the end. Anderson says we will be back after this break..................................... The show comes on again and it is now a rerun of the last hour of the program! I was throwing everything I could think of at the TV screen.
I'm afraid I've been sucked into the City/Farmville worlds on Facebook and need to get out!
I'm also very sorry about what is going on in Japan. I'm amazed by how many people at work are effected by it--knowing someone who is there and wondering if they are ok.
Not me...I'm at work, trying to stay awake after only about two, count 'em TWO hours of sleep. :P I just couldn't get to sleep. Okay, I did stay up later than usual, but still...only two hours.
AND I have rehearsal tonight. We'll be dancing. That'll keep me awake.
And this is the first time today that I've even been able to read HHW, let alone post. I don't know what's going on here at work, but I dont' like it. Pages would time out and I'd get error messages, and only HHW...and only here at work. :P
But it seems to be fine now. We'll see what it's like tomorrow.
We are watching the Cincinnati Bearcats play basketball - leading Missouri by 10 late in the first half.
Druxy, it was quite warm today. It was 90 degrees. Now, I know that it is a dry heat. But it was 90 degrees. And you would have been outside.
This is the first game I've watched. Cincinnati was pretty surprised to be in the tournament at all and they're doing pretty well. Michigan plays tomorrow afternoon, but I'll be working at the AAUW book sale when the game's on.
-
Are any of Arizona's teams playing?
-
No Iowa teams in the tournament, and I haven't paid much attention so far. I'm still glued to CNN...maybe I'll pry myself away and watch a game or two this weekend
-
Arizona plays Memphis tomorrow at 2:45 pm guession that is Eastern time
Ok, now here is my question:
If this is college basketball, I would assume that these are college students. If these are students, why aren't they in class?
-
Well, DR Laura, for UC this has been exam week and next week is spring break. However, having taught at the college level, I can tell you that athletes get a lot of special treatment and instructors are expected to accommodate their schedules.
-
Ok, now here is my question:
If this is college basketball, I would assume that these are college students. If these are students, why aren't they in class?
Because Basketball brings in a lot of money for a school and this is the tournament.
-
I know, I know. I just thought it was a school, and, well, perhaps the students should be going to class. But I'm strange that way.
-
And what DR Cillaliz said...
-
If these are students, why aren't they in class?
Whatever happened to class? :)
-
I just looked at the news about the federal budget....must quit doing that....no payments in sight. I read one report that they may defer them until October. I really have to quit reading the news. It's just too depressing
-
Almost page 6
-
Can we get there?
-
Maybe this one will do it!!!!
-
Back from a nice rehearsal - we ran the show, then did a lot of detail work. It will be good to have a few people see it tomorrow night.
-
Earlier, I spent almost all afternoon watching the classic horror film, making sure all the cues on our tapes corresponded to the film order (they did, perfectly) and writing cue titles and doing the edit road map - then I sent that to the mastering guy. It was REALLY exhausting, but fun to see the movie again.
-
Since I'd only had a sandwich and no fries, I got some little deli things from Gelson's.
-
I may be wrong, but right now there doesn't seem to be anyone here but us chickens. I am listening to the horror film music in order and I love this score large. It's big, at times corny as all get out (and I think we all know how corny all get out is) and I think it's going to make a lot of cult film people very happy indeed.
-
Tonight at Cannibal! rehearsal, we ran the "fight scene" near the end of the show where Packer (the lead) gets beat up. I get to punch him once in the stomach. :D
-
I've been watching Kathy Griffin on Bravo.
I didn't know that she was on! I just started watching and have set my DVR to record the rebroadcast this weekend.
Tumwater Video is a local video rental store. It's its own store owned by local people, not a chain. I just found out today that they're going out of business. A friend told me that she's known for a couple of weeks. They had Blu-ray discs on sale, $10 each or two for $16. I bought two: Star Wars: The Clone Wars (http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Clone-Blu-ray/dp/B001GQSY64/ref=sr_1_10?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1300426402&sr=1-10) (the movie, not the series) and The Day the Earth Stood Still (http://www.amazon.com/Earth-Stood-3-Disc-Special-Blu-ray/dp/B001SMC9IK/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1300426495&sr=1-2) (it contains both the remake and the original...I bought it for the original).
There were only about a dozen Blu-ray titles left, and I had no interest in any of the other titles, so at $8 each, I figured why not? They're both in very good condition. "Clone Wars" has the digital copy disc, but it expired in November 2009. The digital copy for "The Day the Earth Stood Still" doesn't expire until April 6, 2011, but it didn't have the disc. Darn.
Also at work today, I received Dawn Upshaw's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000005IZ3) and the soundtrack to Ordeal By Innocence (http://www.kritzerland.com/ordeal.htm). I listened to both of them and they're both very good. I really enjoyed them.
