Just had a call from elmore - senility and overtiredness is a terrible thing and I am living proof of it.  I posted the notes early and was so happy I went directly to bed without opening the new topic.

Good morning, all! I knew somethng was amiss when I logged on to HHW this morning. My beloved friend BK is many things, but I've never dscribed his as absentminded or dizzy; in fact the words that most often come to mind are tenacious, focused, centered, loyal, and energetic. So, when I saw there was no new topic and yesterday's topic still open, I was alarmed: he's had an emergency with a friend or his daughter, he's either on the floor in a coma or in a hospital bed. So I called to check on him, and I'm glad I did. Not in too many years has an answered telephone sounded so wonderful. BK, I'm glad you are all right. You scared me.

So, back to me. I slept dreadfully and as a result slept late. I remember little of my dreams except that i was on the Miami University campus in front of the student center.

Today, I have another trip to the Lincoln Center NYPL for more Histporic Newspapers Online research. Who knows what else will occur today?

More coffee!

It's just fatigue, BK! I feel my body slowing down and I feel tired all the time, but I'm older and out of shape. You'll be young and energetic for a long time yet.

I hope the rest of your days goes swimmingly with no frightened phone calls from the east coast!

I'm glad you called.  I would have noticed it soon thereafter - I'd just gotten the announcement posted everywhere - that was a problem in itself, since for the first time the webguy's alarm didn't go off, so we went live twenty-five minutes late.

I'm listening to John Houseman's retelling of the premiere of THE CRADLE WILL ROCK on the 1985 recording. The premiere was on June 17, 1937, 20 years to the day before my beloved brother Randy was born.

Now I want to read Houseman's memoirs again.

Monday morning greetings!  Nice as he was, Matthew's attempt to help me fix my computer last night did not hold and I had to have another Apple Care session this morning with James.  He walked me through another process that, alas, did not solve the problem, so Richard and I are off to the Genius Bar at the Cincinnati Apple Store.  Thank goodness I purchased the extended Apple Care and my laptop is still under warranty.

PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT is a mean-spirtied show, magnanimous only to the leading characters and their families and cruel/nasty about pretty much everyone else - not that there's anything wrong with that, but the hard edge of the show took me very much by surprise.  Not for the sensitive in terms of what offends.  Dead kangaroos, dead kuala bears, if the idea strikes terror in your heart that such things would be the subject of humor - not the show for you.

For SISTER ACT, looks like the original bookwriters are still credited, with Mr. Beane getting credit as well separately.  But don't underestimate Jerry Zaks of course, who i think is new to the show in NY.  And Victoria Clark is magic, magic, magic in a difficult but complex role.

Today is my mother's 84th Birthday.  She started the day with a massage (she calls it her "treatment") and tonight is out for dinner with friends.

Happy Birthday to Cilla's mother.

I am sure that elmore will be rushing off to see it, since his beloved Victoria Clark is in the show.

I'm getting front row seats for many performances; there's no actress better at the see-how-hard-I'm-acting school of drama.

My friends Rodney Gilfry and Caroline O'Connor have the leads in SWEENY TODD in Paris. I wish I could see it.

One of the great joys of my mother's life was when she was asked to join PEO.  Still, I remember that her "sisters in PEO" were right there at the funeral to make sure that she was either buried wearing the pin, or that it was returned to them.  I thought that part was a bit odd.

Has anyone heard of this new diet product called SENSA?  You apparently shake it on your food  before you eat it.  According to the ad, you don't need to change your eating habits or excercise.  I made the mistake of clicking on a hyperlink, and now I get e-mails every day from them.

I was wondering if Ms Clark has hired her publicist yet to get that second Tony for her apartment! She won the last one completely on publicity. It wasn't that overrated performance.

One of our local television stations did an hour long special about giant earthquakes in the Pacific Northwest last evening.  If I put together everything that they said I should keep on hand for when, not if the big quake strikes; I would need an extra bedroom to store all of it.

I had a class session that ran longer than expected. (One of only three class sessions. This online learning setup is strange).

I also received my last paper back, which was on a book I had no interest in and ended up with a quote from "Once on This Island," which told the same story only better. Got a better grade on that paper than the one that preceded it. Go figure.

If I told you I'd have to kill you.     The public version is a Philanthropic Educational Organization.   It's a sisterhood....

Well, here, this describes it better than I can http://www.peointernational.org/ (http://www.peointernational.org/)

Last night, George said thsi about Season 4 of MAD MEN:
Quote
Well, you've got plenty of time before next season...season five won't be broadcast until 2010.

Does anyone have a clue what year George is trapped in?

Nope.

Today is my mother's 84th Birthday.  She started the day with a massage (she calls it her "treatment") and tonight is out for dinner with friends.

Happy Birthday, the Mother of DR Cillaliz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Back, DR KevinH's landline service!

Have to say I'm enjoying my recording of DWS with the classical music.  They should do this more often

Here are the sour cherry-chocolate scones I made this morning. Very tasty. I had to freeze most or I would have eaten them.

No clotted cream? or even just some creme fraiche?

My computer required 5 hours at the Genius Bar.  I had to purchase a large thumb drive and download anything I wanted to keep before they wiped the hard drive and reinstalled the operating system and iWorks (word processing, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint clone).  It's now kind of like a new computer with nothing on it.  My email address book is gone and I'm considering using a web-based mail program.  Meanwhile, message me here or on Facebook if you need to reach me.

DR Ginny - If you transferred your iWorks, you Address Book should have been saved in the back-up. -Unless your "email address book" was not stored in Address Book/Contacts. -And if you used MacMail, then your addresses should be saved there too.

Well, DR Laura, fortunately my only expense today was the price of the thumb drive.  Oh, and the jacket I bought at J. Jill and the Easter gifts I bought at Godiva (one for Mary Linda, one for my mother) when we shopped while they were working on the computer.

Was the Vera Bradley store closed?

My life is really really good and happy when it's simple and orderly, boys are not simple and orderly, they are just boys. :)
