We are somewhat underwhelmed with the guest list this year - especially as this is the 30th anniversary and we were expecting 'something special"

In the past Charles Pogues close and personal friend Harlan Ellison was a regular - but his last visit was in 2008

but we have had our tickets since Ocotber and we are transportation for several of the Vixter's friends - and it beats doing the laundry!

so I will not be around much if at all this weekend

Post by: elmore3003 on April 15, 2011, 06:17:07 AM: Good morning, all! I am bathed, dressed and on my first cup of coffee. I'm getting concerned about the EILEEN deadlines so that's been addressed. This morning, I have a bit of work on the recording dialogues for Act Two. The Act one and Two Finales are half sung and half dialogue, and that's got me pondering on how much dialogue is needed, if any, between numbers in the acts to explain what the hell is going on when the Finales rev up. So, I'll present my initial thoughts and wait for feedback from the powers-that-be.

Yesterday, I was able to match up an unpublished Herbert song with the show for which it was written and that gave me both a date (1897) and a lyricist (Harry B. Smith). That was a good moment.

Tonight I'm having dinner with John Graziano and his wife at their home in Flushing, a place I've never been, so around 5 pm I will take myself to the No 7 subway and its last stop. I am looking forward to this.

She chose something from T&S and asked me to do the Deborah Kerr part. That was about ~~100~~ 35 or 36 years ago. We performed the scene in MU's Experimental Theatre, DR Elmore's old stomping grounds.

She graduates this year and will major in engineering next year at Western Oregon University (then transferring to Oregon State after a couple of years.) I am so proud of how well she and her brother are both doing since they arrived in the US.

It's raining out and it's coming in from somewhere. The guy was a little late arriving to put in the water heater, but not much. It took the plumber 2 1/2 hours to get the job done, but he wasn't wasting time, so no complaints there. I spent that time with my steam vac sucking water out of the rug. But the heater and duct work is in and we're much safer.

BUT, as soon as I took a moment to relax I found an email from my mortgage co saying I hadn't paid my mortgage. I did...via THEIR website. My bank said there are no waiting transfers and it hasn't been paid, so now I have to deal with that.

Oh and Boo just threw up. Do i really want to go to work today?

We put it in a mesh cage. It eclosed yesterday. This morning Wae-Ling tagged it and set it free.

Breathe in, breathe out....hey no carbon monoxide and it isn't even noon yet. No hot water for awhile, but no appointments at the office either, so I may just go in grubby and get a few things done.

Right at the elbow it's leaking like a sieve and it's right by the wall where the water is. I have a big bucket under it and have emptied that 5 times. I need to figure out how to fix the downspout, even temporarily, so I can have someone look at it

The surprise: she took out a new Fancy Nancy book (the poet one) from her school library. Neither one of us had read it or even knew about it.

I do love Fancy Nancy. My sister thought it was hysterical that she considered this a surprise for me. :)

IT actuallys tarted with Rick going crazy when he and the girls had to be shut in. He was scratching so much at the door I thought he was going to wreck it so I put him in his carrier for about 15 minutes. It calmed him down and I let him back into the room. He didn't scratch again. I think he's mad at me, though.

When it's a funeral, it's no big deal to just sit quietly and act like you aren't a catholic. There will be others doing the same. There's a lot of standing and sitting. I try to follow that. I still remember a funeral when I was the only one standing and didn't realize it. A friend had to tap me on the shoulder and tell me to sit down, lol

This downspout is original to the house. It's big and no easy way to take it apart. I found something on This Old House about patching it with metal and roofing cement, that may work

I think I emptied it abou 15 times....there was water....I have fans and a dehumidifier going. I think i can salvage the carpet. Not so sure about the drywall...

I love "Desk Set." The Christmas party scene where Hepburn sings "Night and Day" just makes me want to work for that company. And I love how hilarious the size of Emerack, Miss Emmy, the computer, is.

Traffic on Laurel Canyon was backed up for two miles - I managed to get off and take an alternate route, thank goodness. But even the alterate street (which usually lets you out two blocks east of Laurel Canyon, right where the offices of Varese Sarabande are) was closed off, but I simply stayed on the street I was on, went up a hill and came down about four blocks east of that. There are helicopters everywhere right now, and traffic on Laurel, both north and south is standing there. So, no other trips by motor car today, other than food and mail a bit later. But neither of those trips are anywhere near the problem area.

How they identify a suspect who then flees on foot is anyone's guess, but he's apparently hiding in the vicinity of Carpenter school (which is just up the street from the Varese offices). The school is on lockdown while they hunt this sucker down. It's very unnerving hearing those helicopters circling.

He was still unique as he was the only blue eyed dog there. Keith began to feel somewhat self conscious watching people point and comment to each other. I thought it was funny.

I had the previous Polish release of the score, but this newer one has some really interesting bonus tracks of Komeda futzing around on the piano trying to come up with just the right combination of tritones to invoke Satan. ;)

Naturally, at that time of day, the park is normally closed. Sadly, it turned out that the Pagoda, which was built in 1914, was burning. The building is often used for weddings and other events. I guess the damage was extensive. So sad, no doubt arson.

I just coated them with a little olive oil & some seasoning & baked them. I used a mixture of a cheese seasoning & pepper on mine. For Craig I made vegan ones with paprika & pepper. I then baked them for 15 minutes on each side. They come out soft vs crispy.

From what I have seen on TV, it appears that the roof was all wood under the tile.

I had stopped at the farm and home store and bought everything to rig up a temporary fix, but it was very temporary and I had no long term plan. So Chris and Edith stopped over. He took a look at it took part of it off and headed to the store. He came back and was able to rig up a temporary fix and will come back tomorrow to fix it permanently. I am so thankful. It was nothing for him, but it was a huge deal to me

I had stopped at the farm and home store and bought everything to rig up a temporary fix, but it was very temporary and I had no long term plan. So Chris and Edith stopped over. He took a look at it took part of it off and headed to the store. He came back and was able to rig up a temporary fix and will come back tomorrow to fix it permanently. I am so thankful. I can buy the membrillo all the time. I was using fresh and, boy, the guava ice cream is delicious, all heavy cream and fruit and sugar.

It's in the old La Madeleine space on 43rd & 9th - just a stone's throw from Chez Kennon & Landau. -And I believe there was a HHW Get-Together held there once (at La Madeleine). It was also a second location for Café Un, Deux, Trois, after La Madeleine closed, but that only lasted a few months. In any case...

Elsewhere is the sister restaurant to Casellula - a.k.a. my favorite wine and cheese place in NYC. Same owners, same main chefs. Alas, the pastry chef makes different desserts for each restaurant. Thankfully, the employee "discount" applies at both places. ;)

Anyway, there is some mold/mildew just around the edges and I think some of the drywall is wet on the bottom. This is sort of good news, it's the wall that I've never liked and thought they didn't do well. I'm not sure if I"ll have to cut some or all of it out. I may call said building inspector friend and have him stop by and look at it.

He was at the party tonight. I may see if he'll stop by and look at it to see if I need to put in new strips. In some ways this was a very good day. I never ask for help. I think it's time I started asking.
