Well, you've read the notes, the notes had some terror and were written in Studio City, and now it is time for you to post until the Studio City Cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VOCIFERATE!
-
First post. Huzzah!
-
So many things happening yesterday at HHW!
It sounds as if the Mercury Retrograde has caught up with DR CILLA LIZ.....oh well, it will be over on May 28.
-
MR BK do you have one of the gentlemen singing "Perfect Gentleman" from MINSKY'S?
-
TOD:
JAWS
-
Or maybe "Mayor" from the Off Broadway musical

-
One year ago today, MR BK, DR CP, DR EVIL KURT, and I attended the Indianapolis performance of Le Cortex Du Planete X.
Mr BK with Fred and Joyce Bunson, Indiana versions. ;D
-
And now I am off to work. Oh well.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I need to start brewing my tea.
-
And that is not a euphemism.
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
"Jaws"
"Close Encounters of the Third Kind"
"Raider of the Lost Ark"
"The Color Purple"
"Schindler's List"
"Catch Me If You Can"
-
And it's...
Record Store Day (http://www.recordstoreday.com/Home)
-
And now that my tea had brewed, it is time for me to drink it.
And then it will be time for me to get ready for my brunch shift.
So...
Laters...

I like Stephen Speilberg movies, I think ET will always be my favorite

Good morning! The cats let me sleep until 8:00 this morning. I guess all the drama and excitement wore them out.
-
Good morning, all!
This is another lazy weekend for the most part. I have some research on some Appalachian folk songs topics and I have to deal with the latest EILEEN crisis that was dumped in my lap yesterday afternoon by my colleague Curtis.
DR cillaliz, what a great thing for Edith and her husband to do for you yesterday. I hope this will resolve the drainage situation.
More coffee!
-
I'm up. Cats are fed and I've medicated Callie. Now, off to find breakfast and a good fan that will dry the basement once and for all. I have a fan but it's really old and not very powerful. Then I'll scrub the few moldy spots off the carpet with borax and water. I'm considering spraying the solution on the spots on the walls, but may just cut out the wet part and replace it when everything has totally dried out. There is no mold or mildew smell at the moment. I want to keep it thata way
-
LOL, that was a typo, but I kinda like "Thata way"
-
Ok, time to get dressed and get on with my day.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Off to the hospital to see how Richard is doing, then on to a Pilates class, the first is about six weeks. My body needs it, but I fear what my body is going to feel like afterward.
-
BK, I e-mailed you a few more Strouse songs. Hope there's something there to use.
-
DR Elmore, I thought it was really nice of them. Edith has said many times that I should call Chris if I need help, but I've never really felt right about it. Of course, I'm not good at asking anyone for help. It meant a lot to me that they called and came right over.

Saturday morning greetings! Second stay-at-home day in a row and I'm lovin' it - maybe I'll finally get out the Easter decorations.

Last night DR Jose said:
"DR Ginny - My friend, Philippe Pierce, is currently in that production of La Fille du Régiment you saw the other night at Dayton Opera. He's "Le Paysan" ("The Peasant")."
I would have been surprised, Jose, if you DIDN'T know someone in this production! We enjoyed it very much and hope Sharon thinks of us again when she's trying to get rid of her dress rehearsal tickets.
-
DR Cillaliz - how nice of Edith's husband to help you yesterday!
-
DR Cillaliz, you troubles with the basement remind me that I am very, very happy NOT to be a homeowner any longer! Whew!
-
Other then RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and parts of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE 3RD KIND, I have not seen any Speilberg movies, it would appear. And since I have never bothered to see RAIDERS a second time and never had a desire to see the all of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS...well...there are some films of his that I am sure I will see one day.

RIP Trevor Bannister
I always felt that ARE YOU BEING SERVED went downhill around the time he left that series.

I believe the series more properly would be described as going down STAIRS after Bannister left.
Ba-dum dum.

Today is DW wife Betsy and my anniversary. We are auctioning the kids on eBay as our present to each other. ;)
-
I heard a nice tune on Sirius XM last night by an artist named Jose Gonzalez. Imagine my surprise this morning when I discovered Jose Gonzalez is Swedish.
-
Monday is Passover, for those of you who are wondering why that night will be different from all other nights.
-
Many years ago we were in L.A. for Passover, and that is when BK and I first met face to face.
-
Happy Anniversary to DR JMK and DW Betsy!
-
We survived an interminable Beverly Hills Seder that year at Betsy's brother's in-law's palatial mansion, which is basically a living art museum, replete with display cases and vaults in the wall. Really incredible, actually. Zach was still a toddler and we kept him basically chained to our side the whole night. We were literally on our way out the door when Zach, in a move which still defies physics, managed to reach out, grab a priceless African baked pot which was on an end table, and then throw it violently against a wall where it smashed into a million tiny pieces. Strangely, we've never been invited back to their home after that.
-
Happy Anniversary to DR JMK and DW Betsy!
Thank you, Ginny. :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - decent night's sleep with some really peculiar dreams.
-
We're not doing Perfect Gentleman - not my favorite. We are doing one song from Mayor.
-
From DR Jose:
OH!
DR Jane - My friend, Jason, is currently starring in Holmes & Watson Save the Empire at Oregon Cabaret Theatre.
-I'm not sure they allow dogs inside the theatre.
No dogs, they do serve food, or we would definitely go. Since your friend is in it maybe we still can. I'm not sure if I can tolerate sitting in the chairs that long. Before my shoulder they killed my back. I'm not the only one who complains about the chairs or takes a pillow. I could ask, again, if they got new chairs. Did Jason say if the show is good?
-
Is DakotaCelt still around these parts? I have just discovered a great new Celtic group, Ceredwen.
-
Happy Anniversary to DR JMK and DW Betsy!
Much happiness. And I hope you get a good price for the kids.

My friend Richard didn't make it. He died last night.
So sorry to hear that.

Jose I think you need a trip to Portland & Ashland to see your friends perform. ;)
-
From DR Cilla:
It was a very pleasant surprise. I didn't even hint to her that I could use help.
That makes it extra nice. I'm glad they rescued you.
-
Thank you DR Cilla. Craig brought Kitty out to visit with Sherlock. He looked soooo cute & happy. :)

Glad to hear that Cillaliz has gotten some support with the drainage problem. I suspect the whole Cillaliz household is pooped from the week's excitement.

DR JMK, I see you must sign up for ebates, but then do you shop from their site? Are you able to take advantage of the many promotions that some stores are offering?

Posts are very slow today. Don't know if it's a HHW problem or my Time Warner.

This morning I went for a walk, and this is what I saw:
This is the giant yucca skipper -- our target butterfly for the day. Wae-Ling found it.

Red-spotted purple caterpillar.

Canyon tree frog (I think)

Orange skipperling

Variable checkerspot

Mourning cloak caterpillars
(http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5187/5625695374_98c0bbec34.jpg)
The hummingbird flew off. Someone lifted up Wad-Ling so she could see in side the nest. She reported two jelly-bean sized eggs.

No. Nobody was there when I arrived this morning. They must have left after he died. I sort of figured it before the nurse told me because there was nobody there, and the first day I visited, there had been at least 50 people from all around town.
Richard loved wine, great and small, though he shared some great wines with me over the years. I will lift a glass in his memory tonight.
-
Did the nurse tell you he passed away? Usually they won't tell you if someone is moved to another facility.
-
DR John G I shall toast you & Richard tonight when I have a little wine.
-
Back from errands and whatnot and no packages and breakfast and banking and post office. I'm really tired, but at six I must off to Grant Geissman's to do two little fixes (his program for reasons that make no sense, shifted two lines on two separate pages that caused a problem - once those are put back where they belong then we're all done and he'll send this off tonight.
-
Went on an airboat on the Everglades for the first time. Saw water and weeds. I could have looked out my backwindow and saved $20
-
LOL. I have always heard a water trip on the Everglades is beautiful.
-
Cool photos once again DR Laura

Thanks to all for the good wishes.
Jeanne, yes, you can use any promos that are valid at any site. And yes, you start your shopping at eBates and then click through to the appropriate site. It's painless.

We just got back from a rather raucous funeral of a news anchor who had taken over from Betsy at a couple of jobs. Broadcasters really know how to throw a party, even when it's a funeral! :)
-
We then went to a Relax Your Back store where I tried a Teeter Hangup. I may get one, it felt pretty good. The hilarious thing is I recognized the store owner from our association probably close to 30 years ago--I was "house" pianist at a very tony downtown Italian men's clothing store which, yes, had a grand piano in the showroom, and he was the ice cream scooper at the place next door I used to frequent on my breaks.

I could use some back relief right now. I don't know where my shoulder could hang if I tilted like that. ;)
Fun to recognize the store owner from the "old" days. :)

Yesterday, while I was helping a coworker jump start the battery in her car, the power went out in our building. It was almost 5:00 pm on a Friday, so they closed the building. I actually had a CD in my computer that's still there. We found out that there was an accident a couple of miles south of there...Man arrested after chase starting at Millersylvania (http://www.theolympian.com/2011/04/15/1618109/man-arrested-after-chase-starting.html) (Millersylvania is a park south of Olympia).
-
Anyway, we all left and I went home for a little bit. I didn't even have time to turn on my computer. I had to go to my sister's to feed her cats and change their litter boxes. After that, I went to the theater, where we had our official opening night of Cannibal! The Musical! We had almost a full house and they were a great crowd. They were with us most of the time. Pug, our director, said that it got a little slow in the second act, but overall went quite well.
-
After the show, a bunch of us went upstairs to the Eagles club and partied and chatted and danced and drank (no one drove drunk, though). They closed at 2:00 am and several of us were still there. We decided to walk a couple of blocks to a 24 hour coffee shop and were there for about 45 minutes or so. Then we all went to our respective homes. I came home and went directly to bed.
-
I didn't wake up until after noon, and I watched some TV until now. I need to take a shower, feed my sister's cats and then go to the theater. After tonight's show, Pug is having a party at her place. It's going to be another long night, but tomorrow's performance isn't until 8:00, so I have another day to sleep in. :)
-
And that was my Cannibal! The Musical! opening night. :D

George - Do critics come on opening night?
-
I spent 71 minutes on the phone with 2 different people at AppleCare and, finally, my screen saver is working the way it's supposed to.
-
DR Ginny I hope this is the last of your computer problems!!!!!
-
Ugh! I really don't want to deal with the basement. It's drying but I still have some mold and mildew around the edges of the room. I decided to try borax instead of bleach - mostly because I have it. I mixed a solution of it and sprayed all the mold. (there really isn't very much) It's supposed to be a fungicide. I still need to scrub it all off. Blah. I just can't bring myself to do it.
-
DR George has been very busy having fun. :)
-
DR Ginny I don't miss having a basement!!!
-
If I lived where you do I'm sure I would want one to hide in when a tornado hits. We have spent time doing so during storms.
-
DR Ginny I hope this is the last of your computer problems!!!!!

Though I admit that the few times I've called Apple Care they were both knowledgable and attentive. Better than your average customer service.
-
Congrats to George on a successfu opening night.
-
We knew that DW Betsy has a sense of humor. I trust it is in good stead. :)
-
I was also too tired to go anywhere, so I didn't go to a movie. I really want to see The Lincoln Lawyer, Conspirator and Arthur. So do I do laundry, clean the house and deal with the basement tomorrow....or do I go to a movie?
-
I am trying out my new AC unit. When my lease was up I decided to stay on, but asked if an AC unit could be installed. Some of the apartments in this building have them, some do not. Mine did not. I was expecting to have to pay for it myself, but the manager readily agreed and took care of it at no cost to me. Nice. I hope it doesn't run up my electric bill too much, though. Last year I positively died on hot days.
-
Cillaliz, go to the movie.

Especially since you have free passes.

If I get up early, I may be able to do all of it tomorrow AND see a movie....or I may sit in my chair...not sure yet. I did buy a little roast beef today

Jane and JMK, is the Teeter Hang-up one of those inversion things? I bought a BioMat, which is a large infrared heating pad, which feels WONDERFUL on my back. It's also excellent for my circulation. There are smaller, cheaper units available, too. The intrared heat penetrates much more than a standard heating pad and it's a "nicer" heat. Hard to explain, but it sure feels good. These old bones (mine) need all the help they can get.

Jane and JMK, is the Teeter Hang-up one of those inversion things?

Yes, that's what I was thinking of. It made me sick--something to do with my neck injuries, I think. I bought a foam wedge and put it under one end of my BioMat, so my legs are elevated.
-
Other then RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and parts of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE 3RD KIND, I have not seen any Speilberg movies, it would appear. And since I have never bothered to see RAIDERS a second time and never had a desire to see the all of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS...well...there are some films of his that I am sure I will see one day.
Mike, I suggest if you want to see CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, see the original cut of the film. I think the last DVD I saw had three different versions. The Directors Cut, or whatever they called it took a lot of the magic and the humor out of the film. They added a lot of magic at the end, but I don't think it really needed it.
-

I use a Battle Creek Thermophore heating pad which is electric. It is different from regular heating pads as it delivers moist heat. I have let it get too hot a number of times.
How does the infrared pad deliver heat?
-
Maybe I should think about some dinner.
TTFN.

Thank you, DRs Jane and Jeanne! I'm being very cautious with the computer since the hard drive had to be reinstalled. And I'm trying to better understand the operating system before cluttering it up with a lot of files.
Yes, Jeanne, the AppleCare people are good at what they do - and ver-r-r-ry patient.

I have a couple friends in similar situations to what I was in when I left my job working for the federal government. There are differences, but it's the same leaving a good salary to get away from the place they are working. It was being discussed by several people at the party last night and I had to stop and remind them that I did the same thing...without missing a beat the response was..."Yeah, but you are happy now. Much happier than you used to be" Wow. It's true, but sometimes I forget how it was back then and I didn't realize people have noticed the difference.

...And the rain seemed to drive everyone into Elsewhere today for brunch.
In fact, it was the busiest Saturday brunch since they opened.
The day started off kind of slow, but then after 12:30...
Needless to say, I've been spending tonight just taking it easy. Some wine, some TV, some laundry, some HHW.

It's nice to know that your DS Zach has always been one to follow directions.

I don't know. Guess it's time to check the weather forecast and/or call my parents.

Don't mean to be an alarmist, it may be fine there

Has anyone seen Wonderland? It opens tomorrow, curious about what people think after the changes during previews
-
Vibes to everyone who has been impacted by storms in the East and South today

OMG Look at the face on the Easter Bunny. If I was a kid it would scare me. Heck when it came up on the news tonight it scared me. "Mommy, who punched the Easter Bunny's face in"
-
I would have cried, Cillaliz.
-
It was a photo op for kids. Good grief, couldn't they have fixed the face before posing for photos?
-

Did the nurse tell you he passed away? Usually they won't tell you if someone is moved to another facility.
She did. And she used the words "passed away." I was grateful she did, so I thanked her before leaving.
-
I'm sorry, John G. I was hoping maybe he was transferred. I had a time, once, when someone I cared about kept getting moved, and they wouldn't tell me anything.

Went out to dinner tonight and the seafood restaurant was so bad and so geared toward 20somethings that we decided to leave after appetizers. So we went down to the road to another place, Greek, that we enjoyed. Then we stopped at a wine bar owned by good acquaintances (the owner lost her brother this week, so we commiserated for a minute about how it could have been a better week). Then we went to a third restaurant, Mexican street food, to make it a truly progressive dinner.
And I don't need to eat for a week.

(((JOhn G)))) my condolences to you and to Richards family - VIBES of comfort

It is raining unbelievably hard and has been for several hours now --- the roads were flooded and of course as I delivered the girls home it would suddenly redouble in ferocity as the poor girl stepped from the van... (we had 5 passengers as well as the Vixter and myself -- Vixdad wisely took his own car)
My basement is leaking so I have put towels down to act as dams...
:3the windows are rattling and for some reason , although the phone has not rung )(and I would not expect it to as it is 1:34 AM) the answering machine keeps playing its message "please leave a message after the tone"
-
Gotta get up in 6 hours and probably deal with rain related destruction before we collect the girls and head ti the last day of ICON30 so beddy by for me
-
I had a little potato salad and then chopped liver for a snack.

I went to Grant's and we fixed the two little problems and the book and cover and back cover is done. However, I had to come right home and write the flap copy for the front and the back - that took a while, but it's done now.
