Oh, my, that sandwich is so not on my diet!
I have to be out of the apartment around 8:15, for a morning of errands. When I return, around noon, I'll call for a studio. DR Jose, thanks for the studio info!
The street department has arrived!
Thanks, DR Jose. There are some limbs down in our yard, but no other damage that I can see. It is, however, much colder than when I got home from my book group last night.
Oh, my, that sandwich is so not on my diet!
Did my work out this morning - the diet is going okay.....I am not hungry.
DR Jose, I wish we got the cooking channel.
There were two cats sleeping on my bed when I woke up this morning. There is hardly room for my feet, lol. And if I move my feet, Ricky bites them. So much for wishing they'd sleep on the bed with me, lol. Actually I love it, I just don't get much sleep
Was doing some research last night and discovered there was a Bollywood version of HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, titled BADSHAH, made in 1954 starring Pradeep Kumar.I'd like to see Badshah sometime, unless the title literally means bad shah.
It is not yet out on DVD, but hopefully one day!
There was also a 1950s Bollywood version of FRANKENSTEIN in the works, to star Sheikh Mukhtar. It was advertised as "in production", but looks like it never saw that light of day. I have been in contact with Mr. Mukhtar's son and I am hoping he can shed some light on this proposed film.
I, too, watched "The Boy Friend" last night. It's one of a few films that cause me to grin from start to finish. It's so wonderful. It's so joyous. It's a perfect vision, IMO.Will have to get it somehow.
I was wishing my 37-inch screen was a lot larger last night. I wanted to be enveloped by it. It's not an ultimate, near-ultimate, nor even a perfect presentation. The sound should be stereophonic and I think they could have found a better master (or, hey! Why not the negative?). There were a couple of quick jumps in the first number I don't recall seeing on the LD video. Otherwise, it seemed complete (except for that odd fade before Intermission -- Bruce? Is that the way it was??)
The cast is as perfect as any I could imagine. Twiggy, Christopher Gable, Antonia Ellis and Tommy Tune are all young and wonderful. The dancing is a dream given that this was a 2nd-rate (at best) theatrical company (with an apparently BRILLIANT art director doing its sets). The fantasy sequences are a major joy (only one seems a bit prolonged, and that's the forest idyll fantasy). This film represent Ken Russell's genius perfectly. Max Adrian, Vladek Sheybal, et al, are simply wonderful.
Being a standard (albeit anamorphic 16 X 9) transfer, it didn't up-convert as well as other standard DVDs have done when played in my Blu-ray player, but to have it is the thing. And happily we now have it.

You're welcome, DR Larry.
DR Jose "Eli" reminds me of Sherlock when he doesn't want to move. Yesterday knowing I would be backtracking a section of the trail I put a leash on him. As soon as I began the backtrack I got yanked to a sudden stop, turned around to see Sherlock's feet firmly planted into the ground with that "now way!" expression on his face. ;D We did go the way I wanted. :)
DR Jose I would have recorded Eat St, but you're right they are already on episode 3 here.

I wonder if this is how DD SHERLOCK wrote up the incident on his blog?
BK, did you ever find a guest star for the Strouse show?
I've been studying this "Blarney" song from Ohio Light Opera, and I don't think the song is by Victor Herbert; the harmony seems wrong, and I'm wondering who wrote it. It's also possible the melody is Herbert's and the harmonization by someone else, but I will continue to check the Herbert Findng Aid from the Library of Congress for the song.
We got the coolest solar yard lights which I have been loving. They are big globes with LEDs that change colors, all really deeply saturated and mimicking what the Aurora Borealis looks like. I love, love, love these lights.
Wednesday morning greetings! Our tornado sirens sounded just before 1am and again just past 1:30 and we had a doozy of a thunderstorm. High winds, but no trip to Oz. Speaking of trips, I'm off today to Cleveland after going with Mom to visit my aunt (her sister). Today is Aunt Jo's 82nd birthday.
And our guest star is Jason Graae.
And it turns that I did not get totally edited out of last night's "Eat St." episode which features the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck. You see my back in two shots, and you see my hand holding one of the cones! ;) So, just in case you missedmeit, here's the (US) broadcast schedule for Episode 102 (http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/eat-street/episode-two/index.html).
*They also feature the Brunch Box food cart in Portland, OR. -And their Redonkadonk Burger (http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/recipes/redonkadonk-burger-recipe/index.html).(http://img.foodnetwork.com/FOOD/2011/03/21/CCEAT102_Brunch-Box-Redonkadonk-Burger_s4x3_al.jpg)
-Yes, those are grilled cheese sandwiches acting as the "bun".
Unbelievable but true department: the new house came with a "home warranty," albeit one so expensive (due to the size of the home) that we agreed to pay half of the yearly fee ourselves. (Usually the seller pays it all). Anyhoo, made three service calls during the year and quickly found out they cover next to nothing. The third call was for a faulty light switch which I told them worked intermittently. They dispatched the electrician and he could not make it malfunction. He called AHS and their "service counselor" (that's a laugh and a half) told him NOT to make any repairs. Due to that, I opted not to renew coverage. Lo and behold, what should arrive yesterday but a BILL for the service call!!! I called their 800 number and got a snotty operator who hung up on me. So I looked up their corporate HQ and got through to the snotty assistant to the President who was quite full of attitude until I asked what state they were incorporated in and who their corporate counsel was. The snotty assistant claims the fee has been waived ;), but we shall see.

Actually, I believe DD Sherlock wrote: "No way was I going one more step before I was asked sweetly, so I dug in until she turned and looked to see what was happening. I gave her my 'Oh, really?' look. She smiled and said sweetly: 'Come on Sherlock, darling! Mommy needs a little backtracking.' So, I relented. After all, what's a DD to do?"

The lovely Kate Baldwin, who played Sharon in the revival of FINIAN'S RAINBOW, has just had a baby boy.
I know there are some "Over Here" fans in our midst. If you are one of them, go over to bluegobo.com. The new video posted today is of Donna McKechnie and Wayne Cilento doing "Charlie's Place." The dancing is great, but the cameraman doesn't seem to know how to photograph dancing. The cuts are weird, but the extended piece, with Patricia Birch's choreography, really kicks.

Does any DR know if that whole "Best of Broadway"/American Dance Machine special is available on DVD?I seem to remember Wayne Cilento performing "I Can Do That" from A Chorus Line, as well as the original trio of girlfriends performing "You Could Drive A Person Crazy" from Company.

I just received my first ever shipment from Godiva, an indulgence I gave into since eBates was having a 10% special. They ship everything in a cool little custom Godiva "cooler" replete with reusable freezer packs!
And, thank you to DRs Jane and George for the birthday wishes for my Aunt Jo. She was pleased to see us and to get some cupcakes.
Sherlock with his biological father, in the middle, and brother on the right.
Another congrats to JO aunt of DR GINNY.....
How did the new iron trial go?
Well, DR JRand, I do have a saguaro-shaped cookie cutter...
DR Jane, I'm sure Sherlock is the brightest dog, bath or no bath!
How did the new iron trial go?
Thanks, DR JRand!
Richard liked the new iron, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
Happy Birthday to Aunt Jo!
Ok, how do I link one of my facebook photos to this here site. I've never figured out how to do it

A friend of mine could use some mega vibes. She had surgery last year & it seemed sure they got all the cancer out that she didn't need chemo or radiation. Typically this is the scenario for the type of cancer she has. It has now returned and spread requiring a more complicated surgery. Now my friend has one more chemo prior to beginning radiation. :(

I can see what you did, but how did you figure that out?

I posted it with the link, then clicked modify here on this site. It will have the dimensions of the photo...like width 600 height 900. I just changed the numbers and clicked save. So for the one of Ricky's head, I cut the numbers in half

They are habit forming!
I have never heard of these before but now I must have one
;D I did it differently than DR Cilla. I don't know what Vixmom did to get the size right.
TCB how is your sister?
She is still waiting to see the specialist. Although it turns out that her regular doctor is dyslexic. She wrote that sister's white blood cells and platlets were elevated, wheh she actually meant below normal. She still has the elevated enzymes in her liver.
I deleted as many of the photos I posted as I could. I'm not going to post any more. I really didn't appreciate that George

DR Kevin do you have a pretty, rose or something else, shaped bundt pan?
That is one friggin' huge cat.
Today I joined "Dramarists Guild Of America".
Exciting isn't it? :-)

I have rewritten two scenes and I am going to start sending them out to theaters again.
I have a tube pan. Does that count?DR Kevin do you have a pretty, rose or something else, shaped bundt pan?
I have a regular, Cathedral and Rose Bundt pans.
Middling reviews for "Sister Act" and not pretty notices for "Seance on a Wet Afternoon." Still, I bet "Sister Act" will be a hit. the complaints about it are similar to those lodged against the movie, which the public loved.

Mike B how is your nephew?
I have decided I just don't have time to make the dessert I wanted to for Sunday, because it takes three days. Now I have to come up with something less complicated. But just as good. Any suggestions? I bought a few cheeses in case I truly run out of time.

Cilla, I am very sorry that my fooling around with your pictures has upset you. That was not my intent. I was just excited to learn about how to resize photos when posting them without having to resize the actual file.
Again, I'm very sorry. :'(
Hopefully it's not under that huge friggin' cat.
So very sad about the photojournalists who died today in Libya.
I was going to make something called a domino cake. On day one, you make a pair of raspberry jelly rolls and freeze them.
Second day, you make a panna cotta like cream filling with about 16 egg yolks and more gelatin than you can imagine. Then you slice the jelly roll real thin, line the slices along the bottom and sides of a 10-inch pan. Fill with the cream filling. Then let it set over night.
Day three you finish off the top with more jelly roll slices and invert the cake onto a serving platter. Top with an apricot glaze and serve with raspberry sauce.
I just have two quarts of heavy cream. And, you know, that could be a dessert in and unto itself. Maybe with some Kahlua or some frangelico added for good measure.I was going to make something called a domino cake. On day one, you make a pair of raspberry jelly rolls and freeze them.

Oh! That one! Well... If you still have the makings for a Domino Cake, you could always just make a nicely layered trifle.
The Hungarian Shortbread sounds good. I'll do an investigation. For the cheeses, i always put out the same: nuts, dark chocolate bits, honey, dried fruit. Chutney sounds like a good addition, though. I think I have a couple of jars.
By the way, you're still invited to Easter dinner.

If you have enough chocolate on hand, you could always make a batch of truffles. Or just set out dessert spoons with ganache on them.
Crazy question. It's the Beat Generation, but do you capitalize "Beat"? You don't capitalize beatnik.
ASK BK
When considering albums from UA/MGM did you consider A Funny THing Happened On the Way To Th Forum? If you did was the rewritten FREE part of the masters? Was there any other Sondheim score other than The Chase there too?
My question for MR BK - did you ever write a script on assignment or spec for an ongoing television series?
And if you could have been a regular member of the writing staff of a classic television show, which show would it have been?
