And the word of the day is: ASPERSION!
Question of the day:
Does anyone still wear an Easter Bonnet?
I shall have to investigate the Norman Lloyd Bio.
Is it still Easter?
I have a question for anyone.
What do you consider the best film version of TALE OF TWO CITIES?

You Never Mentioned the Quality of the Transfer?
Good morning, all! I slept late. After turning off the tv, I read a bit more of Norman Lloyd's biography, It's quite good so far, although I think his comments on THE GOLDEN APPLE (he drected the 1954 Phoenix Theatre production) may prove he was the wrong man for the job. His early chapters on working with Eva LeGallienne, John Houseman, the Mercury Thesatre, etc. are qite wonderful.
Now to be controversial: I really hate Easter, which I know is the Big Day in my religion's calendar. I find it a theological nightmare whose logic makrs no sense, and one more example of the human race's ability to invent grisly and horrible deaths for its enemies. I can appreciate a good miracle like rising from the dead, but by the time it happens to Jesus, Lazarus got there first, and I cannot understand logically how this is supposed to help me in the long run. I, of course, blame the Catholic Church for imposing a lot of hocus pocus on the situation around 800 years ago.
In my family, Easter was also a day of hypocricy: it was the One Day a year everyone in my family - that is, my entire Mother's family, all seven siblings, spouses, and their children - went to church, whether they needed to confront organized religion or not. My brothers and I all got a new yearly suit, and there was a huge family dinner, the best part of the day. The second best part of the holiday was coloring Easter eggs, several dozen hardboiled eggs, the night before. This meant a week of too many eggs at breakfast, lunch and dinner followed by sulphurous gas attacks. Today, I will have dinner with one of my nuclear family, my good friend Bruce Pomahac. I do miss the family gatherings. I miss many of my dead uncles, aunts, and cousins, not to mention my maternal grandmother.
My biggest disappointment of THE FANTASTICKS is that we did not get a good soundtrack recording of the score with Jonathan's beautiful orchestrations. I was up for the job, and I remember submitting a demo cassette of bits of the 110 IN THE SHADE songs and, I think, some of COLETTE COLLAGE.. While I would have loved to have done the movie, I must admit that I had a hard time hearing any sounds but the wonderful Off-Broadway piano and harp, and I know they got the right person for the job.
More coffee.
I decided to investigate further. So i asked my older niece exactly what had happened. She said that her sister and seen the eggs in the closet. So she got off the bed and went to get them. Then my older niece had to lift the younger one back on the bed.
I asked her why they didn't eat any of the chocolates and she replied, "cause we're not allowed to eat chocolates without permission!"
I guess she didn't realize that they weren't allowed to sneak in their parents closet and dismantle all the easter stuff!
(my sis had to tell her that the easter bunny had dropped all the stuff off early).
Our 8:00 show went well with a very good audience and good performances.
The midnight show was interestingly different.
I'll be heading back to Manhattan sometime today.
We had a nice, relaxing time away from the city. It rained most of yesterday but it's sunny right now.
In between services. Arrived early this morning to a phone call from the minister's wife informing me that the minister's father died early this morning. He had been in for hip replacement surgery last Wednesday but had made it through that all right. That said, he had a bad heart and I believe he was in his late 80s. So the minister is not here today and we are punting on Easter.

DR JANE - my favorite version is the 1958 Dirk Bogarde film.
I hope he doesn't make me sound like an idiot or jerk, but I was pretty honest and forthright about my opinions.

Well, you don't think I was watching it for my health, do you? :) I shan't be coy - I'm pulling the tapes - if it's all on twenty-four track needing a mix, I won't go near it. However, if they have a mixdown to four tracks, which they may have done for the film's actual mix, then I will make it happen.

Just spent a lot of time talking to an online columnist named Jeffrey Wells. Robert Harris suggested he call me to talk about 70mm films and restoration and stuff. I hope he doesn't make me sound like an idiot or jerk, but I was pretty honest and forthright about my opinions.
I wonder who our 1 Guest might be? Hmmmmmmm!
And what a brunch it was!
Deviled Eggs topped with Fried Oysters and Fried Shrimp (3 of each)
Oysters Shooters -And they were quite strong today!
Breakfast Tacos
Hash Browns
Oyster Po' Boy
"Surfer's" Sangria
Plus a sneak-peek of Ditch Plains' new Frozen Mojito.
Needless to say, as we walked back across the park after brunch, I was very tempted to sit down on a bench and take a nap in the sun. -Yes, the sun came out today! :)

Boy, I need to start rambling here.
Stop Me!
Between the two of us, el, we might get to Page Five.
I watched JEWS AND BASEBALL last night and really loved it
My sister and I have been looking at Family Tree Maker on her computer. She has done phenomenal amounts of genealogy research on our family.
Just got home a littlw while ago from a trip to my parents' house for Easter dinner. It was nice to see the family. Glad I didn't go up for the weekend. Everyone got along great. Had a nice time and we all left. Nice.

Isn't it wonderful?
No, I really do wonder who our 1 Guest might be?
My church's music today was charming. Very charming.
Re: The Fantasticks
Was the tv version from the 60's a full version of the show? I've never see it, but I know it was done.
Well, you see, Elmore, we seem to believe that to practice indicates that we would be putting on a show. Therefore, we don't practice. But everyone loves it because we are sincere and it is charming because of its lack of perfection.
Surprisingly I did not post that day. I wonder why.
this morning we went to a very uplifting Easter service - I was one of the communion assistants -
as Pastor said - we pulled out all the stops the string choir played a preamble followed by the bell choir - we (Pastor, the assisting minister and the four of communion assistants) processed into the church behind the acolyte holding high the cross , two of us holding candles on torches, the assisting minister holding the big Altar Bible opened to the Resurrection Gospel, one of the communion assistants holding the opened Lectionary, one of the communion assistants holding the Pascal candle and finally Pastor while the full adult choir all 53 of them and the congregation sang http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzy7jFNUc3w&feature=related
Before the start of the Seattle Mariners game today, they introduced one of our Canadain players to the joys of Peeps. His reaction was that they were definately an American invention.
Just finished watching the deleted scene selection from The Fantasticks - it makes me want to go find my VHS and watch it the way Mr. Ritchie made it, because all the cuts (especially the numbers that were completely left out and the numbers that were truncated) lessen the film. I think these sixteen years later, Mr. Ritchie did a fine job, and Mr. Jones and Mr. Schmidt gave him what he wanted.
LOL....I keep watching the GYP WATSON clip that DR JOHN G posted yesterday.....so much fun. Now I will have to get out the CD and play it.It does that to a person. The choreography just keeps getting better and better. And I love that line about "the Christmas music!"
Just been listening to music all day.Brighter vibes.
Feel sort of blue.
Maybe it's the weather.
:)
