I'm awake at 1:20 in the morning as I need to fall out of love.

My second childhood, bad boy syndrome, affair is about to be over.

Maybe it was fun, but now it just hurts.

Speaking of facebook, boy did I make a mistake by searching for a name.

But that's what I get for being snoopy.

Sometimes I just do not learn.

But then I do live at the beach, and tomorrow the sun will be out, and I will take a walk, and feel better.

This stupid mistake will soon pass. :)

I was going to have a ME day, but the president of the Heritage Preservation Society asked me to write the story about yesterday's dedication ceremony - so I suppose I will.

If I get it to the Banner-Graphic this morning, it may make tomorrow's edition.

Good morning, all! It's raining in Manhattan, and around 11:15 am, I have to head for 54th Street with a complete set of Full Scores for EILEEN, my vocal score, and another meting with conductor and producer. Things got a little testy at yesterday's meeting over a comedy duet for the principals that I want to have a humorous edge on the recording. since the humor in the operetta is primarily visual, I'd like to add a couple of short lines of during the slet moments to clarify things. The producer, who kept insisting the number was a romantic duet kept insisting it was not a funny number but a beautiful balad. No matter how much I tried to explain that it was a subtle, humorous-chuckle number, not a fall-down-LOL moment, he refused to get it. When he uttered the "I'm the money so what I say goes," I blew up. At one point he asked me why I was forbidding changes in the vocal parts (he wants more operatic high notes) and yet I was adding dialogie, I tried to explain that the number needed clarfication for a listener and I was only trying to accomplish in sound what an audience would see onstage. Oy!

So, Round Two today, I suppose. Hopefully, it will be a pleasant meeting.

I've also got prep work on the Appalachian Carols which will occupt much of my week as well.

DR vixmom, good news about the wonderful vixter! Where is she going to school?

BK, I'm happy to hear the good news about our Jason Graae. I can't wait for the recording.

Good moring from Memphis!  Still have a while before I have to go to the airport.  This morning I got a breakfast suggestion from a guy in the elevator, so I walked down to the Blue Plate Cafe and had a really good breakfast.  bacon, eggs, bacon and biscuits and gravy.

Okay, I've played on the computer long enough. I've done some Facebook updates, wished Jason Graae a happy birthday today, read "AllThatChat," and listened to Gounod's Mass for St Cecilia and a Bach cantata. I'm exhausted.

This afternoon is my niece's 2nd birthday party. She had a fever yesterday afternoon again. Poor kid. My sis had brought her over since we were both sick. At around 12:45pm she rolled onto my bed and her back felt so hot. So I had to take her temperature and give her some medicine. Then when she woke up from her nap she was screaming hysterically for my sister. And so she had to come back to get her. Poor kid. Hopefully she will be okay for her party.

I did not feel too well yesterday. Yesterday night at 9:45pm i had another fever too. But i had been sleeping from 6:15pm till 9:15pm. But then of course i couldn't fall asleep till 1am.

I don't feel great today. But much better than yesterday. I slept sitting up. So my throat did not hurt this morning. And i am not as fatigued. ANd no fever.

I had to spend 2 hours preparing food for the party (i wore gloves). Now i'm going to try to rest.

Here's another Facebook frustration (and I know what dear reader Sam means - someone we both know showed up on my "friends you might know" list - I don't know why or how that works - and I made the mistake of clicking on it and wanted to vomit on the ground) - when doing an event, if you have a group, which I do for the Gardenia shows, there's always been a "select all" button - either they've moved it and I can't find it, because I had to select by hand which is very time consuming and a pain in the ASS.  If anyone knows where the select all button has gone, please let me know.

We've had the new computer since mid-April. We just moved it into the bedroom where the old one was located. Anthony wanted to finish up some projects on the old 'puter plus he was on Long Island for a while. The stars converged today and we made the move. Everything works except my laser printer. I never thought about the old connection through a parallel port. There is no parallel port on the new computer. I have to go to Staples or Best Buy and purchase a USB cord to connect the printer. Ugh!

But at least we have our dining room table back. We will be eating dinner shortly and it won't be on TV trays.

Wasn't up for seeing a play today - I came close - dressed, showered, got ready, but in the end I just couldn't get up the energy.  I really needed the day today.  I haven't done anything but eat and do a tiny bit of work for an upcoming project - hopefully I can do a rough pass of the liner notes at some point, as I'd love to get that out of the way.

Not much worse than she looked in 1970, I suspect.
If she were alive in the 1970s and not in the 1980s, I would suspect there would be a great difference.

If I get it to the Banner-Graphic this morning, it may make tomorrow's edition.

A woman that I work with had the exact same problem...she got a new computer and it didn't have the correct port for her old printer, which was otherwise a perfectly good printer.  She took it to where she bought the computer and they said that they could put in a new port, but for them to do it would probably cost a much as just buying a new USB printer.  She bought a new printer and is going to donate her old printer to Goodwill.

I woke up early and felt pretty good. I spent 2 hours prepping food for the party and still felt good.

I felt good at the beginning of the party. But then after a couple of hours i noticed that i was very fatigued and starting not too feel too great. But i did make it till 8pm.

I"m not sure if my niece liked her party. She spent most of it in the basement. She really doesn't like crowds of people. So i think it was overwhelming.

At least it did not rain. But it was very overcast and cool.

She seemed to like her Dora cake.

That's not unusual, especially if you spent most of the part prepping the food, serving the food and then cleaning up after everyone ate. You probably did not eat as much as you think or though you would.

And being hungry when you're sick is a good thing. Just means your body needs good stuff in it to get the bad stuff out of it.

In other news...

I ended up going to my friend's orchestra concert. It was a good concert, with some (surprisingly) good playing by what is essentially a pick-up orchestra. A Telemann Trumpet Concert, Handel's "Water Music" and Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. -All truly beautifully played and intelligently conducted/interpreted.

Alas...

I was sitting in the fifth row of the balcony. There was a family of four sitting in the front row of the balcony. The youngest member of their family - a college-age "girl" - was reading her Blackberry all throughout the first selection. After the number, I went up to her, and asked her to either turn it off or at least make an effort to hide the glare. "You're being quite disrespectful of my friends on stage who are playing right now." -Oh... I'm sorry...

Well...

The Handel started, and she still had her Blackberry on. I then went up to her, and placed a copy of the program on top of her Blackberry's screen. She just looked at me, made the "crazy" sign to her parents, and continued to read her email and text her friends. She did, however, stop for a bit.

Well...

At intermission, I thanked her for turning off her Blackberry. -Well, I didn't do it for you. I did it because I fell asleep..

"Well, if you don't want to be here, then just go home.'

Then her parents spoke up. She can anything she wants. Leave her alone.

"Do you know anyone on stage right now?" -Yes, we do.. "Well, do you want to tell them that you spent the whole first half of the concert either texting away or falling asleep." Leave us alone. If you don't want to see her phone, just move your seat. "She obviously doesn't want to be here, so why make her stay?"

That's when their son - the girl's brother(!) - came up to the balcony to say, Hi. He was the second trumpet player. They made their chit-chat. I just sat back in my seat...

The second half starts up. The bitch takes out her phone again. However, I did notice that she put it under her coat this time to hide the glare. I also noticed - like I did in the first half - that her parents were looking at her each time she pulled her phone out. It was even annoying them... and they made no effort to stop her.

Of course, as soon at the final downbeat of the Beethoven sounded, she bolted.

-I really should have said Hi to the trumpet player. ;)

Then after the concert, I walked down to the East Village for a cortado at Abraço, plus a snack of "burnt end and potatoes" at Porchetta. Then it was off to Elmhurst to meet up with some friends for a Thai dinner/feast at Chao Thai. Then it was off to Eddie's Sweet Shop for Hot Fudge Sundaes, Banana Splits and Milkshakes.

A truly full culinary evening.

The most typical and disgusting part of the post above is the parents saying "She can do anything she wants."  And there you have everything that is wrong with today's parents and why the kids of such parents are such entitled JERKS.  If I was her parent I would simply ask her to shut it off - if she didn't, she would no longer have the Blackberry.  But my child wouldn't do something like that because that's not how she would be raised.  It's a good thing I wasn't there.

Of course, what I truly wanted to do was to sit right next the mother, turn up the brightness on my iPhone and just hold it in her face the whole second half.

But, seriously, I got so upset that I was shaking. Deliberate rudeness is the one thing that truly gets me going. She may have called me "crazy", but at least I wasn't an inconsiderate c***.

I believe you just select "Share", and it will automatically "Share" it with everyone in the group. I think. ???
