Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fried, and now it is time for you to post until the fried cows come home.

And the word of the day is: NIDIFY!

Last night, I went to Cannibal! director Pug's house for a reading of "The Weir." It's a show that TAO is going to do next season. It was quite good...even just being read.
-
Good Morning to all. I woke up around 5:30am
It is bright out and it through me off.
I thought it was around 7:00am.
I had forgotten the further north one gets the earlier it gets brighter,
At least I'm not that far north where its bright 24hrs a day!
-
And I'm head back to the state of Florida after a too brief stay in Montreal.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Watched the first episode of Downton Abbey last night.
Loved it.
-
It looks like it may rain today. It's supposed to be uncomfortably warm.
-
Good morning, all.
-
What's happening in Florida, Michael S?
-
Good morning, all! I have a lot of Victor Herbert work today, so I'll occasionally be stopping by during the day to check on everyone! the copyists have been working quite hard and I have to catch up, because I'm the holdup on the invoice being turned in to pay them. About 2/3 of the score gas now been copied, so I'm happy to report that we are way ahead of schedule.
Ages ago now, it seems, when vixmom and The Vixter went to see The Importance of Being Earnest, I wasn't tha enthusiastic about seeing it; I'm not a huge fan of the Roundabout, which seems to be the Bermuda Triangle for losing old musicals in revival, and I had no high expectations for the Wilde comedy. I was terribly wrong, and the production was a delight, with a beautiful design and a wonderful cast.
More coffee, and to work!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm listening to Liane Hansen's final show as host of NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday. I actually remember listening to her first show, some of her landmark shows, and the announcement of her retirement last year. I will truly miss her voice as part of my Sunday morning routine.
-
And now...
I need to get ready for brunch.
Laters...
-
BK,
BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK is my favorite Spencer Tracy movie.
-
Perhaps it won't rain today. The sun has come out. It will be hot but perhaps just a shower and not rain.
-
It's Sunday and the sun is in the sky, I'm sure one doesn't have to do with the other. Here's hoping for a sunny day.
-
What's happening in Florida, Michael S?
Don't know yet. I will let you when i get back. :-)
-
At the airport waiting for my flight. Originally scheduled to leave at 12:15. Then changes to 1:30. The 2:00. Then 1:30. Then 1:45 and then got three calls that the flight had been changed to 1:45. Oh well
-
And I upgraded from economy to business class for a modest fee

Anyone know Cassie (I think it's her) (A Chorus Line) what her exact dialogue that goes something. "I don't want to be teaching what I should be doing myself" I believe it come just before The Music and The Mirror

Thanks for the continued vibes. Today is one week since the tornado. I finally heard from my sister today via email. It was good to hear from her. It's been really tough on her and she's having nightmares about the things they saw when they went to get Joe. It wasn't pretty.
-
I just got off the phone with DR MBarnum. He is looking forward to meeting Sherlock in person & hiking with us *just a short one). Then we are going out for lunch. I hope it doesn't rain, as it is i'm very disappointed we can't eat outside where sherlock can join us.
-
Watched the first episode of Downton Abbey last night.
Loved it.
It just gets better :) We have watched 5 episodes so far.
-
Sounds like a fun day with MBarnum
-
Cilla vibes to your sister, the rest of the family & to Joe!!!

I just don't have any energy today, so I'm going to sit here like so much fish, make lunch and if I find some energy I'll do something, if I don't I won't. I am going to watch the service from Joplin at 2:00 central time.

Sounds like a fun day with MBarnum
i'm looking forward to it.

I had to come down to Toyland to use the scanner and now I will head myself back home for a lot of edits! There's a street fair on Broadway between 79th and 86th so I may later wander out for a bit and check it out.
I've been reading Congreve's THE WAY OF THE WORLD, which is funny, but - familiar as I am with 17th and 18th Century comedy dialogue - I'm still a bit lost in this play's machinations and I wish I were a little more familiar with the sexual innuendoes in the text.
Mrs Fainall is married to Mr Fainall, the villain, and the marriage had been arranged when, during her affair with Mirabell, she thought she might be pregnant
Fainall is married unhappily to Mrs Fainall, and in a heavy affair with Mrs Marwood; together he and Marwood are plotting the downfall of Mirabell and his love for Mrs Millamant
Marwood hates Mirabell because he rejected her advances
Mrs Fainall is still on friendly terms with Mirabell and helping him in his attempts to marry Millamant, whose fortune - until she marries - is under control of her old aunt, Lady Wishfort
Millamant and Mrs Fainall are cousins; Millamant is neice to, and Fainall daughter of, Lady Wishfort, who hates Mirabell because he once pretended to love her and got the horny old lady's knickers in a twist
Lady Wishfort is trying to marry her niece Millamant to her idiot nephew Sir Wilfull Witwould so she can control Millamant's fortune
Mirabell and Millamant are in a plot with Foible, Lady Wishfort's maid, and Foible's husband Waitwell, Mirabell's servant, to have Waitwell impersonate Mirabell's wealthy uncle Sir Rowland, who claims to be in love with Lady Wishfort, so they can blackmail her into giving Millamant permission (and the fortune she controls) to marry Mirabell. Fainall and Marwood have learnedof this plot and are determined todestroy Mirabell and Millamant.
That's the essential plot. I am still uncertain, in this play where everyone's having sex with someone else and often using it as a power play or wishing to have sex, exactly what is going on with the two leading characters, Are they or aren't they doing the dread deed? I'm sure it was clear to the original audience, butthere are too many ambiguous word usages, like "friend," which can mean as well a sexual partner, keep, protector. There's great rhythm to the language but there sure are a helluva lot of archaic words!
-
As you can see from the plot to THE WAY OF THE WORLD that sexual politics in the late seventeenth century haven't changed much since then. It all sounds like a typical soap opera plot from 2011.
-
Okay. I'm heading back uptown!
-
Spencer and Frances did a nice Lux Radio Theatre together. Spencer was supposed to be her co-star in "The Toast of New York," (at that point called "The Robber Barons"), but it ended up being Edward Arnold.
-
I'm having fruit and yogurt for lunch. It's too hot for oatmeal (my usual lunch on a Sunday because we have scrambled egg whites, a scone and jam and fruit, like a pear or strawberries for breakfast).
We will watch more Downton later this afternoon. We will be out for a while with errands, etc.

Never heard of the show. What's it about?
It just gets better :) We have watched 5 episodes so far.

i finally found a sweater that i can wear over my splint as the sleeves have a nice wide flare to them. i doubt my rain coat will fit now-will have to figure something out.

It is Sunday. But not a day of rest.

It is Sunday. But not a day of rest.
Ditto.

Thanks to all for the vibes for Ernie - his condition remains the same...... I hesitate to call again today. Linda said that she has my number in her telephone, so I shall await a word from her....
-
I also loved BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK.....Mr John Ericson and Miss Anne Francis are so very nice to look at.
Miss Francis told the story on a TCM filler, that Mr Tracy was a bit rough on her during some of their scenes - so that when she was driving him in the jeep - and he could only hold on with one arm.....she drove as fast and she could and hit every bump she could find....after which Tracy wasn't quite as cold to her.
-
Internet has been down since last night.....but at last it is up!
-
I have returned from Toyland and I'm ready for a nap.
-
And I have returned from brunch... Ended up taking an impromptu cat-nap... And now I'm going to head back out into the heat and humidity (ugh!) to run a few errands.

Travel vibes for DR MICHAEL S
Fun vibes for DR JANE and DR MBARNUM --- hopefully there will be Sherlock photos.

Found this today. Joes house is between the second and third EF5 marking on the map. So, he really did live through the EF5 portion of the storm. Man oh man.
-
Hello, everyone.
I hope BK has lost his Roscoe's love--at least momentarily--as we are NOT going to Roscoe's today.
-
Continued vibes to all in need.
-
Claude Izner book has been ordered. Thanks for mentioning it, Ginny!
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! We came back from Lima posthaste, in order to see as much of the Indianapolis 500 as possible. While not an auto racing fan overall, my Indianapolis roots made me a 500 fan.
-
Back from my two morning meetings. The first was very informative and productive and has to do with this little personal project I'm working on, and the second was with Barbara Deutsch - I'm helping her with her book, her first - Grant is designing it (my recommendation) and everything is being sent to him tomorrow.

PAge 2????

Why on earth are we still on page 2?
-
Much better
-
Still, page 3?? Why are we still on page 3?
-
You'd think it 's a holiday or something
-
BK - The Golden Lamb is still there. We live about 15 miles from there and I was just there for lunch last month. Next time, I'll order the fried chicken!
-
I like fried chicken, especially from the Gingham Inn in Spirit Lake Ia
-
Trying to decide what to have for dinner. I finished off the leftover calico beans. There really weren't many left. I guess when you put a pound of bacon and a cup of brown sugar in anything it will taste really good.
-
I'm thinking about going to a movie tonight.
-
Off to have fajitas with friends. It's not been the lazy day of reading i would like. Oh well.
-
Finally a sunny day. :)
-
It is Sunday. But not a day of rest.
Ditto.
For me, too... I've got a lot of laundry to do.

But first, I need to take a shower (finally) and then get dressed...and then do laundry.
:)

Sounds like a fun day with MBarnum
IT WAS!!! :)
-
Great!!!

Photos? Stories?
-
Fun vibes for DR JANE and DR MBARNUM --- hopefully there will be Sherlock photos.
Thank you. MBarnum took photos of Sherlock munching on a big stick. i do't how well they came out as sherlock keep utrning away from the camera. Photos were also taken for DR Laura. We forgot to take a photo of us at lunch. I had meant to do so especially since we ate at the hotel MBarnum used to work at.
Our walk was on the short side as it was raining lightly. Just as we were leaving the sun came out. After lunch Keith retrieved sherlock from the car & we went looking for the apartment M used to live in. Not knowing how far away it was we turned back. He did find it later driving around in his car & left us a message a few minutes before we returned home.
-
Think I'll go for a drive. I haven't been out of the house all day.
-
Hmmm, I just had a nice long nap...
Rob and Mary Linda just left for a movie and Richard and I will stay home and watch the national Memorial Day concert from Washington, DC.
-
Cilla have you seen this touching story of a Joplin high school student?

Just back from a lovely lunch and chat with BK--and yet-another birthday dessert.
I think it may be time for a nap.
-
Boy, BK got home quickly.
-
Back from a lovelier than lovely birthday luncheon with dear reader Jeanne. We went to some French jernt she's fond of - it was good. However, when did it come to pass that the entire block south of this restaurant, which is two blocks south of Wilshire on Westwood, become Little Persia. It's literally an entire block of nothing but Persian shops and businesses. I had no idea Westwood had been Persianized but I guess it has.

BK, The Golden Lamb isn't a place we go to frequently, but I'll keep the fried chicken in mind. We actually picked up Famous Recipe chicken on our way home today in order to have a traditional Indy 500 lunch. I, of course, remove the skin and eat only white meat.

i'm trying to picture it.

We finally gave in and turned on the air conditioning. Hated to close the windows, but 90 degrees with 52% humidity is pretty uncomfortable.
-
I was enjoying wearing a warm sweater but alas i didn't enjoy the extra pressure on my wrist. I've changed into my recent "uniform". On the upside i'm doing a bit more each day. Today I tied my shoelaces for our hike.
We had the delicious chocolate cake I have talked about & I had a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side in a tall sundae glass. since the ice cream was a bit on the hard side Keith had to hold the glass steady while i used my spoon to get little scoops out. ;D
-
Since my wrist is improving, & I didn't have to use the computer much today, i just ordered "Murder At the Masquers" :)
-
funny to see my post that i'm cold followed by ginny needing the air conditioner on. i admit i would rather it nippy than hot while wearing a splint i can't remove.

There's a special on CBS news at the moment about the military, and I just saw the most moving interview with Sal Giunta who was awarded the Medal of Honor. Heartbreaking.

Way too much bread.

before my fall i went on a hike in jacksonville & saw........

I can't get over chicken and waffles served together. It sounds so odd every time i hear it!
DR Jennifer - A waffle is basically a piece of bread. Fried chicken and a piece of bread is not "odd". -I actually like fried chicken and pancakes. -And since pancakes and waffles can be made from the same batter, well...
Is "fried chicken and biscuits" odd to you too?

Can anyone explain to me how to tag a FB friend with a photo?
When you bring up the photo, there will be an option to tag the photo under the photo on the left side. Once you select that, you just click on a "face", then a menu will pop up allowing you to type in and select a name. Click again to tag.

jose i called it bread. waffles are made with flower, etc & fried chicken is made with bread crumsbs. i repeat, too much bread ;)

I still want to learn how to do this. if he complains i'll delete it. i clicked on download a photo and didn't find any other options besides "friend's only" or comment. do i need to do it as a photo album instead of simply up loading a photo?

I'll tell you this - every other board I visit has almost no posts today - we are the berries here, baby.

Page 5? Why are we on Page 5? It is Memorial Day Weekend. Does that not include your HHW site?

DR Jose, here's their website. You'd love the food.
http://www.goldenlamb.com/
I've decided that Mirabell and Millamant are not yet sexually involved, but their scene laying out the conditions of marriage is absolutely brilliant. After he leaves, she has a wonderful line to Mrs Fainall along the lines of "if this marriage doesn't happen. I shall be lost - for I find I love him violently."
-

"Download"? or did you mean "Upload"? Is the pic already on Facebook? Or is just on your computer? If it's on your computer:
-Go to Craig's Facebook Page.
-Under the row of pictures there is a Share option. Click on Photo.
-Click on "Upload a Photo from your drive".
-Follow the prompts to select and upload the photo.
-Once that is done, it will be posted on Craig's Facebook Wall. You can tag him in it, or he can do it himself.
He may have his Privacy and Share settings set to "Friends of Friends", and if that's that the case, then basically anything on his Wall will be "automatically" Shared.
If you're just trying to get the picture to him: email it. ;)

If you're just trying to get the picture to him: email it. ;)
it is not on FB. i want to put it there. other people have tagged him so i don't think it is a privavy issue.
i meant upload.
so i can't tag it from my page? i have to post it on his page & then tag him putting it there twice?
-
I still want to learn how to do this. if he complains i'll delete it. i clicked on download a photo and didn't find any other options besides "friend's only" or comment. do i need to do it as a photo album instead of simply up loading a photo?
"Download"? or did you mean "Upload"? Is the pic already on Facebook? Or is just on your computer? If it's on your computer:
-Go to Craig's Facebook Page.
-Under the row of pictures there is a Share option. Click on Photo.
-Click on "Upload a Photo from your drive".
-Follow the prompts to select and upload the photo.
-Once that is done, it will be posted on Craig's Facebook Wall. You can tag him in it, or he can do it himself.

You can do either.
If you upload it to his page, then tag it, it will only be on his page.
If you upload it to your page, and then tag it, it will show up on your page AND Craig will also get a notification on his page that you tagged him a photo - which then will show up in his "Pics of You" and on his page.

DR Jane - I guess the question I should be asking is: Do you NOT want the picture on your Facebook Wall?
-
When DR MBarnum worked there i believe it was called the Mark Anthony Hotel. When it first opened in 1925, as the Lithia Springs Hotel, it was the tallest building between San Francisco & Portland.

At this point whichever way is the simplest ;D

DR Jose thank you very much. it is time to say 'night. i saved all your comments & will attempt this tomorrow.

We are here!

Dinner was fun. Steve has just eben given the all-clear from his oncologist, so dinner was a good celebration. He still gets a tinny taste with some meat fat, especially bacon, but he's doing well. He cooked an amazing meal, fajitas and pinto beans with a key lime-mango pie for dessert, and his wife, Sandy, had to be the taste-tester for everything. She did a good job.
-
I'm about to call it a night. Richard's going to participate, in the honor guard, in tomorrow's parade and other ceremonies. I've had 3 days in a row of having to be up and out in the morning and I really need a morning of not doing that. He agrees that I have no business standing out in the hot sun.
See y'all tomorrow - 'night!

Cilla have you seen this touching story of a Joplin high school student?

Thanks for sharing that, I hadn't seen it

BK - The Golden Lamb is still there. We live about 15 miles from there and I was just there for lunch last month. Next time, I'll order the fried chicken!
Do they serve lamb at The Golden Lamb? -Or just fried chicken? ;)
That menu is incredible.
-
jose i called it bread. waffles are made with flower, etc & fried chicken is made with bread crumsbs. i repeat, too much bread ;)
Waffles from Flowers....what a sweet idea...
-
Back in Florida.
Work tomorrow.

Hmmm... Now I'm imagining a baguette made with daisies, geraniums and hydrangeas. ;)
Beat me to it...

LOL I read this as "I shall shop for now"

Here's my answer to your question what's happening in Florida.
Not sure what's happening but Gay Day at Disney has already started and not just in Orlando. It has become a money making proposition instead of a day of gay pride. It's getting ludicrous.
Other than that June 1 is the start of hurricane season.
If you have some free time come down for a visit.

I'm getting jittery about the weather between now and Tuesday. Severe thunderstorms tonight and possible tornadoes tomorrow night. I actually went to my office, unplugged the computers and brought home the network Backup drive. I don't usually do that much, but it makes me feel better, so I did it
-
I have a friend who is an minister and is filling in for a minister in northern Indiana who is in the hospital. He said one of his little churches was discussing how they can help Joplin without sending money to some unknown group. He mentioned Joe. So, i gave him some more details....how Joe crawled from house to house turning off the gas...and other little things. I'm excited about all the great responses, but a little afraid that getting the mail this week may be a bit overwhelming. Luckily I have a light week, so if I have a lot to do to record and get the checks ready to send to Joe it will be ok
-
Last year we had a little tornado on Paul's birthday....his birthday is tomorrow, lol
-
The weatherman just said...."We have a significant severe threat of storms, we could have large hail, damaging winds and some tornadoes....I'm not trying to scare you, so still enjoy your Memorial Day, but the threat is there"
-
LOL, Now he said....if we can only escape the possibility of severe storms, the week should be nice
-
But I DON'T want to scare you
-
Happy Belated Birthday
to DR ArnoldMBrockman
Thank You For Your Greeting

LOL, Now he said....if we can only escape the possibility of severe storms, the week should be nice
And IF my bubbe had wheels, she'd be a bus

Watching Ken Burns' "Jazz" series. Amazing archival footage, fine interviews, the music could not be better. Why am I not liking it more? Maybe the lengthy stories of the artists' addictions and other tragedies, the racism, the stupidity of so much behind such wonderful music.
-
Night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing and may start writing liner notes shortly.
-
I'm watching a Region 2, PAL DVD from England called Christopher and His Kind (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003Y3B0TK), about Christopher Isherwood and his time in Berlin, which inspired the musical Cabaret.
-
It stars the newest Doctor Who, Matt Smith, and he's very good in this. He must've made this just before he became the new Doctor.
-
If this is an accurate portrayal of his life, you can see how parts of it became Cabaret.
-
I was going to watch "The Boy Friend" next, but it won't play in my region code-free DVD player. :P
-
It does play in my Blu-ray player, though, so I'm watching it on that.
-
And since we're so close...
