Annoyingly I have lost my internet connection.  This happened a few months ago when I lost it for two days and my ISP and the phone company said there was nothing wrong their end. Hope I get it back soon.

Not only did I immediately know what "LSMFT" meant, I had an immediate image pop up of Dorothy Collins in front of the cigarette brand's "logo" on a popular music show of the early 1950s...a logo out of which she and Snooky Lansen and Giselle McKenzie and Russell Arms used to appear weekly.  And at Christmas, a wreath encircled the logo.

This morning is the two-hour dental appointment.  Having two crowns (upper and lower back teeth on the left side) replaced.   Shouldn't be too bad, I don't reckon.   The right side of my face, however, remains a bit sore from the sinus lift of two weeks ago.  My dental surgeon pronounced that healing was moving forward nicely.  Healthy pink gums.  But...it will be five months before talk can begin about implants.

Aaaaaargh.  For the second time this damned netbook has shut down to install a Windows update without alerting me first.  I have for the second time lost tons of work on a review since Word doesn't "react" to these shutdowns normally, saving items as recoverable files.  I've gone into Windows Update and told the frigging thing to stop doing this without my approval.  We'll see if it listens.  :)

Thanks for the vibes - the blood test went fine.  Now we wait for the late-afternoon phone call from the doctor's office with the results.

The grocery shopping didn't go so well - I was invisible at the deli counter and had to speak up or would still be standing there, the self-checkout shortchanged me $2.45 and I had to see the cashier, and the crate that I keep in the back of my car must have stayed in Cincinnati when Rob borrowed the Vibe over the weekend.

I received my copy of BLACK ZOO in the mail today......a Herman Cohen production starring Mr Michael Gough and Mr Rod Lauren, I shall watch it later today.

I have also ordered a book by Mr Tom Lisanti titled DUELING HARLOWS about the brouhaha that occurred in 1965 when producer Joseph E Levine decided to produce Harlow starring Carroll Baker and producer Bill Sargent decided to produce Harlow starring Carol Lynley......included are some new interviews with Lynley (not from Baker) and a few others involved in one of the productions or the other........   And some archived information from Baker and others......

I think that the Mssrs. Levine & Sargent ran into each other that year at the Golden Globe Awards and ended up in a fist fight - THAT'S Show Business!!!

DR DRUXY - Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby was written by Anthony Wilson with characters created by Ira Levin.

It was pretty creepy and Ruth Gordon recreated her role as Minnie - I watched it, but don't remember much about it - even after reading the synopsis at IMDB.

I read Levin's sequel after MR BK wrote about it here awhile back, and it's okay.  The original is so perfect, I don't think we really needed to know anything else.

Speaking of a Fresh Hell:

My dental appointment was for two hours.   It lasted three hours and only ONE (count it, ONE!) tooth got prepped.

I blame Jose.  I do.

Had Jose not stupefied much of California upon his arrival, my dentist would not have run out of gas on her way to work, my dentist and I would not have been giggling like loons over an experience I had in her waiting room, thus lending the slightest possibility that one crown prep would have taken two hours instead of three.

Sigh.   I wondered out loud if two hours was enough time when the appointment was made and was assured it should be.   Ha.  Ha Ha.

So...another appointment next week for the other crown prep.   And then a double-coronation on December 7.

Three hours in the dental chair truly is HELL.
Title: Re: LSMFT
Post by: Ron Pulliam on November 10, 2011, 12:18:42 PM
Re:  The laughing-like-loons bit.

I arrived early, as is my practice, and entered the waiting room.  Just inside the door leading to the receptionist and all the dental rooms, a tall young man wearing an odd winter cap with ear flaps was talking freely about the trouble he had been having with his tooth and I figured someone out of my sight was the recipient of that description.

I sat down.  I immediately became aware that he had migrated out of the office area back into the waiting room...and that he had not been talking to anyone.

I became his audience.

I was informed of many things.  He is articulate, intelligent and slightly odd.  I thought perhaps he might be autisitic, but was later told he was simply "a bit off."

The things I learned:

He wants a family and a home and he wants people to know that he can live an independent life.  He wishes everyone would believe him.

He lost his virginity at age 18.  He's not a virgin any more but he has been celibate for three years.  He wishes he hadn't lost his virginity because he considers the young woman with whom he had coitus (if I may borrow a bit of dialogue from "The Big Bang Theory") to be untraceable and he worries if she wondered where he was or if she had married or if she has been traumatized by the experience.

I then learned that Northern California attracts an odd lot of people, some of whom are into hemp production.  He then bluntly said, "Marijuana!"  To which he added, "Marijuana is fine for some people who need it for stress release or pain control.  The trouble with marijuana is that people who use it make friends with people they wouldn't ordinarily be friends with."

Happily, one of the staff arrived and he was off and running about his tooth again.

BK,

I just came across this report.

http://www.side-line.com/news_comments.php?id=46980_0_2_0_C

What's your take on it?

My take is that I had best get with the 21st century, before I get left behind! LOL!

Once I get used to downloading music, and having a safe place to store it so that it doesn't get lost, it will certainly save me money....seems it is much cheaper to download albums then it is to buy the actual cd....but I just haven't gotten there yet.

Three hours in the dental chair truly is HELL.

We did have at least one laugh break.  But, truly, I spent two long hours a couple of weeks ago during the sinus lift.  It was very tiring and wearing on my nerves.   I was ready to go when it was over, that is for sure.

Thanks for the vibes DR Laura and DR Ginny.

My appointment was very brief.  The doctor determined that my hand injury from my fall was probably a contusion and that since the pain is lessening, there's no need for an x-ray at this time.
So, here's hoping all heals well.

So, Jose, are you to blame?

BK:

I have some questions about the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang cd (2cd)

I am wondering if I am correction on my assertions.

1) The Chu-Chi Face (Playback) sounds like the dance music at the castle (Sung after the vocal of Chu-Chi-Face and before Doll On the Music Box)

2) Doll On a Music Box (Part 3) Is this the actually version as heard and seen in the film rather than the version heard on the first cd1?  As Dick Van Dyke stops singing three times. Twice being hit by Howes and once seeing his reflection.

And on CD1

Also what exactly are differences between the LP & film music  for Chitty CHitty Bang Bang (Finale) & The Exit Music? I don't hear the differences

I am so annoyed right now. I hate it when i can't find something that i really want to find.

My bathing suit is too big. And it is a razorback and i need something to attach to the back to make it tighter. My sister gave me 2 bra clips. I am going swimming tomorrow morning. And i cannot find the clips. I looked in the original purse i put it in. I looked in my swimming purse (where i thought i put it). It's something so simple. And i know they are both together. I just wish i could remember where i put them. :(

For those concerned about the dvd mix being in mono, here's a quote (and link) from an interview with Grover Crisp, Executive VP of Asset Management, Film Restoration & Digital Mastering at Sony Pictures.

Q - The new DVD was released mono, but the press release indicated a new 5.1. What happened?

A - Quite frankly, I still don't know how it happened, except that somewhere in the manufacturing chain there was a mix-up and the wrong audio file was encoded. An honest mistake, but one that is obviously embarrassing and for which we apologize. The problem has been rectified now and as of last week all new discs manufactured have the correct 5.1 and anyone who wants a replacement can exchange it at the point of sale. All sellers should be aware of this.

Hope this helps.

George, you should have absolutely gotten a signed booklet - I'm now petrified that the helper somehow screwed up the invoices, which I had in strict arrival order, which is how they were given to her and she was told she could NOT screw up that order by turning them the wrong way or whatever.
