My question for ASK BK DAY:
Who pays the actors' royalties for television shows? The service/network broadcasting the reruns or the production company?
Good morning, all! I slept quite poorly, but that seems my status quo most of the time and I am not happy about it. I have absolutley no memories of any dreams, but I slept fitfully, was wide awake around 3:30, had a splitting headache around 5:00, and dragging myself wearily out of bed at 7:45 seemed the best option.
Today, more work on the ROBERTA "Wardrobe Scene," possibly a messenger delivery of the final masters of the Herbert songs to be approved, and whatever fresh hell arrives from Dublin or other environs today.
I fear this will put us into Cinemascope, but the Herbert songs have landed on Amazon:

BK re types of ereaders. I am not sure how popular KOBO is in the US. But it is the main ereader in Canada and popular in some other parts of the world. There is a huge Kobo store. Kobos ae what are huge bookchain CHAPTERS sells. They are everywhere here.Although like I said I really do not know how many people in the US use them.I have a friend with a Kobo who will be pleased to note that they are tied to a successful chain. She was worried about support if she ever needed it.
Vibes for DR DANISE and her helpers.Ditto.
I ordered the two CD's, so I guess I won't be getting my book for awhile.....I shall wait.

What is Vinnie "What's my nickname this time" Cirrilli up to these days?

Would it be alright to buy a copy of the new book and have it signed at a reading? Or is that unseemly? What if I bought an additional (different) book at the store?
And how is it happen that there are vendors on Amazon who are selling used copies at inflated prices?
Permit vibes to DR Danise
No-more-mishap vibes for DR and Mrs. Druxy!

I may have found my leading lady for DEAREST ENEMY!
I am totally lost.
No-more-mishap vibes for DR and Mrs. Druxy!
I've been trying to get the Dublin boys on casting availability since Feb, and I think we will not get Ovenden because he's got another offer for August. Dammit.
I may have found my leading lady for DEAREST ENEMY!
Very good news!
From DR Laura:Where do you categorize "Lord of the Flies"?QuoteI am totally lost.

I see the terms have been explained.
DR Jennifer, I do enjoy YA & would like to read more of it than I do.
The term dystopian is a new for me & I'm not sure I've read any YA books that fit it. I've read adults ones that do.

Not being clear here - your book went out yesterday with the others - only people who ordered book and CDs in ONE order have to wait. You made two separate orders - one for the book, one for the CDs.
Chapters is a huge book chain in Canada. Sort of like Barnes and Noble. They also have a website where they sell a lot (www.chapters.ca). I am sort of surprised that you have not heard of the kobo. It is the ereader Chapters sells. But also I know others around the world have it. There is a huge kobo store like amazon (you could just type in kobo store to see). My sister has a kobo app on her blackberry playbook. They do not seem to have huge amounts of free books like amazon does. But there are codes floating around for 40%off.BK re types of ereaders. I've not heard of Kobo nor Chapters. :-\
When does the new TITANIC miniseries by the writer of DOWNTON ABBEY start here in the colonies? It has already started airing here in Canada. I saw a promo on tv. Isit on ABC? It was some time in April.
Sorry I have not read this. Is it thought of as science fiction? From DR Laura:Where do you categorize "Lord of the Flies"?QuoteI am totally lost.

Not in the least. It's a classic that's taught here in many high schools about a stranded group of boys who set up their own society and watch it disintegrate into violence and animalistic behavior.Sorry I have not read this. DR Jane I am not sure if it is only these new YA books that are labelled as dysopian. But it is only in the last few years that i have heard this term. If you want I can recommend a few that i have loved. You could always read the descriptions and see if they sound good to you. They are mostly trilogies though.
I had a lovely time discussing SARAH'S KEY at the library where my career began almost 39 years ago. Sitting next to me was the last-remaining staff member hired by me and she's retiring at the end of June. Sort of a funny feeling...

I've had very little time to read or post messages because recording sessions followed by dinner leave hardly any spare time (it's late at night now). Tomorrow features choral recordings and in the evening I will be catching a flight back to London. Weather in Prague has been fantastically good but the forecast is for cooler weather and rain tomorrow.
DR Laura I forget to check your blog though I always enjoy going to it. Thank you for the reminder.

Goodreads has LORD OF THE FLIES as: Classics, Young Adult, Science Fiction/Dystopia, post-apocalyptic.
Oy! Such a day. Lots going on, but the DEAREST ENEMY boys haven't killed me, the conductor hasn't throttled me, and I'm still standing. The new deadline is in process: listening to the masters of the Herbert songs. Sounds pretty good.
DR Jane re: some really good Young Adult dystopia from the last year or two.
The ones that got the most buzz other than the Hunger Games i'd say were:
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Shatter by Tahereh Mafi
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Matched by Allie Condie
Wither by Lauren De Stefano

Well, I'm off. Tonight, I'm going to see Capital Playhouse's production of Hello, Dolly! (http://www.capitalplayhouse.com/siab)
I'm sure that it'll be a lot of fun. Be back later!

This message was brought to you by the Onion:
Marching Band Fundraiser
The Onion would like to apologize for erroneously stating that the Fillmore High School marching band car-wash fundraiser will be held Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It will actually be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Onion recognized the time and date given were incorrect at the time of publication, but you, dear reader, have no idea—no idea at all—how control over the world's facts becomes a seductive temptress, ceaselessly tormenting our only too-human editors to feel the raw, exhilarating, godlike power of manipulating the truth for our own selfish ends. The price of a car wash is also $5 not $8.
Had a nice chat with one of my former interviewees who entertained me with stories of Raymond Burr's fondness for Marines on leave.
The Washington Center is proud to present...our fourth year of screening three classic silent films with live music. This season we commemorate the year the original Liberty Theater opened on the current site of the Washington Center with three exciting films:
The series provides a contemporary opportunity to experience a style of entertainment from the Golden Age of Hollywood, and official Center organist Dennis James offers an intriguing look into the history of each film, as well as a new, original score played on the Center’s beautifully restored Andy Crow Wurlitzer pipe organ.
Dennis James has dedicated his professional career to the continuation of the theatrical traditions of, and public interest in, the theater pipe organ. From the time he began concertizing while still in his teens, James has been at the top of the theater organ profession. He has played virtually everywhere pipe organs are to be found, from preserved movie palaces through the United States and Canada to concert halls and theaters in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
James is the newly (2010) appointed "Theatre Organist for the Washington Center" a professional position in the Washington Center for the Performing Arts in Olympia, Washington, and also the newly appointed (2010) "House Organist" for the Coleman Theatre, Miami, Oklahoma and "House Organist" for the Lynwood Theatre on Bainbridge Island, Washington, while continuing as the regular silent film organist for the Stanford Theatre in Palo Alto, California), California Theatre in San Jose, California and Poncan Theatre in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
