Well, you've read the notes, the notes finished and had a good mix, and now it is time for you to post until the mixed cows come home.

Good morning, all! I had planned to be out of bed by 6:30, but I decided at 5:30 that I had slept enough so I am now moving about and having my first cup of coffee.

In a couple of hours, I'm boarding the 104 bus and heading downtown to Toyland to pick up some things and use the office scanner. I'd use the binder, if I knew how, but I don't. I'll  take the three Act One DEAREST ENEMY full scores to Kinko's and have them bound so I can ship two copies on Monday to our conductor and producer.

Here's some good news mixed with the bad: Steve Kazee, who's so wonderful as the lead in ONCE, has left the show for a few days to be in Kentucky with his mother, who's ill with cancer. My friend Ben Hope, who created the Joseph character in our spring reading of the Appalachian Christmas piece, went on for him. I think it might be Ben's Broadway devut and I am so happy for him.

Work today.  Oh well.

I don't enjoy LIVE albums, although I listen now and then.

I would guess my favorites would be:

Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall

and  The Brothers Four On Campus.

This is not to slight any of the Kritzerland Live Albums.....the genre is just not my cup of tea.

Laura, I love parsley with just about anything, so that would work. Basil would also work. A little rosemary goes a very long way; it's extremely powerful, so use sparingly. Cilantro is great, for those who like the flavor; like rosemary, it can get soapy if used in excess. Oregano gives it a Greek-Italian spin; it, too, can be strong.

So, parsley would be my first choice, with perhaps a little thyme mixed in if you have it.

If you are using fresh herbs, add them at the finish, about a minute or two before serving, as they can wither in the cooking and get funky and old tasting.

There is a very nice circa 1972 album of Sergio at the Greek Theater (called the Greek Carnival for reasons I know not) that has some gorgeous stuff on it.  He's backed by a full orchestra which reproduces those stunning Grusin orchestrations, and it's one of only two albums he did with Geri Stevens (AKA Dodie "Pink Shoelaces" Stevens) as his lead vocalist, and she sounds MAH-velous.

There is one rather specious gentleman in the world of cabaret.  He posts five times a day on a cabaret Facebook page, the same post over and over, for whatever show or shows he's doing.  On his latest "flyer" he mentions a performer as "Broadway's" so and so.  Oh?  Funny, as that performer has never stepped foot on a Broadway stage.  What is this obsession with always putting something in parens after a performer's name - if we know who they are we'll know who they are, and if we don't no amount of lying or regional credits will help us know who they are.  It's yet another thing "borrowed" from movie press releases that should stop immediately.

TCB was supposed to have admitted to the hospital rehab, but his insurance doesn't cover that part of the treatment in that facility.  So the admin office secured him a spot in a place that does.  It is supposed to be top notch place.

At the end of the day no move had been made, so Tom will be at the hospital through the weekend.  Sharry thinks he was a bit disappointed as he is ready to get started with his therapy.

I'm a bit disappointed that, unlike my other other one person plays, there has been little interest shown in Maurice Chevalier. Aside from the fact that I'd like people to read and/or perform the play, which (I think) is one of the best I've done, it's sad that this wonderful entertainer seems to have been virtually forgotten.

Chevalier always brought a smile to your face.

Fame is so fleeting.

We had a delightful lunch with niece Rev. Amy and her family and a visit as long as the patience of her 7-year-old and 4-year-old boys.  I suspect one or both of them were asleep within the first 5 minutes of the car ride home.  I dropped Richard off here at the hotel and went back to JoAnn's for more pins and finished the Easter craft I've been working on:

In defense of the title song from Sunset Blvd - without the full orchestration, the song just cannot be done well.  Without a string section, it sounds like dying cats - to quote bk.  And he's right.  It's in 5-flats to begin with (I believe) a horrible key for string players and when you don't have a full section, well, we all know what one violin sounds completely different than a section and when a violin has nothing to tune to, well - that's all on that.

Had a terrific seder in New Jersey last night.

DR FJL, with a bouncy vamp lead-in, that would be a good opening line for a song.

Today I splurged and purchased a box of Häagen-Dazs snack size vanilla caramel sundae cones (a crunchy waffle cone lined with rich milk chocolate, filled with creamy Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream, drizzled with rich caramel sauce, and topped with roasted almonds).  A drizzle of caramel & no more.  The almonds weren't roasted & I can't/don't eat raw almonds.  The cone was just terrible & tasted stale.

I logged in to Häagen-Dazs to fill out a complaint I was asked for info on the box & realized the expiration date was last November.  No wonder it tasted stale.  I also expect during the recent remodeling at the market the ice cream melted & was refrozen more than once.

I will be returning the box of ice cream.

I'll begin with the best news from DR TCB's friend Sharry:

he just seems so pleased to be out of pain and to feel his limb come alive again.

he looked fantastic...better than I have seen in months.  He's not needing much in the way of pain control and his appetite is decent.

That's terrific!! ;D

John G., thanks for the herbal advice. Mae-Ling always opens my cupboard to see what I have in there. I am trying to get her to understand that I have fresh herbs growing, instead of needing to use dried.

We made chicken and zucchini and yellow squash. She used parsley, thyme, and rosemary (she loves rosemary). Plus Wae-Ling made rissotto.

Sadly, they gave the kids jelly beans and other junk at the church, so they didn't eat much.

DR John G, I bought a small (read $50) Dyson-style vacuum at Bed, Bath & Beyond a while back, which really does a great job! I didn't expect much for that price, but was pleasantly surprised. Vibes you find a new vac that you're happy with.

My nieces made out with tons of Easter loot at the Sedar! :)

It's too funny that 3 different people brought them Easter bags. Instead of being presenting with money for hiding the matzah they were presented with Easter baskets. It was too funny.

Thanks. I ended up with a Hoover from Target. The dead one was a Hoover, so here's hoping this one works. I really needed to finish up the house, so it was off to the store for a replacement.

On January 30, 2012, the topic of the day was our all-time favorite William Holden movies, Kim Novak movies, and Rosalind Russell movies.  I said that I hadn't seen "Picnic" and I added it to my Neflix queue.  It just arrived today and I'm sort of watching it.  This DVD is the only one available and it's pan-and-scan. :P

Done with the Triduum - kinda - well, the big stuff is over.  Tomorrow is just over crowded Liturgies and an Easter Bunny.  It's all I can do to get through them.  Tonight was awesome, though.  The best every year.

Topic of the Day...these are what I can think of.  I'm sure that there are others:

Andrew Lloyd Webber - The Royal Albert Hall Celebration (actually, this doesn't count. I made my own CD from the DVD...but it sounds very good)

Follies in Concert
Hey, Mr. Producer
Jerry Springer: The Opera
The Manhattan Transfer "The Manhattan Transfer Live" (1978)
The Manhattan Transfer "Live" (1987)
The Manhattan Transfer "Man Tora! Live In Tokyo"
Les Misérables - The 10th anniversary concert
Bernadette Peters - "Sondheim Etc." and "Sondheim Etc. Etc."
Simply Sondheim: A 75th Birthday Salute
Sondheim: A Celebration at Carnegie Hall
Donna Summer - "Live and More"

Just about any of the STAGE recordings.
