Well, you've read the notes, the notes were scary, and now it is time for you to post until the ax-wielding scary cows come home.

Here's the new release information:

Kritzerland is proud to present three new CD releases – three great live recordings of the all-star annual STAGE benefits:

BY SIDE BY SIDE BY SIDE BY SIDE BY STEPHEN SONDHEIM
The 23rd Annual STAGE Benefit Concert

BLAME IT ON BACHARACH
The 24th Annual STAGE Benefit Concert

THE PERFECT YEAR: THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER
The 20th Annual STAGE Benefit Concert

The annual STAGE benefits have been going on for over twenty-five years now – they are always an exciting event, peopled with wonderful performers doing wonderful music.  Several of them have been recorded live and released on CD, including the Kritzerland release of Schwartz, Schwartz, and Strouse.   We are very pleased to present three never before released recordings.

The Stephen Sondheim concert features a glittering array of performers, including Len Cariou, Sally Ann Howes, Patrick Cassidy, Shaun Cassidy, Ann Hampton Callaway, Nancy Dussault, Betty Garrett, Randy Graff, Alice Ripley, Michelle Nicastro, Felicity Huffman, Marc Cherry, Valarie Pettiford, Charlotte Rae, Carole Cook, Rip Taylor, and many others, all performing the brilliant Sondheim songs from such classics as Follies, Company, A Little Night Music, Anyone Can Whistle, Merrily We Roll Along, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to the Forum, Into the Woods and more.

The Bacharach concert features an amazing cast, including Melissa Manchester, Stephen Bishop, Vicki Lewis, Donna McKechnie, Dave Koz, Marilyn Maye, Nancy Dussault, Stefanie Powers, Danny Gurwin, Justin Guarini, Catte Adams, Carole Cook, Jai Rodriguez, Valarie Pettiford and more, all singing such Bacharach classics as “Baby, It’s You,” “A House Is Not a Home,” “Alfie,” “Anyone Who Had a Heart,” “Blue on Blue,” “The Look of Love,” “Walk on By,” and, from Promises, Promises, “Half as Big as Life,” “Turkey Lurkey Time,” and “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” and more.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber Concert features a wonderful company of performers, including Tyne Daly, Bill Hutton, Valerie Perri, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Carole Cook, Dale Kristien, Franc D’Ambrosio, Ken Page, Terri Bibb, Karen Culliver, Mary D’Arcy, Anastasia Barzee, Reece Holland, David Burnham, William Katt, Brian Lane Green, Joan Ryan, Leslie Jordan, Valarie Pettiford, Kim Huber, Keith David, Nita Whitaker, Mary Jo Catlett, Sean McDermott, and many others, many of the performers appeared in the original companies of such Lloyd Webber classics as Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ, Superstar and more.

Recorded live, with all the vitality and excitement and, yes, sometimes roughness that goes with the territory.  These were once-in-a-lifetime evenings and now they’re yours to enjoy on these CDs.

The Sondheim and Lloyd Webber albums are two-CD sets priced at 24.98 plus shipping.  The Bacharach album is a single CD priced at $19.98 plus shipping.  A portion of the proceeds goes to AIDS Project, Los Angeles, and other AIDS organizations.  We’re pleased to offer a special sale price for those who wish to order all three titles.  Just follow the link if you want to take advantage of the special deal.

CDs will ship by the fourth week of May – however, preorders placed directly through Kritzerland usually ship one to five weeks earlier (we’ve been averaging four weeks early).   To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

Good morning, all! At 5:45, I figured, what the hell and got out of bed. I'm shortly off to Toyland to use the scanner and work space. i'll proof the latest DEAREST ENEMY scores from there, and hopefully sinish another couple of ROBERTA scores.

Last night, after a couple of hours of tsuris things have calmed down for a moment. Hopefully, the moment of panic I found myself in is now put to rest. Most of the day was pleasant: I had a great time at City Center with Joshie and his intern Elise, who was taping the orchestra parts for Tuesday's orchestra reading of GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES. Rob Berman stopped by, so it was nice to see him, and we finished the DEAREST ENEMY vocal score, which is something to see. I fortunately had my cell phone turned off, because i am simply inept with the thing and forgot to turn it on after charging it, so I missed the myriad calls yesterday. If I'd taken the calls, we'd still be finishing the vocal score.

I can't go into details, so you'll have to wait for my memoirs. I can ask, though, that you keep those vibes coming my way. My life until September1 is going to be a roller coaster, and you've been warned.

Today is a work day.  Oh well.

I am taking some CD's that I have burned, that contain all of the music from Titanic 1997 - and I have added parts of the CD Book of A Night To Remember between the songs.

We shall try to get some additional people to join us for the Titanic Seance tomorrow night.

I never drive the 101

I take old Los Angeles highway to the 118 to the 210 and drop into the valley at Foothill in Sunland.
No traffic at 70mph the whole way, even on the drive home.

I saw your car.

Friday morning greetings!  Sorry I didn't check back in last night, but I was exhausted after taking Mother to the new chiropractor.  Didn't get home until after 5pm, ate dinner, watched some TV with Richard, finished up a project that had to be done by today, and collapsed in bed about 10.

Later this afternoon I'm off to Findlay, OH, for the AAUW state convention, so I'll be packing and posting today.

Unusual for me, but I haven't felt like watching much recently.

Last weekend, we watched CHAPLIN, which I really like, but there's nothing new that has come out on DVD during the last few weeks that has been of interest.

Besides, I'm following BK's lead and writing a 2nd memoir, which is keeping me very busy.

Greetings from Toyland! The super has been in to check on the lighting in my office. It's dead as Santorum's presidential career this year. It turns out to not be a fuse but something in the circuit, so they will send in a professional electrician to check out the problem in the next few days.

The big crisis of yesterday has shrunk to a major irritation, but that's okay for the next week or so.

I thought I'd get some fish and chips at a nearby takeaway - it's months since I bought any. It should only have been about a 5 minute drive and 5 minutes back. I set off and stopped to let a van driver get out of a side road into the main traffic. He immediately broke down in front of me. After getting past him I drove onto the main road which was practically at a standstill with traffic and a neon sign ahead said Long Delays Due to Accident. So my short 10 minute there and back trip ended up taking around an hour or so but at least the fish and chips were good when I eventually got back home.

A friend of mine, Peggy, is in need of some vibes. She had been diagnosed earlier this year with cancer, which turned out to be non Hogdkins lymphoma and is fairly treatable. Unfortunately, her liver is starting to fail because of the stress of the treatments and things don't look too good. Is anyone familiar with the book" Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan"?  Is was written in 1898 & is about a large passenger ship that hits an iceberg.  It too did not have enough lifeboats for all of the passengers.

I've heard about that book, DR Jane, but haven't read it

The author, Morgan Robertsonm had been a sailor & knew about ships & the dangers of modern technology.

"A 1914 edition of Wreck of the Titan included another Robertson story, "Beyond the Spectrum." This story centered on a war between the US and Japan (as were other speculative war stories), in which the Japanese were armed with a special ultraviolet searchlight, which had effects similar to those from atomic weapons."

That's very interesting...I've never heard of it.  I just did a search in our library's catalog and we actually have this title:  "The Wreck of the Titan, or, Futility ; &, Morgan Robertson, the Man."  It's a reprint of two books in one from 1995 and we still have live copies.

And "The Wreck of the Titan, or, Futility" available as a free Kindle download (http://www.amazon.com/The-Wreck-Titan-Futility-ebook/dp/B004SQTHFG/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1334360091&sr=1-1).  There are also other editions that cost.

I think you just have to make sure that they are really stuck to your eyes. If you have a decent pair (which i'm sure you do) then you just have to make sure that water doesn't keep getting in them.  I once had a very cheap pair and they fogged up a lot. But if you bought a slightly more expensive pair they aren't supposed to fog up.

The book i was hoping to read was taken out by someone else ( i am number 2) .There must be someone else at my library who reads the same series i do. I checked and i suggested this current book on sept 30th. That is a long time. And we are the only two. For her to have suggested it sooner ... well i don't even know when the title was released. :)

At least one of the other books i wanted was there so i picked it up (they still haven't released the others yet).

The other was my pinkie (actually the other one - not the one that got cut).My niece was throwing me her Harlem Globetrotter basketball. And instead of bounching it to me. She bounced it right at my hand. And she got my pinkie. Ouch. I iced it. It still hurts but i can move it okay.

Do you have them very tight on the sides of your eyes (like it might hurt). There needs to be no space. They need to be suctioned to her face pretty hard. It might feel uncomfortable at first.

My niece is so cute. She has started reading chapter books to herself. I am very impressed at 6 1/2. I'm not even sure if the other kids in her class can read in English (since they are really only teaching them to read in French). Although i would imagine that they would sort of get the idea for English books.

One day she was reading beside me. And she kept laughing out loud and asking if she could tell me the funny parts. :)

I think your library puts a book in the sytem very early on. I like that idea. Mine doesn't do that. My sister's library is sort of in between. They put the book into their system i think when they order it. So you can see where are you (although not when you suggest the book).

I wish i could see what place i am. Usually i am first. Although it seems when i really want a book then i am second.

I can usually tell how popular a book is. For instance this other book i am waiting for i am 95% sure i am first. I sort of had a feeling about the book the other girl took (where i am 2nd).

My library only puts the book into their system when they have received their copy at the library to process. But we can't even see our place then (for instance i saw the book was in binding 2 days ago). Only when they put the reservations in the system (on the day the books go out) can you see your position.

We don't have numbers like that here. You would never ben number 50 for anything. I know your library serves a lot of areas. How many people do you think live in these areas?

Here my library is only for my one suburb. There is another library 10 minutes away. There are a lot of people that live in the suburb (maybe 50-70K). But i think if you were number 20 for something it would be extremely odd.

Even the dvds that you can now reserve. There are at most 6 reservations for each new movie.

I was exaggerating a little.  That has only happened with the really hot books like the Millennium Trilogy.  Yes, we do cover a very large area.

The DVD's seem to have long waits.  It is easier for us to go to the Red Box for $1.20  & they have been sending us special discounts.

Am having difficulty picturing this.  Were you somehow holding that something you were throwing away in your mouth?  And that's why you reached with your neck?

That's sort of like a form of whiplash, I'm reckoning.

A chair massage might help.

So, I don't have a Blu and Ray player yet. Anybody know if my laptop will play these? The library has started getting Blu-Ray discs, so I guess I have to buckle down and get one.

The first four episodes of "Big Love" are really depressing. And it doesn't look like the rest of the season is going to get much better. Bummer.

Listening to Titanic - The Ultimate Collection.  Very thankful that this made it onto the hard drive and not sitting in storage somewhere when it should be played this weekend!

Not to ask the obvious question, but does your laptop have a Blu-ray drive?

Finished with my viewing for the evening.  We had a good Melody rehearsal, too.

The library where I work has not gotten into Blu-rays at all.  We only get DVDs.  Just a couple of months ago, the selector wanted to buy a new movie, but it was only available in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack for $35 or so (list price).  Because of the requests, she decided to buy it.  We took out the Blu-ray discs and just circulated the DVDs.  The Blu-rays are probably going to be used as freebies at our All Staff Training Day or could be give-aways for the adult reading program.

There was another movie that was also only available in a Blu-ray/DVD combo that she didn't get at all.
