Well, you've read the notes, the notes were rainy and went pit pit-a-pat, and now it is time for you to post until the rainy cows come home.

Good morning, all! Last night's dream contained a train ride with a group of friends, exchaging a ticket.  and a performance at the Arena Stage that Obama was attending.  I have no idea what it means.

Since it's a weekend, the City has screwed up the subwat schedules, so I must needs take two buses to Toyland today. There are several things to be accomplished. I will make the bed and head out.

Yes DR ELMORE as DR CILLA LIZ posted last night - the Titanic miniseries will be on ABC tonight for three hours and will wrap up tomorrow night with a one hour episode.

The British reviews haven't been very kind.....and I downloaded the first three episodes - didn't like it much....a bit confusing - but perhaps they will edit it differently for US television.

Bangarang Radio will be broadcasting from WOW all day today starting at 12 Noon EST.   And they will have a live stream of our Titanic Seance beginning at 7:40 p.m.

I'm not exactly sure how it works....but I think you can find it on this page.  And that's PQRN Radio....not PORN Radio.

Yesterday DR RonP wrote about my strange neck injury:
Quote
Am having difficulty picturing this.  Were you somehow holding that something you were throwing away in your mouth?  And that's why you reached with your neck?

That's sort of like a form of whiplash, I'm reckoning.

Imagine you are sitting at a computer desk and the garbage is under the desk.

I sort of thought that the garbage was in a certain place but it was further back. And instead of bending down and hitting my head on the keyboard i sort of lowered my neck. But since the garbage was not where i thought i ended up lowering my neck without actually moving my head.

If that makes any more sense.  It's just slightly aggravated today. But it should be fine.  The reason i was slightly concerned is that i used to have bad neck problems. I even once had to wear a brace for a couple months.

DR George was mentioning that his library does not have Blu-rays.  For some reason mine does now. And they are double buying every movie.  Are there really that many people who have Blu-ray but not a regular dvd player?  It seems crazy to me for them to be spending that much money on dvds.

I have a hard time with Julian Fellowes as a writer: his script for GOSFORD PARK was wonderful and I very much like DOWNTON ABBEY, but his libretto for MARY POPPINS is an illogical, meandering piece of crap.

I am experiencing the weirdest phenomenon that I think I have to go see my doctor about if it doesn't abate.  I planted some flowers last week and then within a day or two my wrists (!) and palms got covered in a really bumpy rash.  It doesn't itch, it doesn't hurt, but days of antibiotics and hydrocortisone have done nothing to make it go away.  I'm getting a little freaked out.

I wonder what JR's Dream Gizmo will make of this one:

I was at a cabin which evidently belonged to me, and for some reason I made my living doing people's  taxes.  A woman and her child showed up to pick up the woman's taxes, but just then a huge bear lumbered up on the porch and I refused to open the door since my own family was inside and I wanted to keep them safe.  The woman got hysterical and started pushing on the door and her child slipped through the opening, and I told her I would keep her kid safe but that I would not open the door.  Then, as dreams do, it all shifted and the woman was IN the cabin, and in fact in my bathtub (though clothed), and I was telling her how glad I was she was safe, and she started berating me for not letting her in and I told her to get out of my home immediately.

Isn't that outre?

While I usually enjoy watching BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE on occasion, I agree with BK that there's something that holds back the film.  Maybe one zany character too many?

I never read the play--I need to dig it up.  I wonder if it's doable today?

Just picked more than 10 pounds of loquats off the tree and didn't make a dent in the supply. Am making a compote with dried cherries, cranberries and prunes. Should be great on vanilla ice cream.

I had planned on making loquat wine with all of them, but the recipe called for a 4-gallon pot, which I don't have.

Well, there's one point where the movie parts company with the play.  I don't think Kim Novak was playing a lively free spirit.

I am sorry if I have kept you all out of the loop, until now.   Anyway, on Thursday I left the Care Center and returned to my house.  I will be undergoing P.T. on an outpatient basis, after I have healed a bit more.

That nursing home was not a good fit for me.  I am sure there is plenty of guilt to go around.  Naturally, I fell like I have made all of the right decisions regarding my recovery; and I honestly believe that their actions and conditions were counter-productive to my getting well.  I talked to my surgeon’s office and I also talked directly to my nursing home doctor about my reasons for leaving; both had no problem with my actions.  I attempted to call my Primary Care Doctor, as well, but he was out of town.  I left him a message regarding the change in my care.

I would have come out of the place a lot more screwed up than when I went in.; if I had stayed any longer than I did.

TCB, your comments may or may not be a propos this anecdote, but they reminded me of it.

I play a lot of retirement homes, and at one of them a former member of my Senior Choir was a new resident.  She was probably 85 if she was a day.  She came up to me to talk to me while I was playing and I asked her how she liked it.  She leaned in and whispered conspiratorially:  "I hate it.  Look at all these people--they're so old!"

A woman in my book group just had to downsize & move to a small apartment in a retirement community.  She hates being with all the "white haired" ladies.

I was watching the Titanic mini series, not really into it.  I'm recording it so I'll watch the rest later.  I just don't care about the characters and there are a lot of them to keep straight.  Anyway, looks like the bad weather isn't over.  think I'll be up late.

Thankfully it is gone now.  I always get very scared since i have a history of migraines (very few but serious).

Went bike riding with my niece twice today. For quite a while. I wonder if i am actually getting an exercise. I mean i'm on my bike (for probably 2-3 hours). But i'm really not exerting much effort. My pulse doesn't raise. But my feet are always moving.  I guess it must be some exercise hopefully :)

My other niece is getting a new 2 wheeler with training wheels for her 3rd birthday in a month. She is very excited. Today she did ride on her tricyle. Although it took her like 30 minutes to get around the block. Good thing i didn't have to ride my bike beside her.

It was another warmish day today. And i think tomorrow is supposed to be even nicer. Was scheduled to be low 70s when i checked earlier. That is the warmest it's been here besides that one week of summer weather more than a month ago.

I just started watching "Harry's Law" when I read your post.  It's now about 8:20 and it turns out that my DVR was on ABC, so I was able to rewind it and watch from the beginning.  My niece asked if I could make a DVD for her.  I can, pretty easily.

DR George was mentioning that his library does not have Blu-rays.  For some reason mine does now. And they are double buying every movie.  Are there really that many people who have Blu-ray but not a regular dvd player?  It seems crazy to me for them to be spending that much money on dvds.

Exactly...and all Blu-ray players can play DVDs.  For several years, our library was buying both DVDs and VHS tapes for the same titles, as well as CDs and cassettes.

When I left my parents' house, I was going to drive my niece home.  We decided to go to the Blockbuster that is closing so that she could buy some stuff.  Today, all the movies were only $1 each (and the movies in sleeves were 2 for $1)!  She bought a dozen movies and I bought another 17, count 'em 17 movies...for only $18.54!  Seven of them were Blu-ray. :D

Another score!

Cecil made the antipasti. He had grilled zucchini and yellow squash separately seasoned so there was a huge difference in flavor, a tomato-basil salad, tart pickled eggplant with plenty of vinegar and lemon peel, grilled raddichio, roasted red bell pepper, raw fennel and a mushroom salad that I could have eaten all night.

Sandy, the hostess, set out some burrata and Patti, another guest, brought some wild boar sausage.

An array of Italian white wines and Prosecco went with them.

I made a Tuscan white bean and shrimp salad. I had made this before and didn't care for it. This version I loved because I had organic white beans from Italy and fresh Gulf shrimp to work with. The ingredients in something this simple have to be exceptional. They may cost a little more, but I found in this case, they were really worth it.

Patti made brasciole, a meat roll, that was somewhat overcooked, but the flavor was really good.

Pam, Cecil's wife, made the main dessert: sage pudding. It was a recipe from Lidia Bastiancich and it worked beautifully (and I'm not a huge sage fan).

Patti knew what dessert would be, so she made lemon-pecan-corn meal cookies to go with them. They were light and like a Mexican wedding cookie, only more delicate.

Steve, Sandy's husband, opened the wines and proved indispensable at that. We also had a few red, but the whites were really stellar and everyone appreciated that. That makes me glad. I prefer a dry white that's well made to a pricy red wine. (Maybe it's because I live in a hot climate and icy whites are welcome here.)

Well, that was dinner. We talked and got to know Patti a little better than we had. This will be the first time that Pam and Cecil have traveled with Steve and Sandy. I've traveled with both separately, and none of us had traveled with Patti before.

I hope it works.

Cecil also lent me some rather large tubs, which means I will likely start making loquat wine in the next day or two.

I've never made wine before, and although loquat wine is sweet, I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

Yikes!

Hey!  Did I miss anything?

Welcome home, TCB!!

I must say that there are times when I think of people like Jose and a few others who just up and leave without a word (of course they don't up and leave Facebook, where it's more about them, I suppose) that I just want to shut this jernt down because I find it so irritating.  I know Jose has done this before and then finally makes a reappearance months later, but I just will never understand it - no one did anything to him (and I'm not just talking about him specifically but he happened to be on my mind today because I'd sent him two e-mails (not about his absence) both of which went unanswered, which I find truly disgusting), and please don't tell me that everyone has been having wonderful private e-mails and he's just taking a break, because I don't want to hear it about him or anyone else, frankly - I'm at the point where if he never comes back then that's just peachy with me - I think everyone on this site has been far too good to him, and that includes me - but enough about that - my POINT is that whenever I start feeling this way, going to that place, I look at what this site really is about - TCB coming back to us and healing, Vixmom alive and well, people supporting and caring about each other - and I know I will NEVER shut it down because it's very special here.  At least the folks here have BEEN here for TCB - those who haven't probably don't even know what's gone on.  I guess it can be fun to be in a bubble or have it be all about you, but for me?  Feh.  End of rant.
