Well, you've read the notes, there were vultures circling the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently at an estate sale spending their hard earned MOOney.
-
And the word of the day is: LITTORAL!
-
First post after MR BK - huzzah!
-
Condolences to the friends and family of Peggy - friend of DR JOHNG.
-
Now I know everything about the Mahler Sixth.....thanks to DR CHASSMITH
-
DR ELMORE the abridged NICE WORK script was most entertaining!
-
It is Saturday....and we are expecting the thunderstorms that have been predicted since Tuesday to at last arrive.
And of course it is a work day.....oh well.
-
DR JMK - I think Purdue would be a nice home for your Frances collection.....anyone doing research on her should HAVE to come to Indiana anyway.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Off to my last Fiesta event of the year this morning: the Pooch Parade. I have never been. It should be interesting.
-
We need pictures of the Pooch Parade. Today is the day of the Mutt Strut around the Indy 500 track, so maybe there will be doggies news stories this evening on the local channels.
-
Off to work. Oh well.
ANNIE vibes for DR MATTHEW.....and STAGE vibes for MR BK and those pesky musicians.
-
TOD: I love to search for recordings, in any format, of musicals that I don't have, which may be why I've ended up with seven recording of "Annie Get Your Gun."
I also love to find an author and search out most everything he or she has written. I think it started with George Eliot, but through the years I've collected all of J.B. Priestley's novels, Anthony Trollope's, all but one of Dawn Powell's, and so many more. Currently, I'm looking for Balzac. I just wish I had the time to read a few of them, but classes are getting in the way of my education.
-
I will try to post some pooches parading about, though it may not be today. It all depends on the time. I've got to get a paper finished this weekend and I only have about 10 pages of notes. It will likely be doubled by the time it's finished.
-
"The sun'll come out" vibes for Matthew and Annie. (BTW: I would love some foie gras poppers.)
-
Good morning to all.
Health vibes to all that need them.
-
What a bummer that the STAGE concert won't be recorded. Why are musician such asses when it comes to things like this?
-
And the word of the day is: LITTORAL!
And The Song Of The Day Is: BY THE SEA
-
It's still raining.
-
Good morning, all! I hate being out late because it screws up my following day. I git ti bed too late and I slept in this morning much longer than I had planned. I have a lot of work at Toyland today and I want to get started. I have work on a couple of ROBERTA scores y be scanned and converted to pdf files. I'm in a quandary about DEAREST ENEMY orchestra parts for the recording, so I have to settle on what we'll do about it today.
I need to make the bed and get out.
-
TOD:
I really don't do much "hunting" these days, but when I did, I used to look for signed lobby cards.
-
Hunting passions: The usual. Books, records, music, first and foremost. Something for the wall. Nice small things. Really, whatever appeals, and you often don't know what appeals till you see it. In my area, estate sales are just a bit less unruly, but I hear nightmare stories about those closer in to the city -- particularly from a friend on Long Island who has had some incredibly wonderful finds whilst suffering similar kinds of heartbreak at the hands of the vultures.
-
I'm off to the beautiful old Lafayette Theater wherest I will be treated to a movie I've never seen called "Dead End" (1937), along with a well chosen cartoon, perhaps a vintage trailer, all at the extremely capable hands of Peter Appruzzese, Projectionist Supremo. A Saturday morning treat.
-
Saturday morning greetings! We're having some down time today. Mom is still sleeping and I'm trying to be quiet. This is the actual 50th wedding that we'll celebrate tomorrow. On this day in 1962, my sister and her husband were married and I wore nylon stockings for the first time as their junior bridesmaid. I know - TMI...
-
TOD: I haven't bought anything collection-wise in a long long time, but at one time I had great fun buying vintage Evelyn Nesbit postcards for DR Sandra and vintage Marilyn Monroe postcards for former DR Megan. I got them on ebay.
-
TOD - Once in a while, I'll go searching for a Vera Bradley item in a discontinued pattern or style. My first forays into eBay were for that purpose and now there's a Facebook VB sales group that has been helpful.
-
DR JohnG - I love Dawn Powell and have thought of working up a Chautauqua-style re-enactment!

AT the time it bothered me. But whatever. I'm trying to remember if i got anything equal. I don't think so which is probably why it bugged me. I think it wasn't so much that my sister got it. But rather that i had always loved it and then it was specifically given to someone else.

Fifty years ago today - My sister and her husband with their parents:

Nice photo, DR Ginny--too bad you're not in it!

Greetings from Washington National Airport. On my way to the city that never sleeps.

Nice photo, DR Ginny--too bad you're not in it!
There are some others in the same scrapbook, DR KevinH, that I'm in. I'll try to grab them - thanks for asking!
-
My niece (golf pro Laura) is coming over to visit with Gram and my sister and I are going out shopping/lunching.
Bye for now!
-
I'm really tired. I was going to work today, but it isn't going to happen. I think I did something to my ankle last night while working the book sale. Anyway, I'm feeling a bit like I've been run over by a truck...not that I know what that really feels like, since I haven't in fact been run over by a truck, but at least what I imagine it feels like
-
I should run down to Jitters. They are having the best cookie in Siouxland contest and the best dog cookie in Siouxland contest. Homeless dogs are the judges for the best home made dog cookies. It could be quite interesting
-
Methinks MBarnum and JR will probably be interested in some of the new MGM vault titles coming to WB Archives.
-
I'm up - got up at nine-thirty but stayed in bed being lazy.
-
Now if I'm to jog must do so.
-
It's Saturday, and rather than sleeping in, I helped a friend at his booth at the Farmer's Market. SO, now I'm going to take a nap. Because I can.

I got that is was about your grandmother, not your sister and that obviously your sister doesn't love it like you do. It really sounds to me like your grandmother confused which one of you loved it.

Ditto & Ditto on DR Kevin's comment. I'm looking forward to see the photo of you.

feel better DR Cillaliz. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sherlock had a restless night, which means so did we. All was better when we took him for a hike. He was able to greet a few dogs, see a horse, and trot after a guy on his mountain bike.
We are taking each day one at a time.
-
Back from the jog and picking up some packages, including the complete series two of Wallander.

Home for a bit between events. Rehearsal for Grease was fun and went well. Tonight is the official opening of Annie which is going fine. Love the show and our cast and orchestra, but have been REALLY tired this week. Usually, tech week doesn't get to me with the long hours and such, but this time, it nearly killed me. So, tomorrow after the matinee, I plan to have dinner and crash. Tonight, a few of my pals from the cast and I will head over to the Four Seasons for a drink and whatever the DP decides to put in front of us. It'll be another late night. Ah, the joys of the theatre!
-
Condolences to Peggy's family from both of us
-
Jury duty was rather uneventful. The people officiating the room were quite funny in their prepared presentations, though.
And there was a movie which featured Diane Sawyer as part of the orientation..
-
The first day of jury duty, they gave us a 1-3/4 hour lunch break, so I was able to get together for lunch with a friend who works in the area.
-
Funniest shtick: We were in a voir dire room about to be questioned by the lawyers and the court official came in and said something like (I'm paraphrasing)
"You did such a good job as a jury pool that they settled the case before asking you a single selection question."
-
It was a looooong day at Toyland, and now I'm home. I'm very happy to be here.
I got two ROBERTA scores finished and scanned and looked over the new parts being generated for DEAREST ENEMY. I have several options on how to proceed with them. Next week I'll deal with it.

Except for the fatigue it sounds like you are enjoying yourself very much. :)

The brilliant actor Lou Liberatore [Tony nominee for his amazing performance in BURN THIS] was also on jury duty.
You could tell who the intense theater fans were, because when his name was announced in the general roll call, you could see some people quickly looking as he went into the jurors area.

What? To scare you all? (Sorry, not a fan, even if she is from Louisville.)
-
Well, I left the house this morning without my camera. I borrowed my friend's camera but her batteries died before the really pooch floats came by. So, we watch some dogs then went and had champagne, a margarita, lunch and a few other niceties in the afternoon.
-
Here are a few pix I did get. The guy in the back in part of Rey Feo's Fiesta court. They all have to wear the uniform during Fiesta:

Pretty in pink.

The parade was a benefit for a therapy program that takes animals to nursing homes, the home bound and the like. Anyone could parade with a pooch as long as they ponied up $20.

Page three!

well today we did some more looking at bathroom title as we need to replace the tub surround in the upstairs bath
it might be cheaper to just move
-
I was on jury duty several years ago and had the opportunity to write this summation in my jury notebook:
Mormon = Guilty. ;)
-
since tomorrow the Vixter is turning NINETEEN we are have a small Vixfamily celebration at a local Japanese hibachi steak restaurant
-
It was warm and not all of the dogs were happy with the lengthy parade. One fell at my friend's feet. Thankfully, all of the owners brought water with them and the people with parties along the parade route also brought water out to them.

What is it with people and poodles. It's one thing to dress up a dog, but two pet owners decided to dye their dog's hair multiple colors. And both were poodles.

tomorrow after church (Vixter is the assigned assisting minister) we will be taking the vixgrandparents to brunch as they declined to join us tonight "at a restaurant where they ruin perfectly good steak by chopping it in small pieces and serving it with rice"

Rey Feo sitting in a classic Cadillac convertible with a pooch that didn't parade.

I was going to spend the day reading because i have a lot of books from the library. But my nieces showed up at 10am and only left at 5pm (they did call ahead).
So i am going to go read now!
-
time to get ready for dinner
-
And she's no dog. Yours truly with Fiesta royalty, though I can't recall what she's exactly princess of:

Congrats to you on surviving her first 19 years. And an early happy to the Vixter.

vixmom, it would be good luck if you hit your 20,000 millstone on vixter's 19th, wouldn't it?

Saturday morning greetings! We're having some down time today. Mom is still sleeping and I'm trying to be quiet. This is the actual 50th wedding that we'll celebrate tomorrow. I remember my first time. :D

Actually, it was the first time that TAO did Cannibal! The Musical! in 2006. We had drag queen Indians instead of Japanese Indians (like it was done in the original movie). I had done drag before, but my legs had always been covered up, so I never had to worry about it. This time, I got some Spanx and we were given some fishnet stockings. We were quite fetching...if I do say so myself. ;)

In this picture, you can see my fishnets:

LOL George. I'm sure they didn't make you feel grown up like they did for me. I remember my first pair of heels that went with the stockings. After going to a nice restaurant with my family we decided to go to a movie. I thought I looked at least my age and the theater would not let me in as a child. I was disappointed when my father chuckled at me & purchased the under 12 ticket.
Years later I was still paying for a child's ticket until Keith & I began dating. He was too embarrassed & honorable to do it. ;D
-
Great pix, George. Looks like fun.
-
Well, I'm off to get some dinner and then sit down to this paper that won't write itself.
-
Great pix, George. Looks like fun.
Thanks, it was!
-
Well, I must be off. I'm working concessions for a performance by the Olympia Chamber Orchestra.
Be back later.

My sister and I had a delightful afternoon, lunching at Applebee's and then shopping a bit. Mom and niece Laura (her only granddaughter) had a nice visit and picnic lunch here in our hotel room. We've just returned from dinner at La Fajita - my sister and her husband, their son and daughter, son's girlfriend, and Mom and me. We're all looking forward to the reception tomorrow between church services and a lunch out with even more extended family.
-

Because I probably won't be on line until later in the day tomorrow - happy 19th birthday to DR The Vixter!!!

Thank you, DR Jane - that's very sweet!

Has anybody heard of a book due out mid-may called Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein?
It's supposed to be sort of a YA/historical book (do those two mix?). I wasn't sure if it sounded like something I'd like. But it's been getting a lot of praise. Today netgalley sent an autoapprove for the ebook. I was still unsure. But then I checked my friends list on goodsread and one of my favorite YA authors absolutely loved it. And since I think she is amazing I asked for it on netgalley (should be on my kindle now).
-
Dinner of sauteed cod, zucchini with green garlic, mushrooms with olive salad and cole slaw quite nice. I think I need another nap.

It looks good. I don't see an eBook. I'll watch for your report on it.
-
I just watched last night's episode of GRIMM, which was based on the three billy goats gruff and the troll at the bridge. I think I'll get ready for bed.
-
My niece is picking us up for church at 8:45 in the morning. Mom has already crashed for the night and I'm not far behind.
'night!

'night

Congratulations to Ginny's sister for 50 years of Happily Ever After!
-
I got a few pages written tonight, but I'm unfocused and fading. Hopefully tomorrow.

Night, all.

Tonight, I worked concessions for a performance of the Olympia Chamber Orchestra, which featured Opera Pacifica (a local opera company) and selections from "La Traviata" in concert.
-
We didn't get much business...we were told that there were only about 40 tickets pre-sold. :-\
-
I think that about 100 showed up...a lot of the tickets were comps for family members.
-
Given all the theater activity tonight, I might as well report that I played pit piano in a "Bye Bye Birdie". It's an amateur production, so I am suitably embarrassed. I did it for the MOOney.
-
Well, well, well - I'm home very late after a very long STAGE benefit and what do I find? Our lowest posting day EVER for this board and so I'm going to just say this:
EDIT: I just deleted I wrote, but I think you can probably figure out what it was. Want this board to continue? That's the basic and simple question - or everyone can just play on Facebook, which is NOTHING like this board, but if that's what everyone wants, you are all welcome to it. Four pages and not even four complete pages does not cut the mustard or the mayo or the ketchup and I will not allow this board to trickle down into nothingness. Truly.
