I haven't been able to fall asleep yet tonight.
Laid in bed for 3 hours with no luck.
Will try again soon.
We discovered a growth on the hind leg of Missy, my border collie. She is 16 years old.
I was very worried, then the vet told us it was just a fatty tumor and to relax.
:)
And the word of the day is: OUBLIETTE!
BeeGee the dog has good taste in books, I hear.
It was a book I had acquired when I was working on my (aborted) Masters' thesis about the automatic writing by the wives of William Butler Yeats and Aleister Crowley. It was a very rare volume of Crowley writings and the few copies I've been able to find online are all for hundreds of dollars.
I am a huge history buff and enjoy reading about just about any era. I remember reading Barbara Tuchman's A Distant Mirror many years ago when I was staying with some hippified folks in San Francisco, and one of them picked up the book and skimmed through it and remarked, "I just don't get what this is about!" :)
Druxy, I have a question for you: do you think there's a market for a film editor to put together book trailers for self-published authors?
Oh my. I knew there was probably more McGlinn than I've been aware of. I treasure that SHOW BOAT. Must get the BRIGADOON.And the Broadway Showstoppers, if you don't have it, and the rest Elmore mentioned.

I think Showstoppers is my favorite, if only for Rebecca Luker leading the cast in "All the Things You Are."
DR Jrand61, please excuse the ignorance -- or forgetfulness, whichever it may be this morning -- but what's the show, and where?

I am exploring the same market.

There are too many non showstoppers on that recording for me!
I have MY cast....and it's a pretty good one.....and most of the conflicts are within the first two weeks, so I can live with most of them.
We will see....of course three of them have to miss the read thru tomorrow night....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
They've sold millions of them DR TCB....so I bet someone does!
I spent WAY too much money on eBay last night.
Yesterday, I managed to pass three kidney stones in a twelve-hour time frame. They were accompanied by the usual agony, moaning and groaning, and blood.

Enjoyed the photos and DR MBARNUM's bowling story....and the picture of Sherlock, of course.
DR JANE I have not seen the commercial again.....but I will keep looking.

Do you need a good film editor? ;D
I don't mind the Blythe Danner commercial. I have always said that I would watch Ms Danner read the phone book onstage, so this is an improvement. She is hardly the first actress to do these kinds of commercials. I think Sally Field was the first one that I remember.

Thanks, Jrand, you were very helpful.
Does anyone here own a Keurig coffee maker?
The good news is that summer has arrived. 8)

Oh no!!! Are you feeling better now?
Does anyone here own a Keurig coffee maker?
Yes. It's great if you only want one or two cups of coffee. Or if you and the person with whom you live like different kinds/strengths of coffee.
Yesterday, I managed to pass three kidney stones in a twelve-hour time frame. They were accompanied by the usual agony, moaning and groaning, and blood. That just makes me pale at the thought. My sister has to go back to the hospital Tuesday because they didn't get the second too-big-to-pass stone. We're all in a really mess with those ugly things.
Oh, dear, TCB. I must have missed the post where you said you had kidney stones.
That's the most important thing.Oh, dear, TCB. I must have missed the post where you said you had kidney stones.
Don't worry, Laura, I am fine now.

Let's talk about something else.

Oh sure, you want to talk about your play!

DR TCB, how terrible! How are you today?
I have left DR Ginny and Richard at the Yarn co.,

Poor Richard, you ditched him at the yarn store and call yourself his friend. ;)

It is a shame. I don't think any theaters out here do CURIOUS SAVAGE, except high schools. It is a lovely show.
I passed three kidney stones on the street - they were singing Glenda's Place from Whoop-Up.

I have left DR Ginny and Richard at the Yarn co., on Broadway around thecorner from my apartment. We had a lovely and liesurely lunch.DR FJL showed up around 2:45, which gave us time to catch up on the mutual friends and peccadilloes in my hometown. It was nice to see DR FJL and we had a great time. A photo was taken, DR JRand61.

I see that a North Carolina pastor has finally figured out a way to get rid of all us "figs." http://www.wcnc.com/news/local/NC-pastor-152424805.html
Kind of a scary man.
PS: DR Elmore, if you can build a fire escape in your part of the fenced-in electrified pen I will stay with you.

Aside from the fact this man is scary I have to wonder about his logic in thinking, if he could do this, it would really work.

I know. LOL! Even if gays died off in this penned off area, straights would just breed more of them, wouldn't they?
Of course, people like him do not usually consider logic.
I just finished watching THE WOMAN IN BLACK.Glad I didn't see it at the theater.
it's a well made film, but I think the story would have worked better as a half hour or even one hour TWILIGHT ZONE.
There's just not enough story there for a 90 minute movie.

DR Jane went to school with Susan, Chas, and several others of us got to know her quite well when she was a regular here at HHW.
No need to be sorry. I wasn't an HHWer when Susan was around, either. I wish I had known her. The memories the others shared were warm and wonderful. She sounds like she was a very special person.DR Jane went to school with Susan, Chas, and several others of us got to know her quite well when she was a regular here at HHW.
Oh sorry, I had no idea!
I saw the stage version over a decade ago. It was a lovely production (up here in CT) and actually scary.
Wanted to like the current film much more than I did, though I did mostly enjoy watching it. I thought the pandering to today's movie production tastes, and the gross overkill (not just overkill -- GROSS overkill) in the use of jump scares, shot it in the knees. I then ordered the British TV movie version and greatly enjoyed that.
Just watched "Beginning of the End" for what might very well have been my first time ever. What a hoot! I especially love movies like this which they didn't hesitate to place in a real, specifically named non-L.A. or California locale, this one being Chicago and the Joliet area. (I need to think of other examples.)
Stephenie Meyer had her own personal cast before all the roles were officially casted. They including Emily Browning as Bella Swan, Henry Cavill as Edward Cullen, Charlie Hunnam as Carlisle Cullen, Mary-Louise Parker as Esme Cullen, Rachael Leigh Cook as Alice Cullen, Trent Ford as Jasper Hale, Tom Welling as Emmett Cullen and Olivia Wilde as Rosalie Hale.
