Well, you've read the notes, the notes were calypso-esque, and now it is time for you to post until the calypso cows come home.

Good morning. all.

Had to get up early to gather and put the trash out.  Tried to fall back to sleep, failed, so will settle for a little make-up-sleep nap later.

CD:  Nothing yet.

DVD:  WHEN A STRANGER CALLS, which I posted last night was thrilling.

This evening some '70s Gordon:
FOOD OF THE GODS and EMPIRE OF THE ANTS... which I was astounded to see is scored by Dana Kaproff, two years prior to the above.

Good morning, all! The alarm went off at 6 and I slept in until 7:30. I awoke around 4 this morning and could not get back to sleep. I listened to the fans, I listened to the air conditioner, I tossed and turned, When I finally fell back to sleep, I dreamed that I was working on a production of "Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well . . . "

My day is centered on whether or not that blasted check arrives. If it does, I've got a tripto the bank and then to Staples to copy those vocal books. If it doesn't, I'm screwed until it hopefully arrives in tomorrow's post.  In either case, I've got to finish these notes for the EILEEN recording and submit them.

Speaking of weekend, friends and I had been thinking about going down to Coney Island to take in the Mermaid Parade, something we haven't done in several years.  But it's such a schlep, and SO crowded, that even though it always ends up being a lot of fun, I think we're just not up to it this time.  Someone got the bright idea that we should pay the fee to be judges, which gets you seats in the bleachers and no doubt other privileges--so who knows, maybe we'll plan more in advance and do that next year.  As for Coney itself, I haven't been there since they've, uh, "remodeled", but I'll pick some cool overcast weekday to drive down and take it in.  That can be quite enjoyable.

Question for the group: My friend Bonnie and I have this food website that's largely local to San Antonio. Should we take political ads? Except for food politics, we have stayed out of that arena. I know we have a politically mixed base of readers, so would suddenly running ads for candidates on either side of the issues be a problem?

I was wondering if you knew how many episodes had aired of Kathy.  It is on Friday nights here. And i saw what i think was the first episode (last friday or the friday before). I love her. But i didn't really enjoy the show (the way the guests were).

But i do love AC. And i do love AC with Kathy. I wonder if this will be our this friday's episode?

I know it's going up to about 90 again today, but my house was so thorougly cool and dry by last night that I turned the AC off...and thanks to a morning overcast, it's still comfortable.  Once the sun comes out and stays out, it'll have to be on again, but this has been a nice respite, with just a fan keeping the air moving around.

At some time between 11:30 and 1:15, the postman dropped off my  check with my mail. Quelle relief! The next hour and 13 minutes were a flurry of paying bill and writing checks, running to the bank, to another bank, to a postbox, to Staples and to McDonald for my first bit of food today. As I left the apartment, the threatened rain began as well.

The price Staples quoted me today was $228.00,so tomorrow morning I will pick up the copies, run them down to the McGlinnventory and bind them.  On Monday morning, I'll take them to be shipped.

Let me just say that page three will NOT do, especially as we now know that all of our Central Time and East Coast time dear readers like to be in bed by eight.

Facebook scares me.  there, I've said it.

;D

I'm a Facebook holdout.  I finally, reluctantly, set up an account for one specific use (communicating with people involved with the one high school reunion I'm going to -- in July), and I had a couple of experienced users help me set the thing up with every ounce of privacy possible.

So, it's almost as though I'm NOT a Facebook user.  One little purpose, that's it.  I'm not saying that'll never change.  And I'm probably missing out on a lot of interesting stuff that would do me no harm to keep up with.  But for now, that's it.  I neither Facebook, nor Tweet.  (I think there's a chorus in Handel's Messiah to that effect.)

If there are a lot of people on facebook with your name you might want to include a photo, or permit where you went to school.  Otherwise the chances of anyone finding you are very slim.

So, I have put my own recovery aside to do my posting duties.

While you set up a facebook page of your own in order to join the group you don't want anyone outside the group to find you.

On this note... I just had the Legally Blonde score scanned into a PDF at Office Max - $95!!!!!!!   I'm buying a good desktop scanner from the funds from this show.  Since I'm slowly transitioning from paper to PDF, it will be a good investment.  $95!!!!!!!!!

It looks like he will be going to Maryland to take one of the courses there and look for a place to live.  We will have to be back from L.A. before he leaves.

I will probably not be participating.  I have to user AND work concesstions tomorrow...fortunately, not at the same time.  My call time for ushering is $12:30 and for concessions, I need to be (back) there at 5:30.  They're also both at the same place, so there's no possibility of a problem with overlapping duties.  As usual, I don't know what the performances are.  I just say that I'm available and they assign me stuff to do. :)

Taking an intermission and going to Gelson's to rustle up a snack.  Had a frustrating lunch today - I had a total craving for an Islands Big Wave so I drove to Encino to have one.  Along the way they have totally ripped up Ventura Blvd. between Woodman and Beverly Glen - it's a disaster area and sickening and it all goes down to one lane and it rook fifteen bloody minutes to go a mile.  And it looks like it's been going on for weeks and that there is no end in sight (what else is new).  But I finally get to Islands, which I haven't been to in about eight months and what do I find?  Gone.  Closed.  Kaput.  Unbelievable.  Apparently a raise of rent was the culprit.  Sometimes owners of buildings are beyond stupid.  Now they have an empty building which will, I have no doubt, sit empty for years.  Bravo and I hope it sits empty forever.

Went to an olive orchard in the area for a dinner tonight. Beforehand, I saw this sweet calf getting a drink. She was interested in the camera,  but not enough to make her give up her milk snack.

Back from Vancouver, BC and Belle Glades, FL, courtesy of the one and only Bert I. Gordon.

I don't know Islands, but what happened to BK is one of the scourges of my existence.  Or is it banes?  Do existences have scourges or banes?  I think mine has both.  And I can think of a few things I'd like many commercial property landlords to have.  We have lost so many good, irreplaceable things -- needlessly.
