And the word of the day is: GLUTCH!
I've developed a strong liking for peanut butter sandwiches. I used to eat peanut butter a lot when I was young but haven't had it for decades. I've now re-discovered it - but it's got to be Sun-Pat.
Doesn't anybody work for a living any more?
Good morning, all! I will shortly set off for Toyland. I have to meet thebuilding's electrician at 9am because we have a circuit that has gone dead, and my office has no working overhead lights. It died last June, and since the Institute had shut us down, no one cared. Now that we're taking over the lease, I want it fixed, since i plan to be here much of the time. I'll be glad to get all of the office crap out of my apartment and back downtown.
I tried to postpone this date today, since I must be home no later than 2 pm today, so he's got about 3-4 hours to find the problem.
So, I'm taking some work with me, along with a few CDs, and my cell phone. I need to call Jonathan Tunick and Rob Berman and check in on Joshie.
DR vixmom, I'm sorry about your current melancholy. I wish I could just open my wallet and hand you $1,000,000 and say "fix it." All I can offer my my sympathy, love and good wishes.
BK, I'll never post the names here. They could too seaily find what I think of them! Here are some initials:
2. On cast recording list? JC
3. On Forgotten musicals? JE
4. On Cast Recordings? KL~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Healthy, Safety, and Security Vibes to All DRs! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thursday morning greetings! This evening Richard and I are going to Cincinnati Opera's PORGY & BESS, with a library/bookstore/dinner stop on the way. Until it's time to leave, I'm going to putter a bit and then go to the Y.

Thank you to DRs Elmore, John G, and ChasSmith for the nice comments about our plans for this evening. With the heat wave we're having, I'm awfully glad the Cincinnati Opera no longer performs outdoors at the zoo!

They still did when I first went to the opera. Then I ushered at Music Hall for 3-4 seasons. That was fun.

And one last thing a big Happy Birthday to Mr. Mark Bakalor, the designer of this wonderful web site. :)

I never asked them.
The stage had no wing space and scene changes took forever.

Thanks for the reminder about SPACE CHILDREN releasing on DVD and Blu-ray...I forgot to order my copy.
Some here (well, probably no one here except JRAnd61) will remember my interview with SPACE CHILDREN star Peggy Webber in SCARLET STREET magazine some years back. She started out in radio and, in fact, is still very active in radio. A very nice lady.
Nap time!
DR Ginny, I believe my friend David Abell is conducting P&G tonight.
Well, I now know why JMK disappeared yesterday. Apparently he got offended by an e-mail I wrote, even though there was nothing in it meant offensively. Oh, well. e-mail "tone" is so difficult sometimes. I'd asked him for help in terms of doing a Portland signing, which he said he'd be glad to do. Hadn't heard anything in a month so I sent an e-mail asking if there was any news. His reply was that the two stores he'd contacted either weren't interested or hadn't gotten back to him. It was a tersely worded e-mail that I found a bit unfriendly, but again, e-mail tone is sometimes easy to misread. I replied that it would have been nice to know this information a few weeks ago - meaning I might have been able to do come up with a different plan. That e-mail response seems to have upset him, although I certainly meant nothing by it. He wrote back that he'd only heard the final "no" the day before. And that was it until I got a rather scathing e-mail from his wife. I've responded to that in what is hopefully an even-keeled manner, and I'm hopeful it will all blow over and that he'll be back. Color me baffled sometimes, really.
Nap time!

A very good Cincinnati joke.
Bruce Kimmel Someone on a musical theater Facebook paged threatened someone's life? That's a little extreme.

I've gone through a peanut butter renaissance in the past couple of years. Current favorite is Smuckers Natural, creamy. It's the jellies, jams and preserves that are my downfall.

Ditto and ditto.
Even if JMK has an issue with me, which he shouldn't, he should not abandon this board - this board is not about me. But what do I know about people?
In the new issue of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, they rcommend 50 great films youshould know. Three of my faves, COLD COMFORT FARM, THE DAY TRIPPERS, and THE REF, are on it.

Just watched a delightful Twilight Time DVD I'd been saving till the mood struck --Never saw that version.
STAGECOACH -- the 1966 remake with Ann-Margret, Bob Cummings, Bing Crosby, and a host of other good people. Score by Jerry Goldsmith. Delightful all the way.

Well, I just found out that my aunt, who is supposed to be visiting from California this weekend, has actually been here since Tuesday! No one told me that she got here on Tuesday! Anyway, I'm leaving work now and going to my parents' house to visit my aunt, the nun. Yes, she's a nun...and she's a kick in the pants. :D
Be back later!
Sorry I haven't been posting much today. My lower back has been really bothering me the last two days. I finally just gave up and went to bed. Nicky decided that he needed cookies and that I needed a bottle of water. So, I got up and now I am going back to bed.

Listening to yet another upcoming Kritzerland project. A favorite composer who will be making his full-length score debut on Kritzerland - and this release is historic for another reason, too.
Jane says hello and for everyone to post.
Finally the prodigal George returns home.
