Well, you've read the notes, the notes were gay and carefree, and now it is time for you to post until the cows in the band come home.

Last night's rehearsal for "Titus" went quite well...they used the real fake blood for the first time (a couple of characters get their throats cut and so far, they've been using water to make sure that it works...it does, but not as well as they'd like).

Anyway, during the rehearsal, I got a call from a friend who (had to leave a message which) said that according to the local paper (and a LOT of Facebook posts) a mutual friend of ours has been missing since Sunday night! :o Here's the article:

http://www.theolympian.com/2012/07/24/2184411/artistic-director-for-olympias.html

He's the resident musical director for Capital Playhouse and I've known him since we met during the very first show that I did in Olympia in 1989.  I hope that he's found and and soon and well!

Good morning, all! I had planned on getting up around 7am, and set the alarm for that time, but at 6:00, I was ready to go. I'm groggy, still on my first cup of coffee, and debating my schedule this morning:
    1.  bank
    2.  office
    3.  cry
This is the first of what will be several long days trying to get the space into workable shape and dealing with clutter from McGlinn's life that the estate should dumped, or sent off, before the move ever happened: the movers delivered about sixlarg cartons of breakable things from McGlinn's apartment, like mirrors, framed objects, etc. that haven't been examined since they left his apartment in 2009. This is ridiculous. By now they should be with the Library of Congress, Salvation Army store, antiques dealer or garbage, but not taking up space in an office and music preparation company! We have little work room because of the unnecessary detritus. It's time to write a rather testy email.

My goal for the next couple of days is to get my office, which is the one current area of sanity (oy!)  into a workable space before I tackle the next room. Curtis is back in town on Thursday, so I hope that he and I can at least get some of the cartons of books and paper to their correct region of the office. I cancelled my order for two 4-foot long folding tables; there is currently no space for them.

DR George, I am sorry to read about your friend! I hope he is found and safe.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Positive Vibes for DR George's friend, for vixmom's friend Stef, for cillaliz and TCB, and for one and all in this middle of the week! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, again!
Greetings from DC's Historic - and currently under renovation and repair - Union Station!
My brother, Don, went ahead and decided to bring me into DC and drop me off right at Union Station! -He NEVER drives into DC!! I had originally planned just to get dropped off at the Vienna Metro station, and take the trains in from there. Since the rush hour had yet to go into full "rush", it was a relatively trip into DC. In fact, I'm here a full 90 minutes ahead of the time I had originally planned. Thankfully, Amtrak has wifi in the station now. In any case...
Thank You, Don!
"Let us now praise famous men." The latest edition of Agee's poetry includes the lyrics he wrote for the Bernstein-Hellman CANDIDE before he either dropped out, or was dropped out, of the production team.
Good morning, from what looks to be one of those perfect summer days dropped by accident into a string of extreme ones in some way or other on either side.  Sunny, clear, high of 82.  If I don't take this opportunity to at least mow this thing I call a "lawn", I'll regret it later.
We had a line of intense thunderstorms pass through yesterday evening in which most of the rain and thunder and lightning missed my area, but the sky and winds were the second most beautiful example of a healing cool front I've ever experienced.  I don't even have the vocabulary to describe it, that's how unique and "awesome" and welcoming it was.  Within half an hour we went from a 90+ degree A/C lockdown to a windows-flung-wide-open one that is heavenly even now.
And now... Trenton...
And once I'm back in NYC in a few hours, I think I'm going to take my newish bike out for a spin in Central Park. It's a gorgeous day! And then tonight I'm seeing Bring It On. I saw the show when it opened in L.A. last fall, and it will be nice to see how it has changed. Apparently, there's a new opening as well as three new songs.
...Then A Letter to Harvey Milk at NYMF tomorrow night, Into the Woods starring What If?'s costumer designer, Amy Adams, ;) next Monday, and Dogfight next Wednesday. -Playing catch up!
And this weekend, I somehow got wrangled - and happily so - into playing for some wedding festivities for some Broadway folk. Should be a great time, and I think I'll actually get to experience Julia Murney's pancakes! -That's not a euphemism.
Speaking of the AC, I just got the electric bill I've been dreading because of how much we've had to run it this summer.
June 20 - July 23, 33-day billing period:  $289.  For comparison, last month's $155 is pretty typical for the moderate months.  Looking back, however, this one is only a few, uh (what are those things again?) "kWh" higher than same period last year.
And so it goes.
In case no one's heard, we had a jolt this morning. It's been reported as a 3.7 magnitude quake. I had trouble falling asleep last night, then the quake hit about 3:20, and I was unable to go back to sleep. I kept expecting after-shocks. No damage that I'm aware of. It was centered not far off Marina del Rey (not far from me).  But this kid does not function well on only 3 hours sleep!
My website co-hosted a forum last night that featured 10 panelists talking about the state of food in San Antonio. It was called 5-Minute Food Revolutions and each person had five minutes to talk about what they're doing. We had a heritage pork rancher, a free-range chicken rancher, an olive oil producer, chefs and a woman who helps start community gardens. About 100 people showed up, which is better than anyone expected. Now, there's talk of a second to keep the discussion going and growing.
Fun, but exhausting. That's my lack of sleep story.
DR George, I am sorry to read about your friend! I hope he is found and safe.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Positive Vibes for DR George's friend, for vixmom's friend Stef, for cillaliz and TCB, and for one and all in this middle of the week! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks, Larry and Jose and Ginny and JRand and Jennifer and ChasSmith and Kerry and John G. and TCB and Jeanne!  Yes, Troy has found!  Someone on Facebook posted this from the website of the Unitarian church where Troy is music director:

Quote
I received a message about 6:30 this morning that Troy is SAFE. He had some type of medical event and ended up blacking out and sleeping in the woods for 2 days. He woke up this morning and called Denise Livingston – he is now at St Peter’s Hospital being checked out for medical causes. Please hold off trying to contact him this morning as his family will need to have some time with him. I have contacted Arthur so he has the news. Thanks to ALL of you for your faith and your prayers. I will send out an update later today once we know more. Thanks again!!

BK:  Mundane question, but should I be concerned that I haven't received a copy of "There's Mel" ordered two weeks ago?  Previous items have gotten here so blazingly fast, that, in light of other USPS madness, I thought it might be prudent to ask.  Hate bothering you with a question like this!

Laundry is now done. On "wasted" days my fall-back is to try to do the laundry. At least something gets done, and I can do laundry while seriously muddled.

I'm up.  It took me a LONG time - didn't fall asleep till almost three and just before I did there was a minor little earthquake - nothing to speak of but still.

I don't think BK would call what I felt "minor", but he's several miles away. I'm not surprised he didn't feel much.

TOD (remembered this time)

Ask BK:

When you were in NYC and I mentioned the HTF meet, you might have been joking around when you said you should get Robert Harris to join you in doing some kind of presentation... but I seriously think that would be the most wonderful thing ever.  One idea, very simply:  "Teach me how to see."  Show me how to better view and appreciate the good and bad in film-to-Blu-ray transfers.  Or, whatever.  Anything you came up with would be great, and certainly a highlight of MY week.  Might not be doable this time, but I feel strongly enough about it to ask... so there it is.

Unbelievable crap with the USPS.  For two days now I have been bounced here and there and everywhere, always apparently to the wrong people.  TODAY, I was finally told by the postal inspector that I had to now file a claim with the inspector general's office.  They're the ones who investigate theft that occurs within the post office facility - the postal inspector admitted to me that this is obviously a case of the postal person doing the stealing.  I had to go online and fill out a detailed complaint, which I did - NOW maybe we'll get some action.

I had a rough day today.  It was very busy with appointments and the usual fires to put out.  I don't know if it was going in and out of the heat or not having time for lunch, but this afternoon I was really feeling lousy.  My shoulder was hurting and I was feeling dizzy.  So I can home around 4:00.   I'm back in the AC (our heat index is still 102 today) and relaxing.  There is a chance of storms and rain for the first time in AGES so that would be a good thing.

I looked for an update from you before posting.  I was extremely relieved he has been found.

VIBES HE WILL BE OK!!!

Vibes for DR The Vixter's friend Stef and for DR John G's friend Carol.  Blood clots in your lungs are scary!

I still remember when my sister had them at 22.  Back then it was a very long recovery and they told her she couldn't risk another pregnancy.  I'm not sure if that was only because of the clot or because it happened a week after the birth of her baby.

In case no one's heard, we had a jolt this morning. It's been reported as a 3.7 magnitude quake. I had trouble falling asleep last night, then the quake hit about 3:20, and I was unable to go back to sleep. I kept expecting after-shocks. No damage that I'm aware of. It was centered not far off Marina del Rey (not far from me).  But this kid does not function well on only 3 hours sleep!
  Yikes!  I'm glad that our ground doesn't shake.  I don't think I would like that.

Well, apparently we've got an epidemic on our hands here at the City of Studio post office.  It seems dear reader ChasSmith's book is still sitting there and has been since July 13, along with at least one other package we know of.  It will be interesting to see if and when it shows up at the sort facility in Santa Clarita, and if the packages are then sent on empty.  I have added these two packages and their tracking numbers to a new complaint with the inspector general.  If they're smart, they will now monitor that facility carefully and maybe even put an undercover person there.

No, this week has been scheduled for several weeks and we are definitely on the brink of being behind.  Today was the worst schedule-wise and heat wise. It was the third day in a row over well over 100 heat index and I was in and out a number of times. The best news is the temperature has dropped over 15 degrees in the past couple hours.  I haven't seen rain in my neighborhood yet, but there are storms in the area.  I can actually open the windows for the cats.

What do you do in PT?  When I initially went for my shoulder the therapist did most of the work & torture, moving my arm and shoulder into positions.  Slowly I did more exercises on my own.

Here's hoping DR George's friend is found safe and sound!

Thanks, Danise!  He's been found and it looks like he's well.

And now, I'm off to the theater.  Tonight is our last rehearsal without an audience...and the first night that I'll be running the sounds and slides without Marko, who created them...AND the first night in the actual tech booth.  That will be different.

Be back later! ;D

It is mostly leg and foot stretches.  Each excercise a little different.  I don't she has ever done very much of the work, other thn the upper body pushes that we do.  She does most of the excercises along with me, but, of course, it easier for her than it is me.  And it is a lot easier for me to do them with my right leg, than with my left.  She said I am doing very well.   One day at a time.

The fact you are doing them on your own is excellent. :)

Cilla, I am glad that you came home a little early.  It was probably what you needed to do.  Keep drinking water.  It will give you an excuse for getting up in the night to check the weather.
LOL!   Actually, I didn't drink much water today.  Days like today are always draining.  It's pretty much all consultations with prospective clients and errands in between because there isn't really time to do any real work between appointments.  Tomorrow is more of an office day.  A lot more relaxing than today

Thanks Jane, Ginny and Danise....I came home and drank water and had a little food.  I do feel better.

I'm glad you feel better.  I doubt you will go without food or water, for awhile anyway. ;)

You should be carrying water with you at all times.  It is too easy to get dehydrated in weather like this even if you are staying inside most of the time.

VIBES YOU KEEP ON TOP OF YOUR WORK!!!

thanks for the vibes.  Carrying water doesn't work in a lot of the places I have to go.  No drinks allowed

I now have four books to read from the library.  It seems to be feast or famine with them.

And I have four books on CD from the library  in at the same time. I'm hoping to finish "The Book Thief" first, which is a fine young adult novel. Anybody read it?

Watching "A Dangerous Method." Keira Knightley keeps jutting out her underbite. It looks like the jawbone of an ass. And a bad accent to boot. This one is going to be fun.

Just finished the last of the Beck movies of the first two box sets, episodes 1 - 7.  Excellent, but completely annoying - Beck reveals to someone that he's in love with them.  At the end of the episode, one is anxious to find out how that someone will finally respond - the someone offers him a ride home and says, "and on the way, we'll talk." Fade out, end.  The only problem is that what they talk about is revealed in episode eight.  That's fine except episode eight is not available on video.  The next available set, a pricey Swedish import that does have subtitles i episodes 12 - 16.

I've been E&T tonight, adding a cable to my system to get the 3-D functioning the way it should, which I thought would be just that one little thing, a five-minute job.  Ha!!  I should know by now that there's no such thing as "just one thing" to be done.  Because that one innocent little thing requires something else to be done.  And another, until it's time to test functionality every which way -- and before you know it, you've just killed an entire evening adding a cable which did, originally, take only five minutes.  I think I've got it, but until I can revisit it in the cold light of day, I shall refrain from exclaiming "By George!" (no offense, DR George).

I did a two and a half mile jog - it felt good.  I've had a couple of telephonic conversations, and I've been doing a little planning for our two-year anniversary show, The Songs That Got Away - songs I've recorded but haven't been able to fit into any of our Kritzerland shows.  One thing that's a done deal: a reunion segment for Ruthless! with little Lindsay Ridgeway (now all grown up) and Joan Ryan.  That's the kind of thing I'm trying to do with this show.

DR Matthew - I like Dear Edwina, Jr. (and not Jr.) too. I had a blast working on a special production of it a few years ago with Marcy and Zina.

We are having a good time with the show.  It's quite fun.  I miss some of the "non-Jr." songs like R.S.V.P. though

And I'm home.  Good day.  2 good runs of Dear Edwina Jr and a good rehearsal for Legally Blonde.  Lots of vocals to be learned in a few weeks.  12 days until we leave for Munich.  It's going by quickly

I met Leslie Odom Jr. backstage after 'Leap Of Faith'...he was so gracious, charming, and sweet...I was very impressed.
Not to mention how insanely talented the guy is....he has a very bright future!
