Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the way they were, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently singing the Marvin Hamlisch classic, The MOOsic and the Mirror from A Cowrus Line.
-
And the word of the day is: ORETIC!
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR der Brucer!! ;D
-
Happy Birthday to errant and truant DR Der Brucer!!!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
We used fans last night but we slept without the AC (that's Air Conditioning, not Anderson Cooper).
They are talking rain today.
We shall see.
-
Happy Birthday to Dear Der Brucer!!!!! I miss you!!!
I'm sorry I missed DR Dakota! I was just so tired last night I went to bed super early.
But I feel better for it today.
Vibes to all who need them!
Have a wonder filled day!
-
Happy B Day to DR Der Brucer
-
Good morning, all.
Happy birthday, der Brucer!
I don't really want my eyes open, but I can't sleep any more. There's something in the air that I'm allergic to. Oh, it could be air.
I got up before sunrise, was treated to the sight of a tidy amount of stars in the skies. Very pretty.
-
Good Morning To All
The infection I've been fighting after more than weeks is almost gone. I hope by the weekend it will be gone
-
That's great news, Mike.
Infection-free vibes for you and all in need.

FJL, in response to your question last night, that was the day the publisher set for the release of the whole series. I think 25 cities around the country had their Food Lovers' books debut yesterday. My friend and colleague, Bonnie, and I went out to a Mexican seafood place for a small celebration and some spectacular guacamole.
BK, thanks for asking me to post the amazon link.

Marvin Hamlisch's The Way We Were (with the Bergman's) is in my top ten of Academy Award Winning. It is a perfect main title song that sets up the story without giving away the plot. The music is reused as underscore at key moments and the song is reprised at the end of the film to wrap up the story of Katie and Hubbell and having Mrs. James Brolin singing the song you could not have gone wrong.

Happy der Brucer Day!!!!!!

Good morning, all.
Could well have used another hour or two of sleep, but it's going to be a crazy few days here, with a wholly unplanned but very much desired project... repaving the driveway.
The oldest part of it will get repaved, and on the newer half they'll fill the cracks and broken bits and put a seal coat on it. That part's 18 years old, and the older part is of unknown age, but probably 30+ years. It's a long winding hilly driveway (actually I don't even know how long -- a few hundred feet at least), the bad part of which has been more difficult to keep passable with every passing winter. A family-run paving company made several of us offers that were pretty hard to turn down, and we're all going for it even though it's a huge unplanned expense. But not as huge as it could be, and the improvements will be immeasurable.
I typed all of that on my first cup of coffee. Is it readable? Time for a refill.
-
Good morning, all! I slept well until around 4:00am, at which point I had a flight-recording-travel panic attack and was wide awake for about 45 minutes before I went back to sleep.
So, my schedule for today has gone haywire. While I know that the AC men are not shwing up, I do not know if the elevator repair men are showing up. I have to deal with a problem with my wonderful super, who is taking this elevator situation personally. If the maintenance crew doesn't come in, I don't blame him, but he's taking my anger over the situation all very personally and that's bullshit.
Hopefully, the check from the Man From Philadelphia will arrive in today's mail so I can deposit it, pay the bills, and have travel money. At 5:30, i meet the producer of the Appalachian Christmas show for coffee andto learn the plan of attackfor the fall.

Don't get me started on my laptop notebook. HP has fallen from my list of preferred computer makers. They want me to send the damn notebook to them (at my expense) and they promise to fix it and send it back (at no charge) in about ten days. How I, in my wheelchair and not able to drive, am going to get the damn thing to Fed Ex is beyond me.

Today I get to go see my regular doctor. He has not seen me since the dramatic weight loss. He is always telling me to go on a diet, so I will blame him for it.

DR TCB, call Fed Ex. If you are paying for the shipment with a credit card, they should come and pick it up from you.

Has anyone ever heard of the Jager iOsonic Toothbrush Kit? Amazon wants me to buy one with their Groupon-style sale for $74.00, instead of $229.00. I have never heard of the brand.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I slept 'til after 9am, so I'm a little groggy. Have an early afternoon appointment at the senior center to learn to use their computer system in my volunteer work as grants researcher and writer.

Okay, I guess I will try that. First, I have to find someway to get down behind my desk, unplug the monitor from the computer, and try plugging it into my notebook comptuer to see if that works.

Indeed!

Okay gang, two-thirds of the way to Page Three!
-
59 Guests, but only one on this page.
-
I walked the three flights to the street - so I could then use the service entrance to the basement - with all of the portable garbage and recyclables I could carry. As I got to the front door, I ran into an elevator service man! This bodes good.
-
And I spoke to my super. I think all is now good.

Something like that, DR TCB! Actually, I'm volunteering to do what I used to get paid to teach others to do

DR Elmore, hope your elevator issue is fixed, pronto. In my apartment building we have two elevators, so if one goes out there is always a spare. Of course it doesn't take more then a day for the repair men to come...not as many elevators in Salem as in NYC.
-
Happy Birthday, E&T DR der Brucer, wherever you are.
And a shout-out to former DR S. Woody White, too!

The thing about Marvin Hamlisch's Oscars is that he hit the trifecta (so to speak).
He won for "The Sting" (adaptation), and "The Way We Were" (score and song) in the same year. All three Oscars! In one year.
-
According to AOL. skimping on sleep is one of the signs of Bipolar Disorder. I thought it was a sign that you are watching too much of the Olympics!

DR Laura, I have apparently done something right this summer. My parsley plant has been taken hostage by a couple of caterpillars. Any suggestions on what else I could do to attract some butterflies-to-be?
It's been a good time recently for the little critters out there. I have seen plenty of dragonflies back there and I just stood and watched a grasshopper the other day as he was eating away on one of my oregano plants. He was about 1 1/2 inches long, bright green and I couldn't help it, I just let him eat.

Send the dragonflies to us; we need to kill the mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus! It's been bad this year.

I might have seen one of those last night, too. The way the heat is killing the plants, I don't which would be worse.

I didn't know Imelda Staunton was married to the man who plays Carson on "Downton Abbey."

Hurray! You probably have black swallowtail caterpillars. They use parsley, dill, fennel, and I think Queen Anne's lace as a host plant where they lay their eggs.
I would recommend planting milkweed. There are several very pretty ones if you don't like the ones many folks consider "weeds." That will bring monarchs and queens. And all butterflies like to nectar on milkweed flowers.
If you can find passion vine (ask if it has been sprayed with insecticide), you should also attract gulf fritillaries if you have them in your area.
-
Arizona is dry enough most of the time that we don't really have many mosquitoes. But the ones we have are sick with West Nile. When we get our summer monsoon storms, the water puddles in things like old tires, old pots ... stuff like that ... where the water is stagnant. That's what mosquitoes lay their eggs in. Also, some people (like the neighbor across the street) let their pools turn green. That's a big source of mosquitoes for us.
-
John G., Texas is one of the big hotspots for monarchs during their fall migration. You should see them if you plant milkweed in your yard. I get them here, and we aren't the hot spot that you are!
-
DO you have a pond in your yard, John G.?
-
No. I just water my plants regularly, once or twice a day depending on how much energy I have. I also have the hummingbird feeder filled, which has attracted a few plus some other insects. I just keep wishing it will attract the bees to pollinate the blossoms on the pepper plants, the tomatillo and the rest, but I see everything but bees these days.

John G., I have a wolfberry in my backyard that draws a lot of bees (Lycium exsertum). I think it is native to Arizona, but I'll bet there are wolfberries that grow in Texas as well. I also have something called a superstition mallow (Abutilon palmeri) that draws bees as well.

John G., I have a wolfberry in my backyard that draws a lot of bees (Lycium exsertum). I think it is native to Arizona, but I'll bet there are wolfberries that grow in Texas as well. I also have something called a superstition mallow...........
Formerly known as the Marsh mallow.

Energy vibes for MR BK.
Great news about your elevator DR ELMORE.
Not to mention his big cushion.

Yes, that was it. It looks great, John G. Very excited to have the book.

Finally finished with the second set of liner notes and attendant credits and track titles.

Happy Birthday to DR derBrucer!

I am back from midtown. I have a new collection of folksongs, courtesy of our producer, and a lovely press kit for CHRISTMAS UP THE HOLLER, containing a CD and a DVD!

Very nice, Jack!
It is. I didn't have time to look, or comment, earlier.
-
I have dusted & cleaned everywhere I could reach in Craig's bedroom & bathroom. As I cleaned the hair moved from one place to the other. I believe Yogi left me a gift that will keep on giving for awhile. It will likely take a few rounds of cleaning to get it all. I want to move all the furniture out and have the carpet cleaned.
-
Empty Nest vibes to DR Jane!
-
Thanks DR TCB. I do need them. Working today tired me which helped some.
-
We used fans last night but we slept without the AC (that's Air Conditioning, not Anderson Cooper).
They are talking rain today.
We shall see.
You probably wouldn't have slept if the AC had been Anderson Cooper.
I have noticed that over the last several weeks, we have made frequent references to the extremely attractive AC (not air conditioner). I hope that these comments have not gotten back to the WSMA, who is still #1 to me (and Kevin ;D).

Tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM the demolition project will begin. Keith said it will take 5 days to remove everything.

Made a blueberry grunt tonight (that's a dessert, not a set-up for a joke). The house is filled with the intoxicating aroma of freshly grated nutmeg. I'm gonna have to run out for some vanilla ice cream for this one.
-
In honor of Dustin Hoffman's 75th birthday, I think I'm gonna watch "The Graduate" tonight.

I have a client trying to get her interview set up at the consulate. It's closed due to the flooding.

I know. :(
Every time I nuzzled Kitty I was reminded why I shouldn't get a cat, plus the darn kitty litter that bothers me too.

I gotta say, all the cleaning & laundry I've done today, why do I want that hair again!!

Richard and I went to the Y together late this afternoon and now we're settled in for tonight's Olympics coverage.

Good Morning To All
The infection I've been fighting after more than weeks is almost gone. I hope by the weekend it will be gone
Great news!!
BE WELL BY THE WEEKEND VIBES!
Ditto!

Go ahead, TCB, and joke away.

I gotta say, all the cleaning & laundry I've done today, why do I want that hair again!!
Because you love those little creatures who might otherwise be put to death.

No, that's okay.

G'night!
-
!!!!!!!!!! The elevator is back in service !!!!!!!!!!
I just carted the garbage to the basement.
You know how I feel about swearing but I have to say that it's about DAMN time. I was really starting to get ticked off about it. Honest--I was thinking about who could I send an email to in NY who could help with it. The mayor, the news, whoever. Now about that AC........
-
Don't go yet DR TCB~ I wanted to tell you that I've been getting tweets from your account but I don't think they are from you!
-

Yes! I know we won't be able to see Craig too soon unless he can meet us in Cleveland. Now that I have a better idea of his work & school schedule, I doubt it. I hope at least one of them will be able to go to their cousin's wedding this January or February, whenever it is. Craig said unless it includes a holiday Monday he doubts it. Of course if he doesn't replace his missing passport he isn't going since it will be out of the country.
-
I answered the first one, thinking it was from you so I'm hoping I'm not sending tweets that are not from me.
-
I gotta tell you.

There is a wonderful cat rescue group in California I'm on facebook with, The Main Coon Adoptions that have cats like this one:

-
I'm soooo tempted.
-
Trying to watch a motion picture but am not enjoying it that much and will move on to something else.
-
Most of their cats are not pure Main Coon, she is exceptional.
-
And in other news--Mr. Turner was arrested Monday on Grand Theft Charges along with working without a contractor license. How's that for Karma?
-
Don't go yet DR TCB~ I wanted to tell you that I've been getting tweets from your account but I don't think they are from you!
I've been getting those, too...
-

Karma he created.
Why is it Grand Theft vs some other charge?
-
No, DR Jane, you do NOT want that cat. Think of the hair and all the fuss and bother they are.
-
I gotta say, all the cleaning & laundry I've done today, why do I want that hair again!!
Because what's under the hair is so darned loveable!

He must have taken someones money. I don't know the whole story. Just saw the arrest record after someone else alerted me to it.

I can't help but wonder if he's in the cell next door to his brother, Mike, who is still in jail from beating that old lady up.
-
DR Jane, grand theft could include theft by deception, or other things. The level of theft is usually determined by the amount of loss

Jane, I think you should get a homely cow cat like Joshie.

Things seem to be looking up for both DR Danise and DR Elmore!

Well, i could use some vibes for that damned check. If it doesn't show in tomorrow's mail, I'm not going to Dublin.
The Man from Philadelphia is a good person, but he's a total asshole about paying on deadlines. He's known since last week when I submitted th invoice that I needed the check before I left.
-
Thanks for the encouragement DR Danise. Of course your argument for the hair is nothing compared to a BIG dog. ;)

Maybe not that much hair. My shoulder wouldn't like all that brushing movement. ;)

That was a bit long even for me though I like it. I've had short haired cats & find the fur more bothersome than long haired cats, at least when it gets into my eyes.

Short haired cats need just as much brushing, thing is none of my short haired cats liked to be brushed. Bogie used to love to be brushed.

To Craig certainly.

'night

Ricky is in love with the brush. If I say "Who wants brushing?" he'll come running full speed from anywhere in the house. It's hilarious. Boo didn't like to be brushed until she saw Ricky getting all the attention, now she likes it too. Callie likes to be brushed when she wants to be brushed but only when she wants to be brushed.
-
Check vibes for Elmore -- and for the rest of us! I mean, who doesn't like getting checks?
-
THAT DARN CHECK!
sounds like a musical
-
Joshie didn't choose me. He growled at me. He was feral. It took quite a while before he decided he adored me.
-
I must say in regard to your book, John G, it's been a very nice experience so far.
Not sure how long Amazon post takes, but just submitted there.
-
More damned check vibes!
Ditto!
-
I'm simply using the same "I don't want any more dogs!" logic that I used on my Mother. That was BB (before Bear).
I was looking at the court records. Yep. There is a brand new case filed against Mr. T. I shall check that page many, many times and I shall laugh and laugh and laugh.
'Night all!
-
Check vibes for Elmore -- and for the rest of us! I mean, who doesn't like getting checks?
I don't know. Some people seem to duck getting the check at a restaurant, I've noticed.

I just had an unexpected hour nap. Who knew?

A bouncy one, at that.
-
"The Graduate" was the right choice for tonight. I remember the famous scenes and of course the soundtrack, but I had forgotten just how well-made the whole thing is.
-
Night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing. The days here have been unbearable, heat-wise, with temperatures into the hundreds. A bit cooler in the evenings.
-
Long day here, in which nothing actually got done, notably any driveway repaving. It took them a full day longer than expected to do the long one next door. Tomorrow, hopefully, mine and one other neighbor's will get half done, and be completed on Friday.
Now you all are up to date on that.
-
Finished with my viewing. The days here have been unbearable, heat-wise, with temperatures into the hundreds. A bit cooler in the evenings.
I hear ya. I think it was 116 here today. Ugh.
I was in the LA area over the weekend, and it was really very very nice.

And you didn't call and you didn't see the Kritzerland show?
-
Good Evening!
I'm up, I'm up... And I think I still have a couple of functioning brain cells left.
-
We had a good first day of rehearsal yesterday. And we had a good second day of rehearsal today...
I had just forgotten how exhausting - especially mentally - to "speed" teach a new show to a new cast in 14 hours...
Whew!
I shall attempt to catch up a little bit tonight - a.k.a. now - but I have a feeling I may just do so in the morning. I'm taking advantage of my jet lag and heading to bed "early" and waking up "early" here.
Laters...
-
I flew in and out for meetings. It was very quick.
-
Sleep well, Jose. I am so glad to have you back!

Although, I do have to say...well, I don't have to, but I'm going to (and DON'T TELL ANYONE!)...the scuttlebutt that I've heard from others is that Samantha is quite jealous of the attention that Priscilla has been getting...and has been quite vocal about it. ::)
-
Once again we have the wacky occurrence of the disappearing GUESTS - there are five left, to be exact. We haven't had five GUESTS in three years. Something is screwy in Denmark and rotten in Altuna.

But you didn't hear that from me!
