Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no juice, and not it is time for you to post until the juiced cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ALIMENT!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning all! I enjoyed my day yesterday. I did some cooking, cleaning and watching movies that I don't have time to on the weekend.
Vibes to everyone who needs them--I do feel bad for those who will face Isacc.
Not looking forward to going to work. Yuck.
Have a wonder filled day all!

I'd mentioned that by totally bizarre coincidence (now has nothing to do with then) this lawyer Jeffrey whose back in our lives these days was someone I'd totally by coincidence dated back in the 1980s.
My mom called late last night. She's had a nagging feeling (mom and nagging in the same sentence, what are the odds?), and sure enough in a shoebox she'd packed up when they'd closed up the New York place in October is video of Jeffrey with our family, though my dad isn't there so we're wondering if it was while my dad was in the hospital, because there would be no other reason for my dad not to be at a family party. Nothing unusual that a family gathering's on video for us even back then, it was just it the back of her mind that as she was putting stuff away in October that something had been labeled about my friend Jeffrey. She's trying to figure out how to get a copy to me, but I don't want her to hurt the original. Totally unrelated, not sure i even want to see it. Mom says she can't tell from the video if I was even really out to the family at that point.

THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD

So busy at work. I'm looking forward to a half-day Friday and a trip to Long Island for the Labor Day weekend.
-
Whew!!
-
Hmmmm......yesterday was quite busy.....although I was certainly NOT as busy as others on this here site - because I only have my business and NOT a job to do as well....
Lunch was nice AND both rehearsals went well.....although our "Jack Benny" is not being very "Jack Benny".....maybe he just needs a refresher course......WELL..... Since I am playing "Mel Blanc" selling shoelaces.....and I can't do Bugs Bunny OR the Spanish guy....I decided to do Elmer Fudd....which was pretty funny.....or at least everyone was laughing to be polite.
AND Act One went well....so we shall see about ACT TWO tonight. I shall make my first appearance in my underwear.....

DR DtM - The House on Green Apple Road was a murder mystery..... Miss Janet Leigh was terrific. It was a flashback where the secret life of a housewife was exposed... One of my favorite actors....whose career went nowhere.... Mr Burr DeBenning was featured in it......

Good morning, all! I stayed up to watch GRIMM and didn't get to bed before 11:30. I am quite tired and planning my trip to Toyland. I think I will bus down: 104 to Lincoln Center and the 7 to 27th Street. It will be another rainy day.
DR JohnG, I like Andrew Davies' work a lot but he didn't do well with his THREE MUSKETEERS, which is amazingly bad, or A ROOM WITH A VIEW, which added a stupid postlude.
I have nothing else to report for now.

TOD:
I love the OSS 117 French films with Jean DuJardin....especially the first one Cairo: Nest of Spies.... So funny.
Hmmmm.....TOD:
Thunderball
I shall be interested to see some other titles today....that will jog my memory.
-
I will need my memory jogged, too. In fact, it already has been, as I shamelessly crib off of DR Doug R's sheet with THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD.
And, let's just get it out there: all of the 1960s James Bond, including the George Lazenby ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE.
-
And: Good morning, all.
Coffee!
-
It's mornig alright-- I checked.
-
Thanks for the confirmation DR KERRY.
-
Duly noted.

PBS American Masters is going to be after you for that clip, DR JRand62.
-
If anyone else would like to have the 1936 James Whale SHOW BOAT, either to keep or to watch and pass on to someone else, my test DVD-R is perfectly watchable and I will be happy to send it out.
(I would offer to burn additional copies from it, but in my experience such copies have been unreliable in comparison to those recorded in real time from the source.)
-
Good morning, all.
Work vibes for DR Danise and anyone else in need.
Elmore, I, too, love most everything Andrew Davies has done ("Daniel Deronda" and "He Knew He Was Right" perhaps being my favorites. But "A Room" was just so unnecessary and the ending was possibly worse than you led me to believe, if that is possible.
Whew.

LOL, JRand, I have done that with my new camera a couple of times as well! :D

I am partial to those Italian spy films of the 1960s, especially ones starring Ken Clark or Rodd Dana (aka Robert Mark).

Tuesday morning greetings! It's a beautiful day here in SW Ohio - perfect for the homecoming of our Olympic champion in judo, Kayla Harrison. There's a parade downtown this evening, after she spends the afternoon with students at Middletown High School.

I hope so, DR MBarnum. It will depend on how hot it is and how much work Richard gets done on his paper today.

Two!
-
Quiet around here this morning.
-
Greetings from Toyland! I had two pleasant bus trips and I am here for about the next 90 minutes.
Tomorrow, I will stay home: the AC repairmen are arriving at some point to fix or bear away my air conditioner.
-
hello, goodbye
-
I gots nothing
-
And that would be plenty'o nothin'
-
What about your mule, Matthew? What about your song?
-
I am reviewing my Act Two lines for this evening.....they have not changed since last week.....even though I keep looking at the book.
-
So busy at work. I'm looking forward to a half-day Friday and a trip to Long Island for the Labor Day weekend.
I don't think I will go to work on Friday. In fact, Thursday is pretty doubtful, as well!

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I believe I've finally caught up on my sleep... And I think my jet lag finally kicked in... A week late. ???

As for the Topic of the Day...

And the word of the day is: ALIMENT!
And The Song Of The Day Is: FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD

And now...
I need to head out for a bit of food, and then take a trip up to my storage unit to pull some things. And then, most likely, an afternoon nap.
Laters...

I could use some food, glorious food, right about now.

Yes DR BEN.....that was from the Youth Theatre Workshop and it has a Madonna song on it.....so it was blocked.
It was from my CD that I bought and paid for....but I guess WMG figured that they need more performance rights $$$ if it was going to be displayed on YouTube for about 43 viewers - or less.

Very cute exchange on that other site:
Person 1: Carolee Carmello is way too old to play Aimee Semple McPherson, who was only 35 when her disappearance (the central story of Scandalous") occurred. Carolee's only a couple of years younger than Aimee was when she died.
Person 2: Honey, the fact they are breaking out in song might lead you to understand it's not a documentary.

Most projects have unexpected expenses. For us it was the section of the deck that was rotting. Apparently an enclosed (underneath) deck needs air holes for ventilation, which our deck didn't have. For the last several days they have been working on this. I was surprised how much of the deck was pulled up.

Apparently when building concrete steps a base is built first reducing the amount of concrete needed. Such as this:

That wasn't the case with our front steps which were all concrete. The top step was about 3' deep.

Next thing you'll be saying, FJL, is that John Adams didn't sing and that Leon Czolgosz never sang with Sara Jane Moore, John Wilkes Booth and Charles J. Guiteau.

It wasn't easy for them to remove the steps or break them up. It was very interesting watching them do it, especially when it looked like the steps were being eaten.

Thanks DR Jrand.
The tree guys, who are doing a wonderful job, had to leave for an emergency. A cotton tree fell on a house. I commented there isn't even any wind today. Apparently if you have a cotton tree near your house you are very foolish as they are delicate trees and fall over easily.

Good Afternoon!
Errands completed.
Lunched consumed.
Coffee now being sipped.
Cookie being nibbled.

When I went up to my storage unit earlier, I realized I had left my electronic access card in my other bag at the apartment. Thankfully, Gina at the front desk very kindly "keyed" me in, and I was able to fetch some of the music I needed: various collections of vocal duets by Brahms, Fauré, Schumann and Rossini. -And, thankfully, I only had to move one set of boxes to get to them.
-
Then it was back down to Columbus Circle for lunch at Landmarc. I tried their "Smoked Tuna" Sandwich. It was good - basically a tuna salad sandwich made with, well, smoked tuna. However, the true treat came when the check was presented: their amazing housemade caramels. And they were from a freshly made batch! Sooooo good. I normally save one or two to take with me for later, but I ended up all six. :)
-
Then I dropped off the music at my friend's studio near Carnegie Hall. She's hosting an "Art Song Jam" tonight at The Gershwin Hotel. I'm hoping to go tonight, but I'm on standby right now to help another friend with a project. However, it should be a fun event, and from the RSVP list on Facebook, it looks like some very good singers are showing up to sing a lot of different types of songs.

Is anything Kritzerland-ish scheduled for late October?
I'm flying to L.A. Friday Oct. 19, tentatively returning Saturday Oct. 27, but wanted to check with you before finalizing that. I think your shows are always on Sundays (?) and I'm tied up with the HTF folks on Sunday the 21st, but I MIGHT be able to swing sticking around if there was to be one on the 28th. That, or anything going on, please advise. Hotel will be the Marriott Burbank Airport.

Then why did I get mine before either one of you?
Because you are older than God!

Tonight's feature is an old favorite from college days: "Cannery Row" with Debra Winger and Nick Nolte. I hope the movie holds up. I think I saw it about eight or 10 times back in the days when cable was young.

Here's the huge crowd that gathered on Middletown's city plaza to honor Olympic champion Kayla Harrison:

And we needed one more American flag, so this guy dropped in with one:

That's nice, Ginny. Glad to see her -- or any of our Olympiads -- so honored.
-
Cool how they did the flag.

The festivities for Kayla Harrison were great! Richard and I stood in front of the Middletown Arts Center and watched the parade go by, then walked over to a shady spot on the plaza to wait for its arrival and the ceremony. There were too many politicians, many of whom had no idea how to speak into a microphone. It was hard to hear a lot of them. Kayla was presented with many gifts, including an AK Steel hardhat, swag from Miami University and Cincinnati State, a key to the city, etc. The Middletown Community Foundation has established a scholarship in her name with a corpus of $10,000. The big surprise of the evening was the appearance of Middletown's only other Olympic champion, basketball player Jerry Lucas, who presented Kayla a huge bouquet of red, white, and blue flowers.

Here are students from the elementary school that Kayla attended leading the Pledge of Allegiance (http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=4167511598119). The one right in the middle, who's about a beat behind the rest of the group, is the daughter of my friend Suzy. Kayla high-fived each of them afterwards.
We also figured that she was a student there when Richard was teaching gifted math and science in another wing of the same building.

I love Harry's hat!
Don't you have one just like it?
He's so cute!

BK:
Is anything Kritzerland-ish scheduled for late October?
I'm flying to L.A. Friday Oct. 19, tentatively returning Saturday Oct. 27, but wanted to check with you before finalizing that. I think your shows are always on Sundays (?) and I'm tied up with the HTF folks on Sunday the 21st, but I MIGHT be able to swing sticking around if there was to be one on the 28th. That, or anything going on, please advise. Hotel will be the Marriott Burbank Airport.
The October show is the first Sunday of the month, as is the November show. But we can certainly put together a little dinner event while you're here.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
I'm still feeling way too tired - don't really know why - maybe another good night's sleep will finally do the trick.
-
Don't feel like watching anything else and I've done all the work I feel like doing, so I guess I'll just relax and play and listen to music.
-
Well, I'm not gifted with BK's way of describing film transfers, but I have to say that the transfer of "Cannery Row" was a major disappointment. When I saw the movie in the theaters, twice, it dripped with the brightest, wettest red I can remember in a movie. It was as if the whole thing had been painted in the glow of red neon. The DVD is all sepia and golden light, as if it had an intentional nostalgic look. The movie still entertains, but visually it's just not the same.

soo tired

Today was our primary election. I voted for one person. I voted against several, though.
-
You've already undone your vacation, Vixmom?
-
Six!
-
Six! Darn, too late.
-
Off to bed. Good night, all.
-
Good night, John.
-
I just relaxed over some good chips, some 94-proof Elijah Craig, and HIGH SCHOOL HELLCATS, all of which turned out to be just what the doctor ordered. A great AIP motion picture ... with score by Ronald Stein! Thank you, DR MBarnum.

I'm home. Legally Blonde is going well. We get on stage for the first time tomorrow. One step closer....
