Good morning all.  I have been in touch with Ty, the producer from the AC show.  Angie had told me yesterday that they want channel 28 news to do another story on me and I told Ty that no one stepped forward the first time they ran the 3 stories on me way back when.

Since everything is done for free, there isn't much I can say or do.  I don't understand why Lowes declined.  The guy who came here was so nice and made a long list of things.  I guess the big companies aren't that big.

Thank's for the tweets and posts to Lowes.

Hope all are well.  Vibes to all!

Have a wonder filled day.

Good morning, all! Yesterday was a lousy day; I was feeling under the weather and fighting a sore throat, I had to deal with estimated taxes, nothing's happening with the AC repair at Toyland, and I really bungled a relationship I never intended to damage. So last night, by 8:30, I decided I'd done more than enough damage to my character, my health, and the world, and went to bed. I slept fitfully and I kept getting cramps in my legs, but I did sleep in until 7:30 this morning.

So, today I have to putter about the apartment. I have some work on the Appalachian piece, and at 1:00 I a meeting a young tenor from North Carolina trying to get work in opera and/or musical theatre. I am meeting him at the request of Aine Mulvey, who plays Biddy Flynn on the EILEEN recording and Caroline on DEAREST ENEMY.  After that, we'll see what fresh hell the day brings.

I did discover that I missed a phone message yesterday. The AC repair company with my apartment wants to know when they can deliver my new AC. They suggested tomorrow, but I will be out with the Actor's Fund matinee of THE BOOK OF MORMON, which I look forward to seeing.  So, I'll call them and reschedule that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vibes to better days for all of us! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning, all.
It's a stressful time for a lot of people.  I see it in many places.  I've got too much going on this week, or this month, or this month and next month, or it seems that way because I'm not as prepared on some things as I should be.  This week is stressful because I'm involved in the wedding of my two closest friends and we'll all be in upstate NY for that from Friday through Sunday.  It'll be a good time, but I have to admit I'll be happy to see it transition into the past, like MR BK's Tuesday.
VIBES of peace and contentment to all, and pardon me if I help myself to a few of those as I pass the bowl around.
BK, I saw THE SOUND & THE FURY for the first time about six months ago.  I've long been intriqued by it ever since I saw previews for it in the theatre when I was a kid and saw Yul Brynner with hair.  As you say, it's not very good, but fun in a 50's trashy way (THE LONG HOT SUMMER...a mishmash of a couple of Faulkner stories is a much better film).  As I was watching the film, the Alex North score kept haunting me...I knew I had heard the main theme somewhere before.  Then it finally hit me, The Platters had a single of it.
I need to get THE LONG HOT SUMMER now because I've only ever caught bits of it on TV.  When watching SOUND AND THE FURY the other night I was thrilled to find it's essentially the same people.  Like I said, I had such a great time with it that it inspires me to actually try reading some Faulkner.  I do think the score is exceptional, and I was blown away by the "teen-age" (going on 30?) Joanne Woodward and, well, everyone.  Hollywood trash at its finest.
Tonight is a run thru before opening tomorrow night.
Last night had some tense moments between the assistant director and the light operator......of course the AD is doing some Stage Manager duties, since we don't have one.....
And it was not a pleasant thing.....oh well.....
Good morning, all.
Traffic was so bad this morning that it took 1:20 to get to work. Ugh. Not even a good book  on CD, "Moonwalking with Einstein," helped.
So, traffic jam-free vibes for all.
The cheap compatible inks I bought for my Epson printer turned out to be incompatible so I bought a pack of genuine Epson inks today. The pack contained a large plastic security device which can only be removed using some sort of mechanical gadget. The check-out assistant couldn't remove it so I was told to go to the Customer Service counter for them to remove it. After waiting in line, the two Customer Service assistants couldn't remove it either so they asked if I would mind if they cut open the plastic packaging and cut out the security device. No problem I said because I'll be opening it as soon as I get back home anyway. They then handed the package to someone else who was equipped with a pair of scissors and therefore fully qualified for the job and, with difficulty, he finally removed the device. They made sure they wrote on my receipt that the inks had been opened in the store to remove the security device just in case I came back with it for a refund. Purchasing goods can be so complicated.........
OK, so, what role would you cast him in? Che in "Evita" as Ricky Martin's matinee replacement?
Joseph Pulitzer in "Newsies"?
Annie?
George in "Sunday in the Park ..."?
I am debating defrosting the refrigerator, which is dying, but it has to be accomplished this week.
John, I'd put four of the songs that were written by Skip for the musical of TIME AND AGAIN up on YouTube
(These are sort of teaser versions, not the way they'd be heard if things ever get worked out and - hope, hope - the stars evr align so taht  the proper recording Skip and BK have talked about can get done.)
Link to "Fairy Tale Life" demo sung by Rebecca Luker & "1880's New Yorkers" - I think this is among Bk's favorites of Skip's songs!
I got up at ten after a very good night's sleep.  I immediately had to deal with a second e-mail from the "person" who wrote the irritating e-mail from two days ago.  Lord how I hate attitude, but I'm very good about giving it back, but doing so in a completely even-keeled and straightforward way, which is exactly what I did.  I suggested to the "person" that if he sent me one more adversarial e-mail it would be deposited directly into the trash with no further e-mails read.  My response was worded carefully and nicely, but very strong in what it was actually saying.  I then had to have a conversation with someone about all of it, and that was good and even if I get further e-mails from the creep, I won't be dealing with them from here on in unless they are worded in a way that's acceptable to me.
After that, I received a funny e-mail from an overseas customer who'd specifically bought the second edition of Follies because he wanted it as a collector.  He got it, but it was the first edition.  That made no sense to me, so I asked the helper what was up, and she told me all of the second editions she's been sending out have the original limitation line.  That was news to me, since I'd approved the new inlay card and the designer had approved the film.  I called the pressing plant and they confirmed that they'd used the new version that was sent to them.  I called the printer and found out that despite the approvals of the new film, they accidentally used the old version.  Unbelievable.  They are now printing the second edition inlay and it will go to the pressing plant, who will then unpackage all the CDs they have and repackage with the new inlay card.  We've not shipped all that many, so the majority will say second edition.
Checking out the new DVD releases of Malayalam language films. This one certainly looks entertaining. Don't know what it is about, but it does star my favorite south Indian actor, Prithviraj.
I was just thinking that in his last movie, that he was getting rather pudgy. Guess he must have been noticing that also  ;)
Just checked and the film is about a former stunt man who rejoins films when he finds out his best friend has cancer.
It was a nice day for a taxi ride to JFK, and a perfect day for a flight from JFK to IAD. On paper, the flight was supposed to take just under two hours. However, since the actual flight time was only 43 minutes, we ended up landing 30 minutes early. :)
Alas, my brother was not able to pick me up from Dulles...
He's currently at the hospital with my niece, Alexandra. She apparently had an adverse reaction to one of her treatments, medications. Apparently, it's a "normal" reaction, but they've had to admit her for at least 48 hours so that she can be monitored. My brother will be home in about an hour. I'll go see her in the morning.
And today, I had a brainstorm for the tenor role in the Appalachian Christmas piece, but he's busy.
DR ChasSmith, if you'd like to come in for the reading on the 24th, please let me know.
Thanks, DR George, but I actually like this person and would not deliberately harm them for anything in the world. But I really did blow it yesterday and that's all I can say.
I watched it on-line.  I enjoyed it...it'll be interesting to see where they go with the stories and how long it'll last.
Did I mention I finished proofing "Willie theWeeper" yesterday? It was endless. All that's left is "The Eccentricites of DavyCrockett," which I'll begn tomorrow. This Ballet Balad has one of my alltime fsvorite Jerome Moross ballads, "Ridin' on the Breeze," which might be a good number for Guy Haines.
Alas, my brother was not able to pick me up from Dulles...
He's currently at the hospital with my niece, Alexandra. She apparently had an adverse reaction to one of her treatments, medications. Apparently, it's a "normal" reaction, but they've had to admit her for at least 48 hours so that she can be monitored. My brother will be home in about an hour. I'll go see her in the morning.
I am rereading Jack Finney's  TIME AND AGAIN, which I last read in 1979. I really loved the book, but I have forgotten nearly everything about it except for the Statue of Liberty.
Was the score for the musical ever recorded?
John, I'd put four of the songs that were written by Skip for the musical of TIME AND AGAIN up on YouTube
(These are sort of teaser versions, not the way they'd be heard if things ever get worked out and - hope, hope - the stars evr align so taht  the proper recording Skip and BK have talked about can get done.)
Link to "Fairy Tale Life" demo sung by Rebecca Luker & "1880's New Yorkers" - I think this is among Bk's favorites of Skip's songs!
Link to "Time and Time Again" - demo as sung by David Carroll & Janie Smulyan
Link to "Who Would Have Thought It?" sung by Donna Murphy at In Celebration of Life concert, this is the "concept video" we did*
Link to "Welcome To Our World" - demo sung by Maggi-Meg Reed and Maureen Silliman & Janie Smulyan
*we'd also done an "It  Gets Better" version of the WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT Donna Murphy rendition
What about a Kickstarter event?  I hear (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mischief/man-with-a-load-of-mischief-lets-bring-it-back) that it can (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/679271860/the-first-nudie-musical-film-restoration-project) be successful (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/484701422/bd-wong-live-concert-recording-of-the-musical-herr). ::)
In any case...
I think I'm just going to "chill" and relax tonight, and then head out tomorrow morning to take care of some pre-vacation preparations. Hopefully, I'll be able to get everything done by 3:00pm - I'm leaving plenty of time to compensate for the DC-area traffic - and then chill and relax tomorrow night. And maybe even start checking out some of my sightseeing options for Boston and Seattle. Although, I think I'm just going to play everything by ear once I get to each city on my loop.
elmore - "Bonnie" is played by a very delicious friend of ours, and recall she's not the writer or director of the ad, just the actress convincingly doing what the part called for -and she's also the wonderfully charming person in both real life and in the current Advair commercial, among so many others..
I rode the bike for an hour and 10 minutes today. After I showered, we had dinner then we watched Northanger Abbey, a PBS production from 2007. I have the book on my reader I haven't read it yet) but we watched it anyway. We enjoyed it.
We found The Naked Civil Servant at the library (w/John Hurt) We will most likely watch that tomorrow.
Mata Hari with Greta Garbo, Ramon Novarro and Lionel Barrymore is "in transit" (on my reserve list) at the library so I should have it tomorrow or Friday and we will watch it over the weekend.
