Great.  Don't do anything to your avatar - that's on the to-do list in terms of making it bigger - unless you just want a new avatar.

One big problem right off the bat and we're addressing it right now - if you log out, it will make you enter your info again - in other words it's not remembering.  They're figuring it out right now and it should be fixed in a few minutes hopefully.

We're hoping they can fix the avatar size problem - they have all the information.  Can one of you log out and see if it saved your information or is requiring you to log-in again?

I tried clicking on "next", thinking there might be a next page, but it gave me the previous page, ie, last night's. When I clicked on "previous" it gave me a page from 2008. But my first post went through just fine.

Yes, next would only apply if we were on page two, and if we were on page two and you used previous it would take you back to page one.

BK has five red squares above his post count. Red, I assume, because he's the site administrator. The rest of us, so far, have yellow squares. We're all hero members. Other colors for non-heroes?

Not sure about the colors.  BTW, I have created under Technical Support a topic at the very top (where it will always remain) to report any problems you're having.  That way I can send the tech right there to read about them.

Here's my review

Quote
Adriana's on the Case Again and Boy am I Glad She Is!, May 30, 2013

This review is from: Murder at the School Musical (Hardcover)

Murder at the High School musical, the latest installment in the Adriana Hofstetter mystery series is truly a delight. Adriana once again finds herself in the middle of a mystery and isn't going to be happy until it's solved. This time one of the stars in the school musical, The Music Man, disappears and no one has a clue what happened to her. You're in for a great ride as Adriana chases down leads and searches for the answers. For those who haven't read any other books in the series, Adriana is a quirky modern day Nancy Drew who you just can't help but love. Bruce Kimmel does a great job of telling the Adriana mystery tales without the sex and bad language found in so many books these days. It's a great read for everyone from junior high through adult. Whether you loved Nancy Drew or read all of "The Cat Who....." You'll love Adriana Hofstetter mysteries. I highly recommend them all.

Notes are there - try doing as Cilla did - go to the site via its regular address, then try clicking from here - as soon as you have the current and new site, everything will work perfectly.  You'll notice on the main page on this board, places to discuss each of the Hofstetter books, the memoirs, and then under Nudie Musical a place to discuss Outside the Box.  I'll add my other books tonight.  And a reminder - if you're having ANY technical issues on the board that you can't figure out yourself, post them in the Technical Support board under the first topic there.

Today is my friend Paul's 65th birthday.  We had cake this afternoon. He's going to have a party later in the summer so it was fairly low key.

Happy 65th to Paul!

This is really turning out to be a GREAT year!   New kitchen, new septic tank, new HHW Board and maybe soon a new place and washer and drier.

New place or a new place to put your washer and dryer?  Either way, this is terrific!!!!

  Ditto!

Thank you.  I'm looking forward to our celebration with the friend who was there at the beginning.  Keith used to pick him up and then the two of them would go hang out at my parent's.  Eventually Keith picked me up first and then we went to get our friend. :)

I had chicken tenders for lunch and also picked up some packages.  Rehearsal this morning was way too rough for my taste - not the singers' fault this time - our MD needs a bit more time with the music, methinks - I'm sure it will all be fine come Saturday.

But surely it shouldn't take me back to 2008.

And don't call me, Shirley!

I thought that was optional.  Now I have to call Keith for help-lol

Jane, unless you're on a Mac, about which I know nothing, you should be able to just hit F5 and that will refresh your browser.

It will?  Why didn't I ever know about that?

First I want to saw I like the new look very much. Right now I am listening to the radio show. However I also wanted to read the notes and listen to the show at the same time, but when I clicked on the archive button to get today's notes, it disconnects the show. Is it possible to perhaps have the radio show open in a new window so we can peruse the site without having to open a new window ourselves?

Please be specific.  Where do you go after you post.  You should end up right back where you were and see the post you just made.  Is that not happening.  I believe that function was made universal and that I would have heard about it had that not been the case.

Of course, the easiest way to do what Shayne is proposing, is to play the radio show, open a NEW WINDOW and go back to the site and read the notes in the second window - problem solved.

It's never ever been like that - you're always taken to the last post, which is the one you just made.  That hasn't changed on this board.

That said, you should look in your look and layout or preferences and see if there's something to check there that would allow that, although all I know is on the old board you were never taken back to a post you quoted unless it was just the post prior to your most recent.

It's under "Forum Stats" and says "Users Online" - seems pretty simple.  Again, this new board doesn't seem to have the option we used to have to see who's online in a specific topic - that used to be at the top of the page, but having just looked at all the board preferences, that one is no longer there.

Very nice Cilla!!

I think you both misunderstood - I was talking about a problem we had when first testing the new board - when you'd post you were automatically taken back to the LIST of posts, in other words, not kept in the topic at all.  We found you had to check something for you to remain within the topic and then we found the way to make that check universal for everyone so no one would have to do that.

Title: Re: EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN ALMOST

Captcha is when someone tries to register, they now have to type in a series of numbers and letters that appear on the registration page.  Most spambots can't do it and therefore most of the spam registrations disappear - and boy have they.

Chas, as regards the "new" thing - can you try something - on the list of topics you'll see a button at the top that says "mark read" - click on it and see if that takes away the "new" buttons on all the old topics.  My concern is that it will also take it away for the current one, but try it and you can always click it back to unread.

Mikey, I love your new gown!

But it kind of clashes with my shiny party hat.

So you will have to settle for a gladiator who is colorblind.

Yes!  It worked!  And I would assume that new posts will re-display it in this thread and future ones.

I have to say, this all happened much faster than I could have hoped for - I was stressing all day about it so when they called to say we'd gone live around three-thirty, I literally jumped for joy.  And I will have much fun writing tonight's notes.

I'm thinking about a second jog, since I just ate three ounces of almonds - I never do that but that's what I felt like for my snack and all I'd eaten were the chicken tenders and they were no more than seven or eight hundred calories and I'd jogged off at least two hundred of those.

Captcha is when someone tries to register, they now have to type in a series of numbers and letters that appear on the registration page.  Most spambots can't do it and therefore most of the spam registrations disappear - and boy have they.

Ahhh, okay.  Now I know what you mean.

Here's something I never noticed before - on the home page of the board, if there's a new post on any of the boards, be it Daily Discussions, Technical Support, The BK Books, etc. the little triangle thing with the line through it to the left of each board suddenly is dark instead of grayed out.  So, easy to tell which boards have new posts.  And I encourage posts in the book board and the outside the box board.

Very nice Cilla!!

Thank you

Birthday greetings for Paul.  I am glad you two are back being good friends.

We've been friends too long not to get over things.  We kind of have a truce of sorts.  We don't talk about politics at all. It really helps

They just interviewed on the news this priest from Bremerton (west of Seattle) who has very outrageous theories regarding what causes homosexuality.  He has written this letter to his parish in regards to the Boy Scouts allowing gay youth to become members.  The worst part isn't so much these opinions (I have heard them before), but rather the fact that is not an old priest, but a young and very handsome man.  He is going to open his own version of Boy Scouts, minus those gay youth.  A very closed mind.

Today I got a call from the lawn service that used to spray my yard for bugs, fertilizer, weeds etc.  I cancelled a couple years ago when cutting expenses.  The owner called today with the saddest voice and asked if they had done something wrong to upset me.  LOL, I said no.  Truthfully I had been considering calling him to get it started again as my yard needs help.  He gave me a really good deal, so I took him up on it.

I was planning to go to a meeting and a CLE in Omaha tomorrow.  Then I started thinking about it.  I don't really care about meeting with the immigration lawyers.  It's good to see each other, but I'm not really in the mood. The CLE is showing federal criminal lawyers what an immigration hearing looks like and showing immigration lawyers what a federal hearing looks like.  Been there done that.   So, I'm going to catch up on some things at the office, maybe clean out my desk or just whatever I feel like doing

Of course, the easiest way to do what Shayne is proposing, is to play the radio show, open a NEW WINDOW and go back to the site and read the notes in the second window - problem solved.

You can also right-click on the link and choose, "Open Link in New Tab" or "Open Link in New Window."

The notes are ready to go - I don't actually see a way to change the date so I'll post just after midnight - and then tomorrow I'll ask how one changes the date so I can post early as I do when I'm out of town, but it shows up as the next day because I manually change it to do so. I'm sure it's easy and there somewhere.
