Well, you've read the notes, the notes were dastardly, and now it is time for you to post until the dastardly cows come home.

I really enjoyed meeting DR Doug.  We ate at an Italian restaurant near my hotel in Kings Cross.  It's always nice meeting fellow HHWs in different locations!

Just finished this recently, a fun read by the author of Moose Murders, which has the distinction of being one of the worst-reviewed one-night Broadway flops ever. The author lays most of the blame on... Eve Arden.

If you pursue it, I recommend reading the play itself first. The behind-the-scenes account makes more sense that way.

I had a bad case of food poisoning that landed me in the hospital for several days and the lingering effects of it lasted for 1 1/2 years. I went through many tests, some twice, and never found any cause for the problems I was having.

I think this afternoon is when I'll go see Baz Luhrmann's THE GREAT GATSBY.  I have low expectations.  Actually, zero expectations.  But it's one of those things I can't quite NOT see.  Also, I figure if you're going to see something so ridiculously outrageous (actually, I think in this case, it's outrageously ridiculous), you should go all the way, and that's why I'll see it in 3D.

I am SO glad these things don't cost me anything.  It pays to have a manager friend.  I even get my complimentary popcorn and Coke Zero handed to me on a silver platter.  Actually, I don't think the platter has all that much silver content in it.  In point of fact, it feels rather flimsy.  Have to ask about that when I'm there.

Good morning, all!

I hope you are feeling better, BK!

My plans to be at Toyland were demolished when a shipper sent me a notice that I had to be here to receive a package, so my Wednesday and Thursday schedules are no longer what I anticipated.

Last night was nothing but bizarre dreams. I remember bits of two involving Bernstein''s CANDIDE, one in which someone was trying to murder me, but there were more, and I am very happy to be out of bed.

So, who's this new DR everyone kept welcoming and never showed up? It was like watching a musical in a tv mystery where the camera swings to the spot where the star (who's been murdered) should be, and the orchestra keeps plays the entrance cue over and over. I like it.

VIBES and XYLOPHONES that BK is done heaving.

My own bouts with food poisoning -- the cases you KNOW are food poisoning because they're just so graphic and exciting -- have always hit me late at night, run throughout the night, and leave me as limp as a dishrag the following day.  But nausea is nausea, and I hate it almost worse than scary spiders.

Much as I love STRICTLY BALLROOM, I intensely dislike everything else he's directed. I will probably never see GATSBY. The last two films are more than enough.

I loved BALLROOM, too, when I finally watched it which was only a few months ago.

I remember originally liking the setting of ROMEO + [sic] JULIET but have no idea what I'd think of it now.  Have only seen a few clips from MOULIN ROUGE.  Never saw the BOHEME.  That wasn't even filmed, was it?

DR TCB, it wasn't me that suggested it was the browser people were using that was causing the time-outs. I think BK and his tech people said it. I was just asking what browsers people were using to see if they were all using the same one.

The Broadway version of LA BOHEME was not filmed, but the original production for Australian Opera was. For the opera, I prefer the Paris of the 1840s to the 1960s, but it has moments.

DR TCB, yes the suicide of the Bollywood actress Jiah Khan was very sad. She was only 25. Although she starred in three very popular movies, she hadn't worked in about 3 years and evidently her love life was in turmoil.

I wanted to get to sleep right after I posted the notes, but that was not to be because I made the mistake of trying to schedule them to post at 12:01.  They didn't.  Then I tried to undo the schedule and I couldn't so I had to redo from scratch.  then I posted and it had the wrong date, which made no sense since it was already 12:15 and I've been posting just after midnight and it's been fine up till now.  Then I changed the date manually and it reverted back to the previous day's notes and still showed the new notes as "scheduled".  Then I saw that according to when things were being posted that it was still the 4th and 23.14 which means that when the tech changed the clock to the proper time zone somehow it's an hour off.  I did the whole thing again and the new notes posted at 12:45 our time, even though it still said (and says) the 4th because the clock is off.  I left it that way and wrote several scathing e-mails about it to our tech and told him I'm never going through this again and that he had to call me the minute he walked in the door - so, filled with nausea and having eaten nothing all day and had nothing more liquid-wise that a couple of sips of 7-Up I went to bed and fell asleep after one.  And, of course, the doorbell rang at eight.

I think I find the place where the timeout issue might be addressed - according to what's checked in there, there should be no timeout for 2880 seconds, which is forty-eight minutes - obviously it's timing out after five.  But there's something else there that's not checked and we'll look at that when the tech gets in - it may help with the timeouts but I don't want to enable it without him on the phone with me.

Since I'm stuck home waiting for delivery, I decided I would do laundry and all hell is breaking loose at the laundromat. The Downy Fabric Softener people have taken over the place; there are decals all over the floors, every washer has a big Downy poster stuck to it facade, photographers are going crazy, the ratio of people is one customer to about five Downy ladies in white uniforms offering to do your laundry - and pay for it - for you. What they were not prepared for was my bad attitude about unsolicited favors and unwanted hoards.

It's timing out in less than five minutes, BK!

I'll post it at ToonScoop but if people click on it the file in your post it will probably download to their computer and they can listen to it that way also.

Ron, do you know what movie that's from? It sounds like Billie Burke but I doubt it's her.

So, no one did what the notes suggested and went to the "Now Playing" section to hear a sample track from the release we're about to announce?  Why even have those buttons on the left if we're not going to use them and check them out every so often?

What is your favorite Neil Simon play?
Which Neil Simon play was most successful as a film?

You didn't ask me, but I love THE SUNSHINE BOYS.

BK, I'm not being nitpicky...it was just an observation:  there is a list of available avatars but the new avatars don't show up there.  It's obviously from a different place than where the new avatars are going.  It would be nice to have them all in one list, but I am certainly happy with how the new board has turned out! ;D

Nausea is far worse than scary spiders.  I'm way too prone and have it way too often.  >:(

Druxy wrote a lovely review of the new book - perhaps some other dear readers who've just been sitting there like so much fish and not even going near it, will follow suit and read it :)

"In Bruce Kimmel's engaging new novel, MURDER AT THE SCHOOL MUSICAL, Adriana Hofstetter, the teenage sleuth of Hollywood High investigates the strange disappearance of an actress who is appearing in the school's production of THE MUSIC MAN. The cops are baffled, as is Adriana at first, but as she continues to interview the student cast of the musical and peruses the missing girl's Instagram site, she becomes convinced that the young actress is not a runaway, but possibly the victim of a unspeakable crime.

Adriana's patient mother, Margaret, her best friend, Billy, and detectives Ramirez and Coyne are back for this page-turning book, as is Patrick Bronstein, the elderly "B" movie producer whose every line evokes a laugh.

Like with the first four books of this series, Kimmel's witty writing style not only gives the reader a convincing view of high school life from the perspective of a teenager, but also a portrait of Hollywood today with a nod toward its nostalgic past."

I need to call my cousin Bruce and find out how his niece is doing.  Hollie and her family were in a serious accident over the holiday.  She broke her leg, near the knee, in 3 places and had to have surgery.  After 7 days in the hospital she mentioned on facebook she was home and that is when I found out about the accident.  Her mother was another family member of mine that succumbed to cancer.  The rest of the family had minor injuries.

Your descriptions of Furball's antics are absolutely uncanny.  They NEVER miss.  Does this come out of personal experience with cats?  Maybe I'm forgetting something from the memoirs, etc.?

Perhaps the photos were too large for our board, or too many in one post.  It's best to host that kind of stuff at photobucket or tiny pic, otherwise we'll find ourselves with a full upload folder in the not too distant future.

I think the problem is the way John linked the pictures from wherever he linked the from.  I just sent him the HHW Photobucket instructions.  Hopefully, they'll work with his pictures.

I think the workers are finally finishing up for the day - this has certainly been the noisiest of the days, and it's awful because the work they're doing right now is on the doors that lead out to the yard, so it's all basically close to where I sit at the computer.  I also must say the smell of all of it is not helping my queasiness.

Wednesday.

DR TCB the reason that there is an ensemble is twofold:

To sell tickets & to shut up the people who think it is our job to give their brats an opportunity to be onstage.....IN ADDITION TO THE TWO FREE WORKSHOPS we do every year.

I figured (after I had already posted) that might be the reason.  Aorund here, the problem seems to be finding anyone (even our spoiled youth) who is willing to do chorus.

I think this, because when I check my email and get notification that I have a private message here at HHW, the notification is from "adam@islandtechnologies.net" and I believe our newest member is "adamisland." Someone must have seen this name at the top of the page.

They would do your laundry AND pay for it?  Where is the downside to that?

I think that if you knew that was to be the case beforehand, you'd take them some CLEAN laundry to do, avoiding any possible chance of embarrassment.

Sunday is the last performance of "Cinder Edna" and we'll have to strike the set afterward.  Fortunately, the performance will end at about 3:00 and the strike shouldn't take five hours, so I'm sure that I'll be home by the time the left coast broadcast begins.  Even if I get home in time, I'll certainly be recording it!

Yes.  From what I have been told it was horrific and they are lucky to be alive.  The truck, along with the trailer it was pulling, were blow off the side of a ravine and rolled 3 times.  The father, my cousin's husband who was driving, is feeling terribly guilty he caused it.  His wife, my cousin, is lucky her knee wasn't broken along with the 3 other breaks.  It will be a few months before she can walk.  The son had a bad concussion but will be fine.  The daughter is in a neck brace with a broken vertebra & her boyfriend broke a couple of ribs & had a collapsed lung but will be fine.

The neighbors and friends have organized a personalized meal on wheels and offered other help to care for the family.

They would do your laundry AND pay for it?  Where is the downside to that?

I was wondering the same thing

Yes!  It's a wonderful picture, John!

The music excerpt is Henry Mancini. Not familiar with that piece. Elephant Walk Main Title is the most piece from the film.

Vibes and prayers for all involved.

If you're talking about the piece from our upcoming release - not Mr. Mancini - Mr. Franz Waxman.

I'm thinner now than in that photo.  I guess I'm getting better because part of me wants to eat some food (and part of me doesn't) - I do have some white rice I could make, or I could go out and get another order of poached eggs, which is very good for when you're just able to eat again.  I'm taking votes.

DR CHAS SMITH that is at Shapiro's Deli in Indy a few years ago when MR BK and DR CP came to town to see a local production of BRAINEX.  DR EVIL KURT and I took him to Shapiro's so he could see some Midwestern Jews....and they did not disappoint....I think MR BK is autographing a NUDIE MUSICAL photo for me....  I do not know why my salad is still wrapped in cellophane.  The blue comes from my trying to fix the color.....maybe I will try again someday.  >:(

Nice prom photo, by the way.

I didn't feel like going out to get the poached eggs, so I made the white rice instead and I ate it all up, so that's a good thing, I think.  I've had a couple of Saltines, too.  Hopefully by morning I'll be fine again.  I won't chance jogging until Friday or Saturday and I'll probably do poached eggs again.
