Well, you've read the notes, the notes have read you, you and the notes are one, one and the notes are you and now it is time to be one with the posts or, at the very least, be two with the posts.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but in about 900 posts from now we will be hitting a brand spanking new major landmark, posting-wise - that would be 60,000 posts.

I hope they find the car soon.  Your sis must be very upset.   More good vibes to her ~~~~~~~~~~.

Re: the Anthony Hopkins/Nicole Kidman movie THE HUMAN STAIN.

Well it wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't great.  It was sort of interesting though, and did keep my attention throughout (which is obviously a good thing).

Speaking of nudity, there was a fair amount of naked Nicole Kidman.

As I watched it, I couldn't help remembering DR Panni's "miscast" comments from last night.

It was weird, but Nicole was playing this slightly unattractive woman, who was lower class and wore little make-up.  She smoked a lot and was rather unappealing.

Put that with Anthony Hopkins, who looked to be 80 and they were a slightly odd couple.

And they had zero chemistry.  So getting to watch them have sex all the time, was not really that appealing (although obviously Nicole Kidman is beautiful, even when playing ugly).

There was one element that was very fascinating.  And a few things at the end that were interesting.  But I was unhappy with one development, that left me feeling very unsatisfied.

I barely remember hearing anything about this when it came out in the theatres.  But I can sort of understand why the video clerk was saying that "it was good, and interesting, just not great".

Happy Birthday, der Brucer!

I have been meaning to comment on DEAD RINGERS ever since BK first mentioned it days and days ago. I, too, have always thought it was a weak melodrama, badly acted and totally forgettable even with Bette Davis playing twins. However, I do think the split screen work featuring the two Davises was pretty wonderful.

In MOTHER GODDAM, Bette Davis wrote about loving Paul Henreid as a director, but I suspect that had more to do with Davis being able to order him around without fear of impunity and less about his skill as a director. I remember he also appeared on THIS IS YOUR LIFE when Davis was honored, and they seemed to be dear friends.

I'll be gone for a large portion of the day today, just in case someone asks where in tarnation people are. I'm having a Chinese lunch following my computer shopping with a friend, and then an afternoon at the pool enjoying this almost spring-like downturn in our temperatures. Sadly, the cool nights and non-humid days will be a thing of the past by Tuesday.

An now for the Pièce de Résistance:

WARNING: DRs of gentle sensibilities should Resist reading on.

WARNING: graphic descriptions of arguably unappetizing cuisine follow.

WARNING: Food Posting Ambush Ahead

The other day, Panni became upset when I mentioned horse fat as a frying medium for "fries". Well, I got the idea from reading " The Man Who Ate Everything" by
Jeffrey Steingarten. Seems he picked up the trick from the home of Panni's beloved Wiener Schnitzel, Austria.

To put a more local face on the issue let me quote form an Oregon Publication called "The Backwoods Home Magazine" (http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles2/chance88.html)" :

Quote
With a delicate flavor similar to beef, though many describe its taste as slightly sweeter than other meats, horse meat can be used to replace beef, pork, mutton, and any other meat in virtually any recipe, though most aficionados prefer it in marinated or spicy dishes. Nutritionally, horse meat has around 40 percent fewer calories than the leanest beef, while supplying 50 percent more protein and as much as 30 percent more iron; and horse fat is considered an excellent health-conscious deep-frying alternative, especially for delicately-flavored foods that are easily overpowered by heavier oils.

To diners in Canada, Germany, Mexico, Belgium, Italy, so on around the world, horse meat is not a rare and expensive delicacy nibbled at by only a few societal oddballs with bizarre tastes, as has often been claimed by its detractors. It’s practically everyday fare for significant portions of the population. As much as a third of the French eat horse meat regularly, according to some industry estimates, even though a suspicious trichinosis scare in the 1970s curtailed consumption nationally. Sure, not everyone who eats food in those countries has tasted horse meat, but enough do eat it, and eat it often enough, to keep the production of horse meat in commercial quantities firmly established in agriculture’s “big business” category. In fact, so many Japanese restaurants offer horse meat, sliced thin and either grilled lightly or served completely raw, that a large sub-segment of that nation’s dining industry depends on its continued importation.

So we’ll eat Bambi, but we won’t eat Trigger?
The point here is that: even though the overwhelming attitude in the United States is that Misty of Chincoteague or Black Beauty should not be used as food on its “cringe factor” alone, millions of other people in other places have absolutely no moral problems with horse meat. In fact, the various cultures worldwide that oppose the eating of beef and pork far outnumber those with objections to human consumption of horse meat.

And that’s a shame in a world as hungry as this one.

So far, the only state that has absolutely outlawed the use of horse meat on the family table is (surprise!) California, though Californians have no problem feeding it to their high-dollar dogs and cats. But even in the handful of states where horse meat is regulated, including California, giving and receiving horse meat as a gift is perfectly legal, and bartering for it will probably always remain a legal gray area.

But remember: it’s a good idea, if you’re thinking of barbecuing up a horse quarter, or even a Quarter Horse, to make sure everyone knows exactly what kind of meat you’ve got roasting on the cooker well before the blessing is said. Even the best of friends can come to blows where food ambushes are concerned.

Sunday Sweet Sunday.

Happy Birthday, DRderBrucer!

DEAD RINGER -  I bought this Previn score on LP for 49 cents many years before I saw the movie.  When I finally did (on TV) I could almost predict what was going to happen because I knew what music was coming next.  And the movie was NEVER as exciting as the music.

As MATTH says, the double photography is good.  Jean Hagen has a thankless part and Peter Lawford is greasy....  It is a bit disconcerting to watch him paw and kiss a MUCH OLDER Bette.

I am watching THE RESTLESS YEARS with Sandra Dee and John Saxon and Virginia Grey....strange movie....

Hello, all!  I had a lovely time with DRs Ben, td, and Michael, and I had to hurry back to my apartment to take my medication.  I watched a bit of tv, and I was in bed by 9:30.  This morning, trying to maneuver myself in the bathtub, I managed to jerk that blasted back muscle again, so I'm back to Square One!  My day will be spent primarily in bed watching tv and reading:  I just got the new Jerome Robbins bio and I'm enjoying it.  Tomorrow I see the surgeon about this abscess, and I hope the diagnosis is to my advantage!  Please keep the god vibes coming.

Happy Birthday, der Brucer.  I hope your day is filled with good company and good times.

Dear Friend BK, vibes and xylophones to you always!  I wish I could be there for your revue.

Haven't you had enough, already? ::)

Here some special news for lovers of Haute Cinema:

As extracted from the LA Times "On DVD" (http://www.calendarlive.com/movies/cl-ca-dvd8aug08,2,5201231.htmlstory):

Quote
Chills and shudders on tap

Some classic examples of the horror genre make their DVD debut. Aug 8 2004

Warner Home Video Horror Collection
$20 each

Some classic examples of the horror genre — "Freaks," "The Bad Seed," "Dead Ringer," "Village of the Damned" and "Children of the Damned" — make their DVD debut.

'Freaks'
MGM lured Browning back to the studio but was shocked by his 1932 effort, "Freaks," which lighted a firestorm of controversy, was severely edited and even removed from distribution. Over the years "Freaks" has grown in reputation and now is considered one of the most remarkable films of the 1930s.
...
"Freaks" freaked out audiences and critics because Browning cast performers with real physical deformities, including "living torso" Prince Radian, conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton and "pinheads" Elvira and Jenny Lee Snow.

Extras: Three alternate endings, a special prologue message that was shown during the theatrical release, a fascinating documentary ("Freaks: Sideshow Cinema") and informative commentary from film historian and writer David J. Skal.

'The Bad Seed'
Extras: The "making of" documentary, "Enfant Terrible: A Conversation With Patty McCormack" and breezy commentary with actor-playwright Charles Busch ("Die Mommie Die!," "Psycho Beach Party") and McCormack.

'Dead Ringer'

A terrific campy wallow from 1964 starring Bette Davis as twins. And double the Davis means double the fun. The poor twin hates her wealthy sister because she stole the man she loved. Twenty years later, holding a grudge as heavy as an anvil, destitute Edie kills off her sister Margaret and takes on her identity.
...
Extras: A vintage featurette, a fun new documentary, "Double Take: Bette vs. Bette," and delicious commentary from author Boze Hadleigh and, as with "Bad Seed," Charles Busch.

The Extras should be worth the price of admission:
 - Charles Busch commenting on Bette Davis - will he be costumed for the event?

- Alternate endings for "Freaks" - boggles one's mind. Does Sir Lancelot re-appear and heal them all? Do they go through the Stargate? Do they run for public office?

der "waiting with bated breath" Brucer

::contemplates possible "alternate endings for "Tiger Cruise" - Bermuda Triangle comes to mind, a giant Ice Berg?, Krakatoa let's loose again?, the kids mutiny and we get an update of "Lord of the Flies"? - so many possibilities (A Sunday In the Park reference)::

Geez, where have I been that I have not tried horse meat?

I was going to say that I had never seen it in Montreal.  But after DR Emily mentioned seeing it at grocery stores, I think I may have as well.

Although I don't know anybody who eats it.

That article is a bit misleading, since it's not like restaurants here serve it.

Although I suppose if grocery stores have it, then somebody must be buying it.

I wonder if it tastes like regular beef.  I mean it's funny how we all feel ill when someone mentions eating a horse.  Yet most of us eat cows.

Anyhow DR Emily, I think that you should try it for us and let us know how it is. :)

Might I just ask where in tarnation IS everyone?  You'd think it was a Sunday or something.

Re Dead Ringers idiotic press release - double the Bette only occurs for the first fifteen minutes.  There is a LONG LONG 100 minutes that follows.  The film is NEVER campy, that is the problem.  And it was totally mis-sold as a Baby Jane thing, which is why it flopped miserably.

I woke up at seven so nauseous it was blecchy.  I don't succumb to nausea if I can help it, so I just stayed in bed, zoned out, and fell back asleep.  I just got up twenty minutes ago and feel a bit better now.

Better Back vibes, DR Elmore!
Last night in her show Bea Arthur had some choice words (none of them good) about Jerome Robbins. She told a hilarious story about the dancer Swen Swenson and how he trained one of his small Yorkie dogs to do the following trick... Whenever Swen would throw a party, he would always leave the door of his apartment slightly ajar for unexpected or late guests. At some point in every party, he would go to the door, look into the hallway and say, "Oh no! It's Jerry Robbins!" ...At which pioint the little dog would throw himself against the door with all his might and slam it shut.

Good Morning!

Well, I slept in too... Guess my body - and my "self" needed it.

I actually wasn't feeling too well stomach-wise either when I got up this morning - nor when I went to bed last night either.  I guess it was the "revenge" of the Heath Bar Thingy I had.  It truly was VERY rich - about three layers of fudgey cake, layered with chocolate fudge/pastry cream, covered in chocolate ganache, and then with big pieces of Heath Bars embedded in the ganache coating.  *burp*  That and the coffee I had with it too - I haven't had straight coffee in a while, and I forgot that sometimes the acid in the coffee doesn't sit too well with me.  Ah, well.. Live and learn.  At least I packed my Pepcid AC in my dop kit.  And at least the "Thingy" was delicious.  (Sheesh!  TCB?  Calling DR TCB?) ;)

My question is: does Jose get worked like this, from 12-8:30 with just a dinner break at 6?  Just wondering.  I wouldn't blame anybody if he did.

The answer is: Yes... And No.

For the first two weeks of rehearsal for What If?, even though we were only rehearsing in the evenings, I was spending a lot of my "off time" with headphones on listening to various songs so that I could transcribe them.  And then on the first few days off, I was starting to chart them on my computer.

As BK will attest to - and even I will readily admit - my "ear" is not the best.  It's gotten lazy since I graduated from college - which included three years of some pretty intensive music theory and ear training.  I just haven't had to use it.  I play mainly shows/tours now, so the music is provided for me; and auditions - again, the music is provided for me.  I've never been one to sit down at the piano and just start playing for myself or for others.  I'm mainly a sight-reader.  *I also think part of my "resistance" to playing-by-ear has/had to do with my resistance for playing when company would come over when I was younger - I just hated being put on the spot like that by my mother - but I think that's typical for any 10-11-year old boy being asked by his parents to "show off" for their neighbors and relatives.

*There's probably the basis for some in-depth psychological study in that previous statement... But I digress...

So, there were a few days early on, where I would be listening and transcribing for a couple of hours at a time.  And then there were songs that needed to be transposed, rearranged, restructured...  Etc. etc., etc...

However, all that work is par for the course for a musical director, so...  Comes with the territory.

And I do have to thank BK for his very good "ear" which has helped me to fine tune and correct some of my transcriptions.

But even for a standard show, there are usually many days where I work 8, 10, 12.... even 14 or 16 hours in one day.  (But I do take breaks - either my own, or union "enforced".)  Heck, there was one day during Children of Eden rehearsals where I had orchestra rehearsal from 10-4, then I programmed the keyboard from 5-Midnight.  And there was even an all-nighter during tech week to finish up the keyboard programming.  The work just had to be done.

MAKING THE BEST USE OF YOUR MONEY

Extracted from an AP Newstory (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,128332,00.html):

Quote
SAN FRANCISCO  — A company that unveiled the world's first cloned cat nearly three years ago now says it is ready to start filling orders for cloned pets, a newspaper reported Thursday.

Genetic Savings and Clone [Oh That Groaning were allowed], a firm that wants to make a business out of cloned pets, now has Tabouli and Baba Ganoush, 8-week-old Bengal kittens who are the world's second and third cat clones.

Five customers are paying $50,000 each for a clone of their own cats, which the company expects to have available by December. The company also said it has several hundred clients paying $150 a year plus an initial $900 to preserve tissue from living pets for future cloning. The first cloned cat — a calico named CC for Carbon Copy — cost the company $200,000 to produce.

The company declined to say how long it took to create Tabouli and Baba Ganoush. Both cats are said to be healthy and do not face any of the common clone health problems, such as organ malformation.

But critics say there could be hidden defects and that the cats may have curtailed lives.

Cats with "curtailed" lives? I would think "kittytailed" lives would be more like it.

And if you can't afford to clone, you can always freeze-dry.

...Of course, nothing could beat all the practice and preparation time spent preparing singers and instrumentalists for end of the semester juries in college - and when I was on staff after - or not on staff - after college.

I would normally have about 10-15 students a semester.  Each student would have a minimum of six songs ready for each jury.  And if they were a junior or a senior, they would have to have at least a half-recital's or recital's length of material prepared.  Then, the kicker, of course, would be that since the juries were only scheduled in 8-10 minutes slots, we would only be asked to perform two or three selections.  So, what it came down to for me at least, was preparing anywhere from 80-100 songs (thankfully, there was usually some overlap between voice majors), but only having to "perform" 20-30 of them for the teachers at the juries.

And then there was my one true "hell week" when I was playing for the Musical Theatre Department at Catholic University.  I had six recitals to accompany in six days.  Two in one day, in fact!  And one of them was a classical voice recital with some pretty advanced repertoire.  But I survived.  *It was just the way the scheduling happened to turn out since there were only certain windows of time when recitals could be scheduled and when the hall was available.  And I received some very nice compliments from the faculty too.

All in all, I had a great time.  And since my "day job" was also my "night job", I never had any real complaints.  Adrenaline can be your friend at times. ;)

-What would wear me out the most were the techs(!) for the Musical Theatre recitals.  These were more or less fully staged personal cabarets - dancing, costumes, lighting - sometimes even a small back up band.. and even multiple sets!  There were more than a few times when I would be called in to tech a recital from 11:00pm-1:00am!!!

I think you ears make very nice bookends for your haircut.
And don't complain about "lazy" ear, it could be "lazy" eye.

You could probably have solved the "Let Me Entertain You" problem by lauching into a rousing rendition of "The Spinning Song". (My poor Jewish schoolmates kept ripping into "Finlandia" or "Sabre Dance", or an occasional "Warsaw Concerto" and always were on the carpet to "Play some more!"

"Can you please play some more."
"Can you hum a few bars?"

OOH!!  But nothing would beat some of the Classical Instrumental competitions I would play for.  Again, they would hardly ever schedule enough time to hear the whole piece and/or concerto - just ask for excerpts...

"Can we hear from where the solo violin comes in at the beginning?"

-So I would start a few measures before the solo "exposition"...

"Ummm... Thank You... Can you just jump to the solo cadenza?"

-Then I would sit there and listen for a few minutes while the soloist did his/her thing...

"Thank You... Can you now jump to the cadenza in the last movement?"

-Listen, listen, listen...

"Thank You... Next contestant please."

-But, again, that was par for the course.  And there were times when the judges would hear more accompanied sections - you just never knew.  But there were some pieces where I spent HOURS practicing and practicing certain sections, but, in the end, never had to actually peform them in public.

The one "comfort" came in the form of the check from the soloist after the competition.  Not a bad dollars to minutes(!) - sometimes even seconds(!!) - ratio! :D

I was E & T yesterday for I was at a birthday party for my buddy Terry's kids Zack and Nicole. It was a lot of fun and boy did those kids get a LOT of gifts! Holy cow. I think Terry is making up for the fact that he is divorced from the kids' mom! Fortunately he and his ex-wife (who was also at the party) have remained the best of friends...she is one heck of a gal!

Today is is HOT and I am just flopping around the house...watched last nights Big Brother (which was excellent!) and will now finish watching my Bollywood movie and (hopefully) finish up the William Reynolds interview changes/additions.

Anyone heard from Maya or Laura II lately??

I believe that Miss Maya is working multiple jobs this summer while trying to visit DC and NY as often as possible and seeing shows.  She's transferring to a new college this fall, but I'm not sure what the new school is.  All in all, I think she's doing well!

I can make a tape or DVD copy of TIGER CRUISE, but I'd ned to know in advance to record it since I haven't recorded it during any of its other plays. I always caution making DVDs for people because some DVD machines have trouble with homemade DVDs since there are so many different recording formats for DVDs, and not every player reads every format without trouble. I made a DVD-R of NOTORIOUS C.H.O. for a friend, and the DVD jumped around in his Zenith DVD player as if it were a record skipping. It played fine on my DVD players here and also on another friend's Sony player. So making DVD-Rs for people is a risky proposition. Tape is usually a safer bet unless you're sure your equipment is compatible with theirs.

BEA ARTHUR ON BROADWAY was released on CD a year or two ago around the same time that ELAINE STRITCH AT LIBERTY was released on CD. I bought both of them. Like others, I felt Bea's show, while interesting and fun, didn't have the depth or passion of Stritch's masterful monologue. Still, glad I got to experience it even just on CD.

Have had a busy day thus far, and am glad to finally be home and able to relax a little (laundry will be calling soon). It's tax free weekend here in the Carolinas, so that's why my friend wanted to buy a computer today. It's the last day you can get it without sales tax being added to your purchase. Some states aren't burdened with this, but we have 7.25% sales tax in NC.

Sales tax in Thurston County is 8.4%.  In Seattle, I think it's as high as 8.8%!  No sales tax can be a nice savings...so when amazon.com charges sales tax (for me) and other Internet sites don't, I take that into account when I'm Internet shopping.

I may not make it to chat tonight.  I have some errands to run and don't know how long they'll take.  Also, my sister, her boyfriend and my niece are all going to Vancouver, BC for the week!  They didn't ask if I wanted to go.  As usual, they ASSUMED that I would be available to house and pet sit for them.  UNFORTUNATELY, I don't have any reason not to...other than I don't really want to...and I couldn't afford it.  I have to save my money for Portland in two weeks!!  But I can eat all their food and stay in their well air conditioned house!  So it's not all bad.  I just have to walk the dog (not the yo-yo trick) and make sure that the cat is inside before it gets too late.  And they live right next door to me, so there's no travel time.  Anyway, that's going to be my week.

Got motivated and saw The Manchurian Candidate about which I'll have plenty to say in tomorrow's notes.  It's not a disaster or anything, it's just a victim of the way they do movies these days.

We have been very good about our rehearsal breaks - at least one every seventy minutes, but usually one an hour.  Plus on our long day, full lunch and dinner break as well as the every-so-often break.

Good late afternoon/Early Evening all!

I spent a lazy day as well.  It rained most of the day.  Sometimes very hard and with many lightning flashes.  Since I didn't want to fry the new computer, I stayed off and watched some DVD's.

I bought my Star Trek DVD with The Inner Light and enjoyed it very, very, very (that's 3 verys much).  I also bought the Conan DVD I always wanted.  Last but not least, I discovered that  Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.    I remember I loved that as a kid.  Still do.

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday, Der Brucer![/move]

I dreamed about you guys at Joe Allens.  In fact, I dreamed about Bruce.  You were not there but they named a dinner after you on the menu.  I read it quite plainly.  Bruce Kimmel  $30.00 in white lettering.    I don’t know what it was—chicken, fish, beef but it would be fun to know, what would you want it to be if you had a meal named after you at Joe Allens?  I think it’s cool to know that I dream in stuff that can be read as well as in color, with sound and special effects.

I shall try to be at chat tonight but I do have a request.  Instead of Pacific Mean time, can we have it at some other kind of time?  How about  Pacific Nice time or Pacific Waltz time or Pacific BK time?  I’ve had enough of Mean for one week.

I’m so sorry to hear that you rehurt your back, Elmore.  Good healing vibes to you!

My ear continues  to be plugged up,  I’m starting to get worried about my hearing.  I have to go for my post operation x-ray tomorrow.  I think I shall also be giving the doctor a call about my ear.

I'm back from my excursion to Griffith Park...  Well, at least part of Griffith Park.  I ended up just walking up the hills following the roads.  Past the golf course, past the Greek Theatre, through the tunnel, and up to the Observatory - which, sadly is closed right now.  Along the way, I stopped at few overlooks and took some pictures.  I'd post some of them, but I realized that I forgot to pack the USB cable for my camera so that I can load them onto my laptop.  Ah, well...  I'm sure I can find a Kodak kiosk somewhere around here.

There is actually some nice scenery up there, and all sorts of paths to take - and people taking those paths.  I did get a little antsy when I ventured out to one overlook - the signs about rattlesnakes kind of "bugged" me.  But it was a great hike/walk, and just what I needed on my afternoon off.  Now.. to chat... I hope... then dinner...

I’m having trouble getting my VCR to record.  Keith tried for over an hour this morning.  I have one more option-call a friend to transfer it for me from his TIVO.

Jane, I want to thank you, anyway, for the offer to send a copy off to me.  But I talked to my sister today and she started telling me about this wonderful movie she saw Friday night and it didn't take long for me to realize that she was talking about Tiger Cruise.  She said that she was going to tape it tonight, so I should be able to catch it later in the week.

I'm here for a one post frenzy. Then I might go and forage for food in the wilds of Studio City. I feel like a cheese omelette. ("Funny you don't look like a...") I have eggs, but no cheese at home. Skammen.

Just a word about THE ITALIAN JOB. Veddy, veddy British in tone and texture - droll, wry, fun. The chase that concludes the picture was staged obviously to out-do the one in BULLIT, but, of course, it was outdone by the ones in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER and THE FRENCH CONNECTION. Nice little twist ending. Glad I've finally seen it.

Next one up to bat: MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE which I hope won't take me two weeks to watch like THE ITALIAN JOB did.

Oh, and courtesy of a scan by Dear Cast Member, Paul Haber, here's the post card for the show:

Wowee, wow, wow, wow!  Terrific poster!  I love the cast, I love the poses, I love the colors, I love the funky font!  I'm going to try to print out my own copy tomorrow at work on our color laser printer.

Yes, I liked the post card for the show very much, too. Very alluring come-on for the show and should generate mucho ticket sales.

Has this weekend flown by or what? I can't remember a weekend in a long time that just whizzed by. I mean, I got a terrific amount of stuff done today, and I guess that's why it seems today has flown, but the ENTIRE weekend has.

Got motivated and saw The Manchurian Candidate about which I'll have plenty to say in tomorrow's notes.  It's not a disaster or anything, it's just a victim of the way they do movies these days.

I know nothing about this new Manchurian Candidate, but I can't help envisioning that the last fifteen minutes is a knockdown, dragout, hand-to-hand battle between Denzil Washington and Meryl Streep.  Probably doesn't end that way, though...

Speaking of the big picture, take a look at  this.  (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0011/earthlights_dmsp_big.jpg)

I will only say this at this time: The Manchurian Candidate actually has something resembling a happy ending.

Where in tarnation IS everyone.  This is the third time I've shown up and no one is here.  You'd think there were lepers around these here parts.

I was taping Tiger Cruise -- then I realized that Six Feet Under was coming on, so I stopped taping TC and watched SFU. Does this mean I'm not loyal to myself? The ultimate betrayal.

I have a HUGE headache. I hope there's some mindless TV on.

I'm sure you can find some mindless DVD to watch or you can take Abie's Irish Rose out and do mindless things in Studio City.

Well, for the past hour and a half I was watching "Tiger Cruise"...  Having been a Coast Guard brat, and having my father away for months at a time while I was growing up... Having grown up in the D.C. area...  Having been to NYC many times - and loving NYC...  Having had to deal with trying to reach my family on 9/11 - my family who lives in the DC area...  The movie hit close to home for me on many levels.  In fact, I started tearing up when that brief shot of the "old" skyline of New York City flashed by in the opening sequences.

Well done, Panni!

Do you know if The Disney Channel has any plans to release the movie on DVD at a later time?  With some extras? ;)

I at least hope the movie gets shown again closer to the 9/11 anniversary.  And if Disney/Buena Vista was/is smart, they'll show it on ABC as part of the Wonderful World of Disney - or whatever it is called nowadays.  The movie definitely deserves wider exposure and "availability".

Thanks for the nice words, Jose. I think Disney usually releases their movies on DVD. There will probably be a showing close to 9/11 -- that was always the original plan.

DR Panni - You may have mentioned this in previous post, and I may have missed it, but just in case...  Have you worked before with the co-writer for "Tiger Cruise"? - I think Bruce Graham was the name I saw on my TV screen.

Just had to check in.  I'm settled at my sister's and the animals (a dog and a cat) are both lying (laying?) down.  I'm going to watch Ebert and Roeper in a few minutes, then go to bed.  I have to get up at 6:00 a.m.! (!) to let Murphy (the dog) go out and relieve himself.  If I stay awake, I'll try to get to work early so that I can leave early.  I like that part.  Good night all!

No, Jose. I've never met him.

Interesting... Were the two of you then assigned different stories, tracks to cover?

Did you know you had a "co-writer"? ;)

No, DR Jose, we weren't assigned different tracks. Yes, I knew about him. It's a long boring story. I explained some of it in a PM to DerBrucer, who also  asked about it. I don't particularly want to go through it again, but he has my okay to share it with you if you want to PM him. This kind of thing happens all the time in our business of show. "Partners" who have never met, that is.

I had NO idea it was midnight! If I were an alcoholic, I could say I'd had a blackout. Can you have a sober blackout? What happened to the last two hours??
