What is it with OLT and their strange start times?
Well, good night, George. Break a leg today!
Today is the Big Concert! DR Ginny is picking me up at 12:15 for the rehearsal. Full coverage later.
Good thing I had no other plans.
Jane - I'm expecting to fly in to see the show the second weekend of the run. But the exact day will depend on what's going on around then work-wise.
It's so strange to think that here it is, with the show ending the 2017-18 season, announced and booked for a while already, and it's still over nine months away.
This evening I must drive nearly an hour to the calling hours for which the funeral is tomorrow morning. While I didn't actually know the deceased, I know the family and the circumstances well enough to know that this is going to be a tough one. I expect it to be very well attended, which will be good for all.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL weather here today! No need for the AC until maybe late in the afternoon.
Vibes for BK and Co.!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Enjoying a rare Bloody Mary. Rare, only because I so rarely think to have one. And that's my bad. They're wonderful.

DR GEORGE don't forget your matinee.
Started watching Fences. I don't think August Wilson is quite right for the big screen. As much as I love his writing, it all sounds like a play, too heavy and too nonstop. The best moments are when the talking stops and you see Viola Davis wondering how to cary on.
In a way, it's like Sondheim or Porter on the screen. You don't need the third verse or the encore, as much as you love the lyrics.
Feel better vibes for DR TCB!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A few years ago, they (I don't remember who "they" are...I have the site bookmarked on my old computer) made audio recordings of all 10 of August Wilsons plays. I downloaded the whole series, which is no longer available to download. I haven't listened to all of them yet, but what I have heard is pretty darned wonderful. If anyone wants the MP3 files (there's one whole file for each play), when I get home, I can send you a link to download them. :)
BIG VIBES for DR Elmore's Overture debut tonight!!!

Yes, please. I've seen five or six in the theater and I've read the whole cycle, but I'd love to hear them.
Just had a call from Elizabeth Sherman - Richard took a little tumble on Friday so she doesn't think they can come tonight. What a pity, since we're premiering a Levi song.

We just returned DR Elmore to his brother's home after a full day with the Southwest Ohio Philharmonic. The rehearsal went well and he was quite pleased with his piece. It was very well-received at the concert.
After the rehearsal we picked Richard and Mary Linda and DR Elmore took us to Applebee's for burgers.
I'll leave the musical details to DR Elmore, but, for me, today was a wonderful diversion - just what I needed!

You gotta be kidding!
And Congrats to Jrand on his plateau!
I am home, thanks to DR Ginny and Richard. After the orchestra read the overture down at the rehearsal, I heaved a big sigh of relief. It wasn't a bad piece of juvenilia, as i feared, but a rather pleasant neoclassical score. I don't think it's a great composition but I think it's a pleasant overture to a Shakespeare comedy. The audience and players said nice things about it and I wasn't embarrassed by it.

Back, from standing in a three-and-a-half hour line at the funeral home.
The whole last hour of that was the almost Disney-esque "queue", wending its way through the various rooms filled with easels and easels of pictures, before reaching the large room where everyone was.
Plus, the hour drive each way... Unreal, man.

Back from the Kritzerland show, which went wonderfully. No real major flubs, lots o' laughs, performers were great, and I think everyone had a splendidly splendid time. Many many highlights about which more in the notes.
Hi, George.
