My question for ASK BK DAY:

Were you able to find a copy of The Light in the Forest with James MacArthur and Carol Lynley?  The DVD seems to be scarce, although the VHS copy is available.  It has been loaded to YouTube....so I was watching it there.

Booked a ticket home.

All the prices are crazy.

So I am going back Saturday where I found the cheapest ticket.
Title: Re: AND SO - YESTERDAY
Post by: Michael on September 13, 2017, 03:34:00 AM
What I did learn is that I should have booked a ticket regardless if I had electricity or not and if not cancelled it within 24 hrs and then rebooked and kept doing it until I had a confirmation of power. Prices were lower and available further out.

Back from meeting with six very talented student costume designers.  I picked my two favorites and now they'll actually design a couple of costumers.  I already know that the gal who would be my first choice is, of course, big surprise, the first choice of the director doing the show before Levi.  But I was also told that Levi will get who I want because it's in the big theater and high profile.

In other news, the Rodney Dangerfield Back to School reading that I had been asked to do (to play the Ned Beatty role) and then unasked a week before by the idiot director who thought he got himself a bigger "name" with Paul Rodriguez - he then asked if I'd play a bunch of smaller roles and I said, of course, no because I thought the way they handled it was disgusting.  Apparently not a sellout, and apparently Mr. Rodriguez was a four-star disaster.  So, karma, folks.

Did anyone else watch the telethon for the hurricane victims last night?  There were a lot of stars answering phones, including Ms. Streisand.  I called and called and finally got through after the show ended.  The woman who answered took my information and credit card number and then asked if I wanted to be connected to a celebrity.  I said "sure."  I was transferred to Charlie Wilson.  He was very nice but I had never heard of him.  I looked him up and he's a singer, songwriter and producer.  I guess it wouldn't have been okay for me to ask him if Barbra was nearby and could talk.

The person who wrote the blurb on the back of the Macbeth disc needs to learn English. He claims that Macbeth is about "a Scottish prince's quest for power through patricide."

I hate to break it to the writer, but Macbeth didn't kill his father. He did commit regicide, but not patricide.

Yes. And many gas stations are closed due to damage, so gas supplies are limited. I imagine many restaurants and hotels are also closed. Not a good time to be a tourist in Florida.

My therapist, Erik, has Lifelock and has been very happy with it. I'm looking into it. Unfortunately, their website doesn't explain much, but Erik said that anytime someone accesses your Social Security Number Lifelock contacts you to verify that it was really you, thus preventing someone from applying for a loan, etc in your name.

Has anyone here have or had Lifelock?

I'm watching a new Australian drama called NEWTON'S LAW. It's from the creators of MISS FISHER. It's good, but IMO doesn't have the magic of MISS FISHER.

Watching the Orson Welles' Macbeth. Very stylized, very bleak, very beautiful.

Is this the uncut original version with the actors using Scotish accents?

I was trying to remember the name of the show to watch it.  Thank you.  If it doesn't have the magic, maybe I will pass.

Yup...the handwriting is definitely another reason that it's not mine. ;)

Well, I hate to do it (no, I really do!), but I have to go to bed now.  Tomorrow, instead of a regular work day, we're having the library's All Staff Training Retreat where all employees throughout the entire library district (who don't choose to take vacation time and not go) get together and take four workshops (out of about a dozen choices) over the course of the day and learn stuff.  Very little is actually applicable to those of us in collection services (who don't work with the public) but it's a free lunch. ;)

Consequently, all the Timberland libraries are closed for the day.

Anyway, the retreat (it used to be called All Staff Day, then All Staff Training Day, now it's a "retreat") is being held at the Great Wolf Lodge just off I-5 on the way to Centralia.  My new supervisor offered to drive people and I'm going to get a ride with her.  She's going to leave our building at 7:30 a.m., so, I need to leave my house by 7:15 at the latest! :P So I need to go to bed now.
