After three days of little sleep. I'm feeling pretty good today,  I went to bed at 9, and woke up at 7:30.  I have a lot of writing today to finish up this London orchestration, and the first round of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying should be coming in later this morning.

I think the Tiber has been crossed in Kittyland.  Thatch still seems unsure if I'm friend or foe: I bring him food, pet him, play games with him, and keep his litter clean, but I also bring this terrifying Dust Buster into his cage to vacuum and keep him locked up.

However, that said, I believe that like me, he has fallen in love with Annabelle.  This morning she was sitting on my computer table with me, and I could see him stretching out his paw through the bars of the door to reach her,  Later, he was at the door trying to get her attention so I carried her over and they sniffed each other's faces with no sign of hostility.

The major dream o' the night was a weird one.  But what else is new?

Some abstraction combining music, of course, with me and whoever my dream partners were trying to get on a train that's suddenly about to pull out of the station.

Oy.

I've been trying to find a vet for them.  Manhattan Cat Specialists, which is six blocks from me, had an ad on Facebook for $50 off the first visit.  So, I asked for an appointment, got a confirmation that they gad my application and requested dates, and I've never heard from them again.

I think Annabelle might have a cold and need a checkup, so I will call City Vet on 72nd St today and see if I can take her in ASAP.

I hadn't thought about this in a long time, but when I had my two girls who were about 12 years old at the time, and we brought little 8-week-old Poe into the house, they each got flu-like reactions a couple of times until everyone had adapted to each other's bacteria or whatever.  This will happen in spite of the fact that the new kitten has been checked out in advance by a vet.  But of course it's good to have her checked.

T.O.D.

Once again, nothing.

I'm beginning to think I've lost interest in watching new movies.  I don't go to theaters any longer.  I don't think I've rented more than 2 or 3 DVDs this year.  There's just nothing out there I care to see.

I watch certain shows on TV (e.g. those produced by Dick Wolfe), and occasionally an old movie in my large DVD library, but I really have no interest in anything recent.

Is it me, or are they just not making good movies any longer?

This started happening two nights ago, and at first I was concerned that some adware or malware had gotten in.  See those little "phantom scrollbars" on each post?  They were just suddenly there, and they've stayed there since -- but only when using Chrome (on Win7).  They're not there in Firefox, or in Safari on the iPad.  A Google search produces almost nothing, except I found one person saying it had something to do with one's wireless mouse software (maybe).  But still, it's only on Chrome.  The little scrollbars are nonfunctioning, even in longer posts (their size doesn't even relate to the size of the post), and my Malwarebytes, etc., are all working and up to date.  They always appear on the left side of the post, but you can sometimes see a tiny one on the right as well, as in DR Elmore's post.  Weird, eh?  You can click on this to see it better.

I’d rather watch — or rewatch — an old favorite than a superhero movie or something of that ilk.

I picked up a copy of Wild Strawberries last night. Haven’t seen it since I was in high school, but it’s been a treasured film of my past. May hold off watching it until the recuperating begins. It’s slow and I think I will be, too.

I have never seen those scrollbars here before.....but when something like that happens to me - it is always the browser.....always.....

Sometimes random words turn blue and become links - in FireFox - restarting the computer usually gets rid of the problem.

Little Thatch is so adorable today.  Every time Annabelle gets in his vicinity, he sticks his paws through the cage trying to pet her and get her attention.

She's most definitely feeling puny.  She's not eating and I cannot get her to play.  I will see if I can get her into the vet tomorrow.

Oh no.  Well, if it's the type of transmitted bug I posted about, I can tell you that what put my girls back on their feet was fluids administered by the vet and I believe an overnight stay for observation, at least the first time it happened.  I don't recall if he gave any other kind of medication, but I think they had low fevers and the re-hydration did the trick.  Also (sorry, this was 15 years ago), they each came down with "it" a couple of times before getting past it!!

Yes, the appetite went, and they acted like they had sore throats.  It was a little more than just a cold where they sneeze for a couple of days.

Feel better vibes for Annabelle!

Went to a different Big Lots today. Came away with several good movies, including MASH, one of the few Altman movies I need (there may be seven or eight more), The Big Sleep and Dark Passage, and a Blu and Ray of It’s a Mad, Mad, etc. (I enjoy the movie, but I don’t need the Criterion version at eight times the price).

Sometimes I go back to an old movie that I loved; watch it again and am very disappointed.

That happened a couple months ago when I re-watched THE STUNT MAN with Peter O'Toole.

I loved that film when it came out.  Watched it several more times on DVD.

But, it had been 10-12 years since I'd watched it last and, this time it was disappointing.

Don't know why.  O'Toole was great fun.

Back from our errands, which were delightful until after lunch with Amy’s family.  From there, we went to the Springboro post office, where I was treated insultingly and didn’t get what I asked for.  Then we went to the candy store where I was told, no, they had no pecan halves and Richard found 2 bags of them.  At that point I asked him if I was speaking some language other than English today.  We stopped at Kroger, which was a zoo, and I’m now very glad to be home for a while.

Re: credit reports. Yes, the credit reporting agencies assume that a closed credit card was done so INvoluntarily and ding you for it. It's not permanent, though; it drops off after a while. If you're applying for a loan anytime soon, then, no, you wouldn't want to close the card. I've done so at times, though, because someone could still steal the card or your number. Some organizations will notate that the closing was voluntary, but whether that matters to the credit agencies I don't know.

Senator Warren and others tried to clean things up. I have trouble understanding resistance to it, but that's politics, I guess.

Larry, if the cats aren't drinking water you may want to give them some with an eye dropper. When one of my cats had feline leukemia (before the vaccine) I used to hold her in my arms and gave her water and also baby vitamins. She came through it and was quite healthy afterwards.

If they don't seem sick, maybe they're just tired of the food right now.  Neve has eaten a specific flavor of cat food voraciously one time, then not even touched it another.  I have no idea why. :-\

I picked up a copy of Wild Strawberries last night. Haven’t seen it since I was in high school, but it’s been a treasured film of my past. May hold off watching it until the recuperating begins. It’s slow and I think I will be, too.

I think with Stunt Man that the surprise factor was part of the joy that came with the first viewing. Event with a 20-year lapse, I remembered most of the surprises on the second visit and it as more about the performances than anything else.

After a great lunch, I had an atrocious Thanksgiving dinner tonight. It was at the dance studio and it was only turkey, not very creamy mashed potatoes, dressing that looked too dreadful to dry, a roll and gravy. Nothing else. No vegetable, no cranberry, no butter for the roll.

And I now have indigestion.

I've started watching Satyajit Ray's Indian version of Enemy of the People. Wonderful stuff.

Makes me wonder why nobody has done a Flint, Mich., version of this. Couldn't be more timely.

I think half the city seemed to have left town tonight. The traffic was just horrible.

I will have to avoid the groceries this weekend, if I can.

Bottom line, I didn't really get up from my nap until 7:00 p.m.

I'm jealous.  I didn't leave work tonight until about 9 pm!  Yesterday was the cut-off for invoicing for this month, but the Amazon invoice didn't arrive until yesterday afternoon when it was too late for me to even get started because I had to go to IKEA with my sister.

Anyway, I got it done, as well as the monthly report for the business office, which added a couple of more hours.  But it's all done for this month.  WHEW!  And I didn't have to work any overtime to get it done...which we're not supposed to do without prior approval, anyway.

;)

Want a DVD?  I still need to send you She Loves Me.  And would also you want Falsettos and/or Present Laughter, too?

I would love to have a copy of FALSETTOS.  I watched PRESENT LAUGHTER, so I really don't need to see it again (my production was better).  I don't really know anything about INDECENT.

I didn't know much about it either, but I saw a commercial and it looked interesting.  Here's a Wikipedia article about the play:

No, I think I will pass on INDECENT.  I will probably regret it later.

Home from a great opening night. LEVI! is an excellent show and, as usual, BK really made it all work. The music was pure Sherman Bros, the orchestrations were great, and Marc Ginsberg owns the show. More tomorrow.

Good night!
