Well, you've read the notes, the notes were warm and cozy, and now it is time for you to post until the warm and cozy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SCRUMMY!
-
First post after BK!
-
It is called Black Friday because it is the day in the year when most retailers finally go into the black.
-
I'm watching the Broadway production numbers featured on yesterday's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC.
-
I missed the first part of the parade. I turned it on for Sponge Bob, si I don’t know what I missed.
-
I'm fast-forwarding through everything else.
-
I issued the first part of the parade. I turned it on for Sponge Bob, si I don’t know what I missed.
They also did numbers from Dear Evan Hansen, Anastasia, and Once on This Island.
-
I saw all three of those. I was not impressed.
-
After I get through NBC's broadcast, I'll watch CBS's. They have songs from at least Come From Away and Waitress. I only saw commercials advertising for those two, but I don't know if those are all that will be shown.
-
Good night, George.
-
I saw all three of those. I was not impressed.
I liked SpongeBob SquarePants and Once on This Island more than the other two, but I liked those, too.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Today, I have nothing planned, but I need to do some laundry. We'll see if I get some done this time. ::)
;)
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
T.O.D.
We have free HBO and EPIX this weekend, so I've got a lot of stuff recording.
Last night we watched CREED and several episodes of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM.
-
In CREED, Stallone was at his "Rocky" best. Should have won the Oscar.
I enjoyed the film, but (story-wise) is was really a remake of the original ROCKY, with Stallone doing the Burgess Meredith role. It even had the same ending.
And, I understand, there is a sequel in the works.
-
Good morning to all.
-
Good morning, all.

It is called Black Friday because it is the day in the year when most retailers finally go into the black.
Maybe Green Friday would be better?
Or would people be confused because of St. Patrick's day?
-
vixmom - Do you get comp time on another day when you volunteer to work on the day after Thanksgiving?
-
Good morning.
-
A questions for you all:
Has anyone seen "Hamilton," and what did you think of it?
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept late, to Annabelle's distress. When her stomach alarm goes off, she wants food. I have begun a conscientious effort to broaden Thatch's view of the apartment, which is currently no more than two feet from the cage, his safety zone.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Last year at this time, I was working on The New Yorkers and for the first time in three years I was not living hand to mouth. I honestly believe that at this moment - between Annabelle's vet bills, that damned Ohio property not selling, inertia on doing anything with Moonshine & Mistletoe, and too little work - I am in worse shape than I was two years ago. The anxiety attacks are sharper than I'd like.
So, I hope the overture Joshie, Rob, and I wrote cheers you up!

It just did, thank you. And how timely, because I must play it for Nathan and Kristi. They just recently watched De-Lovely, and say what you will about the movie, they fell in love with Mr. Porter and his songs. They would now so appreciate The New Yorkers .
-
I must make a trip to the post office today or tomorrow. Annabelle has had her eye salve and Clavamox, She's such a finnicky eater, and Thatch is like a garbage disposal: I put anything in front of him and he gobbles it up. He is so cute!
-
That was beautiful, Elmore.
Do you hear the original and then reconstruct it? Or is it an all-new orchestration?
-
After reading all the posts from yesterday AND the notes....I''m hungry again.
I am not going anywhere today.....just watching Japanese Monster Movies all day on the STARZ RETRO channel.... They are the subtitled rather than the dubbed versions, so that is nice!
-
In CREED, Stallone was at his "Rocky" best. Should have won the Oscar.
He was at his Rocky best and, IMHO, gave a better performance than the winner.
-

The original overture is long lost, so this was created new for this production of the show. Rob wrote the transitional material and put it together from the songs. Joshie and I suggested some changes and then he and I sat down together and orchestrated it. After the first band rehearsal, we did a few rewrites.

A questions for you all:
Has anyone seen "Hamilton," and what did you think of it?
I've heard the score.
Not into "rap".
-
Allergies are in overdrive today. I wonder if Cedar has come in.
-
Ragweed and grass. Both killers in my book.
-
vixmom - Do you get comp time on another day when you volunteer to work on the day after Thanksgiving?
When I conducts closing during non work hours I get the closer fee we would normally pay to one of our per diem closers
-
I only saw the Tony performance. I wondered if I should even bother to see it.
I have no doubt that Lin Manuel Miranda is a very nice guy. I've heard great things about him. But I didn't care for the other rap show of his that I saw.
-
This was an old brownstone in Brooklyn, beautiful original woodwork, the doors had to be 12 feet tall and there were beautiful fireplaces in the kitchen and livingroom and ornamental plasterwork around the chandeliers...lovely
-
Out here, Vixmom, that would be demolished and flipped.
-
I wonder if I should go buy a small turkey...maybe just a turkey breast
-
Out here, Vixmom, that would be demolished and flipped.
Wae Ling might quite enjoy Hamilton. The Vixter ( not normally a rap or hip hop fan) loves the OBC
-
A whole turkey. And stuff it. The turkey is just there to hold the stuffing.
-
Out here, Vixmom, that would be demolished and flipped.
Now that would be a real shame...fortunately they are bring saved and restored here
-
A whole turkey. And stuff it. The turkey is just there to hold the stuffing.
That's what I was thinking...on the other hand there are only 2 of us, and neither of us are fond of dark meat
-
vixmom - Do you get comp time on another day when you volunteer to work on the day after Thanksgiving?

Good. I figured it was just part of your base salary.

Nice.
-
I just finished my first plate of leftovers. All very yummy, except I'm not thrilled with the gravy. It's Trader Joe's turkey gravy (it comes in these cute little boxes), to which we added some of our own turkey drippings. Maybe that's our own fault (?), but I just don't find their basic flavor very yummy.
But if I say so myself, my sage sausage/apple/cranberry stuffing and my very creamy/buttery mashed potatoes and my orange/cranberry sauce are fine indeed.
-
That reminds me that DR Jeanne had asked about my shopping trip at TJ's on Sunday. It was fine, and we always do it on the Sunday before, but this year they had run out of a couple of things -- actually a couple of days earlier. Turkey broth for one. I forget what else. But I do like buying a cartload of stuff there for Thanksgiving, even though it must be supplemented at a regular full service supermarket. And it's the only time of year I ever have to stand behind more than one person in line at my store. They move so quickly though, that it's not that big a deal.
-
I had to do some cleaning today, so I moved Thatch's cage with the door open. The move so terrified him that he bolted from the cage and now he's somewhere in the apartment. God knows if we'll ever find him or see him again.
And Annabelle, who was no help filling cartons with things to be tossed - she insists on lying down in the empty cartons while I'm trying to fill them - refuses to help me look for him.
-
Helpful kitties. Finding Thatch vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
HOLIDAY INN the stage version is on PBS tonight. I think I shall watch it.....I hope I like it.

Does TJ sell turkey broth all year round?
-
I walked into the bathroom to find that Thatch had half-buried himself in Annabelle's litter box. He seemed happy that I had found him and happier to be back to his safety zone. I believe Annabelle is still pissed that I fired her. She's retreated to her new bed.

Thank you. They worked!
-
DR Laura, I remain completely underwhelmed by HAMILTON. I'm in the minority of a raving theatre community, I know, but I don't find it's composition inspired, and I detest rap and hip hop. I am happy that it's a big success for its creators, and I would certainly see it if I were given a ticket, but pop music and I parted ways years ago, and I find little to appreciate musically in any of the current pop musicals.
-
The 2017 Trump Christmas card:
-
I have a ticket, but I really have no interest in it. I'd really like to sell the tickets -- something I have NEVER done before. But I think my daughter would like to see it.
-
I'm glad you found Thatch and that he's ok.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I drove over to my favorite food store. I really like their soups and I wanted to stock up for next Monday's dental procedure (yes, another one!). I used to make soup myself and hope to return to that in the not-too-distant future. For now, it's canned, boxed, or freshly made at the store. Of course, I treated myself to one of their almond croissants, too. And a few other things. It's sooo nice to shop when stores aren't mobbed!
-
The music clip was lovely, Elmore. I really wish I could have seen THE NEW YORKERS.
-
Continued adjustment vibes to DK Thatch.
-
I enjoyed the Christmas sound clip, too.
Are there a number of Gay Men's Choruses or just the one?
-
I have a ticket, but I really have no interest in it. I'd really like to sell the tickets -- something I have NEVER done before. But I think my daughter would like to see it.
I don't care for rap, either, but HAMILTON is now a cultural icon.
-
Allergy-Begone vibes to DR John G.
-
Now i must get busy relaxing.
-
Oh, has anyone heard from DR Ron? I hope he hasn't relaxed into oblivion.

TTFN.

There are quite a few. San Francisco was the first.

Still the best thing I’ve seen in the theater this year.
-
Allergy-Begone vibes to DR John G.
Thank you. It’s a Benadryl evening for sure.
-
I find Hamilton exciting even though hip hop/rap isn’t my thing.
-
Got up at noon - nine hours of sleep and the alarm didn't go off. I went to the garage and luckily and fortuitously found the box of Kritzerland music and right on top was last year's holiday show. So, that made the new pianist's work much easier as we're doing 80% of those songs again and all that music is marked as to arrangements and keys.
-
New pianist seems fine to me.
-

That's good news.

Watching a strange drive-in type picture called Van Nuys Blvd. complete with sex jokes and plenty of nudity, yet it has a very sweet heart.
-

People here might find buying your tickets and flying there cheaper at this point than getting tickets in New York. :)
I'm glad I saw it during previews, when it was still possible to get a ticket for the regular price!
-
BK - When you were cleaning up the Kritzerland stuff during the move, did you notice whether you still had any of the "Last Starfighter" booklets left?
-
Hello!
-
Belated Thanksgiving greetings!
-
DR Laura--I'm not a fan of rap or hiphop either, but I did enjoy Hamilton. There are a couple of more traditional Broadway songs.
-

Same here. A really terrific show and afternoon.
-
Friday evening greetings! It’s been a nice day here at Laura’s. We arrived just as she and her dad were heading out to Menard’s, so Richard went along. When they came home we had turkey and bacon sandwiches for lunch and then Laura and her mom and I went to her basement papercrafting studio. Laura’s friend Sue joined us and we all crafted until almost 6pm. There’s a photo on my Facebook page, but I don’t have the computer I need to make it show up here. If anyone else can do that, I’d appreciate it.
-
Started The Law, a French-Italian film with Gina Lolabrigida, Yves Montand, Marcello Mastroiani, Melina Mercouri and more. Fascinating, unsettling.
-
Let's move on!
-
Four!
-
Page four? Really?

Here you go, Ginny.
-
That’s quite the basement workshop.
-
Nice pic DR Ginny. Thank you DR John for sharing it here.
-
That’s quite the basement workshop.
It sure is.
-
That’s quite the basement workshop.
Yes, it is. My sister took this photo from the card table where she was working and Sue, whose work is across from mine, was over at the die-cutting station. My brother-in-law has done a lot of the construction for the studio.
Thanks, DR John G, for sharing the photo for me.

Good evening.

Wae-Ling, my daughter, and I had a productive day of doing nothing.

Joshie and I suggested some changes and then he and I sat down together and orchestrated it. After the first band rehearsal, we did a few rewrites.
I am just now listening to it, lovely indeed :)
-
First we watched Peter Pan by the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, which Wae-Ling enjoyed very much.
-
Then we watched Forever Plaid, the movie, which didn't translate to movie well at all. I wish they would have kept the camera still longer than 5 seconds at a time.
-
Then we watched the Leslie Ann Warren version of Cinderella.
-
Then the clip of the re-do from a few years ago on the Tony Awards.
-
I have a ticket, but I really have no interest in it. I'd really like to sell the tickets -- something I have NEVER done before. But I think my daughter would like to see it.
How many tickets do you have, two or three? It seems Mae-Ling wants to see it.
-
A question about quick changes led to watching Kelly O'Hara's quick change in King and I.
-
Then I asked if she'd like to watch a clip from Hamilton.
-
"Hamilton! Hamilton!" she said.
-
And she sang (rapped?) along with the actors.
-
So, I guess I won't be seeing Hamilton when it tours.
-
Wae-Ling, my daughter, and I had a productive day of doing nothing.
One of my favorite kinds of days. I'm afraid I won't know the feeling until January.
-
Had tuna sandwiches for the meal o' the day, picked up a couple of packages (screeners arriving regularly now, not a one of which I have any real interest in, and have been relaxing and listening to music. Now I'll make some popcorn and watch something.
-
So, I guess I won't be seeing Hamilton when it tours.
;D
-
The mail today: my new winter boots (ordered from Columbia Sportswear) and The Red Shoes!
-
Do the boots fit?
-
Have to answer that tomorrow. Too tired to check them out now.
-
I can understand waiting until tomorrow to try them on. Good luck you are happy with them.
-
Thank goodness someone has gotten The Red Shoes - the Indiegogos were the last to go out, but this is the first one I've heard of that's actually arrived.
-
Time for Benadryl.
-
Good night, all.
-
Five!
-
Nice clips DR ELMORE!
-
I liked the costumes in HOLIDAY INN very much....and some of the dancing was quite entertaining.
The leading lady had that AWFUL high singing voice that sets my teeth on edge....and....well....actually all four of the leads were fairly plain looking.... The "Mary Wickes" steal was fine....she did a nice job....
All in all....a nice show.....but I like the movie better.
-
I'm home and watching (and recording to my DVD burner) PBS's broadcast of "Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn."
-

My mom made it. She got the recipe from someone she knows.
It sounds good.
-
I decided to watch one of the screeners I had no interest in - well, it turned out to be a wonderful film and I doubt I'll see a better one this year (not that I've seen all that much this year) - it's called Wonderstruck - it's worth seeking out and the fact that this film's reviews have all been nitpicky poorly written and missing everything about the film, well, it's sadly typical. Only Kenneth Turan in the LA Times gets it just right. And the imdb idiots are, of course, worse than the critics.
-
Good evening.
-
I did very little today, except sleep.
-
I think I was still in a rich-food coma from yesterday.
-
Yesterday I had three desserts.
-
I had pumpkin cheesecake (homemade), followed my pumpkin ice cream (homemade), and finished it off with pumpkin pie (from scratch).
-
Well, that was fun! I really enjoyed Holiday Inn. :)
-
The pumpkin cheesecake wins by a whisker over the pie, because it was made with the canned pumpkin and the pie was made with fresh pumpkin.
-

Homemade pumpkin ice cream? I've never had that. It sounds delish!
-
I was raised on pie made from the canned pumpkin, so I prefer it.
-
All three were wonderful.

Today I was still too full to eat very much of the leftovers.
