Title: KRITZERLAND AT STERLING'S 84
Post by: bk on January 08, 2018, 12:39:09 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Kritzerland at Sterling's 84, and now it is time for you to post until the eighty-four cows come home.

The Golden Globes were okay last night.

I think it was a mistake to bring Kirk Douglas out on stage.

Yes, he should be honored, but is that the image of him you want to remember?

Just my opinion....

Of course, lest we be spared even a little bit of pain and heartbreak on the way to our reward, there's to be a brief passing of some snow showers possibly mixed with some sleet this afternoon.  It'll get here just in time for the rush hour.  Supposed to be less than an inch of whatever lands on the ground, and they'd better not go over that.

I had a lot of family dreams last night:  in one, my mother was baking my brother Randy a birthday cake, a chocolate sponge cake filled with cherries. In the other, my brother Macbeth and I went shopping for a new suit sonce the wool one I was wearing was full of moth holes.  There was something about driving on a country road, being stuck behind a car making a left turn, but it's too vague now.

In one of these dreams, or possibly another, my two brothers and I were re-arrangig the bedroom we shared before my dad converted the attic into bedrooms.,

I was wondering at that time whether that's what's behind Doris Day's unusual decision to not make more public appearances, meaning maybe there's a memory she'd prefer that the fans forever have of her.

So, of course I got a call at 8 saying the surgery time was changed. I now have to be there at 5 am. Also, the surgery planner contradicted his own paperwork and said I should not take my decongestant. I hope I don’t subconsciously sneeze through the procedure.

So last night Rob was at work, Mary Linda was sleeping, and Richard and I were watching the Golden Globes in the family room at the back of the house.  Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon were bantering and, from the front of the house, we heard a crash and breaking glass.

That's one way to get a Christmas tree down:

This is the kids' live cut tree.  What you can't see is that there was water all over the floor, along with broken ornaments and a gazillion pine needles.  Of course, Mary Linda woke up and the three of us cleaned up as best we could.  They lost a few ornaments, but it could have been a lot worse.

Richard and I will use a more conventional method to get rid of our artificial tree in the family room...

Jane, yes, 192KB is the largest that the file size can be.  It's misleading, though.  It says "Restrictions: 4 per post, maximum total size 192KB, maximum individual size 256KB."  But the individual maximum is actually 192KB.  I think that the website owners should change the wording.  Maybe BK should let them know that it's not correct. :-\

We are supposed to get rain tomorrow, and we are all very excited about it.

We usually get a lot of rain in December; this year we had one rain of about a quarter-inch. That's the only rain since August.

DR JANE I just post directly from FaceBook....even if they are over the size limit, they post.

I use the brackets and img method that DR GEORGE taught here many years ago.....you can also use that method with photos from the inner web.

If I want to post one of my photos, I put it on FaceBook first, it's easier that way.

I had NO interest in watching the Golden Globes last night and listen to all the POLITICAL patter and jokes.....and listening to Oprah lecture us in the same tone of voice she uses to sell Weight Watchers crappy food.....or hear Deb Messing get on her high horse about something she knows NOTHING about.....

Well, there we disagree.  There are so many apathetic asses in this country that if someone protesting or speaking out reaches one of those folk and possibly makes them less apathetic, especially in a country turning toward fascism, it's all to the good.  I am aware as well that there are a lot of celebrities who should keep their mouths shut.  That's why god invented remote controls and the on-off switch.

I have an app on my phone that can resize photos if they're too large a file size (192KB) to post through HHW's "Attachments and other options" link when you preview a post.  Otherwise, I only hot-link from existing photos already on the Internet

Is 192KB the file size I need to reduce to?

DR Jrand when you share my photos how do you do it?

Same question to DR Chas who shares kitty photos, and to anyone who is still putting personal photos up.

While he is at it maybe he can just ask that we have a larger file so that all our photos don't have to be downsized ;)

There's another website that I frequent that is based on the same website format as HHW, and their file restrictions are "4 per post, maximum total size 192KB, maximum individual size 128KB."  So at least here, we have a larger file size option than that other site.

Interesting...but then how would your computer (or mine at work, which has extra security) know that you (or I) even have a FB account if you (or I) aren't logged in?  It's a conundrum wrapped inside an enigma.

Yes, it would be great if you could come!  The info for making free reservations:

RSVP at least a day in advance (or much sooner) by calling 212/714-7628, or e-mailing TRUVoicesSeries@gmail.com

or you can reserve online at the TRU site.
https://truonline.org/events/viva-max-reading/

It says the evening runs form 7 to 10, but don;t worry - it's not a 3-hour show!   The reading will be over by 9, then a short break, then a panel discussion which should be over by 10.

True DR ELMORE - that's why I use the off button.....  And why I rarely mention politics here.....free speech is great.  I appreciate when people express opinions.

Whether I agree or disagree is really not important.....it is interesting to read other points of view.  At times, such words make me think or reconsider - or entrench my opinion even more deeply in my poor brain....

I had some things in my wish list, but nothing that I really wanted.  A few weeks ago, I noticed that the points could be redeemed for gift cards from Best Buy!  Finally, something that I could actually use!

This weekend, I received the physical cards in the mail and tonight I looked around Best Buy's website and decided to get an 8TB (that's terabyte!) external hard drive.  Do I actually need an 8TB external hard drive?  Not really...but I'll probably never have to get another external hard drive ever.

The full price was $300, they had it on sale for $160, and I had $150 in gift cards from redeeming my debit card points AND an additional $30 Best Buy gift card from my niece.  It cost me NOTHING! :D I LOVE it when that happens!

Also, I didn't have to order it and wait for it to be shipped.  The local Best Buy had it in stock.  I ordered it on-line to have it picked up.  I left work and it was waiting for me.  I just got it and left.  Pretty cool system. :)

I hate to sound stupid but what exactly is an external hard drive?
