Well, you've read the notes, the notes, like Levi, arrived, and now it is time for you to post until the arrived cows come home.

Today, I'm not sleeping in. :( I'm choosing to go to work and make up time that I lost because of Communicating Doors' tech week.  I have a great tendency to nickel-and-dime my time away (vacation time, that is), and I'd like to build it back up a bit, so I'm going into work.  It'll pretty much be just like a regular work day with regular hours (a little less than usual, though), a lunch break, then to the theater for tonight's performance.  It's just all on a Saturday.

I tried to sleep in, but two hungry kitties did everything to prevent that, beginning around 5:30.  I foiled them until 7:30, when I finally capitulated.  They've had their chicken liver paté and Annabelle's waiting on the birds.

Nursie, I am really enjoying Mary Berry's book.  It's poorly edited with a lot of grammatical errors but it's full of spirit and seems as generous and genuine as Miss Berry seems to be on the telly.  The photos are great.

TOD:

I rarely have bread at the house, but in late summer I love to make an open-faced tomato sandwich on sourdough with a little mayo, fresh dill and the best tomato you can find.

When I eat a sandwich out, I usually prefer chicken salad, and I, too, am a purist. Nothing sweet like grapes, chutney, raisins or sugar in it. I had a chicken salad sandwich when I was in the hospital recently. All it was was chicken and mayo. But the mayo was so sweet (probably Helmann's) and there was so much of it that I couldn't eat it.

I'm also fond of ham and Swiss on rye or sourdough with butter on the bread and a little onion (pickled is better).

I almost had a stroke at the pharmacy.  My ophthalmologist's two prescriptions, with my copays, comes to around $20.  In December he added one more, which I picked up today.  With my copay, the drug was $131.00.  I just sent him a message informing him that I would not be purchasing it again.

You did not have to purchase it today.  Hopefully it will be worth the cost and you will find it helpful.  With luck your ophthalmologist will have samples you can use, or prescribe a drug that is as effective & costs less.

My medications usually cost more at the beginning of the year and go down in cost as the year progresses and I use my deductible.

I make egg salad sandwiches at home and order them out.  I like Hellman's but know what DR John is talking about.  I gag when it seems the salad is more mayo than egg.

I like a sandwich made with Grillers which is a soy pattie.  I use may, avocado, tomato, and cabbage instead of lettuce.  When Keith grew Wala Wala sweet onions I also added sliced, fresh from the garden, onions.

The six weeks we lived in hotels during our move here it began to get difficult eating protein & I got tired of eating egg salad.

There is a lunch place near us we like and I did eat their chicken salad sandwich with red onion, pineapple, almonds, cranberries, mixed with our herbed mayo.  I suppose DR John would not like it but we thought it was exceptional.

I've done a little over three pages.  Now I'll get ready to visit Richard Sherman - I'll try to do one more page, then I can do three more when I get back, and then seven more after dinner.  After tonight, I think I'll be in the last fifty pages or so.

The two guys at the next table were television writers and that's all they talked about. When I lived in the DC area, I'd go out to lunch and the people around me--all total strangers--would be having conversations that could have some out of the mouths of my coworkers and I. It was a bit eerie at times. Here in LA, the same thing happens, but of course it's Hollywood talk. Much of the conversation from the guys yesterday was very similar to what BK and I talk about.

For those who remember the end of Frears’ Dangerous Liaisons and the image of Glenn Close, there’s a companion shot at the end of Cheri of Michelle Pfeiffer. It’s like a bookend. Very powerful. Sadly, the rest of the movie wasn’t anywhere near as good.

I like a club sandwich with ham and turkey and bacon and cheese and lettuce and tomato.....when I go out.  And sometimes I make them at home.   On toast of course.

I love a good double cheeseburger with lettuce tomato and dill pickle.   At home or away....

A ham sandwich with cheese lettuce and mayo at home is always easy to make.....usually on toasted white bread.

I've been watching the 1997 BBC production of Tom Jones.  It's quite a lot of fun and the cast is wonderful.  Most seem to have been cast for their resemblance to the Tony Richardson film cast.  Since it's five hours long, it's much more faithful to Fielding's novel, and there are a lot more characters.  It does give me a great appreciation for John Osborne's wonderfully swift and funny screenplay.  Since this is the BBC, 1997, and not 1964, there's a good bit of nudity as well.

Eight pages so far - I had a creative spurt, I must say.  I was puzzling over a structural issue and when I figured that out it led me to a nice place.  So dinner in thirty minutes then I'll come home and write another six or seven pages.  I can pretty much see now how the entire last fifty pages will play out structurally, so that's excellent.

I almost had a stroke at the pharmacy.  My ophthalmologist's two prescriptions, with my copays, comes to around $20.  In December he added one more, which I picked up today.  With my copay, the drug was $131.00.  I just sent him a message informing him that I would not be purchasing it again.

Augh!!!

Back from a really wonderful visit with Richard Sherman.  Got everything signed, and to see his face when he heard the ten-minute opening number for Levi was incredible.  He was very emotional.

That's lovely.  I am so glad  you were able yo make this happen for him

The 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle has mounted their own production of MAMA MIA that plays the month of February.  I decided I really wanted to see the production.  Unfortunately, there is not a single wheelchair accessible seat available for the entire run.
