Well, you've read the notes, the notes were full, and now it is time for you to post until the full cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BASTION!
-
Oh, my goodness! I can barely keep my eyes open. Today, my friend Margo and I are going to see Ready Player One in IMAX 3D. It got a 74% on Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/ready_player_one)...not bad. We'll meet for lunch then go to the movie. After that, I've got a couple of hours before I meet my friend Christine for dinner before tonight's rehearsal for Cinder Edna. Christine is also in the show, so that'll be fun. :)
-
Well, good night and have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
It's been cold in Austin the past few days.
My wife put the heat on this morning, which is unusual for her.
Currently, I'm reading Maureen O'Hara's autobiography, 'TIS HERSELF.
It's one of the best show biz autobiographies I've read in one time.
-
Thanks for the emoticon last night, George!

JohnG, i guess that's the thing about outdoor events. especially here, where a movie is readily available on video anyway. But it was fun to have as one of our promo things, and certainly lots of work but enjoyable getting the CDs to them, and the Film Commission was so nice - and glad they didn't cancel it. And given the weather, a good thing we didn't end up getting a number video'd for the event (which we didn't try to encourage kind of by luck, because part of the TRU team was too busy on another project to answer emails timely). So once in a while, "team member" not answering proves to be a good thing. (only kidding, that's never a good thing. :) )
Did they just say, as they'd sort-of indicated (since the talk part of the program was already promoted to be about the documentary when Skip and I heard about the event), there's a musical out there, the story lives on, here's the CD.
-
This is the 10-minute trailer for Jim Mendiola's documentary. (Mr. Lehrer is interviewed in the trailer.)
10-minute trailer - "Making Viva Max!" re shooting of the movie
https://vimeo.com/238509897 (this is the whole 10-minute trailer)
I see here https://events.trinity.edu/event/latinx_heritage_month_jim_mendiola#.WqNOerY-KbU
that it says the whole "Making Viva Max!" documentary is scheduled for broadcast in 2018, per the info at that link
-
Do people (I guess of the people that braved the awful weather) seem to know the connection of Jim Lehrer, who actually is a grad of the Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, to the "Viva Max!" piece - that doesn't seem to be even pointed out in much of the promotion for the event?
(Lots of people who didn't know before seem to find the Jim Lehrer / San Antonio connection fascinating when we talk about the musical.)
-
JohnG, thanks again! It was so appreciated!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I fed the cats at 7 and went back to bed for two hours. I needed the sleep.
-
As soon as she and Thatch were finished watching the birds, Annabelle climbed onto my night stand and tossed everything off it. including a glass half-filled with water. she got a spanking.
-
I went back to bed, and almost immediately later I heard the sound of everything getting tossed off the refrigerator. By the time I got to the kitchen, everything was on the floor and there was no cat in sight. She's evil.
-
Shortly thereafter, she and Thatch curled up beside me. Annabelle stayed with me until 9:00. Thatch kept jumping up to run off and play with his toys.
-
So, now I'm dressed and on my first cuppa coffee. IO will empty the litter and take Annabelle for her building patrol. She's showing signs that she knows we're running late for this. Then I must empty the vacuum cleaner and vacuum. Then I have to give some serious thought to a poem from 1919 and note down my thoughts about it.
-
DR TCB, it was nice to see the handsome Nicky last night. How's he feeling?
-
I'm thinking about walking a block this afternoon to see "Love, Simon." There's a show at 2:00. If I do not go today, I may tomorrow.
-
If Charlotte were in town, I'd ask her to be my date. She's in Texas doing a production of Man of La Mancha with her father.
-
Good morning!
-
Good morning, all.
-
The sun is bright and it's looking so nice outside, but the temperature just refuses to go up. Today's high will be around 42.
I do see some promise of change, a bloody WEEK from now...
-
A Sunday free for all kind of question for the class:
A Year With Frog and Toad
I know it not, as of yet, but there's some interest in mounting a small production up here. Anyone who's seen it in NYC or elsewhere, or knows it to any degree, I'd love to know what you think of it.

Mendiola said he would finish the documentary this year for broadcast next year.
They mentioned that the musical was being written and this was the sampler CD.

Sweet score. Kind of like children’s theater on Broadway.

I did. I saw Jim Lehrer at the Book and Author luncheon the newspaper used to sponsor. My friend Bonnie used to live near Jefferson, so I would drive by it almost every time I’d visit.
There was some rumbling last night when it came up so maybe not everyone knew. Everyone did know the story of Ozzy Osborne getting arrested for urinating on the Alamo.
-
Good morning.
-
I went for a walk this morning. It is too hot here way too early. The weather people say we will have our first 100-degree day this week.
-
I haven't see Rex this morning. He is probably in with Sandra. I don't think he is going to pull through this.
-
Nice photo of Nicky last night!
I am getting ready for Round Two of ANNIE Auditions this afternoon.
It is amazing how many people ignore a sign telling them where the auditions are and come in the wrong door, wander around the theater, and then they complain that they can't find us......about HALF the people. So I think I will LOCK that door today and make another sign with an ARROW!
There were TWO signs saying where to go....well not THERE - and BIG sawhorse type sign that said AUDITIONS HERE....by the correct door....
-
Page Two.
I shall return.....

I don't know why, but that reminded me of those (maybe joke) announcements on meeting places, like:
"Weight Watchers meeting in the recreation room. Use the double doors to your left."

Good luck, General.

Thanks DR CHAS SMITH.
HA! DR FJL.
-
DR JANE I don't know anyone else who even remembers the movie. I had to look it up to see who played the "other guy" - James Farentino. I thought Julie Sommers was very good....she's the reason I started watching THE GOVERNOR AND JJ....
-
OMG Julie Sommers was married to Stu Erwin Jr.......
-
My easy morning turned into one from hell. I had to clean the vacuum, and I will never again purchase one with no vacuum bag. Anyway, I ended up with crap and schmutz all over myself and the kitchen floor. I ended up vacuuming, mopping the floors, and throwing all the clothes I was wearing into the laundry hamper. Tomorrow, laundry.
-
I haven't see Rex this morning. He is probably in with Sandra. I don't think he is going to pull through this.
Looks like Crayola got adopted, DR Laura.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Must get ready for the noon meeting now.
-
I am happy for Crayola, Elmore. I'm glad she got a home.
-
I saw on Facebook that there was a cat adoption at the 82nd Street Barnes & Noble. so i walked over for a look. I was ready to bring a 4-month old brown and white tabby or a little black and white tuxedo home with me, but I resisted the impulse. The little tuxedo wouldn't stop crying, It, the little tabby, and an older cat twice the size of Annabelle, wanted human contact so badly. They were so friendly.
I hope they're all adopted today.
-
They will get adopted, Elmore. You can't take them all.
-
I miss having a cat, but my dog would not tolerate one.
:(
-
Sunday evening greetings! Fr. Richard was substitute priest in Dayton today, so Rob and Mary Linda went to church with us. I’ve taken it easy all afternoon, including a long nap in my recliner.
-
This past week was very social for me - a family dinner last Sunday, ladies’ gatherings on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, church last Sunday and today, and lunch Friday with a former co-worker. I love my family and friends, but have enjoyed the quiet time today.
-
I was at church before 8, set up the altar, then made 6 pots of coffee, set up coffee hour, poured 24 cups of juice, made up 24 cups of pretzels, cut up 5 cakes, 24 mini bagels, and artfully (well not so much maybe) arranged the contents of 2 boxes of Girl Scout cookies on a platform
-
It's been a long day.
-
As I slid into the front pew next to my Mom at 8:59 as the first chords of theopen hymn were playing she whispered , "it's about time you got here , I started to think you weren't coming to church today "
-
She parked next to my car
-
::) ::)
-
After church, I spoke to Mom. Dad has been sleeping most of the time lately and isn't interested in doing much. They got another inch of snow yesterday, but it thankfully has melted. Still, she seems content not to go anywhere.
-
Then I went dancing for awhile. Competition coming up on April 21.
-
Then after church I reset the altar and the baptism font for the 10:30 service , then went to serve coffee and cake
-
Then I managed to get some work done on the back yard while I put a load of laundry in.
-
Then I cleaned up and reset coffee hour for the after 10:30 crowd and was spelled by one of the ladies from the Misa crowd, Josefina. For the past 2 years She has very kindly taken over the cleaning up of the kitchen after the last service allowing me to get home hours earlier than I used to
-
I planted several herbs, some in the ground, some in larger pots. These were plants someone gave me for free and there are things in there I've never tried before. Two loofahs, one lavender, one rosemary, one spearmint, one oregano and one thyme. There's one parsley left. I need to get a pot for it.
-
Then I reset halter for the 11:45 Misa and cleared up the baptismal font area and went to an assisting minister meeting
-
Let's move on.
-
Three!
-
Finally by 1 pm I got home

It's been cold in Austin the past few days.
My wife put the heat on this morning, which is unusual for her.
Currently, I'm reading Maureen O'Hara's autobiography, 'TIS HERSELF.
It's one of the best show biz autobiographies I've read in one time.
Wow, and interesting.
-
I'm starting to watch a miniseries based on The Dain Curse with James Coburn and a huge all-star cast. I missed this when it aired way back when and am glad to get the chance to see it. I have read the Hammett novel, though it was so long ago that I don't remember much about it and wouldn't know how faithful it is.

Is that the one where she claimed she happened upon John Wayne and John Ford kissing?

Yesterday when Vixdad and I went to IHOP I ordered their new King Hawaiian rolls French toast sandwich , with ham, Swiss cheese and ligonberries . It was supposed to have scrambled eggs as well but instead I had eggs over easy on the side
-
I could only eat half and I didn't touch the accompanying home fries so I brought those home
-
They heated up beautifully in the toaster oven and that was my brunch
-

Vibes and prayers for your family, John

I haven't see Rex this morning. He is probably in with Sandra. I don't think he is going to pull through this.
I am sorry. I thought he was doing better. :(
-
Laura I am happy you have such a lovely pharmacist
-
DR JANE I don't know anyone else who even remembers the movie. I had to look it up to see who played the "other guy" - James Farentino. I thought Julie Sommers was very good....she's the reason I started watching THE GOVERNOR AND JJ....
Keith also remembers it well :)
She is also the reason I watched THE GOVERNOR AND JJ. I enjoyed the MATLOCK episodes when she was in them.
-
Then I went dancing for awhile. Competition coming up on April 21.
Keith's birthday.
-
DR Laura I am glad the pharmacist helped you with a free syringe.
-
DR John, I am glad your mother is content to stay home.
-
DR VIXMOM is changing the halter anything like stripping the altar?
-
Vibes for the father of DR JOHN G.
-
We had exactly enough chairs for everyone.....until four people from yesterday decided they just HAD to come back today.....I found a bench for them to sit on.....
Most of the ugly little girls decided to come today....there were some good adults....and we finished only 10 minutes late!
Director Caroline asked me if I wanted to stay to help them cast the show, but I said.....no thank you! My cousin's two grand daughters came today.....they both read VERY well....and one of them sang very well....I'm sure the dancing was no problem.
I think I will be playing Sgt. Ward and Franklin D. Roosevelt. I locked the door in case DR TCB was trying to get in the building.
-
LOL DR JANE - that's three of us then.
I didn't watch MATLOCK although I saw an episode now and then and would remember how much I liked Julie....some performers just have something that draws me to them.....she is one of them....
Brian and Julie in the movie DR JANE are talking about:

Page three? Really?
-
Had a very productive and good lunch meeting - two hours of it. But I gave all my thoughts about what I felt wasn't working for me and by the end of it we'd figured out all of the main ones that should really now help focus this and get us both on the same page.
-
I came home, did some work, then went to Ralph's for a couple of light, calorie-friendly snacks for this night.
-
It's nice to be on the same page....with collaborators.
-
The Dain Curse is proving to be really good.
-
DR VIXMOM is changing the halter anything like stripping the altar?
It is a special altar guild secret and I cannot tell you unless you first wash and iron several dozen linen purificators

Hello
-
Vixdad took me out for drive since the weather was sunny and fine.
-
We ended the drive at a homemade ice cream shop
-
Their special today was a three scoop sundae with two toppings, whipped cream and a cherry served in a waffle bowl
-
We had dinner at 10:30 pm
-
Page four? Really?
-
Finished with my viewing.

The Dain Curse is proving to be really good.

Library. Great cast. James Coburn, Jean Simmons, Macauley McCourt, Hector Elizondo, Jason Miller, Beatrice Straight.
-
Just finished my taxes. Turbo Tax was a major league irritation this year. They kept saying on my freelance writing that if I didn't have a business name, I could leave the line blank but it wouldn't let me file without typing something. After 20 different repeats of the same, I finally type Blank into the blank.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100.

Gimme. Now.
Please.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night, John G. Thanks again for being at the event last night.

Do you say Break a leg to dancers?

:o
That was clever of you.
-
I ate too much today which is not the way to lose 3 pounds, guess it will be 4 pounds tomorrow.
-
I wasn't too bad today, calorie-wise.

Oh, my goodness! I can barely keep my eyes open. Today, my friend Margo and I are going to see Ready Player One in IMAX 3D. We saw Ready Player One in IMAX 3D and both really liked it.
-
The special effects were very good, and we both thought that it had a good script. Margo didn't realize that Stephen Spielberg directed it.
-
I haven't read the book, but I just placed a hold on OverDrive for the Kindle version. I'm number 100 on 10 copies. :o
-
Afterward, I came home for a bit before meeting my friend and co-Cinder Edna actor Christine for dinner at a new place downtown called Well 80 (http://well80.com). I had the Impossible Drive-In Burger: "Zero meat, 100% all-natural plant-based Burger, and you won’t know the difference (thanks, science!)" It was REALLY good.
-
I also had the salad, which I didn't realize cost extra. It turns out that you can "Add Fries, Tots, House Salad, or Soup to any Burger or Sandwich" for an extra $2.00. The salad was just some greens, literally three walnut halves, and dressing (which they got wrong). I asked for ranch and the sent something else. At least it was on the side. But definitely not worth it.
-
Another co-Cinder Edna actor showed up later and she had the beef burger and really liked it, too. She had (and shared) the tater tots, and they were very good, too.
-
Even though the salad wasn't worth it, I'll definitely be going back to try the beef burger, or maybe even get the non-meat burger again. :D
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Three hours later? Really?
-
And the server wasn't as attentive as he could've been. Christine said that she'd read on Yelp that their servers were hit and miss...of course, they only opened a couple of weeks ago, so that could've been part of the problem. We'll see when I go back.
-

-
Hi, Tom.
-
Tonight I watched my two new favorite shows.
-
INSTINCT and DECEPTION.
-
After eating, we went to rehearsal and staged the opening number. I enter, stand a little right of center on the upstage platform, sing the parts of the number that I sing, freeze when I'm not singing, then exit. We ran that a few times, then I was done for the evening.
-
Both of them are basically variations on the plot of CASTLE.
-
But both of them have enjoyable casts of regulars and, so far, the writing has been clever.
-
INSTINCT stars Alan Cummings as a gay former CIA agent and author of a best-selling book on abnormal behavior who gets hooked up with NYPD Homicide detective.
-
DECEPTION stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as a superstar magician (and his falsely imprisoned twin brother) who helps the FBI solve cases.
-
Hi, George.
-
Anyway, those programs fill-up two hours of my Sunday evening viewing.
-
CRANBERRIES!
-
Positive vibes to DR John’s parents.
-
Tomorrow I am having lunch with my friend, Diane.
-
It is supposed to be the one warm and dry day of the whole week.
-
A high temperature of 65+ degrees.
-
Oh, I think Jane already mentioned tomorrow’s weather forecast.
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Thanks for the emoticon last night, George!
You're welcome, Fred!

I really enjoy the cast recording, and Olympia Family Theater (who's doing Cinder Edna right now) did a great production a few years ago.
