Well, you've read the notes, the notes were windy, and now it is time for you to post until the windy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AEGIS!
-
Hello Friday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I was awakened way too early by one Mr. Troublemaker, who seemed to think that 6:30 in the a.m. would be a simply grand time for breakfast.
-
I was just as glad, though, to be pulled out of an annoying, repeating dream that was destined to go on forever without outside intervention.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
A Place to Call Home, Season 5, and Carola, a play by Jean Renoir with Leslie Caron.
-
The dream just prior to the repetitious and annoying one was an amazing creation of location and weather phenomena that was without a doubt influenced by my having watched the first two episodes of THE TERROR shortly before retiring.
-
Sorry to hear about the Vixter’s accident!
-
Glad to hear that The Vixter is okay......goodbye, Pontiac!
-
Getting the package vibes for MR BK!
-
Today I am getting a port flush, which is pretty much like a blood draw - only they don't take any blood out.
Has to be done every 6-8 weeks unless I have a scheduled blood draw....so then THAT will be over.
-
There is NO rehearsal tonight, so that is a GOOD thing.
-
I think that MR BK must be working on a musical version of ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN which, in it's own way, is as complex as SOUTH PACIFIC.....
-
So, today and tomorrow we are to be blessed with two (count ‘em) days of pleasant warm weather, 70 or a little above, then we return to the same old late winter doldrums in the 40s for the foreseeable future.
-
Have a happy and safe Friday the 13th, everyone! :)
-
Great weather here today as well......
My telescope which is mostly used as a coat and hat rack just decided to fall over and dump all my hats on the floor....so there....
-
TOD
BK mentioned UNDERWORLD U.S.A. I still have to finish that one! (Shameful.)
After hearing so many good comments about the AMC series THE TERROR, I made the commitment to it last night by watching the first two episodes. It’s pretty great so far, and I’m told it only gets better. But I’m a sucker for all things Arctic (and Antarctic) like this.
I need to get some music playing here. Don’t know what yet.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I got up at 7:00, fed the babies, and went back to bad. I'm feeling a bit under the weather; not sick, just not brimming with energy.
-
Annabelle, who's a good nurse, crawled into bed and stayed with me until I decided just before 9:00 that it was time to start moving. Not to be outdone, Thatch jumped in and lay on my chest.
-
Good description, DR Elmore. It is indeed a low energy kind of day.
-
As soon as I make the bed, tidy up, and empty the litter, I will patrol with Annabelle, have some breakfast, and get back to How To Succeed . . .
-
DR Vixmom, I'n happy the Vixter is okay. Will insurance replace the car?
-
I have the impression from this morning's reviews for the misguided Carousel that very few of the critics know the show, its source - Molnar's Liliom - or the score, only the rumors of how bad it is in its spousal abuse issues. Only Matt Windman of amnewyork.com seems informed.
-
From a 3.5-star review of the movie, Jeanette, a rock opera about Joan of Arc’s childhood:
Imagine a cross between Annie and Jesus Christ Superstar, only with more speed metal.
-
Duly noted.
-
Perhaps you could incorporate some speed metal into your production of Annie, JRAND.
-
Let’s move on...
-
Two!
-
I am not sure what speedmetal is, but I am all for it.....
-
Speaking of cats - White Kitty from across the street came running when I went out the door this morning to go to the doctor....he's still looking for Precious to take our usual morning walk....
She used to ignore him, he would run ahead of us and lie on the sidewalk waiting for me to pet him....so I would....Precious would just walk around him as if he wasn't there....
-
Has anyone tried Mayochup?

It sounds like 1000 Island dressing without seasoning.

T.O.D.
Plenty of stuff recorded. No idea what we might watch.
-
Last night, we watched UNDERCURRENT with Katharine Hepburn, Robert Taylor and Robert Mitchum.
It's one of Taylor's best performances. He made a great heavy...particularly when his character was crazy.
-
Just posting this one to get to 7800.
:D
-
And here's today's cover for the Daily News.
-
Here you are, sir.
-
Relieved to have heard Vixter is Ok before hearing about the accident!
-
Perhaps you could incorporate some speed metal into your production of Annie, JRAND.
Maybe metal can be snuck into "It's a Hard Rock Life."
-
These words form ANNIE run through my head with the Comey book stuff:
If he should need the F B I
Then he will HAVE the F B I
-
I don't know if it's accurate, but this was an interesting summary of OKLAHOMA by "PlayWiz," who in real life is a wonderful actor who i saw in a play last year:
In "Oklahoma!", Jud is killed because of events that passive-aggressive Laurey sets off by using him to provoke jealousy in Curly.
-
Friday afternoon greetings! It's a "low energy" day for me, too. I intentionally left my calendar blank for today and even have dinner lined up - homemade pizza. So far, I've roasted a new supply of almonds, pre-baked our pizza crusts, and read quite a bit of Clementine: The Life of Mrs. Winston Churchill. Watching Darkest Hour last week made me want to read the book some of my friends had raved about last year.
-
Has anyone tried Mayochup?

That was my exact thought, DR Jane.
-
Last night Richard and I met up with Rebecca and several hundred other people at the Hamilton Campus of Miami University for a lecture by journalist and presidential biographer Jon Meacham. He was funny, serious, and very thought-provoking. I have not read any of this books, but used to read his columns when he was at Newsweek.
-
There is NO rehearsal tonight, so that is a GOOD thing.
Ditto and DITTO! :D

Great weather here today as well......
My telescope which is mostly used as a coat and hat rack just decided to fall over and dump all my hats on the floor....so there....
:o Hopefully, it's not broken.

HERE (https://www.amny.com/entertainment/carousel-review-1.18000977) is his review.

I'm up, I'm up - happy to say eight hours of sleep.

-
The better than expected Carousel reviews don't really surprise me - I think some of these critics are very aware when the word on the various boards is bad and they go out of their way to be contrary. Because not one of the better reviews mentions the cuts and changes to the show.
-
Cuts and changes in CAROUSEL?
-
Congrats to DR DRUXY on his millstone.
-
DR GINNY weren't you going to the foot doctor? I did I read that post without my glasses?
-
I hope our choreographer doesn't read your post DR FJL.
-
Yes.....the FBI lines suddenly become very relevant again....in an entirely new way.
-
I am glad that the Vixter is okay.
-
A lull. ::)

Topic of the Day:
Just arrived from Amazon: Pink Martini's latest CD (from last year), Je Dis Oui! (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K7S33KI/)
(https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91qNpOHw8yL._SL1500_.jpg)
-
What's cool about the CD is that it's not just a picture of a felt flower pot, the flower pot and the flowers are actually made of felt (and fake jewels in the center of each flower) and glued to the cover! It's really cute...and a great recording!
-
Here's a picture of the actual CD that I received:
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait...
-
Back from picking up packages and a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog. Before that I did work at the piano and chose a song.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I saw my therapist, Erik, today about my right arm, which has been bothering me for weeks. I don't think it's anything more than a simple strain, but I'm right-handed and I've no doubt I stress it throughout the day in little ways.
-
Listening to more music by Russian composer Kara Karayev.
-
Jeanne has NOT read GEE, mainly because she's so busy I haven't been able to get her a copy, like that's an excuse.
-
Erik is a very serious, very buttoned-up kind of guy, so I was surprised when he started telling jokes. That's kind of an oxymoron in itself. My favorite:
What do you call an alligator who wears a vest?
An inVESTigator!
-
Jeanne has NOT read GEE, mainly because she's so busy I haven't been able to get her a copy, like that's an excuse.
Quite right, Bruce. Not having a copy is no excuse at all!
-
And what DR Jeanne has been busy with has been medical and dental appointments, and we all know how much fun THEY are!
-
Glad to hear The Vixter is doing OK.
I hope she's able to find a good deal on another car.

If you like Arctic settings, did you see FORTITUDE? It's an interesting mystery series that takes place in the Arctic. Very well done, I thought.

Clemmie does indeed sound like an interesting character. Not just in DARKEST HOUR, but in CHURCHILL'S SECRET, too.
-
Yes, send love to the Vixter.
-
Speaking of low energy, last week I mentioned to a friend who's a telephone psychic that I was feeling rather drained. His response was, "Everyone is!" He said he'd had call after call for the past week of people saying how tired and drained they felt. Change of seasons? New flu strain? Pollen? Heavenly activity?
-
Weekend vibes to all.
TTFN.

Tme to close the windows. Damn it. To hell.
It was nice while it lasted, but we can do it again tomorrow -- till it begins cooling way down again...
-
Yesterday was cold and extremely windy. Today it's in the high 90s.
-
Thank you all for the lovely thoughts for Vixter
-
Since the other car ran away and since her car is literally 2 years older than she, and has a book value of 2 bits there will be no insurance
-
She is going to try and sell her car to someone who wants it for parts and is looking for a good used car

My low energy is not worse than usual.

I changed hairdressers today, in part for convenience and in part I was displeased with how she cut my bangs. The new location is less than an hour walk each way, only it rained today. Fortunately Keith was able to pick me up on his way home and I didn't immediately ruin my hair.
I am not sure the bangs are better. I will have a better feel for them when I wash my hair next. I loved that the place has European style shampoo sinks. Had I know this I would have switched a long time ago.
-
European chairs are far more comfortable and your neck is positioned so as not to do harm.

Thank you all for the lovely thoughts for Vixter
Please add mine and a hug, too!
-
DR GINNY weren't you going to the foot doctor? I did I read that post without my glasses?
Yes, DR JRand, Richard and I both saw her yesterday. He has to go back next week to have a toenail dealt with. I wanted her to check out both of my foot injuries from last fall and to weigh in on the residual pain in my right ankle (broken toe aftermath). She thinks that has more to do with varicose veins and recommended RICE - rest, ice, compression, and elevation. She wrapped my foot and ankle, which I’m to do at night and wear compression stockings during the day. I’m already feeling some improvement.

We just finished watching Downsizing, a very peculiar movie.

It drags a bit.

Watching Carola, a filmed play of Jean Renoir's. Leslie Caron, Mel Ferrer and Anthony Zerbe are wonderful. The story is of a Parisian theater troupe during WWII. A German general had an affair with the leading actress and wants to resume it. Meanwhile, a French officer is trying to hide from the Gestapo. It's somewhat comic and occasionally tense and altogether Jean Renoir.

Continue improvement vibes for DR Ginny.
~~~Ditto!!~~~
Thank you, DRs Jane and George.
The symphony has announced a fairly ambitious new season and hopefully it will be around to perform all of it.
My favorites include several pieces of Ravel, such as Tzigane and the Piano Concerto, the Mahler Symphony No. 9, and a performance of Alexander Nevsky, which I hope will be done with the movie.
Continue improvement vibes for DR Ginny.
Russian dressing was the same, with a teaspoon of hotdog relish
Sadly that has meant a real French dressing, a lovely vinaigrette, is unknown in this country.
Classi 1000-Island dressing is sans pickle relish - that came at some point but I never liked it. Classic 1000-Island is exactly ketchup and mayo and my mother used to put in a bit of crushed garlic for the seasoning.
-
Trying to finish Underworld USA but keep getting distracted.
-
Trying to finish I, Tonya.
-
I, Tonya had a lot going for it, especially the performances. But I just did not want to be around those people right now.
Ketchup and mayo is a very good fry sauce. I didn't know that that was also classic 1000-Island dressing.
Thunderstorm rolling in. Plants will enjoy the rain.
-
Good night, all.
-
Power just went out. I guess it’s not bedtime.
-
Back on.
-
Finished one movie, watched half of another, perhaps one of the handful of Woody Allen movies I've never seen - Alice. It's very strange and one of those movies that 90s critics liked but now don't - funny how that happens. I liked the first ten minutes or so and now it's become a trial so I'll finish it on the 'morrow.
-
Now I'm continuing on my Lee Hoiby opera kick after enjoying his Summer and Smoke - now playing, The Tempest, to be followed by A Month in the Country.
I have added seasoning when I made it for mixed salads. For sandwiches I just do mayo and ketchup. I have never added pickle relish., but then I do not like pickle relish.
My sister called me earlier today, asking if I could help her set up a PFLAG table tomorrow morning for an event downtown. She wants me there by 10:30, but said it shouldn't take too long.
-
She said that I won't need to help take it down after the event, which is good. I'm meeting my friend Margo for dinner before we both usher for an event at the Washington Center.
-
Well, since I need to get up in the morning ( :P ), I need to get to sleep.
Good night, and have a good day, all!
