Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sleepy, and now it is time for you to post until the sleepy time cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ELUTRIATE!
-
Topic of the Day: I was never specifically a fan of S&G, but my sister's boyfriend is. I've enjoyed a few individual songs of theirs over the years, but the only album that I ever bought was Paul Simon's "Graceland."
-
And now, I must go to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
There will be a bit of tsurus today: I have to deal with my HMO again over this mess with the X-ray bill - why did I not receive this until 8 months after the X-rays? - and that missing $297 payment.
-
Around noon I will head down to 890 Broadway and have lunch with Rob Berman and that will be the bright spot in my day.

Excellent! Can’t imagine anything finer than that.

One of our 100-seat theaters is thinking about EDWIN DROOD, which I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know. Could that play decently with a six or seven piece band?
How about GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE, should it become available over the next year or so?

I think DROOD would be fine. It's set in a seedy music hall, and I think a small group would add to the sound. I have no advice on the other but my memory us that the orchestration was only around 12 players. IMDB might list the original band.

(MTI) :)
Looks like a dozen, indeed. Thank you, sir.

Annabelle is all stuffed up again. WTF?
I'll see how she's breathing later. She may need to see the vet tomorrow.

Good morning, all.

Annabelle is seeing the vet at 2:30 so I just left a message for Rob asking if we could move lunch to tomorrow.

My Little Town

The Boxer
I Am a Rock
For reasons I'm not sure I could ever fully explain, "The Boxer" reduces me to tears, same with Guy Haines' recording of "The Cowboy Waltz" and Elton John's "Daniel." Few songs hit me this hard but these do.
-
When I was a kid, around 1950, the Weavers' recording of "Goodnight Irene" had the same effect.
-
DR FJL the hotel address isn't on the calendar. I will have to check with Keith once I am up.
-
Speaking of Keith and restaurants in Lacey, he loves Mexican food.
-
DR George of course you had to have an enchilada. I would have had a little guacamole instead of sour cream and whole black beans if they have them.
-
DR TCB I hope your stomachache is better today.
-
Occassionaly we have been served the little bean dip with the chips and enjoyed it.
-
DR George I seem to recall I was told if I turned off autocorrect it would also turn off spellcheck. Next time we go to Best Buy I will try and ask the Samsung rep. There is usually one there.
-

Mega Vibes!

Instead of doing allergy skin tests on Sherlock we did a simpler blood test. While not as accurate it was a good guide to avoiding certain foods and that helped his overall allergy. Of course, the same as with our allergies we couldn't avoid the trees.

This is how screwed up my HMO is:
when I called about this unpaid bill on Friday, I was told by a customer service rep that the referral physician had not sent a referral request for the X-rays and I needed my primary care physician to submit a post-dated referral. I sent my doctor the request for a post-dated referral on Friday. When I got home last night, Dr Teng's email said that it was too late and she could do nothig.
Just now, a customer service rep told me the whole shebang was paid on May 18 and I am off the hook. She gave me a reference number!

Yeah, I know what you mean. There are a few songs that do that to me. And of course, I can’t think of a single one right now.

Dear Lord in Heaven, Howard be thy name.
Yesterday was the Day from HELL.....
ANNIE is sold out - people are incensed they can't get tickets....I spent the day sending out stories for the Beauty and the Beast auditions coming up Sunday & Monday....and calling to add SOLD OUT stencils to all the newspaper ads.
Got to the theatre early....three people were in line fuming because the box office person was on the phone.....I always take the phone off the hook and handle the in person folks....two of them had not received their season tickets in the mail.
They were all mad...so I looked them up and told them I would make them duplicate tickets....also said if the real tickets come, THROW AWAY THE DUPLICATES, which they won't and we'll have tickets on some night with more than one ticket for some seats....
The ticket person finally showed up and said two of those people had called her and that we should have looked in the front of the reservation box, because she had already made duplicate tickets for them.....KARNAK.
Then I had to redo the ensemble ending to I DON'T NEED ANYTHING BUT YOU....during the first scene....and almost missed my cue for Scene Two....and forgot to put on my shirt tie under my police uniform....
And then....well.....it was a hell of a day....
And that, teacher, is why I was absent yesterday.....
-
Tonight is family night.....and the notes continue....
-
The audiobook of Ron Chernow’s Grant biography arrived today. It is 38 files long. Each one is 1:15 long. My life doesn’t seem that long.
-
Calm vibes for JRand.
-
DR elmore what a shame you had to deal with your HMO, yet what a relief you have a reference number it was paid.

Tuesday afternoon greetings! Because our fridge was empty, Richard and I went out for breakfast, followed by a $135 trip to Kroger. That’s all put away now, we’ve started laundry, and Richard is out doing some other errands.

I’ll spend that on groceries and later decide I have nothing for dinner.

Thanks DR JOHN G and DR CHAS SMITH....indeed....
I just got a note....I have to go back to the black pants because the navy blue pants make my jacket look black.....
Maybe I should just tear them apart and sew them together so I have one navy blue leg and one black leg....
-
I hope the dogs are there tonight.
-
SPECIAL EMERGENCY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING at 4:30 p.m.....why not....
Subject: No Tickets Available.....
Film at Eleven - if the rehearsal is over by then.
-
And DR ELMORE...ain't it the truth....
-
But I AM GLAD to be back....there may be an actresscide before the show ends its run, though.....
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep, I think.
-
Very congested.

I love the Mystery of Edwin Drood!
-
Just had to share. ;)

I like black beans, but I didn't think about that. I don't care for guacamole, though. :P

Ahh...that actually makes sense. But why does it have to be that way??
-
Allergies. Annabelle was calm and well-mannered as they prodded, poked, and rinsed out her nasal passages. I must now purchase a humidifier.
-
DR GEORGE weren't you in DROOD?
I am off to the meeting that can logically have only one outcome....but that doesn't mean logic will prevail.....
Soon to be murdered actress sent me a Facebook post.....she is getting closer to her demise....
-
Good afternoon.
-
Boy, what a lazy day, so far.
-
One more post.
-
Page 3
-
I have done nothing all morning except drink coffee, eat cheese and crackers, and play on the computer.
-
Cheese and crackers is not my usual breakfast, but I was out of yogurt, so this seemed close.
-
I have two long emails that I am suppose to have written today, but I have not done either one.
-
DR GEORGE weren't you in DROOD?
No, I've never been in it. I'd love to, and I've seen a couple of local productions, but I haven't been involved in one.
-
JRAND, I love the word actresscide.
-
Perhaps it was the production, but the DROOD I saw was dreadful...……. and long.
-
I have been looking at humidifiers on Amazon. There are too many choices and I have too little patience. Any recommendations?
-
JRAND, I love the word actresscide.
Sounds like it could be part of a new verse in "To Keep My Love Alive."
;)
-
...and I’ve dozed in my recliner for a couple of hours this afternoon...
-
I’ve been doing a LOT of that lately.
-
Waiting at the local watering (and eating) hole for director friend. We’ve made a monthly (or thereabouts) meeting a regular thing.
-
Back from some errands and picking up no mail.
-
Had tuna sandwiches for my meal o' the day.
-
Congestion is abating.
-
Heard a new track or part one of a three-part new track - sounded good to me, but I'm still futzing a couple of things in the first verse.
-
Good afternoon.
Still nothing to report.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Larry, I'm sorry you have to go through so much BS with your HMO. UCLA drove me nuts. They were able to attract very good doctors and nurses (mostly), but the admin people were the worst. Didn't know their jobs, were often rude and as unhelpful as possible. And you know that the people at the top are bringing in mega salaries. It's really galling.
I'm glad this round is over for you and your payment was finally acknowledged. Needless to say, you shouldn't have had to go through that.
-
DR Ginny, you had quite a road trip! I'm sure you're glad to be home.
-
Anti-stress vibes for JRand.
And anyone else who needs them.
-
I've been thinking about buying an iPad, mostly as back-up for my MacBook. I want something small and lightweight, and would use it mostly for email, Internet, and streaming movies. I'm now thinking that I could buy an Amazon Fire tablet for half the price ($150) that could probably do all that.
I know that many of you have iPads. Any thoughts? Does anyone have a Fire? I prefer to read real books, but an e-reader would give me greater access.
-
Acorn TV surprised me by bringing back TALES OF THE CITY. I've been enjoying it. I find that it holds up quite well.
-
Just been going through CD garage boxes looking for stuff - found some things I want in iTunes, so that's what I'm doing now.
-
Re S&G, I was listening to BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER just recently and thinking what an instant classic it was. Such a great song!
-
I was just steps from John O'Groats today, so I stopped there for lunch. I tried something new, which was just so-so.
Bruce, Mr Jacoby passed away. I think it was last week. Angelica was there, but I didn't have a chance to talk to her.
-
TTFN.
-
Hello!
-
Page 3?
-
Not for long
-
Page 4!
-
I agree that Bridge Over Troubled Water is a classic.
-
It's surprising how pleasantly cool it's been. Of course there's been lots of rain too.

To my surprise it isn't that way with my iPhone. If only I had known I would have had a good reason to justify keeping the iPad I returned once Keith fixed my Samsung tablet ;)
-
Allergies. Annabelle was calm and well-mannered as they prodded, poked, and rinsed out her nasal passages. I must now purchase a humidifier.
Vibes the kitties do not knock it over.
I personally prefer a warm air humidifier as the cold air ones give me a cold. If it is hot in your place you might want the cool air for the summer.
I haven't had one in years. Easy to clean & use is important.

Uploading albums into iTunes and listening as I do - some great stuff. Billy May currently playing. Also approved the latest track, so I think he only has three left, plus one short one.
-
Watching The Big Combo, a fun noir with Cornel Wilde and Richard Conte, one of my favorite bad guys.
-
Well, I need to be leaving work and I'm hungry, so it's off to home I go.
Be back later.

Starting to watch Satyajit Ray's last movie, The Stranger. J.B. isn't happy. He doesn't care for the sound of Hindi. And he's telling me that he's not going to learn it any time soon. So, I should just take the movie out and give it to someone else. And then play with him more.
-
Good night, all.
-
I'm home and watching America's Got Talent. There are (as always) some clunkers, but some performers are pretty darned good.
-
Back from a three-mile jog and listening to cool jazz, which is mostly what I've been uploading.
-
I gotta tell you.

Was this with the old looking couple doing the horrid untalented dance routine?

Listening to Wes Montgomery - two of my all-time favorite albums, both on A&M and both with orchestrations by Don Sebesky.

You mean the older couple who still loved to "dance"? ;)

They really weren't that bad...there have been a LOT worse.

The large woman who sang "I Know Where I've Been" from Hairspray.

She was good!
-
And the last guy was very good, too.

Good evening.

Page 5? Really?
-
I didn’t accomplish much during the rest of the day.
-
I did write one of the two emails I was supposed to write.
-
I had turkey for dinner..
-
And no ice cream for dessert.
-
I bought a bag of caramel M & M’s at the store today, but the bag remains sealed.

Unless Nicky opened it.
-
Hi, George.
-
I opted out of the old actor’s lunch this week.
-
My friend, Diane, called and asked if we could meet up for lunch.
-
The top local news story tonight was this SUV that blew up in this family’s drive wat in Federal Way. That city is just north of Tacoma.
-
The parts of this SUV blew all over the neighborhood.
-
They don’t have any idea yet what made the vehicle to blow up.
-
No one was hurt in the explosion.
-
Far different than back in the 50’s when a lot of former gangsters were “relocated” to Tacoma.
-
In those days the explosion usually happened when someone started the car.
-
They really weren't that bad...there have been a LOT worse.
We don't normally watch the show and just caught that embarrassing act. They looked much older than their ages.
-
She was good!
Too bad we didn't see that one instead.
-
I guess if a cellphone can blow up, a vehicle can too.

That's good!
-
I just burned a DVD of mostly Broadway and other musical performances (and a few movie songs) from talk shows.
-
The earliest movie clip was of Carmen Miranda from A Date With Judy from 1948.
-
The earliest TV interview performance was Jodi Benson on The View from September 2013.
-
I actually have clips on my DVD burner that I recorded in 2012!
-
I need to start putting these on DVDs so that I can free up all that space and record more stuff!
