Well, you've read the notes, the notes won a Tony, and now it is time for you to post until the award-winning cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SCRUTATOR!
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Good morning, all.
-
First, because I'm up early to be ready for whenever today's work people arrive.
-
Sorry I had to miss the bash last night. I read through it before going to sleep.
From what I saw, once we were past the opening number which, as they usually do, completely mystified me, it was a somewhat more straightforward awards show than so many have been lately, even with the good, the bad, and the ugly. But I couldn't really watch closely, so I am no judge.
-
One thing that occurred to me is that the presenters and recipients know better how to dress than those on the other shows. It seemed to be an uptick in dignity on that front. But again, what do I know.
-
Well, I must get going. I wish everyone well for the day, and I'll be back at some point this afternoon or evening.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I think the only recent musical I’ve bought is The Band’s Visit, which I really enjoy.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I got tired of Groban and Barelles really fast. As soon as they began their final duet, I turned out the lights.
-
Because of the camera work, I missed several of the people the In Memoriam section. I thought the camera work for the most part was dreadful.
-
This lemming approved of all the political comments. We have a childish asshole who cannot control himself running this country as though he's a dictator of a little banana republic, and his behavior at G-7 was appalling. His behavior on twitter is an embarrassment.
-
And speaking of Donald Trump, I have to clean a litter box.
-
I don't care if you like Trump or not, but what DeNiro said on the show last night was out-of-line, as was the audience's reaction.
PERIOD.
>:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I loved how they did this segment for the most part. But I agree that the camera sometimes went too far out and it was hard to read the names. That is unacceptable.

I actually loved them and thought that they were great. They weren't the typical kind of host. But I really enjoyed how they worked together. And I loved their singing together.
-
I agree that an awards ceremony is not the place for political statements.
-
I ended up liking Josh and Sarah....mostly because NONE of their songs/routines went on forever....but seemed about right.
And yes the clothes folks were wearing were very nice and appropriate...and nice to look at. I like to see folks dress up. The actress from CAROUSEL who won a Tony looked especially lovely.
-
DR ELMORE everything you say about our current title holder is so...I just think there are more appropriate places for the calling out. Stating the obvious is really no cause for celebration.
He LOVES having his name mentioned, being talked about, and discussed, etc. The thing he would hate the most is to NOT be talked about or mentioned or even thought of at all....so I do what he would hate the most.
He is just temporary. As I wrote here before....it seems to me the Universe will rid us of him in October, 2019....just a bit longer....we are stronger than he is.
-
Congrats to MR BK on his millstone.
-
My favorite number from the Tony Awards last night was the Blow High, Blow Low song and dance from CAROUSEL. I was sorry to hear from MR BK's post that the rest of the production doesn't follow through...
I am like DR GEORGE....what are the drag queens doing in MY FAIR LADY? There has to be a reason all of the dancing folks in that pub were dressed like saloon girls from BONANZA....and why was Eliza so OLD?
-
I hated the numbers from MEAN GIRLS and SPONGEBOB...and I hate to think of the day that will soon be here that these two shows will be produced by community theatres and high schools ...
A nearby theatre is doing HEATHERS....
-
Yesterday afternoon there was a LOT of rain.....so the stage crew closed the traveler so folks could make crosses and not be seen by the audience - usually if they have an entrance on the other side, they walk out the door and use the side walk to get there.
BUT with the traveler closed, the way I go on with my wheelchair is blocked....no one seems to have considered that.....so I talked to the stage manager and he said they would open the traveler a few lines before I had to go on.
So my pusher took me center stage...where they opened the traveler about half a page before my entrance....so I just observed the party through the window....
-
Lots of me on this page.
-
Me and some urchins backstage yesterday....

I sure hope you are right about 2019!
The theatre has been political since Aristophanes; I may not agree with a winner's comments - political or non-political - but I support their right to comment.

FDR is watching you! Watch out, DR JRand67; you are becoming Orwellian.

I have to visit my bank before the day gets too warm and before my Medicare check is overdrawn.
-
But let's get to Page 2.
-
Monday morning greetings! Another slow start for me today, puttering until it's time to go to the public library for an AAUW board meeting. Much to celebrate tonight because our garage sale made $3369.91 - a record amount!

Fun pic DR Jrand

Made it to Denver. Boarding soon. I swapped my aisle seat on the two-hour flight here with someone separated from his wife. The new seat was on the window but had much more leg room. I somehow managed to get an aisle seat on this flight. I won’t give it up.

Travel vibes for DR John G!

Continued travel vibes to DR JOHN G.
That's a big sale DR GINNY.
Thanks DR JANE.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
-
Proofed the chart that came late last night, and gave corrections just now, so he'll track that today and it's pretty simple.
-
I saw all the numbers on YouTube before going to bed - the nadir was Mean Girls - the lyrics, those awful declamatory I am this person, I do this thing - just awful. I run hot and cold on David Yazbek's work - it was in the middle for the Omar Sharif song. The Spongebob number was like every other big, splashy and completely dopey tap number done in the last ten years - they are literally all the same. It's like they now have a template for these numbers and the Mean Girls number. Blow High just went on too long and the choreographer's show-off ballet stuff for his ballet dancers was, for me, tiresome after the first minute. I know most people like his work, though. I have to go back and watch Get Me to the Church on my DVD - I don't remember the guys as girls bit at all but it has to be there - maybe I dozed off because I found that number fairly dreadful. And the Once on this Island thing - I've never loved the show and I know everyone worships at the alter of this director, but I do not like his work and have never liked his work.

I guess I didn't pay as much attention during the broadcast because I didn't notice parts that I couldn't read. :-\

Is that the hillbilly version of "American Pie"??
;)

I have a couple of friends who would LOVE to do the HEATHERS musical. They just LOVE THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can get the rights, Jrand, maybe you could do "Waving Through a Window" from 2017 Tonys

I wish I had thought of that DR FJL....
-
Four more edits finished. Three to go: Paris Original, Rosemary, and Act One Finale. I see a check in my future.

Good afternoon.

It looks like my friend will be released from the hospital tomorrow. She has been sick since March.
-
I have a few minutes, so I will begin watching youtube clips.

It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.
;)
-
Had Taco Bell today. The one package supposedly coming today has been delayed until Thursday - I may have to have a leeeeetle conversation with Amazon about that.
-

That is a long time in the hospital. I am very pleased she will be returning home and wish her a full recovery.
-
I just had a phone call from my friend Peter Clem. Our friend Page Jackson died sometime last night or today. I will miss him and his very acerbic wit.

Travel vibes for DR JohnG
-
Good evening to all.
-
For the first time in years, I was working during the Tony broadcast.
-
Watch it this morning. I rather enjoyed it
-
Mean Girls tied with The Scotsborro Boys with the most nominations and going home with 0.

Great news.
-
Thanks for the travel vibes. I made it in one piece.
-
Watched two movies on the flight, The Death of Stalin, which was just hilarious (intentionally so) and The Shape of Water, which was OK, not best picture.
-
Read 300 pages of The Big Money.
-
Page three? Really?
-
Finished with my viewing and listening to music. Heard a track, made a few fixes and now there's just one left.
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
And where are the errant and truant this fine evening.
-
Hi.
-
DR John your video on fb is beautiful. Are you staying on the beach?
-
Oh, c'mon already for heaven's sake. We're still on page three?
-
Good evening.
-
Not feeling well today.
-
My condolences to DR Elmore on the passing of his friend.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Tonight I had the second penne bolognese.
-
Not feeling well today.
~~~Feel Better Vibes for Tom!!~~~
-
I couldn’t face the chili.
-
Tonight was the volunteer appreciation dinner for the Washington Center for the Performing Arts.
-
Hopefully I will feel up t chili tomorrow.
-
Hi, George.
-
They said that they would open the doors at 5:00, and start the event and dinner at 5:30.
-
Did you win anything at the dinner?
-
I was planning on leaving work before 5:00 to beat the traffic, but I lost track of time and totally forgot to leave!!
-
At about 5:45, it just hit me that I was late and I just shut everything down on my work computer and high-tailed it outta there!
-
Page 4
-
How was the food?
-
I got there at about 6:10 and dinner was still available.
-
My little wand broke.
-
They evidently had small beef burgers and veggie burgers.
-
My little wand broke.
Oh, no!
-
You know, the thing you use to type on your iPad.
-
I guess “wand” is not the correct term.
-
All of the meat burgers were gone, so I had a veggie burger and three of the mini corndogs and a few frosted animal cookies.
-
I guess “wand” is not the correct term.
Stylus?
-
Not too bad for a free meal.
-
I did go and pick up my prescriptions today.
-
Although if I had gotten there on time, there would have been other things available, but I don't know what they would've been.
-
That was a painful $86.00.
-
There were a few empty serving dishes, so who knows what was in them.
-
We had a LOT of raffle items, so a lot of people got stuff.
-
That was a painful $86.00.
Yikes! That is painful. :-\
-
That was a painful $86.00.
Luckily one of the prescriptions was my pain pills.
-
I won a gift box from Archibald Sisters that has some vanilla-coconut scented lotion and a coconut scented bath bomb.
-
I haven't taken a bath in YEARS, so maybe it's time to take one. ;)
-
They announced the next season, as they always do at this event.
-
We had a LOT of raffle items, so a lot of people got stuff.
I take it you were not one of the winners.
-
One highlight is actually an add-on to this season: Melissa Etheridge!
-
Stylus. That’s right.
-
I was one of the winners!
-
It is very hard to type on this iPad, when the O keeps sticking.
-
Getting closer.
-
The big "Broadway" kind of musical this year is Kinky Boots.
-
Page 5
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
The artistic director of the center made the announcement and I think she said that Kinky Boots will be the first time that a show that's currently playing on Broadway is coming to the WCPA.
-
I'm looking forward to that one!
-
Is that the only Broadway show next season?
-
What else is on the schedule?
-
At least we made it past page 3.
-
But we aren’t going to make page 10.
-
George, did you leave?
-
Hmmm, maybe he did!
-
Oh well, I can always talk to myself.
-
I do it all the time.
-
Tomorrow is Tuesday?
-
My days are all mixed up lately.
-
I think I need a giant wall calendar.
-
Well, good night, myself.
-
Is that the only Broadway show next season?
I think so. At least, that's the only one that I can remember. They'll send out the season brochure soon.
-
What else is on the schedule?
I don't specifically remember. ::)
-
George, did you leave?
No. I was...indisposed for a bit. ;)
-
Tomorrow is Tuesday?
All day.
-
Well, good night, myself.
Good night, Tom.
-
Well...
-
...let's...
-
...see...
-
...if...
-
...we...
-
...can...
-
...make...
-
...it...
-
...to...
-
6!!!
-
Whew!
-
;)
-
I'm so tired of my voice being weak and no amount of relaxing and not using it seems to be helping, which is REALLY irritating. I have one week to get it back where it needs to be.
