Today, my friend David is visting from Seattle and we're going to meet for lunch. I don't know if his wife, who still works in Olympia, will be joining us. We agreed to meet, and then I remembered that I had ordered some Schwan's and it's scheduled to be delivered sometime between 1 and 3 pm. Fortunately, the receptionist can take my order and put it in the freezer for me. He's been willing to do it before.

I would suggest seeing what the preferred pronunciation is in the dictionary and using that. Even if Neil Simon's characters are native New Yorkers, they are well educated.
