Well, you've read the notes, the notes were young, and now it is time for you to post until the young cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RODOMONTADE!
-
First after bk
-
Why am I upat4:28 am?
-
Because I fell asleep at9
-
I'm up, too.
-
Listening to music.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I'm off to Houston in a bit.
-
I could use a little more sleep though.
-
I'd also like an hour or so to finish up the last 30 pages of Zola's The Kill.
-
Good morning, all!
-
HA! I don't know Leroy Holmes from Leroy Anderson....or probably Mervyn Leroy either.....
-
Whew! I was tense while reading the Annabelle story....until the final post revealed her safe and sound....
-
Exactly one year ago today, I made a trip to Best Friends Animal Society for their Adoptathan - zillions of cats and kittens for an adoption fee of $20 (usually it's $125-200 depending on the cat, breed, etc.). They had no kittens; they had all been taken on Sept. 29, but there was another adoption event at Union Square beginning at noon.
-
Birdy Barnum and I are listening to Chet Baker. It took him three songs to get into it....but now he is singing along with the trumpet.....
DR JEANNE....I dance and he watches askance.....
-
Another standing up ovation last night....show was a bit rough in spots.
AGAIN the dresser was NOT there for the first of my our quick changes....but she was there for the others....GRRRRRRRRRRRR
-
Matinee today at 1 p.m. Don't know about the size of the audience - but theatre is NOT a daytime activity.
Closing day....I shall miss everyone and everything - except the daily drive to and from....
-
I got to Union Square around 11:30, killed time for 30 minutes by looking at dogs (few cats) at the ASPCA van, before I got to the K9 Kastle event and found a 10-month old kitten named Annabelle. It was love a first sight, and two hours later, after my references cleared, I carried her home.
-
To celebrate our one year anniversary, she nearly gave me a stroke yesterday by vanishing most of the day, and this morning she pushed the jar of zinnias that Ella and Tim gave me yesterday off the table, broke the glass and left a nice puddle of water.

I thought the show played two weekends.
-
Today I'm back to How To Succeed . . . after our patrol.
-
Good morning to all
-
I miss the old days of Ebay.
I was able to finance several trips to LA by selling things on it.
-
I'll never forget I had a bidding war on the program from a touring production of Camelot with Richard Harris.
I interviewed Robert Cuccioli who was playing Lancelot for my radio show back then. He autographed it.
He then hit big with Jeykl & Hyde on Broadway and people wanted his signature. Two girls were trying to out bid one another. It ended up going for over $150. I was able to get a week's car rental out of it and then some.
It can never happen again. You can't even sell CDs or DVDs anymore there are just too many people selling things and people don't seem to like the bidding aspect of EBAY anymore. But now is the mantra.
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR Elmore, I’d suggest something other than flowers if either you or Annabelle were thinking of giving the other something for your anniversary,
-
OMG, how tiny and young she looks in that picture.
-
It’s not really a HUGE difference, but at first glance it looks that way.
-
Okay, I’m looking at the pictures I took on October 12th (I saw her that soon??) and she does look younger. Oh my! :)
-
Good morning!
-
Page 2!
-
DR elmore: I'm so relieved that Annabelle's safe and sound!
-
Thanks for the good wishes, DR Jeanne!
-
Just watched a segment on CBS Sunday Morning about Gilda Radner. She was so great.
-
Okay, I’m looking at the pictures I took on October 12th (I saw her that soon??) and she does look younger. Oh my! :)
I can't remember if you or my neighbor Judy took this photo, but this is one of the earliest photos of her.

DR elmore: I'm so relieved that Annabelle's safe and sound!
Thanks, DR KevinH, and thank you all last night who sent positive vibes! I cannot believe how strongly the fear of losing her overtook me last night. By 6:00 I had posted a flyer in the lobby and put a lost cast notice on Craig's List. I was a mess.
-

That would be hers. I remember you posting those and maybe a couple of others before I got down there. My Oct. 12th ones all of her on the chair with the red cushion.

I will never know how she ended up a stray on the streets. Did she run away? did her stupid owners dump her? Did they move and leave her behind? All I know is that on my birthday Sept. 19, she entered the New York Animal Control Center killing factory, was given an ID number, photographed, and neutered the next day. If K9Kastle had not rescued her shortly after that, she could have been euthanized by Sept. 26. This was her mug shot.

Today I'm going along with Kristi to the Martime Aquarium in Norwalk where she's been volunteering off and on for years. They've begun certain renovations which are going to result in some big changes over the next year, and both of us tend to be sentimental about things like that so I'm going to take a bunch of pictures of the place.
It's funny how certain spaces will do that to you. Not to everyone, but to some of us. It's not unlike neighborhoods, restaurants, theaters, and all the rest. So many people don't respond to this kind of thing. I do, in spades. Always have, though I wasn't sufficiently aware of it in earlier years.
Speaking of theaters, the elephant in the room has been that the Aquarium's original IMAX theater, one of the few 70mm ones left, will also be leaving us by next fall. It must be demolished to make way for the railroad bridge that will replace the century-old one carrying the commuter New Haven Line. IMAX will replace the theater with their latest and greatest, but it will have to be built at the other end of the Aquarium, and of course there will be no chance of them retaining the film capability. So I'll go in and see one of their nature features or whatever they're showing today, and will revisit it as much as I can over the months.

October 5, a week before you.
-
Yep. And maybe you posted it, but I don't remember seeing the mug shot before.
-
Here it is. Click to enlarge. You can (almost) see the elevated tracks running to the left. The bridge that has to be replaced is off to the right. The tracks actually bisect the Aquarium complex. Right now you walk through a little tunnel to go from the main part of the facility to the theater. This theater is a magnificent structure and it's heartbreaking to know we're going to lose it.
-
Happy anniversary to Elmore and Annabelle...I am so glad your missing Annabelle story had a happy ending
-
I am sure she broke the flower vase to keep you from getting overly sentimental
-
I'm glad that Annabelle was found!
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! It's another beautiful day here in SW Ohio and Richard and I are about to walk over to see what the "Moving Sale" at Julie's house is all about.
-
DR Elmore, I'm so glad Annabelle didn't make you worry about her any longer last night - happy anniversary to you both!
-
This has become my favorite photo of Brett Kavanaugh.

She's behaving quite nicely today and I think I've discovered her new hideout. I've also discovered that Thatch knows certain words: his name, daddy, treat, nap. My children are brilliant.
-
DR George I love the photo of you and your dear sister.
-
Nice one of you with Luke. It appears you have lost more weight.
-
Except for the extreme pain I am glad your sister is home recovering. Who takes care of her after these surgeries?
VIBES SHE WILL NOT NEED ANYMORE AND WILL BE PAIN FREE!
-
Birdy Barnum and I are listening to Chet Baker. It took him three songs to get into it....but now he is singing along with the trumpet.....

I am glad you have enjoyed doing this show, except for the rude dresser.

I know the feeling and sadly once we never found our pet. All the many other times we had happy endings.

I am sorry.

Happy 1st anniversary to DR elmore and Annabelle.
Where is her new favorite hideout?
-
Greetings from the Maritime Aquarium, where I am enjoying a delightful li’l repast in the Cascade Cafe. I shall make my way down to the IMAX in a bit to see the latest nature flick, “Backyard Wilderness”, that has quickly garnered some awards.
-
I'm up, I'm up - just about nine hours of sleep. Starting tonight I go to bed by one at the latest. I've caught up on sleep and I can't sleep in like this again until A Carol Christmas opens.
-
More eBay stories.
-
The bidding wars were sometimes phony, where the seller would up bids himself from a different account.
-
Happy 1st anniversary to DR elmore and Annabelle.
Where is her new favorite hideout?
On the floor in a cubby hole of storage boxes.
-
Went to Gelson's for today's food. Then I came home and made today's food - a perfect Keto meal: sauteed chicken breast cut up in pieces, onions, mushrooms, over zucchini noodles. I had no idea they packaged those now but I really enjoyed the meal and it was quite filling.
-
If I'm hungry later, I have another breast, more zucchini noodles, etc. Or I could make scrambled eggs.
-
And yet I haven't lost a damn pound.
-
Listening to a beautiful opera by Erich Wolfgang Korngold - Das Wonder der Heliane. It has deliriously gorgeous Korngold melodies, and the scoring is like listening to a film score with singing. John Mauceri is the conductor and does a wonderful job.
-
This has become my favorite photo of Brett Kavanaugh.
Elmore, it's so weird; on CNN, they played the actual Senate hearing moments and the Matt Damon SNL spoof when the Judge questions the questioner, and the real-life somehow seems more outrageous than the spoof.
-
Happy 1st anniversary to DR elmore and Annabelle.
Where is her new favorite hideout?
On the floor in a cubby hole of storage boxes.
Hard to see when you can't easily get down on the floor and explore-lol
-
Bruce have you gained any weight?
-
If I'm hungry later, I have another breast, more zucchini noodles, etc. Or I could make scrambled eggs.
Are these pasta flavored with zucchini, or the vegetable cut up into a noodle-like shape?
-
Confused by Alex Moffat playing Chuck Grassley, that's very flattering casting for Grassley.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Continued vibes for TCB's niece.
I'm glad she's home. I hope it gets easier very soon.
-
I have no news.
Vibes to all.
TTFN.
-
Happy Anniversary to DR ELMORE and DEAR KAT ANNABELLE.
-
The Monsignor has taken his last bow....the audience was most enthusiastic, and everyone did a great job.
We said our goodbyes....and there were some nice sentiments expressed by the kids to me....most of which were sincere.
My dresser indeed was there for ALL the changes and READY....it was a miracle!
The audience was fantastic and ate up the songs, the jokes, the costumes, and the scenery...the orchestra rocked. I am so happy to have been a part of it. I love being in a hit!
-
And so ends my theatre activity for 2018....with the exception of a board meeting or two.
It started way back in April....and many things have happened since then....but I can now start my new life....alone in my home.....with Birdy Barnum...and see how it goes.

I am glad you have some company, and you do have your family close by. Vibes while you settle in to the changes. I expect there will be many difficult moments.

"most of which were sincere" - Wasn't it someone on HHW who said "The secret of success is sincerity. Once you can fake that you've got it made."
-
Or was it Jean Giraudoux? One or the other.
-
I love being in a hit!
Lauren Bacall celebrate the De Pauw success!

Well we are now the proud owners of anew(to us) Altima
-
A friend from church suggested we try Hertz auto sales
-
Zucchini noodles are zucchini spiraled to look like noodles. I sautéed them in butter.
-
We ended up with a 2018 with 14,000 miles...at $14,000 below the cost of a 2018 off the showroom floor
-
Jane, I'm quite sure I haven't gained a pound and I'm really thinking, joking aside, that I may have lost a couple. But these people who brag on Facebook that in a week-and-a-half they've lost eight or twelve pounds - I just don't believe a word they're saying.
-
BKs been on that keto diet for a week and I haven't lost a damn pound
-
After my mini-rant about not being able to sell anything on eBay, the last of my test items was about to close tomorrow morning and sold just now.
-
Now listening to another Korngold opera, Violanta - written when he was seventeen years old. It's of high quality, especially his orchestrations. I tell you, I run hot and VERY cold on opera, but these two Korngold operas I've just heard are everything I like - like The Crucible of Robert Ward, most Puccini. I've got one more Korngold opera here, Die Tote Stadt, so that's next. It's been an opera kind of a last few days actually.
-
Page four? Really?
-
The hertz place was amazing they were able to register it right there and we drove off the lot with it about 90 minutes after saying yes
-
Congratulations to BK on his eBay sale
-
Congratulations to Jack one succesful run of Sister Act
-
When did I have Korngold?
-
Well we are now the proud owners of anew(to us) Altima
Congratulations! May this car be very kind to you.
-

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought of that.

Nope, not likely unless they had more to lose than you do. You think you might have lost? I knew you were joking but haven't you weighed yourself?

90 minutes-not bad. Did you get a good warranty with it?

This little residue cough may never go away but the rest of the cold finally seems gone. To celebrate we went and got our Quad flu vaccinations.
-

Wonderful.

I like the credits listed for GOD FRIENDED ME.

A great ending, indeed.

Watching a somewhat irritating French flick called Godard Mon Amour from the man who directed The Artist. It's a story of Godard's relationship with actress Anna Wiazemsky. The character of Godard is the source of irritation, and it seems fairly true to life. Some of the humor arises from him being taken less than seriously by the young audience he wants the most. It seems the only people who like his movies are old and conformist.
-
The trip to Houston was a lot of fun, starting with some excellent dim sum. I was surprised at how good the place was. Everything from the crab rolls to the daikon cake, my favorite.
-
I discovered a little more about the Bellaire area, which is not just a concentration of Chinese markets, shops and restaurants. There's also a Vietnamese section, and the street signs go from being in Chinese to Vietnamese. The takeover has been fairly thorough, and it's all fairly segregated. We were looking for a Chinese herb shop in the Vietnamese, but it apparently went out of business, only to be replaced by a Vietnamese herb shop. The staff didn't speak either Chinese or English, and they didn't seem to want Joy's business. Strange.

Exactly. I wonder if eating everywhere this weekend had anything to do with it.
-
The Durrells and Poldark both start tonight.
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait...
I'm not sure I'm in the mood to watch anything this evening. So, listening to music might be it.
-
So glad to hear about the Vixfam's new car! Sounds like a great deal and it's nice to hear it went so smoothly. May it become a beloved member of the family.
-
At first I read Vixmom's post as Heinz auto sales. ???
Vixmom and Vixdad were driving off in a giant ketchsup bottle.
-
Is the new car red by any chance?
-
Will the new car have a name?
-
Bruce, congrats on the sale. What is it you sold?
-
Will there be photos?
-
Jack, congrats on your very successful run.
-
Happy Anniversary to Annabelle and Larry.
-
Glad you're feeling better, Jane.
-
Have a great week ahead, everyone.
Good night.
-
Hello, 0 guests!
-
I really don't want to go to work tomorrow.
-
But I gotta.
-
Renee Fleming's new album, Broadway, with Rob Fisher conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra, has arrived from the library. I haven't had time to listen to it. Has anybody?
-
Good night, all.

90 minutes-not bad. Did you get a good warranty with it?
7 years or 70,000 miles ... An additional 70,000 so up to 84,411.00 on the odometer
-
Is the new car red by any chance?
No the lamented list vixdadmobile was red. It was named Ruby by the Vixter
-
Sold a minty fresh copy of Meet Me in St. Louis first edition. I've enjoyed it but realized I could live without.
-
The new car is called "storm blue" but it looks black
-
Dang I can't get the photo to post
-
Had some scrambled eggs with mushrooms a little cheese - very good.
-

Thanks though it was a bad day with my elbow. I feared I would jump in pain when the needle was in my other arm. Fortunately the sharp shooting pains calmed down just in time.

'night

I'm thinking more people would be likely to try the "Beto Diet" than the "Ted Cruz" diet. Even with all those burgers, Beto seems to be in better shape. Maybe he just takes a bite of burger at each stop. Or doesn't eat the roll?
I'll do some research about their differences on social issues in the morning.
-
Goodnight
-
Another standing up ovation last night....show was a bit rough in spots.

Congrats on the ovation! But a pox on the dresser for AGAIN missing the first quick change!

Well, since we're here...
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Today, some of the cast of Cinder Edna got together and recorded songs from the score.
-
As the microphones were being set up in the theater, we rehearsed in the lobby.
-
Good evening.
-
Adjustments had to be made because the lack if the entire cast being present. :-\
-
But it turns out that the main composer/lyricist (and husband of the director) really just wanted a recording so that if any other theater wanted to perform the show, there was some kind of recording to listen to.
-
Wow! I am actually posting.
-
Great news, Tom!
-
Congratulations to Jrand on a short, but successful run! All that work for just one weekend.

I know! Broadway Olympia Productions is the same way.

Today, Tracy and I attended the final performance of BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIERS at Lakewood Playhouse.

Here's a widescreen picture of the the recording equipment set up on the set of their current show:

Today, Tracy and I attended the final performance of BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIERS at Lakewood Playhouse.
How was it?
-
The production was very good..... good script (obviously), a beautiful set, and some fine performances made for a nice afternoon.
-
The three male cast members, playing the father and the two brothers, were spot on.
-
The final scene between the father and the oldest brother was very powerful.

That's great!
-
The scene brought me to tears, but I was certainly not the only one wiping my eyes.
-
I had forgotten how wonderful that Simon trilogy really is.
-
Lakewood is hopefully going to produce the other two plays as the opening show of the next two seasons.
-
Okay, I’m looking at the pictures I took on October 12th (I saw her that soon??) and she does look younger. Oh my! :)

Very nice picture, Larry!
-
The show was directed by a good friend who was the first artistic director at Lakewood Playhouse about 25 years ago.
-
But it turns out that the main composer/lyricist (and husband of the director) really just wanted a recording so that if any other theater wanted to perform the show, there was some kind of recording to listen to.
They hadn't told you that was the reason beforehand?
I bet if people knew they were trying to make a demo too send around and be heard by theater pros, everyone would have tried their best to be there.
Or am I thinking NY instead of Washington?

We may have been told. It's quite possible that I just don't remember.
-
At least a couple of people weren't there because they were sick, and a couple others had jobs that they couldn't get out of. We were told that they're going to have another recording session with those people and drop them into our recordings, so they'll get to be on it.

They'd better! They supposedly videorecorded the show, and we were supposed to have had a get-together to watch it, but that hasn't happened yet. :P

DR George I love the photo of you and your dear sister.
Thanks, Jane!

Nice one of you with Luke. It appears you have lost more weight.
Thanks, again, but I haven't lost. ::) I've plateaued and have been at the same weight for about a year.

Are you sure? You sure looked like you had lost more weight when I saw you last week.

Congrats, Jrand! I've been involved with more hits (working tech) than I've acted in, but it's fun either way.

Thanks, but yes, I'm sure. I do weigh myself occasionally and definitely have not lost any in quite a while. On the upside, I haven't gained any either, so that's good.

Maybe you broke your scale?

Well we are now the proud owners of anew(to us) Altima
Congrats, Vixmom and Vixdad!

Maybe you broke your scale?
No. I've just reached another point of equilibrium. For more than 10 years, I stayed right around 305 without much varying at all...until it changed without me trying.

We ended up with a 2018 with 14,000 miles...at $14,000 below the cost of a 2018 off the showroom floor
That's wonderful!

I really don't want to go to work tomorrow.
I feel your pain!

Renee Fleming's new album, Broadway, with Rob Fisher conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra, has arrived from the library. I haven't had time to listen to it. Has anybody?
I have not. I don't know if my library is going to order it. I may have to put in a reqest-for-purchase.

The hertz place was amazing they were able to register it right there and we drove off the lot with it about 90 minutes after saying yes
90 minutes-not bad. Did you get a good warranty with it?
7 years or 70,000 miles ... An additional 70,000 so up to 84,411.00 on the odometer
That's fantastic! When I got my car (granted, it was 20 years ago), they only offered 3 years or 36,000 miles. :P

Sold a minty fresh copy of Meet Me in St. Louis first edition. I've enjoyed it but realized I could live without.
Congrats, BK!
