Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the games people play, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently doing the games cows play.

And the word of the day is: CORNPONE!

And the word of the day is: CORNPONE!
As in Jubilation T. Cornpone (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TfcJ82FAhw)??

:D

Well, I need to go to sleep now. I also need to get to work earlier than usual. In December, they're changing the dates of when we get paid and that's causing a LOT of sturm und drang and angst and tsuris. We currently get paid on the 15th and the last working day of the month. They're going to change it to the 10th and 25th, so that we don't get paid before we actually turn in our time sheets. Good idea, huh?
-
BUT, we'll get our December 15th paycheck, then not get paid again until January 10! Fortunately, they're going to let us work extra hours (at time and a half when we work over 40 hours in a week), and/or cash-in some vacation time, and/or cash-in our personal holiday hours (16 non-cumulative hours per year...if we have any left for this year), and/or cash-in next year's personal holiday hours. We can work the equivalent of, or cash in, up to 86 extra hours of pay. The union bargained for these options, and that's pretty cool. Of course, people don't have to work extra hours or cash in any vacation or personal time if they have enough to get themselves to the new pay date, but we have these options.
-
I told my supervisor that I'd like to work extra hours. I actually have enough vacation to cash in the 86 hours, but if other people want to work Saturdays, there has to be a supervisor present in our area. I live close and most of the stuff I do on Saturdays (like my weekly family dinner) can be moved to other days. The A Christmas Story Saturday performances are after the December 15th pay period, so the time period that we have to do all of this will be over.
-
So, I'm off to bed and an early start.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I think I will be helping Joshie today, so I got up an hour early to pay some bills and post them on my way into City Center. I was going to pay them yesterday, but Annabelle decided to help me. She climbed onto my work table, lay down in the middle of my bills, groomed herself, played with a paper clip, tried to get from the table into the book shelf, played with some pens, rolled around, tried to get a tan from the lamp, played with a paper clip . . .
-
She and Thatch are fed and I will clean the litter. Then get to work.
-
DR JohnG, I wish your waitress friend a speedy recovery.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It’s cold and stormy here today. It’s 50 now and expected to drop before warming up slightly.

THE RIGHT STUFF
THE LONGEST DAY
-
Last night, I took my dear wife, Sandy, to the hospital.
She'd tripped in our back yard; fell flat on her face.
No broken bones, thankfully. She's home, but pretty sore.
-
Good morning!
-
Sorry to hear about Sandy's fall, DR Druxy.
-
As DR elmore said, we had a delightful time yesterday!
-
After brunch we saw Anastasia, which I had seen before I really like it and love the score.
-
Later we saw Golden Girls Live. I had seen it in August, but this was a special Halloween edition. It was really hilarious.
-
Good morning.
-
So sorry to hear about Sandy's fall, Druxy. I hope her soreness goes away quickly.
-
Dang, this getting old thing is no fun.
-
The only consolation is grandchildren.
-
See how I worked that in there?? :-)
-
Good morning, all.
-
Another DARK day, weather-wise, with of course rain.
-
Vibes for Mrs. Druxy.

Ebay used to be fun, when it was people clearing out their attics and stuff. When the dealers got involved, things got way too expensive. I deleted my account many many years ago.
-
DR Laura, you and Leonard have both been blessed with his showing up at the right time and place, but I also agree that a Calico of similar age would look perfect right next to him. You do need to think in terms of color complementing and decor, after all.
-
Agree about eBay. It used to be a village. Or a collection of villages. Buyers and sellers could get familiar with each other to some extent. Now it’s practically post-apocalyptic.
-
Last night I saw teasers for a new movie in the “Dragon Tattoo” series, “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”.
Oy.
Of course I will eventually get around to watching it — with only the lowest of expectations — but what I’ve really wanted to do recently is return to the original three films. I only saw them once (likewise the Fincher remake of the first) several years ago, and I’ve been waiting till just the right time to savor them all over again.
-
Bruce does anyone not hate the 405? They could have been wrong about the age ;)
-
DR Laura your nose quote is funny.
-
Getting ready to head to City Center.

DR Druxy I hope Sandy isn't too sore today.

Wow, that's some union!!!!
In contrast, think of the work the actors union put in to changing the "Gypsy Robe" to the "Legacy Robe."

Juxtaposition is important.
Remember the classic line: If you've tried but really can't get rid of cottage cheese thighs, try making them look better; try putting a peach half next to them.

Vibes for Sandy......DR DRUXY did your son get moved yet?

Nice photos of DR ELMORE DR KEVIN and KAT LEONARD......

Haha.....DR ELMORE how do you know Adam Chandler?

Feel better vibes for DR Druxy's wife!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Congrats DR Laura!

I never read that book either after loving the original series. I just looked up the movie and will definitely watch it. I love Claire Foy.

Monday morning greetings! It's a gloomy one here in SW Ohio...
-
Vibes for Mrs. Druxy!
-
DR George, your payroll story reminds me of when I worked as a librarian for Miami University. We got paid on the last working day of each month, except December when we got paid on the last working day before Christmas. That made January a ver-r-r-r-ry long month.
-
Vibes for Sandy......DR DRUXY did your son get moved yet?
He'll be here at the end of this month.
:)
-
Thank you for all the good wishes for my wife, Sandy.

I like the idea of a corgi film
THE QUEEN'S CORGI coming in 2019
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=36&v=1EezOE9WtvU
but this corgi from the trailer seems deliberately ill-mannered. (I hope in the whole film that butler deserved to be directly pee'd on.)

as one of my college teachers would have added, whenever months were being named: except for February, which has 29. :)

Here's a friend's take on the Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House (http://jocelynbeardspookymama.blog/2018/10/15/the-haunting-of-hill-house-a-crime-in-10-acts-on-netflix/)
It spoils away, so read at your own risk.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep with very odd dreams.
-
If I remember correctly, the new Dragon Tattoo movie isn't even based on the second or third book, which is absurd.
-
His description of Hill House is why I didn't continue watching the "miniseries" or whatever they call these things now.
-
BK, did the latest CDs (Porgy, etc.) ship yet?
I'm thinking you said there was a delay, but I honestly don't remember and I just thought to check. Thanks!

And I am home. Joshie is off to a family wedding in Durham, NC, on Wednesday, so I will not see him until Monday, I brought a score home with me to work on.
-

After reading that, I'm not even going to bother. We had planned to give it the low-expectation benefit of the doubt and watch the first couple of episodes. But forget it. That crap is worse than anything I ever would have imagined.
-
Good morning.
Nice new avatar, Laura!

I know that. It is very sad he did not leave a will and everything to his long time partner. Instead his family got control and did what they wanted for money vs what he would have wanted. At least that is the story I read.

Highly recommended!
And I'm very interested in doing it if/when it becomes available.

REALLY looking forward to Porgy and Bess, of course.

In other news, I'm supposed to be playing in a small orchestra accompanying a one-time showing of Harold Lloyd's The Freshman in mid-November. That will be a first for me. Don't know yet whose music, but I'm thinking it's a new score. They don't have all the parts ready yet, and I know the two keyboard books are going to require some programming. But it's not all synth. Real orchestra, and there will be at least a dozen other players.

They're going to change it to the 10th and 25th, so that we don't get paid before we actually turn in our time sheets. Good idea, huh?
Clarification: We have been getting paid on the 15th (or the last working day before that if the 15th is on a weekend) and the last working day of the month, but our time sheets are actually due a few days after that. The problem has been if someone leaves employment but the payment process has been put in motion assuming a fully worked schedule, and the employee actually worked less than that. Trying to get the employee to return money has been a BIG problem. Rare, but big.
NOW, we'll turn in our time sheets within three days of the end of the pay period (the 18th or the 3rd...or days close to that), then the finance department will have the time to process them for paychecks to be deposited on the 25 and the 10th. And no one will get paid for time that they haven't worked.

Well, this is...interesting: Return of the Phantom: A New Musical Highlights (2017) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lg4Gnu9dq-M).
::)
-
And this was in the list of videos on the right side of the page: "The Phantom of the Opera": A Non-Musical Adaptation by Kyle Walker (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe_exvI60qA).
-
And, of course, this has been around a lot longer than the other two: The Phantom of the Opera (David Staller 1991) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBLl27wi_ME). I actually purchased the released VHS tape of this version. I don't think I've watched it since I got it back in the 90s.

It’s based on the fourth book, which I refuse l to read. Heard it was terrible. Might make an excellent movie then.

You’ll have to watch the sequel, The Sins of Harold Diddlebock, as part of your research.

The only consolation is grandchildren.
Uh, oh, at 58, is it too late for me to get some of those? :)

Can you have babies that way?.
I meant, congratulations to the Gere family. Spelchek must have changed what I meant.
-
DR FJL you shore iz bad.

I shall shortly be on my way to pick up mail and then for a production meeting and then rehearsal. I had one homemade cheeseburger, total calorie count around 350. It was very good. Have had several telephonic conversations, listened to some music, and finally cast the final female for the November Kritzerland show.

Should I fix that before they close the site down?

Ok, it's fixed.

How strange! I ended up on September 25 posts for some reason.
-
Bruno on DWTS just came up with the word "salsational."
I wonder if he thought of that or the writers.
-
DWTS update - It's such fun seeing Camryn Manheim sitting there, so proud of her son
-
Well, I must be off. I'm going to the The Rocky Horror Show rehearsal to ask props questions and to answer props questions (if any).
Be back later.
-
It was a beautiful day here.
-
Watching the rest of The Brothers Karamazov. Lots of snow. Feels like the weather today.

Well, I got to the billionaires' house tonight for dance class in their private ballroom and my car battery died. I don't know why, but I felt embarrassed by that. AAA came out and replaced it for me. It was very easy. And still ...
-
And class was weird. One of the instructors didn't show up. So, I ended up working on samba instead of waltz. It was good but strenuous. Back is hurting.

That's a name from the past I haven't heard in years.

Her son Milo (Manheim) is a teen TV star and is competing.

Tonight was our first read-thru for YES VIRGINIA.
-
One of the key major roles in the play is not cast yet.
-
That is a bit unsettling.
-
I was so thrilled to finally have a quote on Laura’s posts; and I have already been replaced.
-
I guess I will have to try and be more witty and urbane.
-
The little girl playing the title character in our play is quite cute and appears to be quite self-confident.
-
Unfortunately, I think they might want to consider putting a microphone on her.
-
I know no one in the cast, except the director, who is also playing a couple of small roles in the production.

I first wrote, “a couple of small parts...”, but I knew I would be reminded that there are no small parts.

Druxy, I am sorry to read about Sandy’s fall, but relieved that there were no broken bones.
-
That was a nice photo, yesterday, of Kevin and elmore.

A beautiful grand baby, Laura.

Tonight was the read-thru, and tomorrow night we have night off. My kind of rehearsal schedule!!

Well, time to clean the litter box.

Goodnight.
